"Low firepower" with two ISD IIs and an SSD, loaded to the gills with fighters and troops? What do you consider "high firepower" Tofu? By the time my R&D has the ISD Mk-II and the SSD researched, I already have 90-95 percent, if not all of the galaxy already explored. Exploring is a job for Probe Droids and transports (the majority of the time)

Rebellion 2008: Remake of a new Source Engine.
DarthTex replied to Slocket's topic in Rebellion Editing
It looks good to me The only thing I can say (and I know it's just your initial go at it), is the sprite explosions seem too quick (it doesn't last long enough) and maybe a bit too small (in size). But that's just my opinion, and you can do what you want. Keep up the good work -
I'm sure if Mad was around he would have told you this answer from the beginning, so I'll give him the majority credit (I get some for remembering , at least I think I remember ). On the Rebellion CD, go to the folder labeled REBELLION/MDATA. All of the "movie" files are located here. Which ones are which will be up to you to find out. As for the file type, I don't know but I believe if you do a search in the forums looking for "MDATA" you'll find that info (probably from Mad's post). My best suggestion

Oooww! I want that! When is it coming out? Is pre-order available?

I did the same thing myself basically my first game. I played as The Empire and built a massive attack fleet (3 SSD's, dozens of ISD's both Mk-I & Mk-II, plus at least a couple of every ship type, loaded with fighters galore). I started taking every single system in galaxy to prevent the Rebel fleet from being able to hide. When they were down to one system, that's where the Rebel HQ and defending fleet had to be. When my massive fleet arrived, ... it was confronted by ... a single A-wing Just one! How anti-climatic I then instantly grasped the concept of maintance points thereafter (especially from the "enemy's" point of view).

New total of ships and fighters for a Rebellion Remake?
DarthTex replied to Slocket's topic in Rebellion 2 Ideas
I think I understand your concern with regarding the number of ships and/or fighters that would have to be displayed for a space battle. My question would be: if you want to see the entire fleet (or even larger portions) the scale would be such that "ship detail" would be almost non-existant; why not adopt the Rebellion way of handling this? Having a "close", "medium", and "far" version of ship detail. Having the computer render 1000 ships at low detail (an overall view) shouldn't be more taxing (graphically) than rendering approximately a dozen ships (at close quarters) at high detail (at least I think so, but what do I know about these modern fangled programs & stuff ). Just my two bits worth I really don't like the idea of having limits for the number of ships/fighters, but ... you have to deal with this somehow. As for the number of task forces/fighter squadrons for the tactical battle; if this could be setup automatically (initially) from the fleet data and be modified thereafter that would be a good start. So basically this could be unlimited or maxed out to one ship per task force, but who would ever want to do that? It would be overally time consuming micro-managing, but it would be the most flexible. For the fighters, there should be at least a couple of more "missions" other than the original "attack capital ships" & "attack fighters"; how about "defend task force/fighter squadron" (then select the task force/fighter squadron); when selecting a specific enemy capital ship to attack, you can make that a list or priority targets; being able to attack "specific" enemy fighter types or groups. Just some ideas -
Not as they are structured today, but there were "higher levels" of education available. But, that doesn't mean I don't have some sagely advice for young whimper-snappers Check to see if any of the colleges you selected offer co-oping (co-operative education). Basically, you "work" for a quarter/semester for a company doing actual work in your field and receive course credit; then the next quarter/semester it's back to the books. Working then school, over and over until your final school year. You get some hands on training with real experience, and the company gets some temporary cheap labor. Usually, if the students are hard working and intelligent (and don't cause trouble, Tofu), the company's offer full time jobs to their former co-op students. You're already trained by them in their procedures and stuff, and it's practically a guranteed job; usually. And you actually find out if that is the job you want, or maybe it was a different one in the same company, or not what you want to do at all. But, having real world experience (not typical college jobs) on your resume' looks good to potential employers Good Luck Tofu! PS Engineering is difficult. The first year or two are giant classes (practically all of the budding engineers) with the "core" (boring) classes meant to "weed out" those without the "true resolve". The later years hit on the "meat" of the curriculum. Study hard, do all of the homework and sample problems for each section, don't hesitate to ask questions (there are no stupid questions; well, you might have some Tofu) and things should work out.

Hiring? Apparently you have some funding (** looks to the left ... looks to the right **) [whisper mode] There's a secret Muun bank account setup strictly for ... consulting purposes; yeah, that's the ticket; consulting. And it's to be used to "consult" with LucasArts employees for "research material": source code. Look into it [whisper mode off/]

That would be a negative LLF. That particular machine (bucket-wheel excavator) is located in Germany and is used to remove "overburden" for coal mines. Basically it's a giant strip miner, but of course now-a-days after the coal is removed, the "overburden" is returned and the area landscaped to appear as close to it's original configuration as possible. I saw it on Modern Marvels on the History Channel (clip) Now, where have I seen this picture before?

PM's should be working, you're not still trying to use the "messages" from your account screen are you? Click on the FORUMS tab, and the last item listed is PRIVATE MESSAGES, click that. Then keep clicking on PRIVATE MESSAGES until you can see your INBOX Glad to see you back Def! Stories and all

Can someone explain why buried deep in the confines of intracity traffic a Corellian Corvette and gobs of medium transports are trying to snake their way between buildings? The cut scenes are cool though

What a mar00n! How to deal with traitors?
DarthTex replied to JediTraining's question in Questions from Newbies
If a traitor is detected (supposedly only by Vader or Luke, depending on which side you're on), then you still have a few options. As Rob mentioned, if you send them on missions, in all likely hood the majority of them fail (especially if the character is the only participant), sometimes with other characters they still might actually succeed (but rarily, depending on who the others are and how many). If the character is capable of a command rank (like Needa), then when holding a command position (Admiral, General or Commander) they will fulfill their "duty" and not pass info to the enemy (although they are still traitors). They usually become traitors because the game in not going in your favor. Should that change, they can become "loyal" yet again (this would have to be verified by Vader or Luke). Once I have a traitor, I NEVER trust them again, sometimes just sticking them on some "rock" in the outer rim to rot away (with some vacation time on the other side of the galaxy at an enemy system). For others, i.e. Menndo (somebody who can't hold a rank), I usually send them to the furthest corner of the galaxy, then send them on missions to an enemy system on the exact opposite side of the galaxy. That way, they spend the most time in hyperspace with no communication enroute (no info leaks), and when they fail their mission (which traitors do well), they have to travel all the way back, in hyperspace again (no info leaks). So, one mission may take them pretty close to 200 days; plenty of time to get things working in your favor. If they get captured, no big lose really. Otherwise repeat or retire them; but once retired, they're gone from that game f-o-r-e-v-e-r! I'd rather have Vader Force-choke them to death or have them assassinated myself, but unfortunately the game won't let you do that -
OK, I'm not sure how far backward to go with this so ... Move Vader and anyone else who is Force sensitive to the same system. Left click on Vader, then while holding down the control key left click on those characters you want to train (this will allow you to have multiple people selected). Right click on Vader, select mission, pick the system icon (the one you're currently on), then from the missions select Jedi Training. Holding down the and keys allow you to select multiple items. And yes this is how you can use decoys. After selecting all appropriate parties and the mission (but before you click on the check mark to accept the mission), click on the "tab" next to the current mission tab (this is for decoys). You'll see the list of the units/characters on the left and a "blank" list on the right. The right side is for the "decoys"; select those you want to be a decoys and click on the ==> arrow to move them to the decoy list. To unselect decoys, select those you want again, but click on the <== arrow to make them active in the mission. Now click the check mark to accept the mission. You're done!

I believe you can train more than one person, just select all those who are capable along with Darth, and away you go

As DarthTex knows from his work, and so I learned, A savegame can be edited to place in more system energy for Rim planets. A program can be written to add in random energy to all planets to make them worthwhile, if you run it on a save game just after you start... I think it's possible to do Core systems as well, but I have yet to experiment; still doing research. I've got the codes & locations for system ownership & popular support, plus flags for systems under "military occupation" so far. Just a couple of more items to decipher

Move both Vader and Needa to Coruscant. Select them both (like they are going to do a mission together; which they are) and select to do a mission on Coruscant. Select the "Jedi Training" mission (as opposed to espionage, etc) and BINGO! Needa is being trained! Have fun

Maybe somebody at GT could put a "bug" in LucasArts ear and get a Rebellion II idea floating?
