Accuser is in the game... Hmm... That seems like a strange choice to me, does anyone know who the captain of that ship was? I'd have thought they would have had the Devestator for an ISD hero ship, but thats just me.

Wait wait wait, 'Broadside' cruiser?
Stellar_Magic replied to TSKNF's topic in EAW General Discussion
Well, some ship classes in the Star Wars universe were a quick upgrade to earlier models. The Imperial III class is really just an upgrade kit for the old Imperial II. I mean the Chimaera is registered as both an Imperial III and II on a lot of sights. Perhaps some things will be upgradable and others not. Like maybe you can upgrade an MC80 to an MC80A, or an TIE Interceptor squadron to the mark II model with shields, but you can't upgrade a Z-95 to an X-wing or Victory Class to a Victory II Class. I'd love to upgrade through the entire lineage of the X-wing. T-65A... T-65A1 B... T-65A2 C... T-65A3 D... T-65XJ -
I always wished they had a button which simply was, advance! That way moving troops just into weapons range while keeping their formation would be easy.

I seriously doubt Lucas will let Skywalker end up on the chopping block, and reintroducing the sith is something that should be approached very carefully. My biggest problem is that it will become to much about internal pressures within the GFFA. While internal pressures may exist in the government with Cal Omas's restructuring and new constitution the GFFA should be much more stable then either the Old or New Republics due to the seperation of powers. I doubt you'll see many deaths in the Legacy series, and I also heard a rumor that they were being cancelled. Don't put too much hope in those books, and its quite possible that something new will come in and completely destroy those works. We've seen plot replacements before, although they aren't very common they do occur in the Star Wars franchise and some works are also ignored completely. I personally think the Star Wars universe needs new blood, they've become over reliant on a few authors since the inception of the NJO. Many of the really good authors don't get asked to do works, often times because they're more inventive, intelligent, or independent then others. I mean Zahn isn't doing anything for them, and the only one thats fairly good with words in the bunch doing legacy is Allston. The EU could easily die if this continues.

Watch this, it'll be the Carrack!!! Well here's a couple ships I think should be in the game which haven't appeared: Titan Class Cruiser Strike Cruiser Carrack Cruiser Lancer Frigate Executor Class Star Destroyer Tie Interceptor B-wing

No comments at all? Thats sad. Oh well. I'll keep working on it.

Yes, supposably half the Jedi got killed, but if you look at a cross section of all the Jedi Knights and masters we know about much less then 50% of those died. Killing of Leia and Han? Well I understand them vetoing that but what about Kyp Durron, Kyle Katarn, Corran Horn, Alema Rar, Lowbacca, Zekk, Tenel Ka, Tahiri Veila, or any others of the named jedi which survived. Considering that my current game plan includes killing off Lowbacca, Zekk, and Kyp Durron in the second installment of the story I'm working on and Tenel Ka in the third the losses and loss rate in the NJO doesn't seem nearly as bad. As to my qualities as a writer, Jedi Igor has read some excerts of my current work and Cain has read some of another story of mine.

Weak minded girlfriends, Mara is going to kill em.

Ugh... Must accelerate work on book to circumvent plot to destroy post-NJO Star Wars stories. Personally I think having the sudden changes in who has affections to who is just plain wrong. If you want to break Jag and Jaina up do it in a more sensitive manner and don't just abandon characters in the middle of nowhere. It makes those characters that have the sudden change in affections look bad, and when they look bad and less heroic people care less about them. Oh well, if I get my work published I'll probably PO alot of Tenel Ka's fans and Zekk fans. The storyline I've worked out for my own Post-NJO vision actually kills off both of them (Though it doesn't do it in the first book). Heck I even kill off Kyp Durron! As far as I was concerned the NJO didn't do the war justice, there should have been many more casualties then there were amongst the Jedi.

Which makes no sense when you consider that the High Council was formed specifically to keep the Jedi from loosing touch from the rest of the New Republic/GFFA. Cal doesn't seem in character in the book either, nor does the chiss ambassador. I can't recall ever seeing a chiss loose it before this. I really, really don't like this book and in many portions its exceedingly unclear. Tenel Ka and Jacen's relationship is never really displayed and I'm almost tempted to suggest that it was more a smokecover for Tenel to use to push away the suitors then a serious relationship.

Will EAW have one of the fatal flaws of other RTS games
Stellar_Magic replied to a topic in EAW General Discussion
At least Supreme Commander won't have that flaw from what I've read. Well, theres an easy solution, always have your units move and guard at the same time, therefore they'll stop and engage the enemy instead of just keep moving. -
I'm even more POed because I was working on a Post-NJO novel and I'm forced to accomodate this POS. Troy is such a moron... Lets just make a list of all the continuality errors in the book. 1. The Jedi are being led by a "Council of Masters", excuse me, what happened to the High Council? 2. Coruscant is inhabitable? Um, its not supposed to be yet. 3. Jaina Solo isn't in the military? Wait a minute, she's still a squad leader at the end of the NJO and there's strong hints she's planning to make it a career. 4. Leia is playing copilot with Han? I think that statement at the end of the NJO was in jest. 5. Wheres Danni? I mean you should have at least mentioned her, and what sort of relationship does she have with Jacen? Overall the feel of the situation doesn't seem to fit with the post NJO picture, its a period of rebuilding and reconciliation, none of which seems to actually be occuring in the book.

Will EAW have one of the fatal flaws of other RTS games
Stellar_Magic replied to a topic in EAW General Discussion
Hmm... That was something that always annoyed me as well, but I think most units in this game will be able to move and shoot at the same time, but don't quote me on that. -
Where are you from Siddus? This is an ice cream sandwich... http://www.nitro-pak.com/images/icecrmsand-lg.jpg

I hate these books... The writer tears apart established relationships, makes continuality errors constantly, and utterly destroys Jaina Solos character. This book never should have been written...

I'm still using a 1.6 ghz Pentium IV with 80GBs of Hard Drive Space and 512mb of RAM. With a Geforce 4 it works fine with most games. The only game I've got that pushes the computer to the edge is HW2: Star Wars: Warlords.
-
Maybe he's trying to run Warlords without any lag...
-
I'm guess the rebel ship designer involved in that mission is a traitor, thats why it keeps being interrupted/foiled.
-
Well, maybe the asteroid fields he's refering to are close in to the planet like the asteroids around Geonosis or he's talking about hitting other transports. While an ISD can carry alot it can't carry enough troops to take on every landing in which case its only logical to build transport ships like Star Galleons. If you can take them out you'll be able to severly cut the number of troops dropped on the planet, right?
-
It sounds like some ship designer for the rebel alliance has turned traitor with all those foiled occurances
-
But their development was triggered by the Vong invasion. If there are no vong then there would be no YVH Droids. If the game was post vong they'd certainly be in there, but it isn't therefore they aren't. As far as combat droids goes we may see some but they were primarily used by the Empire not the Alliance.

Rapora Wars: Stand Firm (Subplot RPG)
Stellar_Magic replied to Stellar_Magic's topic in Role Playing - 1
Darth Avarice closed her eyes as she thought. The battle for Ord Mantell had been far costlier then she'd anticipated, and that alone would have warranted her removal, or so she thought. Apparently the Timeless One disagreed, perhaps he knew more then she did. Or perhaps that was why her next assignment was so much more of a challenge, the fortress world of Garos IV was to be taken. A difficult task in of itself, but her orders were more specific then that, she was to limit imperial casualties as much as possible, and Avarice knew that it would be no small task. The Imperials were certain to try and assist in the defense of the world, and as far as defenses the world was one of the best defend in the Galaxy. Now she had to take it, and do it without loosing more of her prized Raporan warriors. That meant she had but one choice, cutting the warrior to droid ratio in her formations. Soon the Raporan fleet would be the droid fleet if losses continued as they had. * * * Cal Omas sipped at the cafe an aid brought to him as he listened to the Mandalorian leader Verice, "We're willing to guarantee your territorial claims and autonomy, but in order for your forces and ours to effectively operate against the Raporan threat we may require the placement of Mandalorian forces under Federation command." "That is understandable, but I must remind you that vice versa is just as possible, we have many skilled commanders of our own," Verice answered quietly. She smiled slightly, "It has come to our attention that a number of your fleets are currently being lead by inexperienced commanders. While Ioor is an able commander it worries us that the Fifth fleet lacks such a commander, surely the Rapora will attack along their front aiming to divide the Fifth from the Fourth fleet is certainly likely. We request that General Fett be placed in command of the force." "Fett?" Admiral Kre'Fey, "I suppose we can accomodate such an appointment, but General Niurk should remain with the fleet to serve as his second." Verice nodded, "Very well, we've decided that Seryk Roygher needs a command. We'll assign him as commander for the Mandalorian forces deploying with the Fourth fleet with the rank of Commodore. We've also decided to assign Karyn Kann to him as his chief aid." She smiled slightly, "I believe that Admiral Ioor will find they're skills to be of use." -
Rapora Wars: Breaking the Vagaari (Subplot RPG)
Stellar_Magic replied to Stellar_Magic's topic in Role Playing - 1
Captain Gerin Valinar starred in shock as the Alaga class dreadnaught Vagaari Spear exploded under the barrage from the Cyclical Death. Slowly he glanced around the bridge at his fellows, "The demons are at the helm." "Yes sir, they are." His first officer, Kralin Advarsh replied, the cold dread filling his voice, "They are ruthless and fiendish." "Silence!" An icy voice echoed from the back of the bridge as another Vagaari stepped into view. He wore the red badge of the Allegiance Cohort, "Speak another word and I shall execute you myself." "Yes Purpsh," Gerin replied under his voice as he turned away from the political officer. In a whisper he added, "You and your allegiance fellows will be the end of us." * * * Admiral Hirotek flipped through a dozen intelligence reports absently as a chime echoed in his room. With a sigh he tossed aside the datapad and tapped the comm, "Hirotek." "Admiral, its General Drask, he says he might have a target for us." "Send him in," Hirotek replied as he leaned back behind the desk. A moment later the doors hissed open and the aging chiss officer stepped into the room. He saluted stiffly, "Admiral." "Please sit down Drask," Hirotek answered without returning his salute. "Thank you sir," Drask answered as he sat in the chair before him, "One of our probes produced some... interesting information." "Really," Hirotek replied, "What sort of information?" "The Rapora are running a convoy of Vagaari ships through the Altrus system, apparently one of the ships failed to head to Raporan orders and was destroyed," Drask smiled, "If you wanted to get some Vagaari to defect this may be your best opportunity. They're only escorted by a single Savla class." * * * Commodore Athien sighed as she waited for the docks at Dresnak to finish loading the last of her supplies onto the Freedom of Thought. Slowly she turned her head as the soft click of a claw against the floor echoed in the cooridor leading to the bridge. With a hiss General Veran stopped beside her, "We are ready." Athien nodded, "Set course for Epsilon base."
