I have recently been getting a VPU recovery error from my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro card, and, to say the least, it's really getting on my nerves. I just bought the card (broke my 9800 trying to put it back n my case) not a week ago, and now this problem pops up. I bought it a Future Shop (hey, for $249.00, who wouldn't), and since they're not going to be carrying it anymore, I get an X800 if this card is defective, but I'd like to try and get this problem fixed (since I hear the same problem occurs with the X800). So, I guess my question is, does any one know how to xolve this problem?

The Predator movies were great, and for some reason I liked #2 better, though Dany Glover isn't the best person for an action star (though the Lethal Weapon movies were great too).

Actually, I had to reformat my HD, and I'm still searching for the saved game. I'm hoping that I remembered to transferr it to my other HD before the format. If not, I'll have to start all over again !

If Lucas makes Episodes VII, IIX, and IX, he'll ruin everything that authors have written. How do I know this? In the latest Insider there is mention about the possibility of a third trillogy, and the writer states that the "Eu is not how George Lucas envisioned the continuation of the Star Wars saga". In short, it's not what Lucas wanted, so he'll write his own.

It's probably a good thing that you do, since if we've lost it, well undoubtedly loose the information that you've already told us we've lost it (that's the first it, not to be confused with the it that refers to your reminding us of it, for that would make it [referring to this conversation as a whole, not to be confused with the previouse two its in the aformentioned conversation] very confusing).

Star Wars: Battlefront

The limint is not only ascribed by the number of slots on your mainboard. Some motherboards can only handle RAM of a certain PC speed. I had to get a new motherboard when I bought new RAM because my old one didn't support PC 32oo RAM. I suggest you get PC2700, as Igor has, since it is the most balanced for speed. If yo have a 3000+ plus processor, though, you'll need PC3200 to take full advantage of it (otherwise you'll be under]/i]-clocking it). Also, if your RAM is too fast for your processor (like mine is) you'll have to st it's power settings down. When I run my RAM at 200Mhz my computer will eventually restart, due to the fact that my 2800+ only requires (and can really only handle) 166Mhz. That said, for a 1500+ "Palomino", though to a 2600+ "Thoroughbred" AMD processor, you'll only need PC2100 ram, though there is one 2600 model (the AXDA2600DKV3D, rather than the KV3C listed above) that requires PC2700, as does the 2700+ of the same model. All of AMD's "Thorton" processors use PC2100 RAM, though they are faster than the model below them. All but two of the "Barton" models (which range from a 2500+ model up to the 3200+) use PC2700. Only the 3200+ and the slower of the 3000+ models use PC3200 RAM. If you didn't get all that, here is a listing of AMD's processors, speeds, as well as RAM voltage. For reference, 266 is PC2100, 333 is 2700, and 400 is 3200. AMD doesn't list hte RAM voltage for their 64-bit processors, so you'd have to research that. Another advantage of the 64-bits over the 32s is that they run signifigantly cooler, all at 70 degrees C. -
3PO is dissassembled in the middle of both the old and the new (in some form). Your battle formula is slightly amis, BS, since in ESB there was a big battle in the beginning, a moderate one in the middle, and only a small skirmish in the end.

I remember reading Shadows of the Empire, but I can't remember all of the gritty details. I'll have to read it again.

I'm not sure if there is anyone here who can answer that. Unless it has been reproduced, it was aired before our time. I can't imagine it would have been too bad, but the battles would have left one wanting.

I think it had good maneuverability, and it did pack a punch (even the standard StarVipers were armed with the heavy cannons), but if you look at the picture you can see that there is a very large blind-spot created by the s-foils and the shape ofthe hull, If your opponent gets behind you, you'll be in trouble.
-
Actually, in the books Lucas named that troper THX 1138, which was changed in the Radio Dram, and changed again for the movies. So, originally, it was a reference to one of Lucas' movies, but it was changed.

The Virago is actually a fighter, a heavily modified MandalMoters StarViper, the standard fighter of the Black Sun. It was armed with two Ht-12 heavy double laser cannons, one to either side of the cockpit, and two Borstel proton torpedo launchers. In the picture below it is not in combat mode, but when it is, the s-foils open up, giving the the Virago a flower-like shape. http://www.starwars.com/databank/starship/virago/img/eu_bg.jpg

Star Wars: Battlefront

Your jump in performance may be because you had an Athlon 1200 (I'm assuming this because AMD doesn't name their processors according to speed, but rather a designation number), which doesn't even perform at 1.2 Ghz. A jump from that to the 3000+, which runs at roughly 2.3 Ghz, is a big jump. The difference between 900 MHz and 1000 Mhz is not nearly as large. Also, the 3000+ 64 has two downsides: 1. It doesn't actually perform that much faster than the models just below it (the 2700+ to the standard 3000+) compared to theexorbitant price you pay for it. 2. You have to have XP 64 to take full advantage of it, which will set you back another $200. As for the ISD, you can see it in the Tatooine video on the LA Battlefront offical site. EDIT:A correction to my ascerted speed forthe 64-bit processors for AMD. The AMD Athlon XP 64 3000+ runs at 2000 Mhz (if you're not overclocking), which is the same speed as both models of the standard AMD Athlon XP 2400+. There for, if you're looking to upgrade folks, but don't want to spend a ton of money for little extra performance, go forthe high-end Athlon XP processors, the top model (the 3200+) of which runs at the same Mhz as the bottom model of the 64 FX processors (top of the line). -
A.I Explanation

If the Athlon is a "stripped down" version of the Intel chip, why is it that Intel has been forced to duplicate what AMD does, due to the fact that they have fallen behind (apart from their new processor). Also, despite having a lower GhZ rating, AMDs routinely run faster. I compared boot time, game loading time, overall speed of games, as well as general functions for running Windows, such as word processing, CD Burning, downloading (which is really based more on connection speed, but your processor does enter into the equasion), all in preparation for constructing my system. I decided on the AMD because it ouperformed an Intel chip that was supposedly "superior" to it. My 2800+ performed better than the Intel 3.2 Ghz processor on all fronts. I can't say I've done any CD ripping or CAD, so the Intel may well be better for such things, but you can't say that AMD is a "stripped down" version of the Intel. Intel has been struggling because corperations are switching over to AMD for thier systems, corperations which include those using CAD programs, because they are faster, more reliable, and cheaper. Intel is duplicating AMD's technology for thier 64-bit processor, and hasn't had an original idea on the market first in recent years until thier latest 64nm processor. Even here it remains to be seen ifthey can get it on the market before AMD. It sounds to me like you're an Intel supporter, or some one who uses an Intel processor, and are trying to put the competition down . -
There are two possible locations. One is on a droid that is escorting Padme down the stairs after she has been captured. The other is in the final battle. A droid that Jar Jar nocks over apparently has 1138 on it's back.

Yes, Word is a good program for find spelling mistakes. Grammar on the other hand, is not so good. It's still best to have a human to check that.

I've only got the VHS versions where I am right now, I'll have to wait until the weekend to scan through the DVDs.

You must have meant nor rather than neither. While the former is considered to be grammatically incorrect due to awkward phrasing. I would suggest everyone use Dictionary.com while they're typing. There is also a grammar equivalent if you're not too sure about your phrasing. I use the former for all of my posts if I'm especially concerned about spelling. EDIT:Looks like the grammer checker was removed and replaced with an infomercial-type site. I've no idea what I'll do now...

The only rank in the Star Wars universe that uses epaulets are Grand Admirals, though where that developed from I'm not sure. None of the descriptions of Thrawn in the books states that he wears gold epaulets. The only Grand Admiral who does is Zaarin. I know you didn't say the do wear them, but it just isn't Star Wars style to do so, that's why they have the code cylenders.

It's because it was his first movie. In my oppinion it wasn't that great, but it has gathered a cult following.

Well, I just examined the sceen where Padme gets up (with the assistance of a Clone Trooper), and I suppose 1138 could be said to be in the sand, though it's hard to make out. i als read that Dooku's pilot droid says 1138 when they escape from Yoda, so there is at least one source of 1138 in ATOC.
-
In TPM 1138 is on the back of a battle droid that is escorting Padme and her court after the planet is conquered by the Trade Federation. Apparently in Episode II, when Padme falls out of the landing craft during the final battle, the marks she leaves in the snad spell 1138. I'll have to check on that one though. EDIT:Also in Episode II, apparently the little lights on the back of the clone trooper helmets have cerial numbers on them. You can't read them, but they all supposedly read 1138

Things that should(n't) be in Episode III

I think he's been talking to strange computers again... -
Yes, there were some ranks that were left out, but with the progression of rank insignia, I don't think they would have fit in. I wonder how the Imperials can tell the officers from the Navy and Army appart if they wear the same uniforms and double over on rank insignia? EDIT:I just noticed that, in the pictures of Veers from the movies, he has coloured bars rather than squares on his rank badge. Maybe this is used to distinguish military divisions?
