  1. what you once knew has changed. download rebed. you might be pleasantly surprised.
  2. I'm redoing my models to be spiffier, and I ran into something that I can't figure out. I followed the steps on the help page, just like I've done a dozen times before. My model shows up fine in RebEd, but it is still the old model in the game. I've checked, and I'm saving the tactical.dll file. Help!
  3. ds - cool. By the way, are you the model texture expert of the three? I may have just figured it out (8 hours well spent HA! ) but I may have questions. BTW my free time is variable and unpredictable (I do a lot of freelancing). It is probably best to contact me via my email here, but here's an alternate: ChimaeraChiss@hotmail.com
  4. Thanks for the help Mask! I just submitted my first cards today with help of the card submitter file thing... Worked pretty good. 2 pics out of 11 got a little garbled with the automatic shrinker, but the time savings was tremendous! I am very psyched to give a little something back to a group that I've been getting files from for the last 6 months or so. Thanks! I think the cards are decent quality. Occasionally I get the blue halo effect on some screens, and sometimes I would have a beautiful photo get pixelated (I fixed most of that) when I would import it into Rebellion. Feel free to let me know what you think!
  5. The Rebed directory (Rebellion Editor directory) is created when you extract the Rebellion Editor file from this website (http://swrebellion.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=1) Have fun!
  6. to Cain: Sounds like a complicated plot, but I can give it a try! I assume the game will begin with the Emperor/Admiral returning to his original dimension? Or will the "Luke goes to Dagoba" event be rewritten as the Emperor goes to another dimension? (If so, you'd have the problem of the game starting without the Emperor on Coruscant...) Is there any way to disable the "Luke goes to Dagoba" event? 'Cause it would make TC writing a lot easier. As for my TC... I just downloaded gmax (took all night, I've got a lousy ISP). I'll see if I can make sense of it, and then give my models another go... I'll also look into swapping the special event pictures and most of the sounds.
  7. No. They suck. I only had milkshape for a month, had to learn from scratch, and did not have a lot of free time to work on them. Basically just a bunch of cylinders, rectangles, triangles and trapezoids stuck together then merged. Then I sized them to be about right, colored 2 grey and 1 red. It was fine for my purposes, because I'm more into the story. Anyone know a good place to get an easy to use model builder that's free or cheap? Maybe I'll suck it up and actually subscribe to Milkshape...
  8. GL's a funny guy. Sometimes he treats SW like it's his deepest love, sometimes like it's his baby, and sometimes like it's bum on the street. That dedication to detail is amazing thought. Kudos to GL.
  9. cain - I tried to download the "real settings v1" once and it said the website was unavailable. Does it still exist? Thanks! Looking forward to your new TC. If you'd like me to write up a story or descriptions, just send me the information and let me know! I'd be happy to be a protocal droid, just DON'T call me c3po
  10. Cain - sorry about the Trek misunderstanding. I had it wrong. And thanks for the encouragement, but I think I won't bother uploading it. There doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm beyond you for this TC. One of the excellent votes was me, and I did that just so the website would let me see the results It was fun to do though. Good luck with your TCs. Your enthusiasm is a great assest that will take you far! Mask - thanks for you fighter email! I have not figured out how to import the model, but I never look at fighters that close for it to matter to me. The picture was great though. Also thanks for your encouragement. I'm looking forward to rebellion-reloaded (and rebellion 2 if they are still working on that). I wish there was a way to delete this thread as the website suggests, but I have not been able to find it. Oh well.
  11. Oops. I had no idea that we weren't supposed to play with the plot. After all, the game itself is desined for alternative endings... Hmmm... suddenly my desire to distribute this thing is fading... Oh well. It was fun for me. Thanks for everyone who contributed to rebed and the cards! It has given me countless hours of fun!
  12. - What are good ships to built at the start? Should i build transports for troops? if yes, what typ? Medium Transports? Bulk ships? or what? One thing I learned only after a long time was that if you have no resources (the middle # at the top next to the refinery picture) then EVERYTHING slows down. So if you have a few transports and some fast ships, you probably don't have an immediate need for ships. You may want to try not building anything (if your resources are 0) so you can focus on getting mega-construction planets up and running, defenses built, etc. -what are good ships alter in the game? Which shipts are really bad and shouldn't be constructed (please tell me which one are really bad) tk-"Bulk cruisers are worthless ships. Dreadnaughts are not worth your building time" Amen, I get rid of them when I'm editing the game. Anti-fighter ships are good to build because they're resonably fast to cart around characters, and if you group 2-3 you can often hit a planet, kill the fighters, and then send your characters in to sabotage troops/defenses/construction capacity. - which ships are areally slowing down my fleet? Use reb editor on this site to peruse the hyperdrive settings. 50 is Han's special ability, and 100 is the slowest (100% travel time... 50=50% travel time, etc.) - where to put all characters from yavin to? should i try to defend yavin and get this sector or should i try to move all of them to another sector? Often the Empire drops in on Yavin. It can see you characters were there and wants them. I usually send Han+Leia+Luke to the new rebel base because they can recruit there and it's best to recruit at a 100% loyalty planet. I take Chewy too, just to do espionage on the rebel base and see if any imps are enroute. If Wedge is at Yavin and you have shipyards at your new rebel base, take Wedge with Han so he can get started on ship research. Disperse diplomats (like Jan) to planets you want to take (put them on corellian corvettes if you have them at Yavin). - should i focus mainly on the 3 main sectors (if i play small galaxy) or shoul i try as the alliance to get one or more sectors outside to build up my power? It's more fun to focus on the outer rim and let the empire get a decent power base going. Remember, uprisings can lead to revolts, and if one plaent revolts other planets in the sector get pushed towards you. - is it better to have one planet with 8 shipyards or two with 4? what makes more sense? Both. 8 to make big ships, 4 to make small ships/fighters. Don't make too many mega construciton sites because you need resources too. The balance is hard to find.
  13. What files are needed for TCs and Models? Just want to make sure I do it right the first try. As for cards, I know I downloaded some file somewhere that helps you do it... now to find that file...
  14. Support is welcome, thanks! you never offended me Cain something must have lost in the translation. I am very hard to offend.
  15. Thrawn’s Betrayal: The Chiss Awakening Index 1-Basic Idea 2-Back Story 3-What’s new 4-Balance/Gameplay hints 5-Problems/Inconsistencies 1-The basic idea is: Luke turned to the Dark Side, the second Death Star is completed, and Mon Mothra is dead. Thrawn discovers the Emperor's next plan for total domination is to conquer the last great empire: The Chiss. He returns to his home and begs forgiveness (he was exiled before) in return for Imperial technology and the information that the Empire is planning to attack. The Chiss agree to forgive Thrawn, and reach out to the remaining Rebels (Leia, Han, Chewy, and some others). Can Leia defeat the Emperor? Can Kyp Durron do it if she fails? Will the rogue jedi master (the Cathar Vyvao) who returns from self-imposed exile stay long enough to train a new jedi knight or will her poor loyalty to the Jedi cause her to fail again? 2-Back Story: Thrawn was once exiled from the Chiss Empire for violating their policy of not interacting with outsiders and for his preemptively strike to save the Chiss. They control much of the unknown regions and have no desire to become involved in galactic affairs. On his own, Thrawn was enticed to join the Empire and became one if it’s greatest, if unknown, Grand Admirals. A crucial moment happened on Endor, when Luke and Leia spot the Imperial biker scouts. If the scouts are caught quickly, no report is made and the mission continues. However, this time one scout got away. The team rushes back to the ship and attempts to escape. Luke again senses he will only draw Vader closer to his friends and disappears at the last moment. Frustrated, Han leaves telling the rest they’ll be back, somehow. Back in time to rescue Luke and destroy the second Death Star before it is completed. They launch into space to warn the incoming Rebel fleet to leave and regroup. Luke is captured with no resistance and taken before the Emperor. As the Alliance fleet drops out of hyperspace, Luke learns that the battle station is fully operational. Knowing the rest have left and there is now no way to stop the Emperor from destroying the fleet and likely his friends, Luke gives into despair. The Emperor has little difficulty using this to sway Luke to the Dark Side. After a quick respite to repair the damage to the Death Star and fully armor it, Luke leads the Emperor to the Rebel Base. Many escape, but Mon Mothra dies while staying to help organize the evacuation to the last minute. With the Rebels in full retreat, the Emperor announces he will remember all of the planets that turned against him after the defeat at Yavin, and enlists several new Dark Jedi that he trains in the art of Force Domination and sends out to return the “independent” systems to his fold. But that is not enough. There is one glaring spot on his map that has resisted invaders for millennia: The Unknown Regions. He devises a plan to conquer this last area as a demonstration of his power to the rest of the galaxy. Thrawn learns the Emperor’s intention through his study of recent artwork commissioned by the Emperor, and confirms it with his spies. Thrawn escapes with plans for several Imperial ships and heads to Chiss space. He shows them the datacard with the Emperor’s plans and gives them the research for the Imperial ships. After much discussion, they grudgingly agree to give Thrawn control and to prepare for the invasion. After witnessing the power of the Emperor’s new Dark Jedi, they also realize they must try to find something to counter this threat. The Chiss send ships out to find the remnants of the old Rebellion. They find not only Leia, Han and some scattered ships, but also an old rogue Jedi, Vyvao. They agree to ally themselves with these outsiders with the understanding that once the Empire is defeated, the Chiss will be allowed to return to seclusion and not be bothered again. The rogue Jedi, Vyvao, starts training some new Jedis, then mysteriously leaves. She returns to continue training, but all are left wondering if she will complete her task before leaving again… or worse yet, betraying this new fragile Alliance. When the Emperor hears of this new Chiss-Rebel Alliance, he is publicly outraged and orders an attack on galactic-network news. Of course, this attack was actually already underway. Privately, he is thrilled that this new “alien menace” allows him to further prune nonhumans from his ranks and advance his prohuman agenda. Can Leia succeed where Luke failed? Can the powerful new Jedi Kyp Durron succeed or will his tortured past and poor training from the Rogue Jedi lead him also to the Dark Side? 3-What’s new is: Tactical Models and Capital Ship changes: --For the Alliance - 2 brand new tactical models (Old Republic Diplomat Cruiser (Radiant IV), and the Anakhan Ion Frigate which becomes a Chiss invention). Textures could use some sprucing up if anyone would like… The cards were taken from swrebellion.com --Also for the Alliance – 2 imported tactical models (Home One and MC40) from this website. Note I gave them stats that I felt balanced the game. Feel free to modify as see fit! (I have no manuals with actual stats… sorry!) -- The Alliance can build Carrack’s (but why?), VSD1’s, ISD1’s, and the Super Star Destroyer (SSD) because Thrawn stole the technology. The Bulwark becomes downgraded to something between an ISD2 and a SSD but with great troop (6) and fighter (10) capacity. The threat of an Alliance SSD spurns development of the Eclipse, the ultimate battleship. --For the Empire – 1 brand new tactical model (Accalamator, or Clone War Cruiser). Again, I made the stats so that this ship would be useful and fit into the game. Feel free to change! -- Also for the Empire - 2 imported tactical models (Eclipse and Eidilon) from this website. I also radically changed the existing Strike Cruiser to be a “AntiFighter” Strike Cruiser to represent the greatest advance in anti-fighter capacity if you happen to feel those pesky things are worth the cost. Note again I gave all ships stats that I felt balanced the game first, and strived for accuracy second. Feel free to change them! -- Finally, because the Empire had a SSD by this point in time according to the movie, you can now build them from the start! The Alliance also gets Home One and ISD’s from the start. Fighters: -Alliance gets the Chiss Clawcraft which takes the A-wing spot (someone had to go, just imagine the makers of the A-wing got destroyed) and is basically a Tie Interceptor with shields. -Empire gets the Assault Gunboat (which replaces the impotent Tie Bomber which you only ever built because it was cute). It is slower than a Y-wing, but HEAVILY armed. Characters: -Made 9 new cards of Chiss characters. Some are beautiful... stolen art, but beautiful nonetheless. A few new nonChiss cards of Alliance characters (not all may make it in, so check swrebellion for left overs if you want different faces). -Imported lots of existing cards from this wonderful website. There are now lots more Dark Jedi and Light Jedi to make things more... dynamic. -All cards were game balanced, so they may have different stats than you’re used to! -I tried to balance male and females… -Note one common theme of Imperial characters… Troops -Troops are also more distinct in their capacities so building a mix is good. 3 new troop classes for both sides based on cards downloaded from swrebellion.com. ---Alliance gets 3 new units: Army Regulars (cheap), Artillery Brigade (excellent defense and bombardment because of auxiliary shield generators, lousy offense and detection because they can’t move easily), Repulsor Sleds (upgrades of Speeders +2 attack, +1 defense, +1 cost). --Empire gets 3 new units: AT-ST (cheap, decent stats), AT-AT (main attack), Biker Scouts (cheap, excellent detection and bombardment (can get away) but lousy attack/defense), and the Dark Troopers cost MUCH more but now have incredible stats except bombardment) Special Forces: -ELIMINATED espionage units for both sides. Pet peave... I spend all my time clicking to renew their missions. Why their missions could not have been continuous like research or diplomacy is beyond me. Now there are two expensive units for both sides with special talents. The empire has reborn jedi (infiltrators with a higher combat (~100) capacity.) The rebellion has bounty hunters with the assassination option. Defenses: The Golan platform is equivalent to a LNR1 + a GenCore Shield 1, so it can be a nice thing to put on either a new planet or upgrade and old planet. Unfortunately, it also costs as much as both, but you save a slot for something else… 4-Game play/Balance hints -In general, I tried to be accurate (as much as I could without a source manual) but I emphasized game balance. -I try to keep in mind the core essential difference... The rebellion has more diplomats (20 to 15); while the Empire (with Palpatine on Coruscant) has more leaders (~20 to 15, except commanders). The Empire also only has 2 diplomats who are not Dark Jedi/Sith (the charismatic Pter Thanas and level-headed, rational Pellaeon). The Empire will have to rely on troops (which it now has some cheap ones) now more than ever to taken and hold planets, or use its Dark Jedi to convert them. The Alliance now has a few strong leaders with thanks to Thrawn and the Chiss, but they will have to use them wisely. -The Empire's Jedi are better trained (but are they loyal and do the Rebellion Jedi have more potential?). The rebellion has more potential Jedi, because those Sith just keep killing off their students! But the Rebellion’s Jedi are weaker at the outset and will either have to train and hide or hope for the best in encounters with the Sith. -Using someone else's idea, I made Death Stars cheap so the darn AI will BUILD THEM. So make sure you reset the Death Star’s cost if you play the empire. Feel free to reset the cost after you build one, because after all… according to the story line you supposedly have one almost complete (the death star 2 just needed some armor) -I also tried to keep it so the Empire has big expensive toys that are superpowerful, while the Rebellion/Chiss have cheap but effective fighters and the occasional cheap dirty trick (Ion Frigate). -The Alliance can build some Imperial ships, so make sure you check to see that ISD is really on your side. You can highlight Imperial or Alliance ships in the tactical mode with buttons bearing those emblems on the middle left of the control panel. -Also about half of the rim world are now colonized with lots of resources like the core worlds. I just prefer it that way… the rim in the books is not as empty as the original game suggests. -I will try to include a saved game with a more realistic starting point. -QUICK AND EASY UNBALANCING THE GAME: Playing the Empire – boost the Rebels diplomatic and leadership skills, check all 100% Jedis that are unchecked, uncheck several of yours and reduce their Jedi strength to 10, remove Pellaeon and Pter’s diplomatic skills. Playing as rebels – do the opposite of the list above and give all Empire characters at least 50 diplomat skill. Problems: -Thrawn now has Mon Mothra's voice! Likewise, Leia is sometimes referred to as Luke, and has his voice and Kyp is now referred to as Leia... darn audio/DLL files! Just keep in mind who replaced who and it’s not too jarring. If anyone can fix this, you have my thanks! -The biggest problem along these lines is that Leia (as Luke) still goes to study with yoda… I couldn’t find a way to disable this. If anyone wants to change the files to be the ghost of yoda, or maybe some other rogue jedi (The Dark Woman would be especially cool), please do! This gives the alliance more Force security than I intended… -My model textures are... bland at best. At least they're close to the right size! Again, if you can and want to fix them, PLEASE DO! - I tried but couldn't change the original fighter models. Sorry! How often do you zoom that close anyway
  16. Models are done, cards are done, and I'm currently playtesting it. So how do I upload the cards, TC, and models? Thanks! TC= Thrawn's Betrayal - The Chiss Awakening New Models = Radiant IV/Diplomatic Cruiser, Accalmator/Clonewar Cruiser, Anakhan/Chiss Ion Frigate New Cards= Assaj Ventriss, Danni Quee, and 9 Chiss characters The TC contains 45 new character cards (mine or from here) and only 14 of 62 are in their original position. About 1/3 of each side has jedi powers of varying strengths. I have even used an excel spreadsheet to insure an interesting balance of talents and strengths for both sides. There are new special forces (2), troops (6), fighters (2), and defenses (1) There are 3 new ships, plus 4 imported new models other people made, and 6 of the old ones can be built by both sides (I tested it, and the game did not crash with any of these 13 models in tactical mode). Hope it's fun... it's the culmination about about 2 months!
  17. For anyone else making cards and unable to get to masks site. If you use the bright blue background found in the extra card, as well as the 3 little ones then you can automatically generate the alliance or empire background in three easy steps. 1) edit your extra card first (the picture you want on a bright blue background (photoshop has it already available) and 400x200 dimension). 2) right click and load this card onto the encyclopedia screen 3) right click and choose "generate alliance" or "generate empire" Oddly enough, if the alliance option fails, sometimes you can do the empire option then switch it to the alliance. I guess you need to know how bad you can be before you can be good PS - other hints... if you cut your xtra card in half (200x200) then shink it by 40% you have the leftmost little card you need on the second encylopedia screen(80x80). If you shrink that by 40% again, you have the bottom card you need (32x32). And to get the upper fleet card, you can shrink the bottom one by 78% to get a 25x25, then expand it to 61x25 and fill in the blank space with that bright blue.

Dunno about ships. The books focus more on the people, Jedi, Vong, and plot than on hardware. There is an "updated" x-wing, but I think it still looks the same. One thing you could do is allow the NR to build ISDs and VSDs because they have them in the books. The only think I think they'd have to research is the Jedi Torpedo maneuver.... you could make it a researchable x-wing fighter that cost a lot and call it a Jedi Squadron and give it a huge torp ability.
  19. She's in clonewars TV as well as clonewars graphic novels 1 & 2... and I swear I've seen her somewhere else. She disappears after clonewars, so I'm using the storyline that she is being brought back to help kill off the few new jedi that have cropped up. Given her master Dooku is dead, her loyalty will not be 100% I got a great pic for her (not from clonewars tv) hope you like it!
  20. My TC is almost done. I just need to switch the Eclipse's spot (it is now in a slot where the empire usually gets one at the beginning ), edit 1 last card (Assaj Ventriss) and play it a few times to make sure it's balanced! (I am not going to try to change fighter tactical pics or change Leia/Luke/Mon Mothra's special files just yet... I'll leave that for others or I'll try if people really like my TC) The current working title is: Thrawn's Betrayal - The Chiss Awakening
  21. Promise not to laugh? 1 hundred and 32 big ones. Yep 132. I promise it is not just a big rectangle. It's got some flair. It's not as good as the orignial ships by a long shot, but it is servicable. And if anyone wants to spruce it up, I'd love to see it. It is a fun concept. Big ion guns with good range, but toast to any ISD that gets close.
  22. Traitors do 2 things that annoy me and tempt me to retire them. 1- they foil any mission you try to use them on. 2- I occasionally get "informant" information from an enemy world that is almost totally supporting the enemy. I suspect it is a traitor character of the enemies leaking me the info. Logic would suggest my traitors are likewise leaking information. So I ask myself, "Self, can you think of a safe planet to stash this snitch on? Are they worth it?" Usually? Nope. Time for the Vader School of Management.

The good news is that you have probably 25 book covers you could scan. May be some possibilities there. Bad news is that there are 30 character cards... 4 troop cards... 4 fighter cards.... 6 special op cards... and you'll still need to do at least 5-6 capital ships at a minimum (the rest you could leave as empire/allaince ships and just make available to the NR side.) I'd suggest making the Vong the Rebels, by the way. That way the NR gets Coruscant. (Unless you want to have a different starting point than the books)
  24. seriously tk421, suddenly I have a reason to buy Homeworld2! I bet I never even play the original version Still, I will miss the galactic perspective of SWReb and come back to it, just like I do after finishing every other LucasArts SW thing.
  25. Eeep! So if I do all this work on my TC and Evader doesn't like it, it will not get posted? Well... people can feel free to IM me, and I can always mail it to them if it gets dinged, right? It's his site, and I've got no right to tell him what he should put up after all. s'all cool man, s'all cool
