  1. Yeah, you do great work Eagle. I still love my current avatar.
  2. I wont be getting wasted; since Im working I'll be helping others get wasted by bringing them their booze.
  3. Since it appears most of us were too lazy to do anything this year (including myself), I think Eagle deserves the win. His snow-fall is top-notch.
  4. Its been pretty quiet around here lately... I worked a 13-hour shift yesterday, and I am beat.
  5. Hope "Santa" was good to everyone.
  6. The free demo for Lord of the Rings: Conquest was released yesterday. Its a lot of fun, and I will definitely be picking it up for the PS3 when it comes out in January. Its somewhat based on the Battlefront engine, in which there are the classes and spawn points, and you capture additional checkpoints and whatnot. Also, like in Battlefront 2, as you kill a bunch of enemies, you can play as a "hero" character, such as Aragorn or Sauron. Thats right, Sauron. You can play as either the "Free Peoples" or Sauron's army. The four classes are warrior, archer, scout, and mage, each with a different combat style and technique. The demo had one single-player tutorial stage, which was the battle at the beginning of the FotR movie in which the Last Alliance takes on Sauron at Mount Doom. You can only play as the good guys, and eventually you can change to Isildur (sp) to take on Sauron and finish the tutorial. What was cool was that the tutorial allows you to play as the other four classes as well, so you get a feel for each. The demo also included a online multilplayer battle. Two teams of 8 can meet online and duke it out. It was on here that I was able to become an orc. As far as I can tell, there are no differences between the classes for the good and bad guys (thus, a man warrior is equal to an orc warrior as far as stats and moves). The game is a lot of fun. I am looking forward to when the game comes out next month and really going crazy. I saw a trailer for the game in which they showed a level where, as the bad guys, you play as the Balrog as you attack the Shire. So the big, bad Balrog with his flaming sword was burnanating hobbits and ents left and right. I know for a fact that the game will also be released on the 360, and I think possibly the PC. I forget.
  7. This old thread should do for some good ol' holiday cheer. I wish you all happy holidays and a happy New Year. Starting next year, things are gonna be insane for me. Lots of big changes coming up...
  8. HAHA. Yeah, my plans of mad money yesterday were foiled by yet another snowstorm. Luckily, we didnt have ice or any power outages. I believe the mid-west US was hit by ice. But yeah, we had a lot of snow again, so the restaurant was dead. Then to make matters worse, the snow storm cancelled the misses' sister's flight in. The misses family is spending Christmas at our apartment, and her sister was coming from Las Vegas last night. She had a stop-over in Boston, and was supposed to transfer in to Albany. However, the Albany flight got canceled, and apparently the airport was not handing out any vouchers for rooms, food, or buses. So once I got off work at 11pm last night, I drove with the misses mother up to Boston in ridiculously bad roads and weather. Needless to say, I got home at 5:30am. It was horrible. And the snow is not over yet. We are supposed to get another big dropping of snow on Christmas Eve, bringing us up to a total accumulation of 2 feet for Christmas!!!
  9. Hmmm...I gotta get crackin.
  10. Im a waiter, so my income comes from tips. I think the manager is negotiating with the corporate offices to see if they will pay us for days we missed due to the power outage, but that wont mean much to me, since my hourly wages are below the minimum wage. The good news is that Im working from open to close on Sunday, and with it being the last weekend before Christmas, we should be getting a lot of business, which will definitely be great.
  11. Yeah, I agree man. Collecting stuff from the war (whether American, German, Japanese, etc) is one thing, but he just went too far.
  12. Yeah, the "Aryan Nation" name was even more insane. I mean, its not even a person's name...its a concept for a racial demographic of people. And he says he's not racist...
  13. Am I the only one who thinks this kid's parents are messed up???
  14. So my job still has no power. Ive been out of work for a week as of today...
  15. Happy Holidays from Loki
  16. They dont always get a shot off. I think the Imp fighters have a chance of chasing after a squad that is performing an attack run and can destroy them before the cut scene comes on.
  17. Both those things are very cool. That book does look very interesting, and I simply love when artists build outside the sets and make their own stuff.
  18. I have returned!!! Heres the gist. On Thursday night there was a heavy ice storm all over the northeast U.S., and the ice from the storm either brought down powerlines or brought trees down onto the powerlines. So Friday we had no power, and headed home to keep warm for the night. On Saturday our neighbors (who had stayed up there) had called to tell us the power came back late Friday night. So we got here in the afternoon, and by the time we were here, the power was out again. But it was relatively warm in the apartment still, so we decided to wait it out and see what happened. So we slept in the coldness Saturday night, and woke up this morning to some chilly 49F in our apartment. We decided to wait til later in the afternoon to see what would happen, so we went to the mall for a bit, and by the time we got home, the power was back. Its stayed on since, so I think we are in the clear. The worst part was the loss of heat, and our apartment doesnt have a fireplace. Also, with the loss of electricity, we couldnt go out and buy any portable heaters. Luckily we still had running water, so we were able to keep clean when we were here. The misses aunt lives about 1/2 hour from us, and she doesnt have power yet. So we were lucky to get it back this quickly. The estimates all had it pegged until the middle of the week for our area, but I guess they changed their mind and got to us sooner. So all is well now. But I must say, this is the first time Ive had to live though something like this. It makes you realize how much we take technology for granted, when you think about how we used to survive before electricity and all...
  19. So yeah, we were hit pretty hard from that ice storm. We are out of power, my job is out of power...so we are living with my parents until power is restored in our area. Estimates are a few days, up to a week. My cousins living in New Hampshire live in a very rural area, and guaranteed to be out of power for a week, so they are going to be staying at my parents also. Its gonna be a cramped house...
  20. I just found the for this movie. I'll most probably see it.
  21. A few days ago woot.com had a marshmellow pop gun or something for sale, but by the time I saw it, it was sold out...
  22. Thats not cute...thats just plain freaky.
  23. I actually read a book for my Media Literacy class on this very subject. Each chapter of the book talked about different aspects of pop culture and the media. The chapter on Star Wars dealed with Lucas and fan sites, and it argued that while Lucas had to protect his intellectual rights, he should also allow the fans to express their love of the story via fan fiction, so long as they receive no monetary gain. Personally, I guess I agree. I mean, so long as this guy isnt charging people to look at his work, and is not selling reproductions of his work, he should be allowed to continue. Of course, there is no law protecting fan fiction, so legally Lucas has the right to do as he pleases. J.K. Rawling from the Potter series had a similar stance I think, where she allowed people to have fan fiction as long as they received no monetary rewards. But when they started making the movies, whoever the producer was (I forgot if it was 20th Century Fox or WB) gained the rights to stop fan fiction, which it did.
  24. I always ask for at least one of the Hallmark Christmas ornaments each year. This year its the Palpy one.
  25. @Tofu: How are the college apps. going?
