  1. Okay, I added two more games to the list. If you have already voted, click "remove votes" and then vote again for all four this time. Cheers, -Dorkthehunter
  2. There are a bunch of games that we need to get through, so I'm gonna increase it to 3, maybe 4 games per week.
  3. Here's how the whole thing works. You get 4 votes! Only vote once per game! Please. Vote Yes or No for the first game, which now happens to be Company of Heroes and Medieval Total War II. And then vote Yes or No for the second game, which now happens to be Medieval Total War II. Repeat for games 3 and 4. Look at the links posted below to learn more about the games before you vote! Be an educated voter. I will change the games once there is a good support for the game, or every week. Does anyone have any opinions on this? 2 new games to vote on any week sounds good, but it might take too long. Increase it to 4 maybe? (Yes...I did) Please post why you think the game should be in or why not. That's all for now, -Dorkthehunter Edit: Here's a few links to gain more info about the games: Company of Heroes: http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=3934.0 (There are good links for reviews of the game on this link) Official site: http://www.companyofheroesgame.com/ Medieval Total War II: http://pff.swrebellion.com/http://www.swrebellion.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=8.0 (our forum for the game) Official site: http://www.totalwar.com/ (click country-language you want it to be in, then it will go to the actual site) KOTOR: kotor 3 rumors: http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=3710.0 Kotor 1: http://www.lucasarts.com/products/swkotor/ http://www.lucasarts.com/products/swkotor/ Kotor 2: http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swkotor_sithlords/ Spore: http://pff.swrebellion.com/http://www.swrebellion.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=7.0 (our forums for Spore) http://www.spore.com/
  4. @ GS: You've heard the phrase "If you can't beat them, join them" right? Well, that ain't gonna apply here as long as I'm around. We can't really beat the EAW community, and we sure don't want to join them in their death. that is why we need to expand and "join" other communities, or just make our own.
  5. That is a great quote. I've heard much about the book, and agree with Mikan that it applys to EAW and really any strategy game. Note: I am Sun Tzu. Seriously. It took a long time to write that book. @ Mikan: Post more quotes from the(my)book and if you need to, I would be glad to apply it directly to EAW or other games. -Sun Tzu(Dorkthehunter)
  6. Okay...I'm confused. Aren't the games grouped by genre in what I posted first? RTS, FPS, RPG, Action/Adventure. Those are what we grouped the games by in the first place. I'm confused on what the complaint is. Apparently I did not make the point of this thread clear, and for that I appologize. I meant for this to be asking on your guys' opinions on the system. That isn't a tyranny. I wanted to clear up any issues with the basic structure before we go into polling about what games you want. This is a quote from my first post. If you could post about these questions, then we could solve the basic issues that we are facing right now. I'm sure that I speak for all the mods and administrators when I say that we want everyone's opinion to have value and for the games to be voted upon by everyone, not just in the Maw Installation. We need involvement and support from the people in order to have a good democracy(part of the "Soil of Democracy", which needs to happen in order to have a democracy) We need people to post what they want to happen to the forums in the future. If you don't want to post about it, then please PM me and I would be happy to talk about it in the Maw and in threads like these. That's my two cents, -Dorkthehunter
  7. This is the best news I've heard in a while. It's nice to know that the Petro people haven't forgotten about us. If someone with contacts or that knows the devs could ask if they could come back to PFF, that would be the best thing for the forums. Once the devs left, everything went downhill.
  8. You forgot Fan Fiction = Dead Anywho...Huzzah! Popcorn is joining me in the 223rd Crusade!
  9. Moved to Bar because it really has nothing to do with FoC, but to my surprise, more people look at the Bar than FoC Discussion anyway.
  10. Beyond.... ;D Anywho...first off, we need people to start posting more actually about EAW or FoC(besides modding, which is doing quite well) Post strategies for online or offline play, be available for some games, or something like that. Well, we want to expand(we being the forums)and cover more games, but that hasn't worked. That's above me(I think), so I will just try to help as much as a can with the power and info that has been given to me. We also need some advertisement or something because not many new people are coming(the fact that the game is already out isn't helping) That is why supporting new games on our modest site is a good idea. Games that people have a lot of interest in. That is another thing that we need a lot of help in, something that anyone could help with. Pick a game that is coming out(soon or eventually)and research it. Look for all of the updates and whatnot of the game. When it is supposed to come out, minimum system requirements, new pictures(especially the ones that aren't on the home site of the developers), videos, FAQs, blogs from developers, etc. It is important for a forum to stay up to date and dependable for the game(s)they cover. That is one of the problems of PFF. Not many News threads have been started talking about FoC, the Patch for it, and whatnot. Any news in the EAW community most of the time does not end up here. I know the game is dying out, but the least we can do is stay with it till the bitter end(which could be soon). There are some games, like Medieval Total War 2, or Spore that have threads about them in a forum, but I think we want to expand those and make them dependable and a great place to talk about the game. If people could get in touch with developers or people like that who are making the game and see if a representative from them could join the forums, that would help big time. The PG's of PFF were great, until they all left us. > (but that's a different story) The biggest thing is to make quality posts about the games and to have lots of people making these posts so that the forums are a boring monologue of one person(or a few people)trying to promote interest. Publicity is probably the next biggest thing. Some EAW forums know about us, but we want for the big gaming forums to know PFF and respect us in good competition. That's all folks, -Dorkthehunter
  11. Look at the poll. What can we do in 2007 that will save the forums? I think most of us now what to do, now it's up to us to actually do it. I feel like I'm the only one that seems to want to do something about saving the forums, and have posted numerous threads about different things on the topic, and yet those are buried by threads that don't matter or are just ignored. That makes me sad. I know there are people out there(most I can name)that like these forums and want to help, and then there are others who like the forums, but are too lazy to help. Some might not know what they can do to help...let's find out:
  12. New avatar, signature, and outlook on life. (Well two out of 3 ain't bad) Btw...SWM: 6/10 Avatar: Dead dog, sleeping dog, weird... 10/10 Sig: Great quote! Patton is one of the coolest guys ever. And the visual is cool. Rate me! (I got no visual, but I got soul)
  13. Are you playing with heroes? Then you might be able to pull something off. If you can get Admiral Ackbar, Rogue Squadron(not necessarily needed), Millenium Falcon, and Antilles together, then you can fight one of the Imperial fleets and could win(hopefully you can fight their weakest one)or a pirate fleet if any exist. While you are waiting for the heroes, you have two primary options on what to do with your money: 1. Spend all your money on ground defenses(shields, turbolasers, buildings to get automatic troops from during a battle, etc.) Always keep some money aside(a little bit, not much)for the emplacements that you can put defenses, bacta, or repair stations on. Those can be rather helpful in a tight spot. As always, try to use the automatic forces that your buildings give you to take the fight to the enemy and capture their reinforcement points. If you need to use the forces that you made in order to successfully capture the reinforcement points, then do that. But make sure that they don't all get killed(obvious, but crucial). If you are losing the battle for the reinforcement points, or are just taking a lot of damage, retreat your built forces to a safer point(hopefully one with defenses). Also, if you have a shield generator, make sure that you defend the power generator at all costs(the thing on Hoth that the Imps blow up). If that goes down, your base is wide open for attack. And only a foolish enemy will attack the base with the shield up. Lay a trap for the enemy at the generator with the automatic troops, and then use your built troops to close all escape routes and lay waste to their forces. Note: This strategy will only work as long as you still have your buildings and forces on the ground. Keep them alive! 2. First off, make sure you have an ion cannon on the ground of the planet that you choose to attack the space with your heroes. Use the ion cannon on big ships or spacestations only(they sometimes miss Tartans)for full effect. Once the ion cannon hits the target, immediately blast its shield generator so that the shields will not come back and then take care of the weapons. If you just want to do a quick hit and run attack, send a quick hero or two up into space and use them to attack all of the enemy transports. You know what is in those transports? The ground fleet that was going to attack you. You may lose a hero, but the enemy just lost a lot of reasources in those troops that you annihilated. And you have to go straight for the transports, don't let anything else distract you. If you have Admiral(or General...or Commander...whatever he is in this game)Ackbar, you may be able to take the whole space portion of the planet with a well executed attack. Once you take that space, use all of the reasources that you have been saving(it is a risky move, but it is better not to improve ground forces or buildings for this strategy to work)and build a spacestation followed by ships. Your enemy will probably attack you soon after you win the first battle, but if you send a raid to one of the nearby planets and capture it, they will be more distracted with that(hopefully)and you will get some time to build up your forces. Note: This is a hard road, but if it works you could manage to survive. A few notes on space battles: Star Destroyers(all types)cannot fire behind them. If you can put a hero or two behind a Star Destroyer and take out its engines, then you can shoot all of its other hardpoints from behind it, where it can't hit you. But you have to make sure that your ships don't get in range. I think that a ship can still turn if it's engines are gone, but it moves really slowly, so hit and run moves(or just blowing it up with Home One)will work. Tartans are not good to small ships. They become space dust quickly. Have Home One destroy as many as possible, and send Rogue Squadron to destroy the space station's hanger with their Lucky Shot(if you don't already us it to destroy the shields)If you destroy the hanger and all their Tartans, they will be all gone and there will be peace. Well...almost. I hope this works for you dthif 1980, if it doesn't or you find a new problem, don't hesitate to post it even if it sounds like an obvious question or a dumb one. Doing my part to save the forums, -Dorkthehunter
  14. There are 4 yes votes, and yet none of them have posted. Why? Anywho...Ghostly brings up some good points. 1. Yeah...I've been noticing that too, and I'm Dorkthehunter. ;D 2. Negative bandwagon...that's why PFF needs to expand and cover in detail more games than EAW. 3. I've started some decent topics(this one, PFF Revolution, others about the future of the forums)and it seems like few people care. Also, the FoC and EAW discussions are rarely posted in because people really don't care much I guess. 4. The Petro Forums were not good to us. All the devs just abandoned us, which was not very nice of them. We supported them(for the most part)and made them feel as welcome as possible and then they just leave us. That definately did not help my opinion of Petroglyph(note: I still like them, but am not very happy with them right now) 5. Hmmm.....we should probably do something about that. 6. True statement. I know there are other forums that cover other games that are like us right now. Their game is out, interest is declining and they only really cover one game. If we could somehow join with these forums, than we would have a forum with multiple games that have come out already, and then could expand to cover future games in the same category.
  15. Whoever voted yes, don't be shy. Tell us why you think 2006 was a good year for the forums. I am interested to see your reasoning.
  16. Well...a big question is which side are you, Rebels or Imperials?
  17. Looking back on 2006, well...FoC came out, some old members came back, then they along with others left due to the forums reseting which deleted all of the posts from September(or whenever the heck this thing happened)back to April, Petroglyph started their own "official forums" and all the devs abandoned us, and since then interest has been steadily dying. Yeah....I would definately say that this has not been a good year for PFF. Bad Year. Note: After this one has been posted in by some people, I will start a new thread talking about what we can(or need) to do to make 2007 a great year for the forums.
  18. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! :o They strike again! http://pff.swrebellion.com/http://www.swrebellion.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=55845#p55845 Someone please make it so that guests can't post on any of the forums!
  19. I know this isn't directly about FoC, but I wanted to post this where hopefully a lot of people would read it, and not too many people look at the Bar. Note: Here is the link for the previous discussion. http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=3595.0 So anywho, we're trying to expand the forums to cover more than just EAW and Petroglyph games. I think most of y'all know that, and I think there has been a thread about what we should add, but I didn't want to just add on to that one. This is a pressing issue and I think that everyone should have their two cents inputted into the final decision. 1. One of the big questions is whether or not we should stay here at swrebellion or not. Spartan has given us an offer that looks quite good(posted in one of the later pages of the thread address posted above) It's like the game show Deal or No Deal...except with Spartan's offer instead of money. So people of the forums: Deal? or No Deal? 2. Another question is what forums/subforums to have. To the best of my knowledge, this is what we have come up with: Well...I think we should have 4 Major Gaming Sections each with some subsections, like so:(Note. Numbers equal major section, -(lines) equal subsection, and *(asteriks) equal subsubsections 1. Real Time Strategy Games -EAW *Modding -FoC *Modding -whatever else we want -some other game -etc... 2. First Person Shooters -not sure what games we want here -maybe CCS? 3. Role Playing Games -KOTOR -KOTOR 2 -something else 4. Action/Adventure -any other game worth mentioning And then we would have the Bar, News, New Members, Fan Forums, Maw, etc. As other forums, not a part of these. A few questions: 1.Should we have a seperate Slag Heap for each major gaming section? That could help seperate the slag into categories so people could actually find useful info there without looking for years. I dunno if it would work technologically to specify which Slag Heap you are sending something to... 2. Should we have a Modding Subforum for each game, certain games, or just a general one? 3. What about the Military Academy(strategy center)or whatever we want to call it? Should there be one or multiples of that? 4. We should make a post(I might do it right now)on which games the forums want us to have. There might have been one earlier, but a final one could help. I'll look into it. 5. Previews and Screenshots, News, and Tech Issues. One for each game, each gaming category, or one general one? The sooner we can get this figured out, the sooner the forums can be revived and PFF can once more become a center for gaming(like Venice was a center for learning back in the Roman Empire days....never mind)
  20. Gonna Fly Now-from the movie Rocky(the only song from that movie that anyone knows)
  21. I wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Relax a bit and enjoy yourselves. If you are going to get anything(realisticly, not just something you want)tell us.
  22. There's one in EAW about Han, right as he's dying: "I'll see you in hell!" ;D That's the best one.
  23. I got the same problem! So it's a no for me too.
  24. Alright....I am curious about how many people actually play FoC from the forums. Please post why you play the game(elaborate more than what the poll says)or why you don't play the game. I really don't want this to become a thread where people just talk about what FoC should have to make it better, but you can mention that in why you don't play it or rarely play it. Your input is greatly appreciated!
  25. Should get the special one(it's shiny..... ;D)or the regular one? From what I've heard the regular one is just fine and the collector's edition doesn't add much. Any suggestions?
