  1. I hate to ask, but could someone who has done this before give me a step-by-step walkthrough "for dummies" on this, please? I tried reading the Readme that came with Mask's program, but I still got the error message. Thanks for all the help so far--my TC is getting ever nearer to completion!
  2. I'm pretty sure Evaders and the rest of the reloaded team don't respond kindly to this stuff, since they can't really work on it full time. If i remember right, they're pretty much just swamped in the DLL sections, replacing all the graphics and menus and stuff. They also have a few defenses/troops/characters to do. Oh yeah, and all the voice acting ( I pity you guys for that. I'm having to do both agents by myself for my TC!)
  3. Any side may randomly get them, but no matter what, each side may only have 30 minor characters.
  4. that happens a lot when you dont play the game from the CD. If you're not playing from the CD, reinstall and play with it. If you are playing with the CD, clean it, reinstall, then try.
  5. During the 1996 US Presidential campaign I remember there being some media hype about fossils of one-celled organisms existing on the moon. Unless they've found that to be false, we can at least assume that there is rudimentary life on other planets, even if it IS as small as bacteria. As for intelligent life, it makes sense for there to be life, but perhaps since physics won't allow us to go too far out into space, we're all confined on our own planets, constantly wondering whether we're alone.
  6. Hi again! Now is the time in the TC where I must replace the voices for the agents! I'm catching up to Reloaded! But seriously, I'm running into this problem: I've replaced about four segments of dialogue for IMP22's briefing, and when I start it, it literally speeds though all of the briefing, no voices but just skimming through all of the things on the GID, until the game starts, where it proceeds as normal. I'm using wavs of the default setting when made using Windows Sound Recorder. All of the clips are shorter than the original briefing, so theres no overflow. What is going on? Any help would be appreciated--thanks!
  7. In a fight to the death, I'm going to have to give it to Palpy. When they were on the floating platforms, I think it was obviously Palpy who had the upperhand. He was pushing forward with the force while Yoda was falling back. Perhaps if they were in the Geonosian Arena, Yoda might win, but we have to take it as one of Palpy's strengths that he's smart enough to get to advantageous ground (Anakin can tell you all about how important the high ground is). Even if they're exactly tied in power, heck, even if Yoda IS a little stronger, Palpy is a better strategist, can see the future, AND isnt afraid to fight dirty. I can't see him losing that battle. On another note, this conversation leads me to an interesting thought: looking at the Dooku Vs. Yoda battle in Ep.2, I'm led to believe that Dooku could have won if he hadnt been worn down by Ani and Obi. Therefore, if Yoda is about as strong as Palpy and a fresh Dooku could be as strong as Yoda, then in a fight, Dooku might actually stand a chance against Palpy. He is, after all, the only other guy in the movies we see using Force Lighting! Maybe thats one of the reasons Palpy had him killed by Anakin. He didn't want to be usurped by his apprentice, so why not get good, loyal, Anakin to take Dooku's place? Well, he was good and loyal until the shaft thing.... Anyway, back to the regular topic
  8. I voted for Dooku because he seemed the most real to me. I know very few people who are evil for evil's sake (like Palpy was). Dooku honestly believed in what he was doing, and thought it was for the good of the galaxy. At least, thats what I got out of the movies. He thought the senate was corrupt and so he went against it in order to purify it. If he had to sell his soul to the Dark Side in order to accomplish that, then so be it. Maul was cool, but because he didnt develop much, and because he was obviously there to BE cool, he became (who called him this?) a "glorified red shirt". Palpy was unbelievable. He was evil to the core, but we never know why. This makes him the ultimate villain and someone we love to hate, yes, but my favorites are always the believable villains. Vader is great. I love Darth Vader because he knows what he's doing is wrong, but if he ever admitted it to himself, he'd have to come to terms with what he's done, and it would kill him. However, he doesn't get this treatment in Episode 4, and Anakin really grated on me. Especially baby Anakin in Ep.1. Because of that, Dooku inches ahead. Dooku for emperor!
  9. I can see this turning into a debate rather than a statement of people's religion, or lack thereof. If we want to have at it, we should make a new forum. The purpose of this one is to help DarthTofu with his theory. Unless Tofu already has the data he needs, and in that case carry on and I'll jump in when the waters are hot enough
  10. I'm agnostic for one major reason--I can neither prove or disprove the existance of God. Either way at the beginning of time, we run into this: Atoms were there, always were there, and always will be there under the law of conservation of matter. After the big bang, they formed everything. God was there, always was there, and always will be there under religious doctrine. He formed everything. At its base, we really don't have proof of our origin, so it could be either. Admittedly I tend to waver toward atheism, but until I have proof God doesn't exist, I cant for certain say he doesnt. I can however, say that in all likelihood he does not exist and live life like he doesn't, but I cannot really rule it out until more evidence is presented.
  11. Name: Valzelos Adalzemar Race: Trandoshan Skin color: Jungle Green Diplomacy 0 (20) Espionage 70 (20) Combat 85 (20) Leadership 75 (30) Valzelos spent his early years learning how to track and kill prey, as did most Trandoshans. During his adolescent years, he travelled with his father to deliver some Wookiee slaves to a Black Sun client by the name of Prince Xizor. Much to Valzelos' surprise, Xizor was using a human woman, Guri, as a bodyguard. Valzelos' father laughed at the unorthodox choice, and Xizor proposed a bargain with him: if he could defeat Guri, then Xizor would pay triple price for the Wookiees, if not, then Xizor would receive the slaves for free. Valzelos' father accepted, and was promptly defeated with a single strike by Guri, who was actually a Human Replica Droid. Stunned, Valzelos asked how such a thing could be possible, and Xizor casually replied that Guri was a master of Teras Kasi, an ancient form of martial arts. Soon after, Valzelos sought someone to teach him the ways of Teras Kasi, so that he too could become strong enough to defeat a man in one blow. He found a master, and over time, learned the powerful skill. He became loyal to his old sage, and was surprised when his master finally died of old age. As the Trandoshan packed his things, he found several documents in his master's house revealing that the master had been a member of the Rebel Alliance. Valzelos quickly joined the rebels after that, serving as a spy team leader on rim worlds. Now that the Empire has fallen and the New Republic is in control, Valzelos works to discover potential insurrections among the crime gangs of the outer rim.
  12. Its not hard. Just go to your DLL files in RebEd and there it is
  13. Okay, I used the old file and it worked. Looks like I'll have to replace all the voices and, worst of all, all the Agent Animation. I think Darth Vader said it best: "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" (EDIT: We get the point, you don't have to make it longer than most window resolutions) /sigh
  14. Depending on your hard drive side, just make a new directory of Rebellion and copy the contents over. Dont forget, of course, that you already have a backup copy--your CD! Just click "My computer", right click the drive with the CD, then hit explore, and there are all the data files waiting to be copied!
  15. Sorry to bump this, but until I can figure out whats going on, all my work has to stop! Please if anyone has had this problem, or knows what to do, let me know. Its very frustrating!
  16. Dont worry about the version. Ignore it and it should continue regardless. If it still won't work, PM me and I'll send you the unzipped directory, ready to play. Reshack can be found by going to Google and typing in "Resource Hacker". Its the first major link. It can be used to see and preview ALL of the stuff about Rebellion, and change the contents of the DLL files. Be warned--there IS no full restore button. If you screw it up, you pay the price. But the good news is that the first time you save a change, Reshack makes a backup of the DLL, so you can scrap all your work in favor of the original. Its not as easy to fix as a full restore button though. To my knowledge, RebEd is the only program with a full restore button. Some proggys make backups, but thats it. I suggest you try RebEd to change what you want to change, and then if you want to go more in-depth, try Reshacker. Its not as fun as RebEd is, and its not really needed if you just want to change a few cards. If you really like it enough to try to use Reshacker, however, I'm sure myself and the other people would be happy to help you.
  17. We've already given you the specifics of Rebed. It does everything we've described, and only everything we've described. Likewise, if you use the full restore button, it will only fix the changes that Rebed can make. Then again, thats why you want to backup your files when using Reshack or other programs. If all else fails, just reinstall from the CD. That relates more to Reshack than Rebed. Here are some detrimental things about Rebed: Cards might not work properly. This is caused by the cardmaker botching the picture. Follow the card making tutorial to learn how to properly make a card. Invincible troops. This is caused by setting a bombardment defense to 10, making it immune to bombardment. They can still be sabotaged or assaulted though. Messed up event pics or sounds--this is caused by changing the DLL files to a new file that doesn't use the right palette, or in the case of a sound file, isnt a .WAV. These are the only known problems with Rebed, and all of them are caused by the person not knowing what they are doing. Again, the full restore will fix all of them. I understand that you're just trying to get information, but I believe you may have gone in a little too skeptical about this program. While cheating is possible, as others here have said, its rarely done. Rebed was used in the Protectorate mod to make the game much more aggressive and difficult (if you're the empire, the rebels are supposed to swarm you). Keep in mind that many people here can win the game by day 100. My personal record is day 35 (Rebels, HQ Victory, medium), and I'm sure others have beaten that. The fully installed Rebed is 5.03mb, so its not a big space commitment. If you're not convinced that Rebed at least CAN be good, I suggest you download it. While we may or may not be able to convince you with these posts, consider the size of this board, most of whom are here for Rebellion. You have nothing to lose if you have the original rebellion CD (the Full Restore button reads off the CD, so be warned)
  18. Rebed lets you edit/replace troops, ships, specforces, characters, fighters, defenses, and some of the more important DLL files Furthermore, you can rename your planets, sectors, and then move them around! You were saying how making it harder just adds time to your game, and you dont want that? okay, then why not move all the systems close together? Thats what I did for my TC and now I have at least one ship battle every 50 days or so. You can't increase the save files per se, but what you can do is to go the savegame directory in your Rebellion folder and either rename them or move them somewhere else (I prefer the latter). Then, when you want to play that file again, just move it back or rename it. Tofu is correct about the ships, and any time you change a DLL, the changes will be made whenever the game takes a look at the DLL. Here's an example, supposing I replace Sarin Virgilio with Kenshin Himura. When I load up my old game, there will be a picture of Kenshin, but his name will be Sarin. This is because game doesn't constantly check the DLL files to make sure his name is still Sarin. However, if I give him a command position to, say, admiral, the game checks his name again, and then calls him "Admiral Himura". So if I change him back, it looks again and his name changes to Kenshin. Cool, huh? I say you should just download it and try it for yourself. Its a small download, virus-free, and the changes aren't permanent since it comes with a full restore button. You have nothing to lose.
  19. Sure you can make it easier or harder and whatnot, but theres more to Rebed than that! Take a look at what some people are doing in their TCs: Swapping characters! Thats my favorite part, actually. Consider what other people are doing.... Reloaded: Thrawn Era, so probably lots of new cards Clone Wars TC: New cards all around relating to events in the prequels URPG: Supremacy: No star wars at all, but rather making a multigenre cast of characters. Grand Moff Conway puts himself into the game! Even if you dont want to do anything with Rebed to change the game's stats, then you can have fun replacing the pictures! I mean come on, who REALLY likes Shenir Rix, anyway?
  20. In Zeus' case though, he was actually sleeping with the woman. Greek Gods were more or less people with uber powers. Anakin's birth was from an all powerful presence, or field. Its possible that the midichlorians, under orders from the Force (whether the light side prophecy or Palpy/Plagueis' influence) were ordered to manipulate matter to fertilize an egg to the specifications. The midichlorians could function like Nanomites, breaking down and changing matter at an atomic level. This would explain how Anakin doesnt really look like Shmi, and also how the fertilization was done in the first place --change one of Shmi's chromosomes to another one with certain specifications. It could also explain how Mon Mothma's body was purged of poison--the Jedi used the force to tell the midichlorians to destroy the poison on a molecular level. Just a theory, but it might make sense. (again, if this is negated in the NJO books that I havent read then nevermind. I tend to think that whatever is in the movie, such as a definate distinction between a Light and Dark side trumps whatever is written in the books, but its all up to interpretation).
  21. "Or maybe I'm just a compulsive liar... You'll never know... " I didn't know you were related to Obi-Wan Kenobi, Thrawn! Anyway, its sad that the old SW actors are getting old and dying. It really does say something about the movie's fanbase though. Most actors with a role the size of Ozzel's wouldnt even be remembered, much less mourned. Thanks to the fans of the movies, however, he'll be remembered. I think its great.
  22. I thought for sure Palpy said that Plaugeuis could create life. And if Palpy says it, it must be true
  23. Today I was doing some voices for my characters and putting them into the Embrief.dll file. I decided to test out my voices and so I saved Reshacker and loaded up Rebellion. As soon as it loaded up, I could no longer bypass the briefing, and neither Agent was there! It was like all the animation and images from Embrief was gone! Please tell me how to fix this! Thanks!
  24. I figure the Force can create a child. The Force acts as "God" in the SW universe, and according to Christian beliefs, God can make a virgin birth, so I suppose the Force can, too. I figure GL was going biblical on us with Shmi Skywalker, it makes sense, since Anakin brought balance to the Force after shafting Palpy and then dying himself (NJO stuff aside). The Light Side of the Force is essentially God (of the Judeo/Christian/Islamic sense), and the Dark Side is more or less Satan (tempting, easier, but ultimately less powerful). Either way, the whole "how can the force make life?" argument is moot anyway because Darth Plagueis did it, and Palpy could have made Anakin using that method, or the Force got tired of waiting to exterminate the Sith and got the ball rolling by making Ani. We know it CAN be done, and I wonder if we're thinking about it too much if we wonder HOW it can be done
  25. I tried to convert to AVI, but it still said "Could not open filename.avi" in the Smacker program. Any ideas?
