  1. I think you hit the nail on the head - the model needs to have a stealth mesh added to it for it to actually work.
  2. On your second point, I generally agree with. I have seen many poor quality conversions in mods. Laziness ? - lack of creativity ? - for sure lack of creativity. The most annoying thing about the warlords conversions I have seen, is the fact they are unbalanced because of too many hardpoints - which then make them too powerful in game. Secondly is the fact that their lack of vision resulted in those conversions not even having break off bits like the developers intended the units to have in the game. It's more of a lack of vision to carrying on the work what the developers started, then a failure to try and produce new units. It resulted in poor quality conversions. I won't comment on DE or LOW as I think they are way above this criticism, and are at least taking their time to do it right. JC
  3. I can't seem to change the population cap size on planets. Even though I have changed the values in Planets.xml for each planet I increased the values, and in hypergameconstants I changed the value in that file for max ground forces. Nothing has altered the fact that when I zoom in on a planet it still says Pop cap 10/10 ? does anyone know what I am missing to change this. I'm sure I have tried everything.

Hey, is the Factions.xml file working ? - I copied it over into a mod I am working on (from FOC 1.01) and changed the land and space skirmish credits, - however the slider in the game is still showing the same amount of credits. Even though I move the slider to full - it still shows the default game credits value..?
  6. Well when I referred to the 'Splash Screen' in one of my previous topic's I called it such because that is what it's called in the DDS files ? SPLASH.DDS - is the loading screen picture of the game. It's easy to assume that the word splash and 'splash screen' would then be associated ?

  9. Hmm I posted this code for personal use only and it was only designed for use in Empire At War. That code works fine in my mod otherwise. If your getting a syntax error on what line does it mention the error ? - open your hardpoints file up and see if it tell's you of any coding errors - and what line its on.

  12. Good Grief. : So wrong was I ? I'm pretty sure that SAU 3.0 has the Star defender too - I have their mod and used a model they called a Star Defender in my own private mod. I presume (I think) it's the same ship you are looking for ? Edit: is it the M104 model that has been in some mods that you mean ?

Anyone with a high school diploma can tell they are not the same icons !? - Zerox where are you basing those assumptions on I have Photoshop too hence the reason of how I created that new Ozzel icon. Do you wish to say I am lying about my creating it too ? - sheesh,. I haven't played his mod yet so haven't seen the in game icon yet for him but I assume he used the one I sent him ? As for Needa - that icon is ten a penny in mods these days they are all the same identical icon - so your point is ? - if you made it ask EVERYONE to credit you for making that icon. I can make an icon like that in less than a few minutes in Photoshop CS 9 Far as I am concerned you can't close a case on something that is clearly you got wrong. For the sake of argument I will even make a new Needa icon as well if he requests it again from me.

  16. Hm well if it's for your personal use then I would suggest looking at CIS - it has some of those units already. Tyrant-Class Missile Cruiser TIE Scimitar The XJ Wing was released some where on the forum about a week or so ago - think its in the public models thread on this forum. And.. Think the Star Defender is in SAU 3.0
  17. yes its for my personal mod I was asked if I would be able to release this because of the lack of new mods on the community, but I can't - its a personal mod. 1) Its 1gig in size I'd have to send it people on Cd or archive it up into different bits. 2) I'd need a lot of permission over copyright ownership over the models I used in the game

I found why it wasn't showing : turned out that my localization is SPLASH_UK not 'SPLASH' LOL I renamed it to SPLASH_UK.dds - and it works now What the heck - I'll show you what I was doing too - its a splash screen for my personal mod that I have very nearly finished. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e99/drone_pilot/Splash_bop.jpg
  20. I am trying to change my Empire AT War Splash screen but with no success. I have added my own custom SPLASH.dds file to my Textures folder - but my game isn't reading the new splash screen. I had a look through some XML file's but can't find what I should edit if anything at all. It just doesn't use my own Splash screen : Any idea's why not ?
  21. @Kel yes I know I don't know if you have ever came across them but some models I have seen in the past couldn't be even seen in the game unless you turned down the graphics detail real low. (Missing parameters and stuff) from the models it looked like. This is what I mean by quality - I have a Geforce 7 cards - why the heck would I want to play a game on very low detail settings - takes the point away from ever buying this GFX card in the first place. I didn't know that PFF used to have a notice up on the board about giving credits and stuff to people - how come it was never put back up ? I think perhaps this topic in itself is serving as a reminder that at the end of the day EJ owns those models - 'the source code' as you could put it. I hope people will run and update their readme file now at least. I think originally when the Models were released perhaps to have avoided this topic at all EJ perhaps should have only released the source models to a select group in the community. Its too late now though - but it would have put controls on all this mess over conversions. Could of also meant people would have waited even longer before seeing any completed warlords models..? I often feel that with out some of these little mods the community would be dead though perhaps the AGD's and CIS's of the world have kept the forums ticking over aside from the odd request on how to do some thing in the game. It's not like CIS has done any over kill on any Warlords stuff anyway ? AGD just seemed to buggy to even play anyway ? Not like SAU that is *cough* - even though the idea's are good in their game.
  22. no,no - its NOT THAT warlords LOL there isn't any Warlords stuff in it I think the name was just to refer to the Imperial style hero's in the mod. Its really just an XML based mod with new buildable hero's like Vader in it.

Yes I know, it's difficult to moderate - but maybe we would have to have a new kind of moderator on the forums specially designed for downloading and testing mods (One that is dedicated to this kind of moderating) - yes for bugs in the code - but for also checking that the mod team has given credits to EJ. - Because of course he can withdraw his permission at any time to that mod group. (Or even perhaps have some one act on his behalf to do it) Who will do it ? - well I am sure in this vast community some one would be willing to help work with EJ on vetting mods that have Warlords content in them. There is plenty of members on the site - taking on a few new mods who have the time to check through any mod with warlords models in them is down to them and their time to do for us. Its not strictly true though that bugs are only in code. I have done some coding for a few people who have made conversions from EJ's Warlords stuff - and had problems with hardpoints not working. (For what ever reason) I had one model I was coding for some one where it would fire laser cannons but wouldn't fire proton torpedoes. I re did the code several times to no avail. Checking my code with other fighter models I found the code was fine however it was doing what it was supposed to with other models. Its an easy thing to do to just get the Muzzle bones to fire both lasers and proton torpedoes if the model lacks other HP's you can attach them to. I only do that for models that are supposed to have more than just laser cannons. Anyway back on topic again (sorry) LOL .. I know it will be difficult to moderate - but maybe a new moderators group could help with this to check new releases that have EJ's stuff in them. Well who ever has the time to do it for the community that is.
