Sorry guys... explaination for the downtime and server reset

 

Good news though, this forum is running Simplemachines 1.1 RC3 now. Which means better protection against spam accounts, as well as many other issues fixed such as posting the words feedback

A couple of thing that need to be put back up is,

the Forces of Corruption Folder for threads

that and all the sub forums

How many months we are now back in time?

 

 

OMG - we are 700 members low - jesss - why no backups have been made in 6 months?

 

 

HA HA HA - the old lost deleted mods in attachements are back .... pls make sure you don't delete them by mistake again. And we need the subforums missing back up.

 

I think I am a little upset.

Well I'm seriously upset with the site I just had to re register  ???

it happens i lost over 300posts.

 

but i really would like to know why there were no backups for the last 6 months.

OMG Somebody set us up the bomb!  But, it doesn't necessarily matter about post counts and such to me.  I'm just glad the forumz are back!

Evaders... wtf... I saved your databases. You need to manually install them. If you need help mssg me on AIM.. and again If you need help with the ircd and services.. let me know.

Whoa...Fosh is just a moderator, lol. Uhm, yeah. I think some things need to be done:

 

• Give Fosh admin powers. (check, done)
   
  
• Reinstate the sub-forums.(About half done)
   
  
• Give Moderators (like me) their powers back. (half done)
   
  
• Get Juggernaut off CnC 3.

 

And that's just a few things.

Thanxs for calling me a dunce... *shrugs* - I'm just doing the job that Stratus did. I'm still trying to figure out why we didn't have active backups in place.

Whatever was recovered did not have the complete backup. Notice what you had was all of 3 MB. I had to restore the backups from April, which were nearly 280 MB of files.

hey!

there are others that need their moderator powers back. Me Included.  SWM as well.

and a lesson learnt from this is to make regular back ups of the server even if its like once a month.

no, its not the post count I am bothered about - its the content I am upset about loosing stuff I posted about. Really find it unbelivable that no one thought to make a recent back up of a site that is as popular as this.

from reading what is being said by Evader and FOsh i'm guessing that they did have recent back ups they just wouldn't work.

Post count never really mattered, since we all know each other well.  It is the topics we lost and info, but lots of things can be remembered and brought back.

That's true, but I lost 253 posts...

now we can use this chance to not make any of the mistakes of the past. now does anyone remember those mistakes? ;D

i lost my account(if you would have backed a database a few days later i would have had my old account....what luck )

bah if they had of backed it up 4mins later i would have had an avatar. now the site doesnt like any of my avatars i dont know why
