  1. Sorry for the double post, but I think I should have been more specific: I downloaded the smacker program on Mask's site, and I think I managed to get everything in the readme other than teh framerate part (I couldnt find the 15kbs or any of those settings). When I hit the "Smack" button after doing all that, it says "Cannot read filename.wmv" and nothing happens. Any ideas how to fix this problem?
  2. I need to know how to convert my WMV files to SMK, then how to import them using Smacker Tool into rebellion. I tried just renaming the file, but then Smacker won't recognize it as a valid file. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. I dont see why Palpy couldnt be Anakin's father, but here is some other evidence that may lead against it: Luke "Who was my mother?" Owen (thinks to himself): "I probably shouldnt tell him that his mother was a Princess. He already wants to get off this darn planet enough as it is. I'd hate to think what he would do if he learned that he could have been royalty on Naboo (after all, how would Owen know that queens on Naboo are "elected"). Owen: "She died a long time ago. Her name was--hey is that a wamp rat chewing our moisture vaporators? Go take care of that!" Later.... Luke: "Why was my father" Owen: "A freighter pilot (thinks: Ha! A half truth! Obi-wan would be proud)" Luke: "Which side are you related to?" Owen: "Why, I'm related to--Hey! That wamp rat is back! Go get 'em!" Later.... Luke: "Where are my grandparents?" Owen: "I never new your grandfather. Your father was from off world, and we're too poor to leave the planet. As for your mother, she died in a Tuskan raider attack." Luke: "Did you just give me a straight answer?!" Owen: "Why, I guess I--go get that wamp rat!!" Conclusion: The questions asked do not necessarily prove that Palpy is Anakin's father. Owen could explain most of them (even if he told the truth), but none of them really point toward Palpy being the father. Now, I have never read a single NJO book. As far as "my" star wars universe is concerned, the saga ends at "Crimson Empire 2". From what I understand, they're saying that there is no "Dark Side" or "Light Side" anymore, but I dont really hold that as canon, simply because Light Side users get the privilige of being Force Glowies. That and the movies dont support it. Whether we like it or not, there IS a hint of Jesus in Anakin's making. He was born of "God"(The Force) to save mankind from the Darkside (which he did when he threw Palpy off the shaft). Of course, unlike Jesus, we went to the Dark Side first, but we blame that on environmental factors. As I said at the beginning of the post, Palpy very well could be Anakin's father. But Qui-Gon also said that he could have been spawned from the Force itself, rather than Palpy. Like Lucas wanted, its up to interpretation.
  4. Looks nice! In fact, it looks a lot like the Strike Cruiser from Mask's site, but with different textures, or am I just imagining things?
  5. I'd say Gmax is the best. I did all my work on the new Bulwark Battlecruiser with it, and other than a slight texture problem (which Mad was kind enough to fix), it worked pretty well. The only problem is, you need a few other programs to finish the process, but its all free so who cares?
  6. 4060. Not bad for an anime character who appeared in 6 episodes!
  7. If you don't like that, imagine Leia Gunray all grown up. Slave Leia--Neimoidian style!
  8. I knew I should have just gone with "Elder Toguro", but noooo I had to give myself a premature promotion
  9. Darth Vader: "Luke, I am your father!" Luke: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Darth Vader: "Search your feelings! You know it to be true!" Luke: "(searches feelings) Sorry, Darth. I'm getting Palpy, not you." Darth: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Luke: "Hm..maybe we ARE related."
  10. VG music is my favorite genre, actually. Some of my favorite are: Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (PS2) Final Fantasy 7 (PSX) Tales of Symphonia (Gamecube) Sonic Adventure Series (Dreamcast/Gamecube) Makai Kingdom: Chronicles of the Sacred Tome (PS2) I typically prefer console music over computer game music. I find the perkier, happy themes more fun to listen to
  11. Natural children, I'm fairly sure. Notice the conversation between Padme and Anakin: Padme: "I have wonderful news Ani, I'm Pregnant!" Anakin: "Thats wonderful!" Not, Padme: "I have wonderful news Ani, I'm Pregnant!" Anakin: "What the? When did we..? It better not be Obi-Wan." Padme: "No, it wasn't Obi-Wan, Ani. It was Nute Gunray." Anakin: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Padme: "Just kidding. Force conception." Anakin: "Okay fine, but if my kid comes out looking like a fish with a bad Japanese accent, there's gonna be a beatdown." Seriously, the fact that Padme doesnt correct Obi when he asks if Anakin is the father at the end of Ep. 3, the fact that Padme bears the kids, AND that Darth Vader says "No, I am your Father (not Nute Gunray)", shows that they are natural babies.
  12. I only get 36....
  13. click on the "rebellion" link next to the forums for information about SW rebellion.
  14. oops, my bad. I mistook Particle for Plasma for some reason. Anyway, just whack the Aklasps with energy attacks so that they wont be so affected by gravity and give me some time to work with the particle shields
  15. We're well on our way to finishing the TC, but as I was working on it, I began to think--"Would the SWR gang even want a TC of Rebellion that isnt Star Wars?" You've seen the pics in my other topic, so you know that I'm going for a cartoony, anime style for the game, with no star wars guys to think of (although I used the black-armor stormtroopers for my "Thought Police Regiment"). Is there any desire to play a game like that on this forum?
  16. Thanks. I'm reluctant to get started on this because I dont want my sister to draw and color something only to find out it wont work. I'll ask Mask, since he made the movie/music exchange thing
  17. All "research needed" does is tell you how many "points" of research are needed. To that end, all you have to do is make the research level higher. You can go above the regular limit of 11, I think.
  18. About bombardment--Each Shield has a shield value. 40 for the Gencore1, 80 for the Gencore2. Each ship has a bombardment value, ranging from the Carrack Cruiser's 1 to the Death Star's 15. Fighters call it a bombardment value, and ships call it a bombardment modifier, but its the same thing. Add the total bombardment value/modifier of all ships in orbit, then subtract it from the total shield value of the planet. That determines whether you'll succeed or not. It should be noted that Admirals and Commanders increase the total bombardment value of the fleet, though I'm not sure by how much. I performed the following test and I have confirmed that my information is accurate: 2 ISDs, 2 SSDs and 2 Strike Cruisers (total bombardment value=12, no admiral on board). These powerful ships cannot break a Gencore level 1. 4 Escort carriers (bombardment value of 0) loaded with TIE bombers. Dead shield and then some. Fear the bombardment value--its why Victory SDs own, and why I took bombardment value off of my fighters.
  19. I suggest cloning the Ysalamiri in mass quantities then. Theres probably at least a corpse you can use somewhere. Also, Plasma shields are supposed to be good against energy according to what I've read online. What about sending a strong projectile through the shields, which then opens up to reveal lots of tiny little droids. The droids crawl to vital areas of the ship and explode, dealing damage to important areas.
  20. In regards to Tofu's statement, I'm inclined to agree. There were a lot of conveniences in those books, but for the most part I didn't mind them too much. As for Thrawn being able to make an accurate prediction based on species, we can see that it is rather inaccurate just by looking at the last 300 years of world history. The primary ruling force of the 1700s (the British) were defeated, in part because of superior tactics by the terrorists (aka American freedom fighters. We have to use current terminology). Since that war, most countries now adopt the more stealthy type of combat when engaging wars. The point is that if humans are capable of creating strategy that totally breaks away from what they usually do, then we have to assume that the other species can do it too. to be fair though, most non-humans in the SW universe are usually stereotyped. Almost all Chiss are cold and calculating, almost all Trandoshans are viscious, etc.
  21. I liked the fact that it took place in the Mangal dimension. It kind of gave the appearance that since it was new, anything could happen. My TC has nothing to do with Star Wars at all, so when someone plays it, they have no idea what to expect in terms of story. I liked that element in the Protectorate, too, especially with the new characters like Darth Rakam, etc. I didnt notice the rebellion being more aggressive though.
  22. Okay, more ideas on how to beat the Rapora and their near-invincible buddies, the Aklasp. These are actually serious. Defeating the Aklasp: Silicon, which the Aklasp are composed of, reacts to the basic acidic solution of sodium hydroxide. If battles are expected against Aklasp, using bombs filled with Sodium Hydroxide, either fired from launchers or aircraft should destroy them. Rapora: Being reptiles, I would say that cooling them down would almost certainly kill them, regardless of armor. To that end, I suggest that anyone fighting a Rapora use a type of gun equivilent to a flamethrower, but rather than gold gasoline, it holds liquid nitrogen. The nitrogen would be fired at high pressure at the rapora. The Rapora could try to block the their lightsabre things, but since a liquid is being fired instead of a solid, they would find the weapons rather inefficent for blocking. I also suggest a massive cloning program of Ylasmari or whatever those force-blocking squirrels are It may very well be that something about their hide, blood, or skin blocks the force. To that end, it might be possible to put a Ylasmari pelt on a human, making them immune to force attacks,
  23. Ah my bad. I thought you wanted pics from the cartoons. As far as Sidious is concerned, no one except the Sith knows he exists. They know A Sith Lord exists, but they're unaware of his name. To that end, I'm gonna say Gunray would be best, but its up to you of course. Consider Durge and Ventress for Confederacy people. Since you're talking about right before the battle of Geonosis, you can use Jango Fett, too Maybe Zam Wesell, depending on how long before Geonosis. If you drop combat and espionage from Palpy, then it starts to get a little more balanced because the Confederacy leaders (Grievous, Dooku, and whoever you replace Han with) will probably be really powerful. I dont know your setup, but I imagine it might be something like 15 Jedi for the Republic? To keep it balanced, I'd suggest doing what was done in the Protectorate: the minor character Jedi will be Jedi 100% of the time, but have like a 20-40 level variance. Alternatively, consider this: The Jedi were having trouble detecting enemy presences at this time, and Jedi were also fairly common at this time. It was people with really high midichlorian counts that were rare. To that end, why don't you make all the minor Jedi (except for Mace Windu and a couple others) just regular fighters, and not Jedi? Go into the DLLs and change the text to say "I have discovered that xJedinamex has an unusually high midichlorian count. We should conduct training to increase his potential" or something. Change Force Ranking to Midichlorian Level, and make it something like low, medium, high, Chosen One, etc. This not only allows you to balance out the Confederacy people, but also to use the Jedi on missions involving force sensitives without them botching it up. As for images that look real, I cant help with those because Dooku and Palpy, or Grievous and Palpy arent in any good shots in the movies
  24. don't forget Commander Cody. As the only "named" Trooper, he deserves a character slot! Anyway, some suggestions for the dll pics (assuming you have ready access to images from the Clone Wars cartoon). Grievous (pre-dagobah/whatever event): Theres a great scene where Palpy and the Jedi are riding down an elevator to escape, and Grievous is actually running down the wall, chasing them. No one says anything, and Grievous just turns his head and looks over at them inside the elevator. A still shot of that would be cool. "General Grievous has attempted to capture the Chancellor. He was/was not able to evade the Chancellor's body guards and captured/failed to capture Palpatine." Or something like that. Grievous (post-dagobah/whatever event): Unless I'm wrong (I probably am), the above scene is the only good image with both Palpatine and Grievous in it at the same time. However, in the scene where they are in the subway, I believe we get a shot at the back of Palpy's head, and another scene with Grievous sticking to a wall. Cut the background around Palpy's head and paste him onto the scene with Grievous, giving the viewer the perspective that they are behind Palpy, who is looking at Grievous. "Grievous has confronted the Chancellor in an attempt to capture him. The Chancellor's bodyguards were/were not able to protect the Chancellor from Grievous. Palpatine/Grievous was lost." or something like that. Dooku Vs. Palpatine: Look at the Asajj Ventress Vs. Dooku battle when she wakes up in his headquarters. You see a really nice shot of Dooku at the bottom right, pointing his lightsabre out in a thrust against Ventress. capture that image and delete everything but Dooku and his sabre. Paste that into that scene where Palpy is sitting in his chair with his fingers interlocked (where he was talking to Padme). "Count Dooku has confronted Chancellor Palpatine. The Chancellor's bodyguards were/were not able to protect him, and Dooku abducted/failed to abduct Palpatine." Or something like that. Just a question though--do we want Chancellor Palpatine and Sidious in the same game? It might be odd if I send Sidious to capture himself
  25. How much effort are you willing to put into it? You could use new event pics (or edit them like in P:TESB) and do new voices. If you do that, then you can make any event you want!
