  1. This is only for modders right? Also...is this seperate from PFF, a break off, or an addition, or what? (I'm not really a part of the modding community so I'm confused)
  2. Alright. I am reposting the beginning of this, as the first few posts all have weird symbols on them. It needs some cleaning up still, so maybe someone can shed some advice on how to better it. PART I: THE TOURNAMENT Clang! Edward was locked in an epic duel against his father. He was 19 years old and lived in Canterbury, England. His father was an excellent metal maker, one of the best in all of England. When the swordsman was young, he would go to the blacksmith that had been run by his family for generations and eventually he would have to run. Edward would watch his father work what seemed like magic on the swords he was making. The swords, when held barely at the handle were perfectly straight, and didn’t bend. When his father finished with his work, he would give sword-fighting lessons to Edward. His father, Sir William of Canterbury, was a famed war hero of England and after his father’s death, resigned from the military and came home to run the family business. The then young William married Elizabeth, a longtime friend and soon after became a father. The child was named Edward after William’s deceased father. He enrolled his son into one of the better schools in England, and it was quickly realized by all that William’s warrior genes had been passed on to his son. He quickly rose to the top of the class in all classes involving sword fighting. With some additional help from his father, Edward had grown up to become one of the most promising soldiers of the ages according to those around him. Edward showed this skill as he spun around to parry one of his father’s attacks. “Quick, but not quite quick enough” said Edward’s father as he stabbed with his sword. Edward ducked in time to dodge the attack, but his father spun the sword around into a right stab. Edward parried the attack, but then his father faked left, faked right, and then stabbed straight. Edward wasn’t prepared for this, and got hit in the chest. “You have to be quick all the time, not just some of the times,” gruffly said Edward’s father, “I have given you the knowledge that you need to succeed, but it is up to you to apply that knowledge to every moment of every battle. Messing up once in a war could cost you your life. You have to concentrate, Edward!” “Yes, father. I will try harder,” responded a dejected Edward. He wanted his father to be satisfied. William was always proud that his son had developed into a fine warrior, but demanded that the moves that Edward learned would become reflex so he could succeed in battle. Even as good as he was, Edward could not always meet such high expectations. “Trying harder isn’t the solution. It’s having something to fight for that gives the motivation. In a war, fighting for those you love will unlock all the skills that you have and then some.”
  3. This is a cool fan fic. One of the best I've seen. I am still wondering how a lot of people comment on this story, and no one comments on mine. I guess mine aren't this exciting...I'll work on that.
  4. There is a larger allegory in LOTR than SW. Someone wrote a book "Finding God in the Lord of the Rings" talking about that. It's a good book. But Chronicles of Narnia still has the best allegory of all time.
  5. I thought guests couldn't post. There is a guest who is posting a lot about medicine and spam like that. Can we please stop guests from posting?
  6. Thanks for being honest. I appreciate that. But getting it is the first step in enjoying it. ;D
  7. WOOT! My goal was to get at least one more person to buy FoC. It worked! HUZZAH! Anywho....if you are reading after this, you're too late. But Target is selling it for $25 starting today(Sunday), so whatever you do: Don't buy it for $30!!!!!!!!!
  8. Well...I think we should have 4 Major Gaming Sections each with some subsections, like so:(Note. Numbers equal major section, -(lines) equal subsection, and *(asteriks) equal subsubsections 1. Real Time Strategy Games -EAW *Modding -FoC *Modding -whatever else we want -some other game -etc... 2. First Person Shooters -not sure what games we want here -maybe CCS? 3. Role Playing Games -KOTOR -KOTOR 2 -something else 4. Action/Adventure -any other game worth mentioning And then we would have the Bar, News, New Members, Fan Forums, Maw, etc. As other forums, not a part of these. A few questions: 1.Should we have a seperate Slag Heap for each major gaming section? That could help seperate the slag into categories so people could actually find useful info there without looking for years. I dunno if it would work technologically to specify which Slag Heap you are sending something to... 2. Should we have a Modding Subforum for each game, certain games, or just a general one? 3. What about the Military Academy(strategy center)or whatever we want to call it? Should there be one or multiples of that? 4. We should make a post(I might do it right now)on which games the forums want us to have. There might have been one earlier, but a final one could help. I'll look into it. 5. Previews and Screenshots, News, and Tech Issues. One for each game, each gaming category, or one general one? If I think of more questions, I'll post them. -Dorkthehunter
  9. I am probably the most religious person on the site. I am Lutheran(which is Christian :) and go to church every week. I go to youth events on Wednesday and Saturday nights. I try to read the Bible every night. Yup...that's my life story. ;D
  10. And in every other store in America, it is still $30. Hurry up! Y'all are running out of time! One day left.
  11. I'm assuming no. But it could make for a good story.
  12. Mmmm....pie. I like pie. Thanksgiving is the best(well...second best)!
  13. Best Buy has it on sale, this Friday and Saturday for $15. If it will work on your computer, get it! It's half the original price, but only for two days. (November 24-25)
  14. I guess if no one else will post feedback, I will. BTW...I know this is your first draft, but will still try to post as many things that I feel should be changed as possible. Don't take anything personally. First off...nice chapter title. "Prelude to the Future" sound really cool. Good work! A good title and good chapter title makes readers want to read it. A few grammer corrections(in red): "Excellent, the fool is taking the bait." A faint smile edged across the man's face. Observing this, Captain Raavin could not help being pleased with himself and his crew. This was the first time that he had seen a candid smile on the Grand Admiral's face in his years of service. Sure, there were past smiles, but they were all calculated. Now onto the feedback. You might want to introduce the characters a little more, maybe some physical characteristics and some character traits. A little history of the characters/setting wouldn't be bad. Never try to get to the action too soon. You need a firm foundation of the characters, so that the reader will get more into the story, and identify more with a couple of them and have an "emotional link", which will get them hooked onto the story. Make sure that this background comes at the beginning, or close to it, because you want the readers to understand the background before they get to the action, not during it. Also, I think you should put a little more about the Grand Admiral's calculated smiles. You could add some characteristics of him here for a good effect. Put more about Captain Raavin and his crew. Why is the Grand Admiral on their ship in the first place? Who are they fighting and why? Grammer stuff: "Yes sir. It appears that Zaarin is preparing to abandon ship. Alpha One acknowledges that he was not present on one of the evacuating shuttles." "Good. Have Alpha(group, squadron, what?) regroup with the strike force and continue the attack on the Glory." Turning to relay the order, Raavin was immediately interrupted by Thrawn. "Wait, delay that. Notify our forces to attempt to disable the Star Destroyer. We will need information in order to root out other traitors." A couple of notes. Introduce who Zaarin is. Say a little about why they are fighting him. I'm a little confused on the first lines. Zaarin is preparing to abandon ship, but he is not present personally on one of the evacuating shuttles? So he is going down with his ship like an honorable commander? Say more about Alpha (Squadron, I assume). Who are they, what do they do, how good are they, why are they here, etc. Also, I wouldn't put "attempt to disable" because Thrawn is confident enough and good enough that it will be disabled. There is no try. Make sure you italicize any ship name because they all are in science fiction books. Grammer changes: “Copy order. Alpha One out.” "Damn," thought Maarek Stele. “I always wanted to play a part in destroying something the size of an ISD. Alpha Two, target nearest fighter and attack. looks like we have to finish up the dirty work while the gunboats get all the fun.” “Copy that Alpha Leader.” The Tie Avenger continued on its path, locked on to one of the former Grand Admiral Zaarin’s few remaining operational Tie Defenders. Maarek could almost feel the fear in the doomed pilot’s thoughts has he drove his Tie into the small space between the massive Star Destroyer and the attacking Strike Cruisers. “Target locked, firing concussion missile.” The missile rocketed out of the compact fighter almost instantly, weaving and turning as it homed onto the panicked fighter, vaporizing its shields and causing damage to the fighter’s weak fuselage. “Target hit! Proceeding to fire cannons” “Too late Maarek!” blasted Colt, Alpha Two’s pilot, as a debris cloud formed where the Defender once was. “Damnit that was mine! Oh, and that’s Tan Stele to you!” Maarek couldn’t help but smile at seeing his friend’s rapid improvement in the art of star fighting, but now was not the time to think of these thoughts. In the corner of his brain he could feel a tingling; something was going to go wrong. "Could this be a message from the Force?" he thought. Sure he was told by the priests of the Order that he was more then just a little Force sensitive, hell, he was one of the Emperors leading operatives the Emperor’s Reach, but he never noticed anything strange about his abilities other than an uncanny reflexes and amazing luck. Sure he played along and listened to the prophets aboard the Osprey, but he never thought he would be able to… I'll post more later. Hope it helps.
  15. Are you getting a video card or a graphics card, or are they one in the same? I'm planning to get a new graphics card. The one I have right now is a GeForce 2 64 mb (dead). I was thinking of getting a 256 mb because they aren't too terribly expensive, but is that good enough to run BFME II on high, SW Battlefront 2 on high(or at least good), EAW, MTW, all on highest settings? Would I have to get a 512 mb one? The one I'm looking at is a 256, but there is a 512 in the Best Buy ad this week, a Raedon...what should I get? Btw...my comp. has a 1.6 Ghz processor, so would these games work on high and not slow down?
  16. Yeah, that should be put up on some sort of poster, or at least a background to something. It should be an official screenshot, it's just that good. A true Kodak moment. Anywho...bring on more pictures! I know you all have them. Don't be afraid if your graphics card isn't good, post the pictures anyway. I can't make fun of anyone, because mine's so bad(well....I think dead is a better word)that it won't run Tiberian Sun without problems. It's seen its better days...
  17. We have to decide on something for the restructuration and we have to do it fast! The admins or whoever have to get a new skin and merge forums or PFF will die. These past few days there has not been much activity, and it's not going to get any better if we don't do something quickly. I hope this message sounds urgent enough. We have no time for procrastination, we need to take action. The News forum hasn't been updated in nearly a month. There are very few posts in the FoC section or the EAW section. Overall posting has gone down. No one posts here. Need more? I don't want to be pessimistic(I'm not trying to be), but sometimes the truth needs to be spoken. We need help. I don't want PFF to die. If anyone else feels this way, by all means, help! (Btw...if someone could tell me something I could do to help, that would be great)
  18. That could be changed if you keep it up. No more! No one else posts in this thread. It's been locked 1000 times. Obviously it is supposed to stay locked. Hopefully whoever is unlocking it sees this and stops. Enough is enough.
  19. Any tactics? (please don't say they are overpowered or the wrath of God(my best friend)will be upon you) You can post countertactics for Rebels and Imps if you want to.
  20. It should be good, but not too good. It's Super, as in huge and bristling with weapons, but remember that they have been destroyed.(on numerous occasions) They're not invincible, just scary.
  21. EDITED: For meeting ending 11/11(this Saturday). Feel free to talk about any issues, news, spammers, suggestions, etc throughout the week in this thread. Cain brought up the question I dunno much about this, but to the best of my knowledge, Fosh is right. We would have to do it thread by thread. We could make Evaders do it to prove that SWRebellion is still worth staying at....*evil grin* Since we know that we are gonna merge subforums, why don't we start doing it thread by thread now? Well first we probably have to figure out what we are going to merge them into, but we need to make a plan on this and take action on it ASAP, or else this change probably won't happen and the forums could be hurt because of it. I propose that we have at least 4 gaming forums. One for RTS, with subforums for specific games. One for FPS, with similar subforums. One for RPG/Adventure, with subforums. And one for Miscellanous games, with subforums. The 4th forum could changed to be a specific genera, or just other games that don't fit in the other 3 categories. (I think someone proposed this idea elsewhere, give them credit if you know who it was) Also, are we just doing PC games, or are we getting into console games? (only or at least mostly PC games in my humble opinion) Do we want to have a modding subforum for each game(like a sub-subforum), a generic one for each game forum, or one for all the forums(like we do know). Or will we just cover any mods and whatnot in the subforum so there will be no need for a seperate mod forum? We should decide on something by the end of the week, and then start implementing it next week.
  22. St Louis Blues and our school's Fight Song.
  23. Sadly not, they wouldn't give us tickets. > They're greedy, but heck it was still awesome.
  24. We shouldn't have a one day one time meeting. I think if we have meetings all week everyweek, like I said earlier, it will work a lot better. I know that my schedule won't work out for me being at a meeting online for a while. I can pop on the forums for 5 or 10 minutes and post replies or concerns here and that would work better. I don't think I'm the only one in this same boat. Also, we won't have to worry about hosting a meeting on some other site, we can just do it here. I am planning on starting a meeting topic for this week, ending November 11, Veterans Day.
