I love the fact that they froze JarJar. I couldn't think of a more fitting end to that bum!

Those were the first videos I had of the Trilogy!!! However, last year while rummaging through my uncles house after he passed away (he lived alone and died old- a life long bachelor and he loved every minute of it God bless him), and found that he had the original Star Wars VHS from when each one was released after its theatrical debut...STILL SHRINKWRAPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROTJ: Luke fighting Vader with a blue lightsaber video
Darth_Rob replied to Sinister's topic in General Discussion
Dude, I swear that I have always felt that Lucas' vision of a Wookie is exactly what I think of when I say "Sasquatch". Not Harry (a la Harry and the Hendersons) or any other film portrayal...its Chewbacca all the way. -
Sorry dude. I guess we both had frustrating days today. But while Im in this forum, I guess I'll rant about the current doings of my landlord. He apparently decided to rent out my apartment for the summer (even though he claims he doesnt do summer rentals), so last Friday just as I was getting for work some lady knocks on the door and is like "the landlord said he told you I was gonna come look at the apartment". I said "that bastard!!!" and then proceeded to show her my sty of a bachelor pad (I consider it one since I only see my gf on weekends, and she rarely stays here, so there is no female influence on the place). My moral of the story: landlords are losers. just like deuchebag hippies from California who offer false promises of Wiis, just to rob you blind.

As I stated before, my girlfriend gave me money for my b-day, and I found a nice Wii on ebay that I purchased. Well it appears that I have been bamboozled by some deuche in California. I won the auction on Sunday night, then realized the weirdo only took money orders. So I had the money order overnighted the next day, and on Tuesday he emailed me saying that he received it, but he was gonna wait for the funds to clear. So then we had an email debate, where I insisted that a money order is not a check and there is nothing to wait to clear, and he claimed he had to wait to ensure that I did not pay for the money order with counterfeit cash. This is where I began to get suspicious, so I began to look through his other auctions and feedback. He had sold a few Wiis earlier, all with positive feedback, but then he bought like 20 1cent auctions in a row, which I can only assume was done to increase his feedback rating. So we continued to debate through emails, and eventually he agreed to wait until Monday and then ship it and give me a tracking number, because he felt the funds would be clear by then. Seeing how this was Friday, I saw no point arguing anymore, and said "ok sure". Well that was the last I heard of him. Yesterday (Monday) after work I came home to find no email. So I emailed him and said "what is the tracking number". It is now Tuesday night, I havent heard from him. I went on ebay to do some more investigating, and found out that he cancelled his account. So this leads me to assume that I have been scammed out of $350 US dollars (actually $50, my gf gave me $300 as my b-day gift). So I have contacted ebay, and I am now very, VERY frustrated that I had to deal with some deuche like this. I am totally pissed off. Its not the fact that I dont have a Wii yet, its the fact that some blowhole on the west coast has my money. Dirty scumbag!!!

That is quite possibly one of the coolest mods I have ever seen. I would steal it if I knew its exact location.

Grrr...I don't understand the SE. It accomplished absolutely nothing. The Jabba scene was a joke (because Jabba was CGI), the Wampa scene was not needed, and the new-and-"improved" Max Reebo Band in ROJ sucked!!! Though then again, I must take that back. The SE did accomplish something. It got me (and many others) further into Star Wars then ever before. The hype of the SE coming to the theatre was incredible, and it upped my nerdiness factor tremendously as I slowly marked dates off my calander in anticipation of their release. So yeah, the changes Lucas made sucked, were horrible, had a negative impact on the originals, but at the same time it added to the SW hype that got me in as far as I am today. And I guess that in the end, that was his plan. To get new fans with new material and solidify the original fan base with promises of improvements and future prequels.

I didn't notice that Fett's voice changed in the SE. I call shenanagins!!!

Meh. Lucas probably felt he had to make things flashier and faster paced for a new generation. He was in it for the $$$, and thus had to get a larger target market than the die-hard fans from 20 years ago. I love the lightsaber duels in the OT. I must admit that the first one in ANH between Ben and Vader is a tad slow, but ESB and ROJ got it right. As for my favorite, its gotta be ESB, hands down. I would have loved to have seen that one originally in the theatre, having this explosive battle, Han captured, Luke is Vader's son, and then the movie ends. What a cliffhanger it was!!!

I was born in 1982, so I missed the theatrical releases also. But my parents (my dad in particular) were huge fans, and had seen the movies in the theatre. So growing up I saw the films many times on VHS. Then of course there were childrens books and such. I never got the action figures myself, but I played with my older cousins collection (hes about 7 years older than me, so he had all the figures from the movies). But as I got older, my true playtime passion was video games, and the NES delivered with the original Star Wars and Empire Stirkes Back games. But it got better as I got older. I got truely excited for the re-release of the trilogy and for Episode I. I started getting the "Stae Wars Insider" Magazine delivered to my house. But one of the biggest things for me in Star Wars was the release of the card game. The game had the people, places and things from the movies-in card form. My friends and I loved the game, and played it alot. The game came out around '97 or so, and I spent oh so much money on that. Back then, a Darth Vader card was worth like $50-60. But alas, today the same thing goes for like $3 on ebay, which is why I will never sell my collection. So in summary, yes that magical time of hype prior to the re-releases and Phantom Menace were the best for me.

VA Tech Tragedy & Gun Debate (from world conflicts)
Darth_Rob replied to DarthTofu's topic in Outside Interests
I hate to bring this subject down even more, but I just got off the phone with my girlfriend. Apparently one of the victims who was killed was a girl my girlfriend went to highschool with. They knew each other through the drama club. She is pretty shook up about it, knowing that she knew someone involved in that. -
Woot!!! The New York Rangers were the only team in the NHL to sweep the playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VA Tech Tragedy & Gun Debate (from world conflicts)
Darth_Rob replied to DarthTofu's topic in Outside Interests
Im sorry, but I just dont see why innocent civilian gun collectors should not be allowed to pursue their passion. And regardless of what anti-gun laws are passed, the professional criminals will still get their hands on them through smuggling and the black market. There is no way to stop that, aside from building a shield generator around a nation to stop everything from getting in or out. As for gun regulation, I cant see how you could possibly want any more. If you go to a store to purchase a gun, you have to wait several days while the FBI and other agencys run checks on you. If you have been a perfect citizen in the past, than they have no reason to not allow you to have weapons of your choice. What it all comes down to, and I think Tex already said it, is that guns dont kill people, people kill people. You cant blame the actions of a mentally insane person on the tool they are using. Its a truely sad and horrible say when someone misuses a weapon for deranged reasons, but its going to happen in society. There was no way for the gun salesman or the government to know that this VA-Tech kid was gonna blow his stack soon. Violence is just one of the evils we have to deal with in a society, and if a person misuses a piece of technology (whether a gun or car or anything else) that non-sentinent tool cannot be put to blame. -
Current (Rebellion) game's you're playing.

Man, I haven't played a game of Rebellion in a long time. Damn the PS2 (and soon the Wii) for taking up my precious time!!! -
VA Tech Tragedy & Gun Debate (from world conflicts)
Darth_Rob replied to DarthTofu's topic in Outside Interests
I just dont see what the qualm is if somebody enjoys guns. Whether they collect them, hunt, or just shoot recreationally (at targets to improve accuracy and what not), I think civilians should have access to guns if they want. If you dont want to deal with it, then dont buy one. But let me tell you. My father is a hunter/gun collector. Growing up, I was exposed to guns at a very young age. And I turned out just fine (well, gun safety wise at least). I respected the gun from the start (through his constant lessons and what not) and was never curious about them or thought they were "cool" enough to play around with them. I learned a lot about safety and respect through it, and I definitely plan on doing the same with my kids. And on a lighter subject, a lesson taken from the Simpson family: When Lisa made it apparent that she resented guns and the needlessness of the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution, Homer came back at her by saying something along the lines of "Oh yeah?! Then the King of England could just come in here, and start pushing you around? Would you like that? Huh? Huh?" -
The New York Rangers just finished whupping the Atlanta Thrashers tonight, thus they now lead the series 3-0 (its a best of 4). They could wrap things up tomorrow and then have a few days off to rest and practice before the next round of the playoffs!!! @JH: Sorry bud, but the Flames are currently 0-2...

Hey Tex, isn't it legal in Texas to carry around a loaded gun on your person in public? I thought I remembered hearing that. -

VA Tech Tragedy & Gun Debate (from world conflicts)

I agree that there was a lack of action on the schools part. It was in their power to do more in order to save those lives. What it comes down to is the fact that no one expects these things to happen. It is such a rare occurence, and everyone says "well it cant happen HERE"...no one considers it an event that can take place in their school or hometown. But unfortunatly, crazy messed up people can exist everywhere, from the urban areas of NYC to the backwater countrysides. But as far as guns go, I am all for them, and for gun rights. Most gun-related violent acts occur with pistols or rifles, you never hear of a guy shooting up his girlfriend with an assult rifle or the like. Only professional criminals (professional robbers and such) use assult weapons, and I can assure you that they dont walk into the downtown gun shop to pick those up...they use the black market through some guy on the street. All I can say is that guns are great, and to make the honest collectors suffer due to the actions of the criminally insane is just ridiculous. -
VA Tech Tragedy & Gun Debate (from world conflicts)
Darth_Rob replied to DarthTofu's topic in Outside Interests
I had no idea this had happened until I got home from work and had an email from my college president mentioning it. It is a ridiculous tragedy. Some people are just ridiculously nuts, think their life is over because they have a bad day, and just take it out on the world. Truely sad. But I have something to add, politically. I am a strong conservative, and I love guns and am all for gun rights. But I am very, VERY disappointed in President Bush's speech about the issue, where he re-emphasises his stance on gun rights, as did Senator McCain. They took this tragedy and threw in their political views while expressing regret, and I don't like that one bit. If they wanted to do that, they could have waited for another day, another press release... -
You know, one of my friends DOES look like an alien...
