  1. erm yes its my own private mod. Its like 850MB in size the best I could ever do is send to you on a CD LOL.. I originally combined several public mods - but I just keep adding to it changing things and improving things. I called it Balance of Power - took the name from an old game I used to like. I basically put together a mod consisting of CIS AGD SAU BailKnights Mod LOW ( bits from the mini mod) Plus lots of stuff of my own I added. I got the ship yards stuff from SAU and added them into my files. they wern't hard to add.. Also adding the Golan stuff next - already added some of it,.
  2. Theres too many variations there to code into the game especially for the ISD. You want to make Mon Calamari be able to build ISD's with stronger shields. Great, I like that - but not the coding side of it. There is to be honest too many variations to look at ISD I II III and then some. You need to code variations of the ISD to be buildable at Mon Calamari with stronger shields. This would maybe put a strain on the amount of build tabs available for such a thing. Not to mention having your build tabs filled up with several types of ISD's all of the same class - but just some with more better shields. You would then have to make normal ISD's not buildable at Mon Calamari and only the variants to get around that nightmare. in theory though I like your idea's but would take some working to do. Not sure the idea's you have would actually work in my game though - as I use shipyards before anything can be built. so I would have to get around that too.
  3. Hmm yes I only ever play the game in high quality settings. I hate the thought of not being able to enjoy a game to some degree that it was intended to look like. Hmm it occurs to me how are people with low end gfx cards going to cope with Forces of Corruption ? - we have been saying here that the quality of the models is even higher ? - surely this puts more strain on their GPU of the GFX card as well as the cpu of the PC. Look its not that expensive to get a pretty good card these days - there doing ones with 12 pixel pipelines for under £100 - don't know what that is in Dollars right now - but it isn't much. You don't have to even get a high end card - maybe just mid range - these were intended for budget PC users - and give you half the power of a top notch graphics card. But more than enough power to run EAW at good to high quality settings. I agree with LOTS - if your CPU is really over heating playing EAW thats what you need to check for. (Just quote previous post)
  4. just as a point of critisim about the ISD and VSD in this mod that is the VSD's and the ISD 2 - are all very dark and are very difficult to see some times in some space combat battles. Can the mod team plase tone down the darkness of these textures to more of a ship grey which they were supposed to be. They ARE supposed to be navy grey or gun grey - not grey - black. Thanks.
  5. @Logan - maybe you can't afford a new computer but surely you can abd SHOULD upgrade the cooling system for your PC. This does not have to cost the earth to do. Just common sense on fan placement and what type of fans to put in the machine to get the correct air flow. Looks like you need to get some heat off your CPU. Perhaps re bonding it with some new heat sink paste will help also. Now, SWBG - sorry I actully hate this game. Its based on Age of Empires and the engine sucks. Its a pile of Sh** I would prefer to play Force Commander than that game if I didn't have EAW. (Thats saying some thing) I hate the way when you build land bombers and fighters they just hover over a target and shoot at it - statically. At least with both Focom and EAW they fly in a more natural order and patterns. SWBG lacks unit abilitys - Focom and eaw both have unit abilitys in game. They are both superior to SWBG in this respect. Finally the texturing in both those games is much better than SWBG - people will good gfx cards who can play in high quality settings will know how good these games can look with the right card installed. I have plaed EAW in low grpahics settings and it looks worse than Force Commander did with its DirectX 7 coding. - but as I say in comparison I still like the graphics better than in SWBG - although very neatly done are not best textures I have seen. Dont recall the game even being in true colour ? Anyway A Mod / Model has to be able to support any level of quality in the game or its basically useless to people trying to play the game. I just want people to mindful of this and work at producing better models in their mods. People with a high end gfx card will not want to play a mod where it makes them play the game in the lowest settings. Defeats the reason why they bought a high end card doesn't it ? LOL
  6. well I agree with you on the part that a lot of crappy models have been coming out lately. Which is why I was and have been asking people to re do the models that aren't showing properly in game. I know what you mean I am dissapointed with the quality of the models coming out lately. The ones I have talked about to be fair are only in beta's that aren't working right. But I know there has been some low quality ones in some mods that were officially released. I think LOW is a little too late in some facts but if they offer top quality models I am sure we will want to check them out. I just think its coming too late - I should have said it was too little too late.
  7. You misunderstand. I had Liea working in the mod before I added Wedge Antilles. Yes icons and everything. Now her hero icon doesn't show but Tantiv IV still shows in orbit above Alderaan in the game. Its just that her Hero icon on the top right of the screen has gone. ??? I now have Wedge Antilles Hero icon showing but Liea's is missing. I can't figure out the problem right now - which is why I need to know if there is a limit to how many hero's can be used in the game and shown on the GC Map.

I have got 11 Rebel hero's to my game - and I should have 12 - I just coded in Wedge - Rogue Squadron into the game - and it bumbed off Liea who is also supposed to spawn in orbit with the Tantive IV - the Tantive IV shows but Lieas icon on the hero bar is gone ?! I have been messing bout with it but no joy right now. It got me thinking is there a hero cut off limit you can have to this game ? answers if you know please
  9. I actually agree with LOW - I think its too much too late. The EAW community is getting a lot of good mods out lately that have plenty of new units in there to use. By the time they finish LOW - people will have got bored with the stuff they are offering in much of the fact that we have already been there and played that unit - in several mods already.
  10. SAU is actually a very well made mod - except it also does have texture problems with its space units in game. Just play the empire build a few ISD's and zoom right out on the camera - woops. My starDestroyer has no body - I now only see the engines. I expect its the same with their other models as well. But at least they have enough polys and other parameters in the models to get them working in normal camera mode, AND in high quality mode. I give them credit for that at least. I have been campaining by the way to ask some one to re do the Dominator Interdictor Destroyer as well as all the other units fluffed up that were in those betas I mentioned. Most people seem happy playing the game on very low quality settings and seem to think this bug doesn't need fixing. But people have to take into account - if you have a good gfx card thats capable of a lot of texture shading etc YOU WANT high detail settings in a game. Any mod should be capable of rendering any texture level - not just cater for one group of people.

  12. hm, *well* I mean they are in beta's - in which some people have had access to. So they have been available to some. Generally the Dominator is not in any public mod yet as I know of. Only in a few betas.. Like I say the one I have seen in one mod doesnt work properly a long with several other space units people have been trying to add. Bad UV - missing parameters ships not showing properly in game because of it. Who ever does a conversion will need to know what they are doing !
  13. I dont think there IS anything you can do. especially based on what you say. Its a pity the execmption log report isn't more user friendly though in EAW. Really is designed for programmers to know about debugging the error code. Thats some thing the developers would know about.
  14. hmm yes we do have a Dominator in two different mods so far - one of the mods it isn't working right in there though. But its in some mods, and neither of them are official public mods yet I don't think.

  16. Thanks, yes I know about the txt extention and my entries do include the extention too Your suggestion of them being formatted differently could be the reason why it doesn't work. I am not sure however.. So far however I have already about 35 entries for text files in my game constants file. so I am not sure what the actual limit is ? like I say its at least 34-5 entries now.
  17. Please calm down I am trying 'we are all' trying to help you I am not some stupid kid with xml coding either I am pretty good at finding bugs. AND you just DID describe your problem 1) game does not load on startup. What was the last edits you made to your xml files THINK. Then think what files they were in that you were messing around with. what ever you have changed in the code it didn't like it. a mispelt word a bracket in the wrong place - a slash the wrong way around.. anything like that,. Garunteed its always down to the last thing you did that screws the game. Its normally because of an error in the xml code. We have been talking about a new XML editor from Microsoft which could help you to debug the game.   19. Actually I think a lot of these problems are caused because of Secure rom 7 - It constantly nags you for the original CD not a backup disk - even tough I am using the original CD. On their site it says your drive might be too old or you need a firm ware update. - My drive is brand new ! If these problems happen trying to start the game - then god knows what it does during play ? - maybe forgets that its a legitimate install or some thing and thinks your using a backup ?
  20. LOL I can't get it to work, and I am at my ship name limit in the game constants file. I have put the text files in my mod data folder which have been listed in my xml files. For example I used Imperiator_StarDestroyer_II But nothing appears in the game. Its not pulling any names from the text file.
  21. I can't get it to work. In game ships appear dont appear with any new ship names..
  22. ok, so if I have a text file I call say SSD.TXT in my data folder - I can called on the ship names in that text file from the moniker script ? - it will look in the data folder and read the ship names for that space unit. Or does it have to be a specific name ?
  23. ok but whats its usage ? does it call on shipnames ? and can it be used to read ship names from a text file in the data folder - rather than read from the game constants ship names entry,.?
  24. I haven't seen it either in the original code. but none the less there is a few mods using this type of code. as I stated above it looks like a link to a text file. shipname.txt If it is to pull ship names from a text file I would guess it reads it from the data folder. any ideas ?
  25. Yes I already know it means 'nickname' what I want to know is what its used for in these mods. I found it in spaceunitfrigates and a few others in bailknights mod and in EAW Enhanced. They point to text files that dont exist in the mod at all. ? I want to know what is for in the mod and what is its usage (How to apply this type of code) in my own mods. depending on whether it has any real use. example code : Assault_Frigate_MKII.TXT This is the type of line of code I am finding - it obviously points to a txt file holding ship names. But does anyone know the proper use of this script ?
