  1. Last year is was a $50 gift card for our store (Zellers), which I suppose is pretty good. If I win I can buy Revenge of the Sith. There is a $25 gift card for second place, but unless I trade in some HBC points for a Trande-and-Save, it will cost me more money to get it. Ah the joys of being the over-piced competitor of Wal-Mart!
  2. Ok, I was watching the Daily show last night and they had a segment about a new ToFu-like product that aims to give you, the general populace, the chance to feel like a cannibal. This is HuFu. I don't really know what to say about it. There is just something distrubing about anyone wanting to replicate the taste of human flesh. Who do you market this to anyway? I'm pretty sure that the cannibalistic psychiatrist audience isn't as big as it was in the 80's. Any thoughts on this?
  3. I'm not being very original this year. I'm just going as a Redcoat Officer from the Napoleonic Era. Should win me the costume contest at work though.
  4. I give you joy on this most happy of occasions. Carpe diem my friend!
  5. We know that Paplatine had been planning his rise to power since before The Phatom Menace, but what if Anakin had never been found? How would he have been able to take power without the aid of the most power Jedi? I know that the clones would have been more than able to deal with the Jedi who were in the feild, but who would have killed the Separatist leaders? Without their death's the Droid Army could have been turned against Palpatine with the help of the Jedi. Not only that, but because Obi-Wan wouldn't have to deal with Anakin, Yoda and Obi-Wan would have been able to face the Emperor together.
  6. Speaking of Donochick, she hasn't been around lately. I miss her input greatly. I know that there are far more men here than women. I think there are only one or two other woman besides DC on the site.
  7. Vader's hand and lightsaber both are destroyed when they fall into the core. Unless you believe the little fairy tail that was created to explain why none of the Ewoks were killed by the destruction of the Death Star. If you do, you know that Vader's right hand was indestructable and that it, along with the debris from the Death Star, was sucked into a wormhole. I can't remember where I read this little tale...
  8. I know that most of us haven't restricted our movie viewing to Star Wars, so I'm just wondering who is every one's favourite actor or actress? For me it's Michael Cain. I've always had great respect for his work, and there is no role he can't play. He seems to bring life to his characters, makes them his own. If I'm reading a book based on a movie he has done, I immediately associate him with his character.
  9. It's possible that Mad stole your posts in his never ending hunger . It's good to have another lurker come out of the shadows and share their mind with us, even if they'll only loose it after a few weeks like the rest of us.
  10. Just to inject at thought here, there are two groups of people who use the term Christian in different ways. The first, who by the way are the minority, require you to believe in the doctrines established in 325 CE. These people claim Christianity as a religion unto itself, to the exclusion of other Christ oriented religions. The second, which fankly is how the majority of people use the term, is to include all faiths that recognise Jesus as the son of god, the holy trinity and all that jazz. This includes Catholics, Mormans, and Anglicans. Now, I'm not religous, but I frankly find the post by Psyc a little offensive. If I believe in the Jewish faith, but choose not to follow the tradition of eating koscher food, guess what, I'm still a Jew. There is no such thing as a "true" follower of a religion, and to beleive otherwise is somewhat naive. A group of people can say they have read and believe in all the things written in a cetain scripture, but in the end they interpret it in a different manner, apply it to their life in a personal way. Religion is what you make of it not what one groups says it is or how a dictionary defines it. Again, every one seems to be getting onto the road of saying what someone's religion is or isn't (and I suppose what I just wrote could be counted in there in a pinch), but that's not what we should be talking about. Look at the world today. Whether we like to admit it or not, the majority of the worlds problems right now can be pinned down to a difference in belief. It's pretty much always been this way to some extent. So I pose a question: what is it that makes it so hard for peoples of different beliefs to get along? Why must one faith force itself upon another? Why can't we just all believe what we will and get on with life? I'm almost positive I've offended someone with this post, and I do apologise as that wasn't my intention (which is why I left my beliefs out of my post), so don't go on a flaming rant after this. just consider what I've written. EDIT:In my post where I say I found Psyc's post offensive, that's not really what I meant. Well, it sort of is, but not at the strength that it comes accross as .
  11. I've always liked the silver/white blade. Whenever I played KotoR II I used the silver crystal. As for the Sith always having red lightsabers, there are two explainations. The first is that George Lucas wanted good and evil to be easily identifiable, so red was the obvious choice. The second is that the Sith use artaficial crystals rather than naturally occuring ones like the Jedi. The result is a red crystal.
  12. Guys, I think this thread was created to have a civil discussion about different religions and what not, not quesiton other people's faith. We've had eight pages of good discussion, let's not let it get out of hand now.
  13. People, reverse the Subject and Predecate in the sentence. For example Aenivae's last post would look like this: Tofu, believe that the grammer of the German language looks like backwards English do I. You guys are trying too hard.
  14. Yoda simply replaces the lcation of the Subject and Predicate within a sentence. Yoda also never usees exclamatory additions such as "oh dear God", so that sentence is especially difficult to translate. It would be more along the lines of "Dear god, of my life what has become?" I think most people are making his sentence structure too complex.
  15. You really have to wait until the game is out before you can make claims about it's moddability. The C&C Generals community was hyped about Battle for Middle Earth, and one particular mod group had halted development on their Generals mod and began making new things for the next game. Guess what happened: the game wasn't moddable because the company had excluded many of the features to make mods possible. I for one still askcribe myself to the "wait and see" group. Usually when a game looks really good, you're let down in the end.
  16. Not grammerically correct you internal monolog was. Correct it you must!. Serious I am. What point is there to this thread? A discussion to the best way to emulate Yoda it should be.
  17. No point this thread has. Corrupted by spam it will become! In grave danger the Rebellion forums are...
  18. Apparently all of the tickets are taken. I'll have to wait until next week.
  19. I think what confuses many people is that all religions fight one another to some degree, yet they all tend to believe in basically the same thing. Each believes in an after-life in which the All Might resides, and that life is praparation for this after-life. It escapes me why they can't just get along... human nature I guess.
  20. I've never really understood the allure tothe iPods. I know that the Nano is really thin, but they're also prone to cracking due to sudden changes in temperature, as well as scratching (some of the people in my program wrap their iPod Nanos in cellophane to protect them). As for the iPod Video... just get a portable DVD player. I couldn't watch any video on a 2.5 inch screen! I guess the up-side to a regular iPod is that they hold alot more than your regular MP3 player. It's always nice to have that much space, but since I'm so pickey with my music, I'd never use most of it.
  21. is he the guy that did Tarkin, Ysain Isaard, Boba Fett and Carnor Jax? I've been here for about as long as Paul. I was here before the Card Guild, but I took a break for about a year or so.
  22. Ok guys, I'm not a moderator here, but keep it clean and seriouse. This is starting to become a mockery of the threads purpose. It's also off topic. Keep it clean, no swearing, and respect every one.
  23. You know, I really didn't mind Crystal Star, it was just slower than the rest of the novels.
  24. If it's a school computer it's probably running Novel or some other administrative program that prohibits users from doing anything that would drastically effect the computer. In elementery and high-school they usually place heavy restrictions on what a student can and cannot do.
  25. It's odd, I just heard that song for the first time last week.
