  1. Dude, the Interdictor you posted isn't whats going to be in game. What you posted is a Dominator class Star Destroyer, what we'll get is the Interdictor Cruiser.
  2. Another problem I have with it is that it sounds like Rebel Starfighters won't be able to conduct attacks independent of capital ships, which s****. That would have been one of the main advantages the rebels would have held, being able to conduct hit and fades with fighters, this no longer seems to be a very likely scenario.
  3. It's also kind of sad. It makes me wonder if starfighter squadron production for the rebels will be along a similar lines. It also makes me wonder if starfighters are even buildable in the Galactic mode and only appear during the tactical level of gameplay.
  4. General Drask shook his head as the two shuttles slid into the hanger. Seeing the two ships, one of UDA design and one of Imperial conception struck a chord with him. He'd been shocked by his experience onboard Outbound Flight by just how effective the Empire of the Hand's soldiers had been. But the Empire of the Hand were amateurs compared to the United Defense Alliance. Thrawn had thrown the best and the brightest of more then the Imperial Navy and Chiss Ascendancy. There were members from all but extinct groups, the Son's of Liberty, the Vagaari, and even a few Vaathkree. They had been molded into the best fighting force he'd ever seen, worthy enemies for the Raporan war machine. As Commodore Athien and Admiral Hirotek met Drask smiled slightly, few people best represented the forces arrayed against the Rapora then those two. Hirotek, a former Mandalorian and an Admiral in the GFFA. Athien, daughter of the Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn founder of the UDA, a force sensitive that could equal most of the Jedi in scattered across the galaxy. Now he had news to report, "Sirs." Drask cleared his throat, "We have a situation here." Hirotek frowned, "What?" "Because of the defection of the three dreadnaughts, the Rapora have rounded up three thousand Vagaari for public execution." Drask shook his head, "They're hoping that such a display with force obedience in their forces." "Rule through fear," Athien shook her head, "He's never learned."
  5. General Fett's plan had been simple. Utilizing a force of interdictors deployed at the extreme edges of the Rapora's projected path at a dozen different points he'd been able to strip the fleet and string it out like a set of pearls. Now he had a clear shot at the real prize, the convoy of light ships and Vagaari vessels which formed the life blood of the Raporan fleet. Foodstuffs, combat gear, replicators, and replacement stuffs were crammed into their ships. A pair of the larger Savla class cruisers had been stripped of their super-plasma cannons and retroffited with cargo pods. Still it was a formidable force, one which he could barely challenege with his fleet fragmented to delay the arrival or Raporan aid. It was a gamble, and Fett knew it. But now he had his pray in his sights. * * * Darth Avarice smiled as the reports from the ground came in. Already the battle was winding down into a mopping up operation, the GFFA forces had evacuated to the Imperial fleet and fled or been captured. The so called "Fortress" world of Garos IV had fallen in less then eight hours of sustained combat. Now the Empire was severed from her allies, and soon the sickness of their treason to their leader and history would bear fruit.
  6. Time for Lazerus to rise again... I think.
  7. Hell, any X-wing or Tie Fighter sequeal would rock if they put in a true dynamic campaign. I'd love to turn the tide of the war by blowing up the Millenium Falcon or Darth Vader's Tie Advanced in a mission and watching the carnage that would ensue.
  8. Well the CC: 4400 from SWR could be placed in the time frame, there's so little we know about that class. Also, read the Thrawn Trilogy, it seems that interdictor cruisers project a Gravitational Cone. Which means that their hyperspace dampening effect is limited to the area in which the projectors are pointing. If you're outside that area, you can still enter hyperspace. (I doubt they'll have this in game) As for who should have better capital ships... With the exception of Mon Calamari Cruisers most Rebel vessels should be far inferior to their imperial counterparts. Not the other way around.
  9. Still, Griff was in overall command. It was his fault.
  10. Okay, I see why the "Katana Fleet isn't such a big deal." Type thing keeps showing up, but you have to remember that in the Thrawn series most all the combat actions depicted are between about a hundred vessels at most. Also those 200 Dreadnaughts went straight to the front instead of being used keeping the peace and pacifying imperial space, whereas the New Republic was so stripped for ships to fight when they had to conduct pirate hunting, peace keeping, and ferrying missions that in the climatic battle of the series the New Republic can only dispatch two sector fleets to take out the Bilbringi shipyards. I'd guess that such a force would only amount to 60-120 combat vessels. If Thrawn had used the entire Katana fleet by itself he might have been able to win. With the addition of heavier combat ships he is almost guaranteed to win.
  11. Yeah well in this case, I think Admiral Griff deserved what he got. I mean, could you be any more dumb then flying three ISDs straight into the side of an SSD?
  12. 200 Dreadnaughts, need we say any more?
  13. Well for fighters in the Imperial Fleet... V-wing is possible (Great they have two craft with the same name, dumb LEC) Jedi Starfighters (Technically most of the models were designed for the open market so non-forceusers could utilize them) T.I.E. Fighter (Very first model produced, supposably used by the Republic during th Clone Wars) TIE Fighter (Vessel seen in ANH) TIE/In Fighter (Vessel seen in ESB and ROTJ)
  14. This argument as to the nature of the sensor globes or shield generators has been going on for awhile and finally I ran across a possible solution to the debate. I was looking through the Star Wars: Essential Locations and ran across their analysis of the Executor's command tower. In it calls the "Shield Generators" Sensor domes, but the prongs seen on the top of the sensors have been described as shield projectors. This finally explains how the destruction of the sensors on the Executor took down the bridge shields. It means that the shields were emitted from those prongs on top of the dome to protect the bridge. The sensor's destruction made the bridge vulnerable to the final attack which cost the Executor and its crew they're lives.
  15. Well I'm thinking of making it so that some of the really huge ships require possession of multiple worlds. For example, I think I'll make it so you're required to possess both Fondor and Kuat to be able to construct Super Star Destroyers. Since the possibility that hardpoints will be customizable it means that another layer of companies may come into play. Say possession of Taim & Bak facilities will be required to select certain types of hardpoints. The same may even be true of construction of ground facilities, like the KDY Ion Cannon the rebels use and the LNR series made by Golan Arms (I think its a Golan design) may be available on the black market, but I'd think possession of Kuat and the Golan corporation would drastically cut construction costs for those units. Other units will require possession of two or more corporations. Clone Stormtroopers equipped with Blastech E-11s will need both Kamino and a Blastech facility.
  16. Actually there's a lot of examples in the EU of ships being customized for specific mission assignments. Having upgrades to existing ship hardpoints probably would have been common place. I remember some intelligence types talking about identfying ships by specific upgrades on vessels in the Black Fleet Crisis books. The good news with this is that it sounds like the likelyhood of us being able to name individual ships is higher. I mean how hard would it be to edit a string for the name of a vessel compared to customizing the loadout of each hardpoint?
  17. If the tech tree ends at the Battle of Yavin why do the Imperials get the interdictor cruiser? I mean, I don't think it was deployed until the Imperial Pursuit of the rebels leading up to Hoth.
  18. OMG, I just had a horrible realization. In several of the screenshots we've seen you can see what appears to be the Mon Calamari Cruiser Independence a.k.a. Home One. Why is this bad? Well... Home One is a 3 kilometer long behemoth of a Mon Calamari ship. Therefore the side with the "Largest Capital Ship" in the game will be the Rebels... THATS JUST WRONG!!!
  19. Hmm... How unbalancing would a fully equipped SSD be in game? Lets look at some stats from the Warlords mod: Executor class Super Star Destroyer: 250 Heavy Turbolasers 250 Turbolasers 250 Ion Cannons Mon Calamari Star Cruiser (MC-80): 48 Turbolasers 48 Ion Cannons This means that about 10 Mon Calamari Cruisers can tackle an Executor. Just ten 1.2 km long converted space liners could challenge this 19km long behemoth. I'm sure that an SSD would be allot harder to produce and much more expensive then its opposition. Really going to show just how absolutely pointless the craft really is.
  20. Well after seeing just how much CG is in the newest generation of successful Sci-Fi series I'd have to say that making an X-wing series would probably cost less then making Battlestar Galactica or even the newest generation of Stargates. The thing with CG costs is that the vast majority of the man hours into putting together a CG effect is in creating the 3D models. After the models are built the hardest part is already behind them and we all know that there are enough movie quality 3D models of X-wings, TIEs, and Star Destroyers around to fill cyberspace. Look at IMPS: The Relentless and the amount of high quality CG effects that are in it. Then think about how all of that was done by people in their spare time. It would be relatively easy for a major production company to create a viable Rogue squadron series. I mean that just looking at the recent success of Battlestar Galactica, there clearly is a market for a Squad based series. Even more of one that is like the Rogues and does allot more then fight in space.
  21. Talk about a Fan Film that beats ILM, sweet... Get it now! www.impstherelentless.com I can't wait for the next chapter to come out!
  22. Yeah well in response to some of the comments... The average age of flight sim players is much higher then other games (Partially because it takes so much more time and practice to master flying), so I'd think a well designed flight sim would more likely be wanted by the fans of the original trilogy then the new stuff. In terms of flight sims there have been a few very successful ones recently, IL2 and its sequeals and spin offs for one. Janes is still kicking as well. The thing is designing a Star Wars flight sim with the same features as those would be much more difficult. I'd love to see one made though.
  23. You guys know that SG: Alliance got canceled.
  24. OMG... I just downloaded and watched the first chapter, and well... I WANT MORE! Talk about the next generation of Star Wars Fanfilms!!! This is amazing! GET IT NOW: http://www.impstherelentless.com What do you think guys? We should get em to do a sequeal on the other side of the fence... REBS: The Liberty?
  25. Eville Jedi, me and a friend were attempting to play Warlords over a LAN connection. After a couple of minutes in game my machine suffered a system crash. We attempted this several times with the same result. Could this be due to some sort of sync issue?
