  1. Hmm...PFF and Friends? I think that we need to increase our forums to lots of games, because the official forums, our downed forums, and lack of widespread interest in FoC has hurt the forums. I do my best to keep them alive, but I am just one man. We need more help. We need reinforcements. I have a proposition for what to do: 1. Let's become more welcoming to other people. Not like we aren't accepting now, but I think we could do a little more to make people feel like they are welcome and so are their opinions. I remember over a year ago when I joined, people would always say "Welcome to the forums(insert name here)! I hope you enjoy your stay!" And when multiple people said it, it made you feel good inside(which hopefully is a good thing)
  2. It is an website. But the "official" forums for Petroglyph is now at Petroglyphgames.com Just like the LucasArts "official" forums are on their site.
  3. The forums are taking a turn for the worse, but perhaps we can somehow turn that around.
  4. List of questions to ponder: 1.What do you plan on doing with your lives? 2.Will it involve games or gaming(aside from playing them)? 3.Do you plan on going to college or are at college?(which one if you know. If you are there and you don't know....well...I can't really help you. People in the white coats might be of service) I'll add more questions as I think of them, or as I steal(borrow)them from others. For those of us who are out of college, tell what you do and what you did to get where you are today.
  5. Good for you, DragonShadow and Wildcat. ;D I'm not smart enough to do that kind of stuff. If I would have a career with a gaming corporation, it would either be in marketing or accounting, or story line designer/tester. I might make a new thread in the Bar asking what job you are looking to do, or something like that. I feel inspired. ;D Anywho....does anyone know if there are going to be more interviews with other Petro people(some might have bios online...I don't know)
  6. Most expansions require that you have the original game installed in order to install the expansion. :
  7. Well....um. Happy Birthday Fosh! (dunno how i missed this one) *dives infront of whoever is being headshoted, saves them, and then saves the Ferrari for Fosh* End of story. No more killing people or stealing of Ferraris.
  8. Now that the demo comes out soon(almost now)...is the actual game worth getting? Some other questions to think about: 1.What does it offer that other games don't? 2.Does it have anything new and innovative that could revolutionize RTS games forever? 3.Is it fun? 4.Does the replay value seem good? 5.Does it add enough to be worth buying? And then my ultimate question: #60,783: Should they have made an EAW 2(like BFME 2) and added something completely new(like a create a hero/ship option)?
  9. Bugs? Nonsense...no LucasArts game ever has bugs... : ;D All the devs are pretty cool. I hope I have the opportunity to play them sometime. They sound like really down to earth people, like someone else said.
  10. What is it about those pictures that seperates it from the other games? Someone please tell me this!
  11. The forums were deleted?!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Wer're using April back-ups?!?!?!?!?!? :o :o Hehe...lock this.
  12. If you read it double spaced on Microsoft Word, with tabs and such, it looks better. I guess it didn't copy paste correctly. I'll fix that.
  13. Done. I had forgotten about the fact that I could add a poll...
  14. Okay....in an attempt to increase some sort of interest in PFF multiplayer, I think we should make a new leader ladder(hehe...that sounds cool). Since people have left, and moderators have changed and so on and so forth. I think that if we have some leaders to spearhead the operation, PFF could become known in the EAW online community and throughout the world!!!! *cue evil laugh*.....(just kidding about the second part) But seriously, for being the best EAW forum, we sure have a sad representation online.
  15. I really think that the game lacks strategy because the maps are so small. The land maps force you to go on certain paths instead of having some open space for flanking manuvers and different strategies like that. Also, only having two factions is a bummer. I think multiplayer is a blast, but to a point. Eventually I get bored and play a different game, like Medieval Total War which takes years to finish, but has so many units and strategic elements that make it worth playing. EAW needs that element.
  16. Here's a taste of what the actual Crusade will look like: “Edward—hurry! Five Cypriot galleys have been spotted! They are trying to prevent us from landing! We have to destroy them!” yelled Sir Nicholas as Edward ran out of the king’s quarters. Edward journeyed back to the bow of his ship and peered out over the sea. The news was confirmed. There really were five Cypriot galleys approaching them! “I want every man in his position immediately! Send the archers toward the front of the ship. Order them to fire at will on the enemies. We will show the Cypriots true power!” said Edward to his crew. The crossbowmen hurried to the stern of the ship, while the other crewmen speedily moved to their stations. Sir Robin ordered the crossbowmen to form ranks and prepare to fire. Edward could see Cypriot soldiers assembling on their ship, preparing to board his ship. He took out his sword and prepared for the onslaught. But it never came. Once the Cypriots got within range, volley after volley of arrows rained down upon them from the English ships. Soldiers dove off of their ships to escape the arrows. The battle ended as quickly as it had started. The few Cypriot survivors struggled to swim to shore, and many drowned. Edward’s ship was nearing land, and he was preparing for the battle to come. He was awakened from his battle meditation by a yell: “The king is charging to the shore! Follow him!” Edward looked over the front of the boat, over the glistening water, out to the shore. It seemed so serene that it was inconceivable that a battle was going to take place in the coming minutes. But sure enough, he spotted King Richard wading to the beachhead, with some knights eagerly following him. “Onward, men! Onward! To the king!” urged Edward as he leapt into the water to wade ashore. The water was not dreadfully cold, thankfully, but it was still a difficult feat to wade in full armor. Edward turned his head and saw many other soldiers following his example and he urged them forward. When Edward had gotten near the shore, he unsheathed his sword and thrust it up in the air. Many soldiers from his boat were soon around him, waiting for the signal to charge. Then they heard it, horns blowing all around them. “A sword for the Lord, and for Richard!” yelled Edward as he pointed his sword at the enemy and charged at them. He continued his charge and swerved his head to the right as an arrow sped past him. He heard the scream of the unfortunate man behind him who could not dodge the arrow in time. But Edward could not afford to turn around and see if the soldier was all right. He had a job to do, and he nothing was going to stop him. But it did make him uneasy, like he could have done something to save the man. There was no time for reflection though, because a Cypriot sword was swinging at his head. Edward reflexively parried the attack, and silently vowed to not get distracted like that again, for it could cost him his life next time. He then jabbed his shield into his foe, and then stabbed his blade into the enemy’s chest. “One down and a whole lot to go,” thought Edward as he struck down another Cypriot. He kept his onslaught going as he pushed the enemy’s line further back in an attempt to break through and hopefully cause a rout. But looking around at how the battle was progressing, it was not he that would start the Cypriot retreat. King Richard himself was in the middle of battle, and then number of enemies that lie slain around him was dampening the morale of the soldiers of Cyprus. Soon those soldiers near him started to back away, and were pushed backwards even further by the English forces. But once King Richard cut down the Cypriot banner carrier and threw the flag to the ground did the retreat start. Edward heard shouts of triumph from the soldiers behind him, and he beckoned them onward: “Drive them back! Fight with all your might! For England!” The enemies around him fled, and Edward was about to pursue them when something else caught his eye. He saw Scott, who had attempted to steal Edward’s belongings on the boat, surrounded by Cypriots. Edward’s first thought was to leave him there to his own fate, but then his conscience got the better of him so he ran over to save his fellow Englishman. Scott was fighting for his life against a group of around ten Cypriots. His sword was moving around like lighting, trying to open a hole in the enemy’s formation that he could get out of. Edward pulled a throwing knife out and hurled it at a soldier, hitting him right in the back and killing him. “I guess all that practice came in handy,” thought Edward as he aimed, fired, and killed another enemy with another throwing knife. Even with two men down, the Cypriots were determined to kill Scott, and now Edward as well. The biggest soldier in the group, most likely the commander, swung his weapon in what would soon be a killing blow. But by swinging slowly and savoring the moment, he allowed Edward enough time to grab his last knife and lob it with all his might. The knife hit the commander in his sword hand wrist, which resulted in the commander dropping his sword and clutching the wounded hand with his left one. Scott saw the opportunity, and did not hesitate. His sword quickly put the commander out of his misery, and then moved on to parry the unrelenting attacks from the other Cypriot soldiers. Edward was soon in the midst of the adversaries like a wolf among sheep. He fought with so fiercely that the remaining few foes turned and fled. “ It was nice of you to help, but I don’t think I really needed it,” said Scott, kneeling because he was winded and had a gruesome gash on his right leg. “I strive to help even the odds. Ten on one isn’t very fair,” responded Edward, who was out of breath but not wounded. “Why did you help me even though I attempted to take your belongings on the boat?” pondered Scott, bandaging his wound with some cloth. “No one deserves to die like that, especially a fellow Englishman. I lament all of the death that happens in war, especially when it is by my hand. But then you remember what you are fighting for, and all the remorse turns to determination,” wholeheartedly responded Edward. “I’ll keep that in mind. I hate being saved by others, and hate even more owing them for it. But it is against my honor not to pay up. If I ever see you in trouble, I will help you, but not because I like you,” gruffly replied Scott. “In time you will see that you need some allies at least on the field of battle. I just hope you don’t realize it too late,” responded a frustrated Edward.
  17. It seems that quite a few people think that it is worth getting. But someone has yet to give a solid answer on what it has that the competition doesn't(besides the fact that it is SW). As for me, I'm not sure whether or not it is worth getting. Right away at least. Sure, the original game was fun. But for how long? It got boring after a while. FoC will add some new units and a new faction. Oooh....big achievement. : Look at Medieval Total War 2. How many factions does that have?
  18. If you have a moderator for each section(ie: games, fan fics, bar, general/expansion discussion, news, mods, and then some universal administrators or moderators that reside over everything). I know we have most of those, but with the forums being reset and a lot of old mods being gone, I don't know how many we have left. Also, we need someone(or more than one) to publicize PFF online, during games and what not. The idea was talked about by ZeroGravity, but as he hasn't been here for a while, the idea died. Having more people online(especially on EAW)would help other people who care about the game and have opinions about the expansion to come to the forums. Just giving someone an official title would help. Ambassador of PFF sounds better than member of PFF to someone unfamiliar to the forums. If they could help build relations with other clans out there, that would be even better. The things that Kelathin and Thrawn said are also good ideas. Btw...@AT-AT: I don't hunt down people who think. It's the people that are smart and think that are the problem. ;D Like I always say: "Don't let logic get in the way of a good idea"
  19. Dude....the whole 53rd coolest person on PFF was a joke. : I know I am the coolest guy on PFF. ;D Anywho....I don't even know what the heck is back on topic. We were talking about messed up avatars, then Cain asked if someone could make a cool PFF gif banner, and then I talked about fan fics. Something about that is probably on topic. But not about the cool rankings.(I think)
  20. Last time I asked the question, it was asking if FOC is better than the mods that are out. This time it will be different. What makes FoC stand out among the crowd in terms of the other games that are out or are coming out soon? Does it stand up to the competition? Many people will get the game simply because it is Star Wars, but there has to be a better reason than that. What does FoC offer for RTS fans that don't care if it is Star Wars, LOTR, or CnC? Does it have enough strategy(and variety)for those people?
  21. I think it's about time that Dorkthehunter posted here... Anywho...I was thinking about leaving when the forums were reset. Just because of the fact that a lot of good threads and things were deleted, and people were so busy fixing the forums and what not, that I could just leave unnoticed. But then I realized that that would be no fun! And so here I am...still here. At my computer. Typing this. (that was a bunch of fragments) I lost like 200-300 posts, but I don't really care about post count. Anywho....a "new" forum should have some new changes. I would like it if people would post more in the fan fiction section, as I seem to be the only one who even cares about that forum. Even if it is just a short comment on one of the stories, it still means a lot for people to comment on your work. I'm sure that modders like comments(negative and positive)on their works(but not too much negative)...so writers should get a little more appreciation around here. -Dorkthehunter(the 53rd coolest guy at PFF) ;D
  22. Seeing as we all lost a bunch of stuff...our avatars and sigs are probably not the same! That means more ratings!!! YEY! I still have to change the avatar....but the sig is new and(hopefully improved...but without a picture)
  23. Since the forums have been reset...I guess I will add more to this story! *all the fans(all none of them) go crazy*
  24. Hayden Christensen.
  25. George had Jar Jar speak?? NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
