Oh man, I'm so excited.. after reading the CGW preview this game may actually not suck, seeing as how they devoted a lot of features to the PC version this time. Too bad the line is long as hell.

I d/led it last week... seemed more like a demo than a beta to me

Apparently all of the tickets are taken. I'll have to wait until next week.

Hopefully it's better than the last one. Everytime I tried to play it on a console it was like my brain was trying to claw it's way out of my skull.

 

I always lost, even on easy and the controlls always seemed really really akward.

I'm just so excited that you can play as a Jedi in this one! It will be so awesome to run around as Luke or Vader, just hacking all the troopers! And the whole "invading the capital starship" thing sounds super awesome!

I thought they couldn't do worse than Battlefront. I was clearly wrong.

 

This game is so bad, it hurts. It's like they took everything that was good about Battlefront, got rid of that, then took everything that was bad about it and made it worse. What should I start with?

 

Why not the "feel?" You know how you play games and you *feel* when you get shot at, when you kill someone, when you're running around vs standing still. Well this game is missing that "feel." Running doesn't feel like running, shooting doesn't feel like shooting. Maybe that's because aside from having 0 recoil after you shoot someone, there is also no indication whether or not your shots hit the other person, and when someone dies it's hard to tell if they really died or if they're just running around (ground combat).

 

The vehicular combat is as always crap-tacular, your precious tank guns overheat right away before you can cause any carnage. How about giving us limited ammo instead?

 

Space combat is so bad it's not even funny. I mean seriously, have they even played their own games? I advise them to go play X-Wing, TIE Fighter, XvT, and X-Wing Alliance, and then come back to this and fix space combat. As it is now its whoever locks on to you first and lets loose the missiles. You die in pretty much one hit, as always there is unlimited ammo (wtf?). Of course flying doesn't have the "feel" either, but I suppose it is somewhat better then Battlefront I's flying. It's not even half as good as XWA or Battlefield 2 though.

 

Those are just my gameplay complaints. There are some other things too, like the graphics being ancient, or the sound being worthless, but let's not go into that, okay?

 

This wasn't even worth the time it took me to download it (over a course of 3 days because my stupidass college has a 750 MB daily limit, after which you get kicked off for a day...argh).

 

May LucasArts one day make good games again, and if they don't, may their Star Wars copyright expire speedily .

Dang, after hearing this post I was excited! A new Star Wars game that could please JI? (Is that even possible )

 

But it seems from what people have told me (and from JI's own view), that this should join the first in some dark hole. . .

 

 

Still, if it's Beta - can you post your thoughts/comments somewhere? Maybe there's a chance of salvaging this train wreck?

They can salvage it by scrapping everything, then making a game that has Jedi Knight ground combat and X-Wing vs TIE Fighter space combat. That's the only way. But of course, you don't expect LucasArts developers to actually play their own games do you?

Perhaps I shall rent before buying it, to be on the safe side.
