  1. I knew someone would. Yeah, there's only two kinds of people: Those who like it, those who don't. I really liked the Two Towers, but RotK somehow failed to impress me. I, in turn, have to disagree with Barkoa: I really like two or three of the Star Trek movies. Yeah, everyone has their own preferences.
  2. Mhm, yeah, but it somehow lacks the typical Burton humor as well as whatever was important about the original PotA. I'll prefer BatmanI & II, Sleepy Hollow, Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and Big Fish over PotA.
  3. Aww, toooo many bad movies around. But, I'll try to remember recent ones. Hulk. WTF? League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Arrgh! Van Helsing. Waaarrh! ST: Nemesis. Yup, Star Trek used to be fun watching. LotR: RotK. Two Words: Boring. Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions. Need I say more? That said, Ed Wood was a great movie. Tim Burton rules (if you pretend Planet of the Apes never happened)!
  4. "Chimaera has lost its primaey bridge. She's running." "Thank you, Lieutenant." Ackbar said. He sat in the command chair of the Liberty, an island of calm in an ocean of chaos. The battle outside raged on, and the Rebels had suffered terrible losses among the smaller ships. Their ability to fight back starfighters had been reduced to half, and the rebel fighters' numbers were being reduced every minute. Again, an overwhelming number of TIEs spread out from the destroyers, their fuel tanks full, their equipment undamaged, their pilots fresh and alert, fighting damaged starfighters with tired pilots. This could not go well for long. He looked at the holoscreen as once again Orange group dove into the incoming swarm, their lasers blazing and killing imperial fighters at an impressive rate. Among the red indicators winking out of existence green dot vanished in that cloud as well. The bridge shook. "Two VSDs are targeting us, sir." the captain said. This was it, then. the rebel formation had been broken, and now the command ship was under fire. No use standing back and hiding anymore. "Mon Cemara, Mon Nuricos, Diligent and Starchaser, move to engage those destroyers." Ackbar ordered. "Black Coral and Spearhead, stay with Liberty. We're going in." The command cruiser, accompanied by the light cruiser and the frigate, moved towards the attackers, ahead were the two Calamari cruisers, one strike cruiser and one heavy frigate. They exchanged heavy turbolaser fire with the destroyers, who also had to fight with Dodonna's ship, which struggled to keep the starships away a few more minutes. "This is acting-Admiral Ackbar to squadron leaders. Our capital ship formation has been compromised. Anti-starfighter vessels decimated. Blue and Orange squadrons, cover our backs. Any other group able to respond, now is the time."[/i]
  5. The bridge of Liberty shook slightly as proton torpedoes struck the shields. The elite fighters on the rebel side had decimated the attacking bombers with ease, forcing them into close combat where rebel ships had the advantage over the unshielded TIEs, but a few had come through. The shields of the cruiser had sustained minimal damage, but Ackbar doubted they would even hold up for long once the capital ship lines came into firing distance with each other. The game, for now, was to stall. Buy the incoming reinforcements some time while regaining as much functionality as possible. Then, try to do as much damage to the enemy as possible before he achieved his inevitable victory. Status reports poured in from all over the bridge. The battle went better than predicted. For now. It would get ugly when the slugging matches between the larger ships began. "Hold your positions" he ordered to the fleet. "Let no imperial ship get behind you. The line of defense must not fall." The imperial destroyers moved towards the rebels' positions quickly. Ackbar took a deep breath as green fire poured in at the light cruisers and frigates ahead. "May the Force be with us."
  6. Uuh, sorry, I can't deliver my sound samples right now due to technical problems.. involving a broken cable...
  7. I might try some pilot lines as well. Haven't gotten any weird looks from my family lately, so I guess it's time to yell random status reports into my mic to change that.
  8. Hey everyone. Sorry for not being in the RPG in the last few days, I was experiencing a short phase of artfullness and had to paint. Hope I'll be available as soon as the action starts. No sooner than tomorrow, though.
  9. I think Energy Absorb is already in use. Remember Vader stopping a blaster bolt with his hand? Force energy shield anyone?
  10. Yep; in the end, old Entropy wins over anything.
  11. Black Holes have a temperature. They send out radiation, thus losing energy thus losing mass. Just not the same way normal objects radiate.
  12. ...which wouldn't do you any good, because you'd have to move faster than light to escape the surface of a black hole. And as much as I like all the sci-fi theories about FTL travel, it is currently widely accepted as one of the fundamental laws that no information can be transmitted faster than light, including, but not limited to, matter.
  13. I was responding to that. Sorry, should have made that more clear. Aww, this is not my time for humour. I should just leave it, right? ...losers...hmph. Now where were we?
  14. OOC: Was gone for some time; officially I was at Mon Cal, overseeing the repairs of the defenses. Also I think I agree with the SDs' thingies being sensor domes, but mostly I assume a compromise for them also serving the role of shield projectors for enhanced protection of the bridge. So, say, in case of the Executor, if the Bridge Deflector Screens (quote: Piett) were destroyed, only the normal shields that cover the rest of the ship were protecting the bridge. and if they are gone - Well, just my interpretation, trying to combine the two theories. IC: The holoscreen flicked to life and a blurry yet distinctive shape appeared - a human woman in white senator's clothes with dignified features. Her voice was warped due to the scrambling - a security measure used for all long-range transmissions. "Advisor Ackbar", she said, "how have you been since your return?" "Senator." Ackbar said, bowing slightly. He gestured at a young Calamari female next to him, only about half his size, looking curiously at the screen. "I was gone so long." he said. "I didn't even know I had a niece. Jesmin, say hello to Senator Mothma." The girl giggled and waved at the hologram, but remained silent. Mon Mothma smiled lightly. "I realize your call is associated with more than asking for my well-being." he said, gesturing for his niece to leave the room. "We are working on the repairs of the defense forces, but the last imperial attack hurt us badly. we have been able to recover the medium cruiser's hull and our most skilled technicians are working on building a new ship out of her, and two more passenger liners have been converted into light warships, but we've not been able to replace our losses." Mothma frowned and nodded. "I know. That is what I called you for. We need additional resources. Weapons, supplies, bacta, fuel. We cannot produce them, so..." "So you want us to...liberate them from the Empire." "Our target is a supply fleet that will meet with a patrol force soon. The coordinates and time will be given to you in a seperate transmission." Ackbar shook his head. "Why do you contact me? My work here is not yet finished. Surely your tacticians will see--" "The attack is already scheduled. I wanted you to join so we can demonstrate unity. The newly-gained Mon Calamari members fighting alongside our veterans. We were hoping you could spare one of your ships." Ackbar considered. He typed his datapad and looked at another screen. After a moment he returned his attention to the Senator. "I will bring in Liberty. But I must be allowed to finish my work afterwards." Mon Mothma nodded. "Thank you." She said, then her image faded.
  15. Uuh, what exactly do you mean? *is a bit slow today*
  16. Yah, right. Anyone care to join me in the IRC to fend off my boredom?
  17. Yah, it's a pity. I should look for a small job for oct-dec besides studying, so I can afford a new machine by the end of the year. But then... MWAHAHAHAHAAA! ...then I'd still suck at FPSs. But who cares.
  18. Not with my current computer I won't.
  19. I agree. Star Wars (and Babylon 5, which is just as good an example) are really more fantasy than sci-fi. They just use a sci-fi setting to tell a fantasy tale. That's what I like about them and that's why SW can never sucessfully be compared to the ST universe.
  20. Umm, if I may answer that with a cryptical reply - The universe is curved, and thus has finite size but no limits. It's pretty much impossible to imagine this as humans lack the ability of four-dimensional thinking... Try to imagine the 3 spatial dimensions being the flat iner side of a four dimensional sphere, curved into the fourth dimension...
  21. Yup, and against the Vong... Depends on what Borg you take. The original, Next Generation Borg just like to dissect technology. So they would have little interest in the Vong until they'd fire at the Borg (which they undoubtedly would). From then on it'd depent on how fast the Borg would adapt to Plasma weapons. Pretty fast, probably. Thos Borg could kill almost anything. The Voyager Borg, on the other hand, would try to assimilate the Vong themselves (and all their little animals). Those Borg, however, are pretty vulnerable to any kind of weapon (to give the Voyager a fair chance against several cubes) and don't deal much damage themselves. Those Borg would be killed by almost anything. Yah, I know my way around the Trek universe. I hate it and I love it.
  22. It was Star Trek IV; and I just realized I got a half finished SW/ST story around here somewhere too... Oops.
  23. I... want... the... original... trilogy. HC as Anakin with even more dialogue? NOOOOOOOO! PADME? you're kidding, right? Jar-Jar? Why. Just... Why. ... Yoda in CG?! Aw, c'mon! The puppet one was way better than the CG one! And Yoda in EpIV? That just isn't right. Any chance we're going to be able to blackmail the original trilogy out of GL?
  24. I'll post the evidence last friday. I just need 1.21 Gigawatts of electric power... I find the thought interesting that the 'aliens' around earth are really time travellers studying history. It's at least as improbable as actual aliens, but just as fun to think about.
