  1. Depending upon the manner in which a game is set up at start, it may be possible to make sure that the Empire possesses Kuat and Sienar Fleet Systems while the Rebels get Mon Calamari and Incom. I'll also make it so some units may be purchased on the Black Market with Highly Inflated prices after the construction of a Black Market Embassy (For lack of a better term).
  2. Which is ironically exactly what a rebellion usually ends up being like. Actually set up this way you have to use much more strategic thought in order to win. You have to build up an infrastructure by building factories for specific units. To build E-11 equipped troops you have to take the planet where Blastech is based, then construct a corporate headquarters for Blastech on the worlds you want to use, then if its available, construct a Blastech E-11 Factory. Some units will require the possession of facilities from multiple corporations. These joint venture projects include the heaviest of starships such as the Eclipse, Executor, Vengeance, and Sovereign. For example, the Executor requires construction of a KDY Star Dreadnaught Shipyard which requires possession of both Fondor and Kuat.
  3. Constructing a Droid Army doesn't require the cooperation of the Geonosians, it only requires acquiring the technology which happens to be located on Geonosis and Kessel. Historically the Rebels did build Star Destroyers whenever they could. The NR fleet during the NJO had the SSD Guardian as its flagship after all. The problem for the rebels will be wrestling control of those facilities away from the Empire. KDY built alot more then Star Destroyers, they built AT-ATs and AT-STs so the securing and defense of the Kuat Star System will be of utmost importance to the Empire. Heck the Ion Cannon used at Hoth was of Kuat Drive Yards Manufacture. Much the same is true for the Rebels, while Mon Calamari was never secured by the Empire a number of vessels of the MC-40 class fell into the hands of pirates and system defense forces. Also Grand Admiral Thrawn attempted to steal a number of Mon Calamari Cruisers at Sluis Van. If the Empire would have been able to secure Mon Calamari it is almost certain that the Rebels would be facing an Imperial fleet equipped with Mon Calamari Cruisers. AT-AP: Which vessel are you specifically talking about? Cruisers and Battlecruisers would be like the Titan, Tyrant, and Allegiance Class. The only ship on the list that is very light is the Vengeance class SSD.
  4. Amen! Welcome aboard EvilleJedi.
  5. Hurray!!! EvilleJedi has joined us, none can stand in our way. Welcome to the NMA, How may I be of assistance?
  6. JMaster, you really need to go read some Star Wars books. I'd suggest the Thrawn Trilogy.
  7. I think they're pretty good, but the models in Warlords seem much more accurate then the ones Petroglyph made. Of course Eville's models are murder on most computers though.
  8. Well I think both me and Juggernaught are planning on adding cloning facilities...
  9. Well... Possession of some of the outer rim systems (Specifically Kessel and Geonosis) will enable the restarting of a few rather well known technology trees. You can rebuild the Trade Federation Baktoid Factories and restart Battle Droid Production. Because we're using a corporation base for tech tree's it will be possible for the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire to construct any vessel in the Star Wars Galaxy so long as they possess the necessary facilities. The Executor will not be alone in the Star Dreadnaught class. I'm planning to add a large number of Dreadnaught class vessels including the Clone War's Era Mandator, Vengeance, Eclipse, and Sovereign Classes.
  10. Go ahead and join, I'll help you out if I can. The more people join the better. What units are you adding?
  11. Well, all walkers and tanks will be buildable by either side just so long as you have control of a production facility or corporation that builds the units. Thats why a large number of rebel vehicles are on the list as well. If you're Imperial and manage to secure the construction facilties for those vehicles there is no reason you can't build them.
  12. You'd think they'd spot it optically at least.
  13. Don't be surprised if he offers up his models to most anyone, he tends to be nice that way. (And most everyone can recognize the quality of his work) I do know that he was somewhat disappointed by the lack of full 3 Dimensional control in EAW. We'll just have to talk to him. P.S. Is Eville a moderator here or merely a member. He'd be a welcome addition to the moderating body I'm sure.
  14. I want to include Real or Reality in the title to make sure they know what the aim is.
  15. By Warlords do you mean the original Rebellion version? I guess either way it means we'll have access to the demigod of Star Wars modeling. All hail EvilleJedi!
  16. Just an announcement. I'll be recommencing work on ST vs SW over the thanksgiving break. Expect a new episode soon!
  17. I'm in, and so is my mod! You wouldn't by chance be considering recreating RDBII's the Protectorate Mod series for EAW?
  18. Star Wars: Empire at War Reality Mod Reality of Rebellion Mod Aim: The creation of a canonical modification of the game Empire at War to reflect the complex realities of fighting against a Rebellion as well as the reality of combat as depicted in the films and expanded universe. Feature List: Unit abilities and effectiveness varies based on their level of training. Accurate weapon ranges and damage for all arms, both ground and air. A company based technology tree where the production of units is determined by which corporations you have control of. Additional units from both the Original Trilogy, Prequels, and Expanded Universe. Heroes no longer are revivable. Additional worlds and heroes. Rescaling of all units to reflect their actual size as well as new hard-points or perhaps even models for all the units. Officers, Heroes, and Legendary Units improve the effectiveness of nearby units.
  19. Well, I haven't had the time to play with this thing. I sort of forgot about it completely.
  20. Man triple post... Isn't anyone going to comment? I've started a unit list. Unit List: Each unit comes in nine separate versions: Untrained, Basic, Trained, Highly Trained, Elite, Heroic, Legendary, Clone, and Spaarti Clone. Training When you select a unit for construction you are faced with a choice, how well trained of a formation do you want. As you would expect the better trained the unit the greater accuracy it has in combat, but more then just accuracy is affected. Beginning with units which are heroic the unit also affects the ability of its neighbors increasing their accuracy much in the same way that some heroes affect their troops. The more highly trained a unit the longer it takes to construct and the more expensive it will be you have to pay for all those extra man hours after all. Clones Construction of Clone units requires possession of Kaminoan Clone Facilities, and Spaarti Clones require possession of Spaarti Cloning Centers. Clones take about seven game years to produce, and feature all the abilities of a Highly Trained unit with the addition of extra health and double the accuracy. Spaarti Clones take approximately one and a half years to build at game start, however if you possess Myrkr you can research yslamari gathering and cut the build time to two game weeks. A Spaarti Clone possesses all the abilities of a Legendary Unit, with slightly better health and accuracy. The Galactic Empire Ground Forces: Infantry: Anti-Armor Teams Small two man teams armed with concussion missile launchers, proton torpedo tubes, concussion rifles, or disruptors. Anti-Armor teams are a vital part of combat for infantry formations, without them it is almost certain that an attack supported by walkers or hovertanks will succeed. Stormtrooper Anti-Armor Team (Golan FC-1 Flechette Launcher) Stormtrooper Anti-Armor Team (Merr-Sonn PLX-2M) Stormtrooper Anti-Armor Team (Stouker Armaments Concussion Blast Rifle) Army Anti-Armor Team (Golan FC-1 Flechette Launcher) Army Anti-Armor Team (Merr-Sonn PLX-2M) Army Anti-Armor Team (Stouker Armaments Concussion Blast Rifle) Fleet Anti-Armor Team (Golan FC-1 Flechette Launcher) Fleet Anti-Armor Team (Merr-Sonn PLX-2M) Fleet Anti-Armor Team (Stouker Armaments Concussion Blast Rifle) Command Teams Armed with pistols or rifles, one of the most important elements of any military formation is its officer cadre. Deployed in teams of five, close combat infantry have little use except as cannon fodder for urban warfare. That’s why the light repeater teams are so important, they can fire while moving and support advancing rifle teams. These Light Repeater Teams are often a small force of only two troopers armed with their weapons. 21. It's evil Luke, what can you say?
  22. True, thats why I said, I don't know.
  23. Not really, there will be tons of gameplay differences from each mod, I'm sure. The thing is I know you guys will want to have your own models in each mod, but you'll also be hammered by popular demand for your modification. You might be tempted to use the models offered by others in the interim so that you could get a Beta version out as quickly as possible. There will probably be just as many versions of some ships as there are modelers on the site. I could just imagine surfing through and see thirty or more versions of an Imperial II Star Destroyer. Another thing is that depending upon the modular nature of the game it may be possible that you could download mods that add individual units. An SSD may only require a script file and a skinned model placed in base folder. We simply don't know.
  24. I personally agree that it should be that way, but I anticipate it won't be. It's just not in the style of the guys that made C&C.
  25. Are you sure you want to pick my brain, Mesier Cain? We're talking about creating an organization that will act as a central hub for the modding community at large. A place for modders to contact each other and communicate. I've often found that the greatest problem with modding is assembling a proper team, and in order to create such a team you have to find people with the skills you need. Another problem I've run into is modders who are unwilling to share information to assist others, be it coding, models, or general game information. We'll want the members of this organization to be those who are more then willing to help. Another concept to think about would be creating a database of sorts where models, animations, scripts, and code created by modders is posted and the only limit of utilizing the material is the proper citation of the modder or mod in the modification. By creating such a database we could be able to create a close working relationship between the individual modders and large scale mod concepts. Say for instance, Juggernaught's Legacy of War mod is looking for a model for the Enforcer Class Cruiser because his own modeler is overloaded by work or RL issues. It just so happens that a modeler from Imperial Assault 2 posts a model for an Enforcer Cruiser for download. Juggernaught's mod team takes the model, tweaks it for their own use and utilizes it in its mod. The situation could also be easily reversed where Imperial Assault 2 downloads and uses a model from Legacy of War. With models and by default modders sharing information its certain that major modifications would take less time due to the availability and sharing of data. A similar phenomenon has occured within the Homeworld 2 Modification Community. Many mods other then Warlords have begun incorporating parts of his mod because he offers up the information and models upon request. I've seen EvilleJedi's Ion Cannon effect script used by a number of different mods, several of which have nothing to do with Star Wars. By making it a central element of the mod community it will also give the Devs a direct route of communication between themselves and the modders. In many ways you could think of modifications and their popularity as a means of market research. Just look at how Counter-Strike got started! Modders may come up with efficient means of working with the engine that the devs had not considered and would want to incorporate in the creation of the next generation game. For this reason I'd really hope that the mods will be willing to share their scripting, both to help the developers and other modders. You know what... this is starting to sound like some open-source type community... Cool!
