  1. hmm had a look I can't find anything that mentions it. ???
  2. yes I edited the texture on the Dominator - but it messes it up a bit - I get black bits on the top of the bridge etc. As well as a bit of a green looking circle in the middle of the ship ! LOL .. Not used to editing DDS files :
  3. Actually some of these models aren't that good. Well not the model - hardpoints there OK, but the models lack bump maps. May explain the crappy textures on some models ?
  4. Do you want Vader spawned with the Executor you mean ? So as if Vader is on board ?
  5. If I recall rightly though - a High Poly count doesn't actually stop the unit being played in game ? - it just means the game will run slow when that unit is in a battle eg, it causes LAG. Which is why people prefer lower poly count models - so not to cause as much drag when playing that unit in a game ?
  6. Theres a LOT of interesting ships in that mod. I am going to have a busy week
  7. hmm well I don't think many of us actually share your thoughts I already posted a link to another forum where were talking about conversions also. It does seem there is a call for it and people are looking to get some models out.. hmm and yes it does sound selfish. If you don't want to do any thing for the community you are apart of - then why are you part of it ? - I am not specifically targeting YOU here - its a thought, - because what is the point of being part of a community if your not give anything to it - other than complain a lot ?! Anyway not everyone is feeling like you about this there is a growing call for more models to be converted from the Warlords models. Don't give me high polys and what not - there have been plenty of models converted for EAW from those packs. If people do get together on File Front as the thread is suggesting - there could well be more models available to people. See ? - that's some ones post on there and followed by some one else saying they will do it if some one does the stations. See I like it when people come together - share idea's and then want to do some thing for the community. Whether you like it or not people want this. I think the voices of reason are growing louder
  8. Yes its on EAW Files - downloaded it earlier - so I think my week will be occupied with some more work now Theres a heck of a lot of new models in there. Including the Dominator !
  9. Take a look people ! http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=284902 Looks like were on the way to maybe getting some thing done
  10. *a-hem*.. Final take on this from me I hope some one will be willing to help us in the community and free release any model they convert for us from the Warlords packs,. They need to be in the free domain available to all to download and use - not just the few. This is a true sense of sharing in the community that wants to share a resource base of information and things that will extend the life of their game. Its fun to download mods and play mod teams different takes on Empire AT War playing it the way they like it to be. HOWEVER Not everyone likes the way a mod team makes a mod - how it might play, or the lack of units it might have or not have. Where people are creating private mods are concerned they have to do this based on the available resources to hand. It makes sense to share open source free code and models with each other and make them available to all - not just a few people to use at any one given time.
  11. um no actually it wouldn't eliminate the need for mods. If people were to do a 'Model/Code' exchange as has been suggested then people can obtain code in the free domain for their mods. It doesn't stop the need for mods to be developed. Mods are fun - If people do public mods based on different periods of Star Wars history then that's cool. All it means that there is a proper resource base there for people to look into and use what they need for a mod they working on. Also finally - because this is my last post in this topic because I am now tired of going on LOL .. Not everyone can code in EAW - some can but are not very good at it. Same with making models and skinning yes ? - ok so a resource base of xml code and models that are proven to be good quality would be made available to people who can't code, can't make models but want that new shiny ship in there game. They just basically follow easy to use instruction on how to add that nice shiny new unit in their game. Of course the resource base can be used by anyone from novice's to advanced. The licence of use for the code and any models donated to the resource base would be covered by an acceptable user policy. Agreements on given credit where needed if any xml code and model is used in a public mod. Obviously to not follow the terms of this agreement and a public mod is found out - then they would be in bug trouble by the community Private modders only need to understand its for their own private use and they should keep it like that. They need to code in the units themselves as they did with KOF's models. I think the system is fair - it gives the community an open resource base for people to share open source code and models. Note the word 'Open Source' here it means its open to the community to use - but there is as always a user policy on using any xml code or models etc that you use.
  12. No problem Star Wars Man I fixed up the rest myself to get it working I am working on a conversion for the Juggernaught for the original EAW game over the weekend @Mr Crisp if you want to compare idea's and notes via PM about this that would be great. I already converted the animations for EAW - I am just ready to do the coding - ASAP. Quick edit: Might be easier to make a new model LOL - wasn't there one already in the Warlords pack ? The FOC one has deployment animations - because it supports garrisons - not sure if that can be even coded into the original EAW - as it doesn't support garrison units.
  13. I understood you clearly and well enough I have to agree with your comments about people being given credit for their work - its illogical to assume otherwise. We have to know who did some thing in order to celebrate their work and what they have done for us. If I myself create some thing I would expect the same treatment. There's nothing wrong with models or code being in the free domain as long as there are people doing this work and are being given credit for their work. I have already said I have coded several of KOF's Models and released the code to the public domain to be used in peoples mods as they wish. All I ask for is that they notify me if they want to use this code in a public mod. I like Steiners Modding group idea that they blue print their models. - good idea really. At least they can't be stolen and used in other mods. its hard to do this with xml code you have worked on yourself though to prove you did the code.
  14. Thank YOU. You have echoed my thoughts exactly on this. Ego trip - funny I did mention that earlier I am glad I am not the only one to have seen this there IS hope for this community after all - thanks for quoting KOF and Bailknight - those people are shining examples of what good people are in this community. Bailknight like KOF have both shared there work with the community - Bail has given permission to several mods to use his work. I think it seems there is more people in this community that think alike than I thought.
  15. hmm yes well I have 3d max installed but I haven't had much time to learn how to convert those Warlords models otherwise I would be doing it for the community for free. If I ever do manage to produce a model that works fine I'll certainly release it. I think our problem really is the fact that most decent modellers are tied up in projects. They haven't the time to do freelance work for us to use. It will be down to some one - maybe one of us to just learn modelling for EAW for ourselves and share what we have with each other when we have it available ?
  16. I wasn't arguing about anything.. more like debating a possibility. If there are cons to our 'idea' as you put it then please be good enough to point out what they are ? - I'll reiterate the fact that Keeper of the Faith did this and released his models to the community. Just how was there any cons in this for him ? In other words if one person was able to do this for the community then how is it he is the only one that was able to - or willing to. I think your point lies on the fact that you think no one is willing to rather than the fact no one has done so in the past. Keepers models are testament to the fact that people have given to the community for everyone to share. His only concessions were that you do the coding yourself. If it never happens again what KOF did then I think its a sad day for this community that people can't share their work with the world as Keeper did. I repeat. AS KEEPER did if he did it why can't any one else do it ?
  17. hmm yes we could do a juggernaught - it just wouldn't have the same abilities as the one in FOC - it just can't be done. The abilities are not coded for this version of EAW only FOC ?
  18. I am far from being angry myself, just want this to be a friendly debate. This is what a forum was designed for ? Oh and I agree with you as usual in this topic about your other points. I can't argue against them because like you other people in this community want the same thing as you
  19. A Painting is designed to be enjoyed by many people not just one person. A Painting is painted for the joy of creation and the pleasure of giving it to the world for others to enjoy and comment on. Sharing your work with people whether its for nothing - just for the joy of giving it to the world or for money - either way you share. By definition of what your saying about a model not giving it away because you want to treasure it - no one wants to take it away from you - people want to enjoy what you did. Not the latter The world is far from perfect - well that we all know but there are shining lights in the world who make it a better place One of them was the work KOF was doing. Sorry for keep mentioning him but - I wish we had more people like him.
  20. Your doing it AGAIN.! None one is attacking anyone - trying to make anyone feel guilty. Its a simple debate - this is a forum people debate stuff. Period. People who enjoy living in a democratic country know what freedom of speech is, and that's what were expressing here. We are NOT Attacking People Making people feel guilty about their mods (If you do feel such perhaps some one touched a nerve ? that you are feeling guilty about for some reason unknown to me) OR arguing about people being credited for their work. As far as I am concerned this topic is about none of this but has cropped up a few times being mentioned. Are you seriously suggesting NO ONE is willing to carry on Keeper of the Faiths work for us in the community and release top quality models for us to code into our games ? - CREDIT ?! - yes KOF has plenty of that already and so will anyone else who helps carry his work on. Please stop. keep on topic stop this paranoid idea of people attacking others. Were all friends here right ? - NO ONE is attacking people. Its a friendly debate to find people to help carry on what KOF were doing in the community. The fact that particular mods have been mentioned were off the cuff examples of things people are not happy about. - They must not be other wise they wouldn't of mentioned it. People are free to express and complain if they wish to..? aren't they ? well I live in a democratic country here we can
  21. @Star Wars Man Just got the files imported to my game - and found the unit doesn't fire at anything ? I had to add projectile type information to the ground unit code to get it to fire at anything. Also you have a HP_04 for some thing in the code that doesn't exist in your hardpoints code..? Anyway I sorted out what I needed to and it works in the game now after making some adjustments. I just thought I'd point out the problems I found when I was importing your xml code to my own files. The Model is really cool by the way I am glad you took the time to code this in for EAW
  22. @Dragonshadow Making a short movie speaks more volumes than any static picture can do hm, well if it comes to choice I would prefer a completed mod project that is cleaned up and polished of any coding errors and models that don't work because you play in a higher resolution. I feel perhaps people who have to keep making patches to fix errors in their mods do this because it keeps a fan following for their mod - and it doesn't die through lack of interest. Although interest will ultimately die anyway. The other side of it would be to produce a great mod - no flaws, no errors of any kind - get good reviews and lasts a while in popularity until the next great project come along..? then dies. I'd prefer a well rounded completed mod to one that is released in increments. HOWEVER. People creating smaller mods can do a good thing if they only take more time to fore fill their aims and goals in a mod by taking more time to finish a mod cleaning up coding errors and quality models that work for any one playing the game in ANY quality settings. This is really moving off topic though ? - the point of the topic was to appeal to people who can make models to do them for us in the community so we can do our own coding for them.
  23. Well,.. LOW did at least bring out two mini mods with their take on the Executor and did add in Soontir Fell in V2 they have release some very limited demo's of what they are working on. I would have liked to see more movie's being made showing what they have done so far - a demo to show us all this is for some thing at the end of it all. I can't really comment on any other 'big' mod out there because I haven't been following them lately. I don't doubt LOW will be a great expansion mod when it comes out - but will people really care ... ? - I think I last read it will now be for FOC anyway. ? -To that I feel disappointed. I was hoping this was to be released for the original EAW. I don't think this topic should be aimed at anyone - as to wave a finger at certain groups to be blamed for the problems were having in this community, rather that anyone who feels decent enough to share their work publically to the world to share with us like Keeper of the Faith did to release models to us so we can code them in to our mods for ourselves. I mean hey anyone willing to do what KOF did I will personally code their models for people in the community and release the code for people to use as I have done before. For people who can't do XML coding
  24. 622 ? OMG ;D I think Mods will take longer to do now ?
  25. no one is targeting anyone. You misunderstood the comments about SPG.. I personally appriciate their offers of releasing models to the community and any competitions they want to do. So you should too. Of course I notice... I notice a lot of things on this site. However LOW's offering maybe too little too late. You don't need to tell me about that. I already know this.. If you recall I just mentioned in a previous post that I did XML coding for Keeper of the Faiths models. I included in the readme file that it was for private use only - public useage people should notify me of this. I personally don't actually care about credit for some thing - but its nice for people to know what you did for people in the world. Its a matter of perspective. Its greedy to want to hord things like new features that you find in the game that others haven't found - the only reason your doing this is because your trying to make a name for your self because of some pathetic ego trip. I believe in open source information and EAW code is there for us all to use and share in the community. Emphasis here on 'sharing'.. not to do so is selfish by definition. Are they for the community ? - they are part of locked projects. They are not freely available to download to code in yourself into your own game. This means they are not openly available for the community and are only available as a 'mod' to people in the community. They are locked up after completion if you accept the fact that no 'other' mod can use those models once their mod was completed. I am always interested in adding more features, models and code to my game. It keeps the game alive. If people get tired of doing this - perhaps they should go play some thing else and mod that instead. No one has SAID they shouldn't ! - people should get some form of recognition for what they do for the EAW community. People have to have a name associated with some thing so we know who did it. Its illogical to assume otherwise. I would expect some recognition for the code I did to get keepers models working in game for people. I did this because I wanted to share what I can do. Not because I am selfish. Actually I DID spend my time and Effort coding. I do that every day of my life at the moment. I have written a lot of my own coding for mods that people have never seen in EAW - or have seen variations of. I wrote code into my game to put bunkers, Landing Platforms and ship yards in to my private files a good while before they were showing up in recent mods. I also added other ground units that are either not in any one else's mod - or have only just thought about it. Like what ? - try my own take on Elite Assault Troopers and Mech engineers - I did this months ago - people are just now doing these things in their mods. I will remind you again the coding I did to get KOF's models working in game I shared with the community. Its available for people to use in their mods. So long as they are private.., I spent time coding those models in myself - using the EAW mod tools to read the models and make the correct coding for them. I tested them in game a few times also to make sure they worked. So I am afraid to tell you I am capable of doing my own coding in EAW - its just I SHARE my work. This is WHY I wont work for any mod team. @MonkeyBiz This is quite true. But like with Making models xml coding not every one is good at it and make plenty of mistakes.. I have seen several coding mistakes in so called official mods. Then they rush out to make patches to fix the coding errors they over looked. Same with some Models too - does it mean some mods are 'rushed' ? - I dont know ! There are talented coders and modellers and skinners in the community. MOST of them are locked up in projects..Yes thats true as well.
