Why wouldn't single player count? I play a heck of a lot more single player than I do multi-player due to the fact I've to drive 15 minutes to get to a location the has an acceptable connection. Single palyer modding is very important to me to keep game entertaining longer. Play UT2k4, they've quite a few mod servers for things like Jailbreak and Gemfeeder. Also Starcraft and Warcraft have possibly more mod games going than regular games. The Battlefield series hasn't really been mod friendly for online play, Desert Combat was a major exception to this, but from what I understand EA is a bit of an ass when it comes to mod community support. Another problem I find with mods is that they're made by fans. Somethings are incomplete, have various exploits, aren't balanced properly, and/or simply don't fit with the gameplay, so it doesn't bring the best multiplayer experience. Slaughtering helpless bots however is a different matter.
