  1. that could be... how could I check? I did install a few models with 3 levels, but only 2 texture files. By the way Mask, what are your computer's stats? I'm using a P4 1Ghz, .75gig Ram, 128mb geforce video, with a 1.3 trikahertz smacky card.
  2. Hmmm.... In that case I MUST have it in my TC. I seem to have everything ELSE that makes a TC crash in it!!! Must collect the whole set! "But Chimera, you're collecting doggy doo!" No matter fool! I HAVE THE WHOLE SET!!!! BWHAHAHAHAHAHA (man, I love this flu medication... you gotta try some )

  5. Anyone know which models make Rebellion crash at the end of a tactical match? I've tried pairing the Ecilpse and Sovereign down to 9k polygons. Unfortunately, Reb is still crashing, and I'm not sure if it is still one of them or the MC40, MC80b, MC90, Homeone, MC Viscount, etc. Or do I just have too many new models installed? Is there a total limit?
  6. How do you change bitmaps (bmp) to binary (bin) files? I think I need to make my textures bin's to install them, and I dunno how. Thanks!
  7. cool. I went to your website. Interesting info. It seems that if we could switch the code to make other planets belong to the empire (make them little coruscants) it would probably also make them HQs, which would either make the game crash, or make it so when you took any of the planets you would qualify for HQ victory :/ Interesting info tho'! Thanks!

I got the models revised (all now have a polygone count of 1-5k rather than .02k ), and also have 1 more (Chiss Bloodfire), AND I've cut down the existing Eclipse and Soveriegn models to be under 10k.   9. Well... I've finished the model. It's my 4th from scratch for this darned TC, so I can't say I slaved over it Especailly since I tried also pairing down the Eclipse and Sovereign to under 10k to see if I could get them to work in tactical mode. That's 6 ship model edits! I'm getting tired of editing polygons... I wanna play my game! Now I just have to get a website to put all this junk up for the rest of you. I have an idea for 2 more chiss ships... Ones that are interesting visually and tactically. I may make a sequel and put them in it... I have a fun idea for the sequel, but we'll see if I get the time!

One of my biggest Rebellion editing wants is that I would really, sincerely, love to be able to specify: Ideally = Who gets what planets at the outset Ok = The ratio of planets each side gets (the Empire always gets waaay too little) I think the ratio might be do-able, because there is definately a difference from easy-to-medium-to-hard. So there's GOT to be a way to edit that ratio. Being able to define who gets what planets... since Coruscant & Yavin are predefined it may be possible to do more..? Otherwise... the more editing power, the better.
  11. detection rating? Interesting priorities.... So, the AI "thinks" every once in awhile, huh? I wonder how the programers tried to get it to make a balanced fleet... Big ships - plus - troop carriers - plus Anti-Fighter ships... - plus Interdictors. Your detection rating observation sheds light on why I've seen fleets of Interdictors before. I thought that Interdictors can yank ships out of hyperspace for inspection, so they should have the largest detection rating. The AI must have thought it had died and gone to heaven.... all of these cheap high detection rated ships . Surely, this must be the fleet to end all fleets! Then I killed them all
  12. Just goes to show you... Into everyone's life, a little coffee must fall. I've had similar experiences where I send 8 groups of X-wings against an ISD and somehow they all get shot down. Only this was in tactical mode. Never did figure that one out.... Usually the auto-calculate works best. Maybe it was because you were using a Rebel VSD and the auto-calc choked on it? We do not know the mysteries of the auto-calc. Use it wisely, young warrior.
  13. mask - it could be a separate editor than one that deals with cards... I think we already have the ability to do everything with cards that we want to, right...? I'm talking about do things with naming ships and changing other aspects of the game. Kind of like your ship installation program. Think... think of the time savings you would reap! Seriously though, I know what it is like to be overwhelmed by deadlines. I'm not asking anyone to take on a burden they can't shoulder. If you can, great! If you have the knowledge typed up somewhere and want to offer it to others who are willing to either whip it into a help file or even make a program out of it, great! Mebbe one day, I'LL have the time to actually go through and try to compile all of the bits and pieces of wisdom/insight scattered through these forums into one big file. Maybe...
  14. I hear ya Evaders... I know I could not begin to volunteer a programming task like that. A help page at least would be great. We could fumble thru on our own with Resource Hacker. If the email/document pieces for a help page exist... if it's all scraps and shards locked up in someone's head or even 10 people's heads, then I can see how that would seem like an unfair request. If you send me the bits, I can do what I can to make it readable/usable.

  16. Does the AI recognize ships/ship cards or does it operate by ship slots? Basically, can it recognize and deal well with new ships, or is it programmed to respond to ship slots? I think it is probably mixed, and was wondering if anyone knew when and where it only uses the ship slot to decide something versus the actual ship statistics. (Ie. you put a SSD into the Galleon slot, and tries to build 10 like it was building Galleons. Or in battle it sends the SSD against fighters instead of capital ships, etc.) I've noticed it seems to respond to ship cost (will build more DS if cheaper) and will load up a fleet to close to capacity once the fleet is built, so it can kind of recognize troop capacity once they are built. My major concern is that it has fleet construction recipes (like 2 transports for every capital ship) that are slot based, not statistic based. I haven't seen too many SSDs directed at Y-wings versus Mon Cals. Any eye-witness accounts that could help? (wish we still had that side-switching program that let you see the AI in action)
  17. I've noticed many comments in threads like "ship names" and elsewhere that evidently a lot more about Rebellion (the game) has been mapped, explored, and can be changed. Is there plans to incoporate these findings into a new editor? (or at least a new help page?)

  19. No one is asserting that he was fighting anything BUT his own demons/tendency to fall to the dark side in the movie. I am only suggesting that if he had not taken his lightsaber in to the cave, he might have had a different experience. Yoda seemed to suggest that. Cain, I think you're right. We should change the TC. It's going to be too confusing for Luke to see something else in the cave. By the way, THANKS FOR THE AVATAR!
  20. Well... Like an Ewok with a big stick, we may get their attention. We may not get the same results, though... We do have to appreciate the fact Lucas let's this site exist... I've heard of some corporations totally shutting down fan websites that do nothing but rave about how wonderful a TV show is, all because they have pictures of the show on the website. Seems like usiing a cannon to shoot yourself in the foot, but what do I know.
  21. Trejiuvanat - sounds like a great TC! Hope you post it... About TC's, I've noticed that when I load different versions of mine the ship models don't load. I assume we need to offer people the tactical.dll in addtion to the reb setting? Texas_Fett - the encyclopedia was actually what brought me to this site (I was using a search engine and it listed an swrebellion encyclopedia entry). I also thought the encylopedia was kinda lacking... but then again it was scrounging around the website that helped me discover RebEd and the rest.
  22. What weirds me out is that with a few tweaks, a Rebellion 2 could be made with one important difference that Lucas would LOVE. Just adopt the basic appeal of RebEd... give the ability to switch in-and-out cards to the consumer. Then Lucas could sell (or offer for download for a small fee) several expansion packs of new ships, characters, ect. There's thousands of possible cards, especially given different time periods. He could make a mint just like Pokemon, Majic, etc. The only thing I can figure is maybe Star Wars playing cards didn't do well or something (anyone know? I see them all over and he gave away free ones in Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds to fuel interest).
