  1. Looks like one of the older Warcraft RTSs.
  2. People learned not to ask... Exspecially after FFXI where dudes accidently married dudes becuase one had a female avatar..... Which makes one wonder, what was the one with the female avatar thinking? Though I've no idea what you just typed, that wasn't it. It was a compound term.
  3. Well boys and girls, the next generation of rabid fanboy-isms and console icons smashing each other has begun! In this-a corna we've the wanna-be PC, the monster from Microsoft, the all-american console, the challanger, the X-BOX THREEEEEEEE SIXTAAAAY!!!! And in this-a corna we've the beast from the east, emperor console from the land of the rising sun, from the champin' company of the last gen wars, the enigmatic yet powerful PLAAAAAYSTATIONNNN THREEEEE!!!!! And watching from outside the ring is the Nintendo Revolution. Touch gloves!!! And.... Debate!!! *Note: I know the most information about the X-box 360 atm, so that entry will be dis-proportanatly large. It doesn't mean I'm all for the 360, but that I know more about it. X-360: No, I'm never going to touch upon the 180, becuase frankly, it is a waste of money. Save up another $100 and just get the out-of-the-box HD compatible, wireless controller, and hard-drive built in 360. The launch games I can't comment on due to the fact I care not for any of them. Ok, maybe I've high hopes for Gears of War and Kameo looked intresting but not really. Honestly, Perfect Dark Zero will be bugged out, Condemed look good for the action and graphics but everything else screams "MEDIOCRE!!!!!" The rest of the games are so "blah" I haven't even bothered to track them. Oblivon will be on PC so that will be duely ignored by me when it comes out for the 360, and DoA 4 didn't make launch so no worries there (but the jiggly chests *drools*.... I need to get out more.) But outside of the initial release, some things are shaping up to look oh so sexy!!! Games if note, Chrome Hounds (un-abashed, gloriuos mech combat!!!) and Gears of War (looking very sexy indeed, though I hate console FPSs.) BUT NONE OF THOSE GAMES MATTER!!!! Indeed, for Live! Arcade is by far the most awesome console application which will induce retina ejecting! I don't care what you say, but Smash TV, Joust, and a bunch of oldie games with online capability has me more excited and giggly than a 14 year old school girl at a popular boy band concert! Yes I even managed the high octave squeal they manage when a couple of those games were announce for Live! Arcade. I would buy this console just for that, but there are two problems *bum bum bummmmm* 1) Good luck on getting a 360 this year. 2) You need a broadband connection to connect to Live! and un-fortantly I live in the middle of nowhere and my satilite doesn't cut it. *Insert crying here* Playstation 3: What do I know about the PS3? Good question. I know that Sony has been f'ing up the last month and PS2 owners are 50% less likely to purchase a PS3 than a 360. I know also the majority of casual gamers are taking a "wait and see" approach before buying and X-box 360 or PS3, including yours truely. I know that Sony will not have standardized online support (which goes under Sony f'ing up.) I know that the the PS3 will be Blu-Ray compatable. I know that the PS3 could potentially have be the most powerful console of this generation. And finally, I know that the PS3 will not be released untill at least next year! So I'm going to sit back and watch this one before making a final judgement. Sony has shown it's wile in the past and I'm not one to count them out quite yet. No, I'm not commenting on speculation on the possible controller, lack of announced games or any of the other little f'ups that I may of may not have forgotten. Nintendo: HD support? Nope. Booooooo!!!! Being developed as a second console for the X-box 360 or PS3? Yup, good marketing hopefully. Supports a centralized online service? Yup, and about time too. Smash Bros. 3.... YAAAAAAAAYYYYY! Ablility to download a lot of Nintendo's games from NES to Gamecube!?!?!?! *screams like a 13 year old fan-girl and faints* This, boys and girls, is the console I'm most definitly going to get. A) It will be the cheapest on the market, the big N has promised that and I'm going to hold them to it considering what they've cut. B) The downloadable Nintendo library.... If Stunt FX is availble... *faints* Edit to all end all edits: I'm tired for it is 10 pm. I screw up when I'm tired... Do the math. I put a poll. Good knight.
  4. "R U a grl irl? Got nude pics?" Bah... I hate people sometimes, I had a female monk once on NWN and never again. According to some of my MMO playing friends they have a term for males playing females, but I dunna think I can repeat it here.
  5. Canada, but that is besides the point. I only came across the C&C series (and RTS in general) after my friend bought Red Alert and made me play it. Heck, if it weren't for that I'd probably be a console fanboy!
  6. W/M make for nasty combos, but they tend to heal only themselves and will fall to mob attacks and ability score attacks if left un-supported. Yeah, I had to play "Res the Party" 7 times, and sometimes I had to res individuals who got to far ahead, with mosters on my arse (and they never caught me the slow biatchs.) The storm/windriders in the Widerness were probably the most annoying. The most effective tatic was to get an ranger to aggro one monster at a time and lure back to the awaiting party for an ambush. If you had multiple riders and trolls on you, your party was going to be hurting real bad or dead. This tatic could take awhile, exspecially if the party was being beligerent saying we didn't need a plan, just go and kill things while I healed them, in which case things usually turned into another episode of "Res the Party." If they did listen after awhile or right away the tatic would take awhile but it was better than the 20 to 30 minute ordeal that was "Res the Party."
  7. From what I read they were deployed and retrieved from orbit. From wikipedia: LAAT/i (Space-deployed) Certain models of this transport can deploy from space, but requires a mothership vessel such as the Acclamator-class assault ship (This variant could be called a High Altitude Assault Transport). This variant appears in Star Wars: Battlefront II. Edit: Ahhhh.... Different variant. Also they show them being deployed from orbit in the animated series.
  8. You know how to model, texture, and code? Or are you looking for some sla... Volenteers to help with it? Yes my dictionary is MIA and I can't spell.
  9. I had a white monk and a warrior/monk when I played in the beta. The pure monk was the most fun since I enjoyed playing the role of savior many times (as in having to res the entire party while trying not to aggro) and I didn't have to worry about dying as often since I stuck near the back. Not to mention since I specialized in nothing but healing and protection, I was in high demand and leveled up very quickly. My tank character was fun also, but there were so many it was harder to get into a party and harder to level. But since I couldn't mod this game and have no need for social interactions in a game I quit playing after the beta finished. I just didn't find the game that intresting.
  10. LAATs are space capable, they just don't have a hyperdrive. Their primary use was ground assault ships, but they made for nasty gunships in space also. I got to play this game at the LAN center and I still don't like it. The AI is still retarded (I walked right past the enemy on the hardest difficulty on some city map and they didn't fire at me), weapons still don't feel right, and they've gotten rid of most of the ground vehcile maps. Yes, there are space fighter maps, but I don't like the controls or feel of the space fighters and the TIE isn't agile or fast enough to pose a threat to a decent X-wing pilot. Also they nerfed the graphics on the PC so it could be easily ported to console, so the PC game look very mediocre. Blah...
  11. Dude, a C&C game has been allegedly in the works since Generals. Heck one was un-officially announced at the release of the first BFME. As the saying goes, I'll believe it when I see it.
  12. The only real advantage the allies had were the GAP generators and the GPS satilite. Also, with my Nuklear Bob hack disk, I switched out that weak gun the Gunboat had for an AA gun. Couldn't hit ground targets, but at least your cruisers were less vulenrable. If you ever played a mulitplayer battle, exspecially 1-on-1, you'll find that hit and run tatics really don't work. Usually its a tank spam feast, whoever has the most wins (unless you have some evil micro skillz.) What was valuable at the time? Tanks, tanks, and maybe a crusier/MiG fleet. Ghostly... You bum...
  13. Meh, turrets and tesla coils can only do so much against a full on tank rush. I say Allies were more horde in the fact your best tatic is to turn out as many medium tanks as possible. Usually you could out-number the soviets 2-to-1 with tanks, but the problem was that a mammoth could take down a medium , possibly a second one and damage a third before blowing up. Soviets also owned the air with the MiGs, Yaks, and Hinds. The Apache was ok for tank busting, but the Soviets had more to play with and had a broader range of targets. Also the soviet air force > Allied navy. The MiGs could sweep by the destroyer screen and peg the cruisers. Mind you, you probably lost 6 or 7 MiGs (out of 12), but taking out 3 or 4 cruisers was a lot more costly in time and money the Allies. The rescue Tanya mission wasn't that bad once you had good AA up to stave off the MiGs and occasional Hind. Also if you managed to capture the Airfields in the soviet base, those Yaks were invaluble for softening up incoming enemies. The one that had me cursing was the one where you had to dis-able all the nuclear silos. I really hate having to hit an objective under a set time limit. Iron Curtian was a Soviet super weapon that could turn units in a limited area invincible for a short while. Un-like the Chronosphere, nothing bad happened after using it more than 3 times. Oh another con: You only could produce one unit at a time no matter how many war factories/barracks/naval yards/sub pens you had. Edit: the iron curtian could also kill infantry when it was used on them. So only use the IC on vehicles.
  14. The hardware topic isn't a sticky.... *sigh* Time to go archive spelunking. http://pix.aregner.com/uploads/1132519856_crazyminer.gif I take it you don't know how to do a reformat then. Hmmmm.... My best advice is not to worry about it then. I mean you could try buying and installing another copy of BF2, but I'm thinking that won't work. I kind of have to look at your computer to see what you have and have not in the way of files. To bad it will be another year before I learn how to do system and file recoveries.
  15. Exactly. If people feel the need to comment on something, they should take the two minutes it takes to go through the archieve to find a related post. After going through that and they still feel the need to post let them. Its better than posting up new threads on old topics and re-treading the sme ground.
  16. Con: Second to last or last soviet mission. Your suppose to capture the radar dome, but when you do you lose. If you blow it up, you lose. If you blow up everything and do either of those two previous actions I mentioned, yuo still lose. I forget how I ended up finishing that level. Friskin' weak nukes. They were pathetic. Semi-con: Mammoth tank < everything. Yeah. Allies had the advantage in numbers, but when you saw 40 mammoths rolling in and the enemy had an Iron Curtian, you know your f****ed. Allies raped he soviets on navy maps. Even with the Aftermath exspansion and the addition of the Typhoon sub, allies still owned the seas. Pro: Track 1 I think. Hell March. Line up your troops, switch it to that music track and watch the fire works. Massive Yak attacks. Yeah, MiGs work better on buildings and armor, but using 30 some odd Yaks is so much more fun! The Nuklear Bob hack disk. Allowed me to switch the armor and weapons of units. Standard infantry unit with aircraft machine gun and a flak gun. Also the gernade solider who threw napalm, and the rocket solider who fired nukes and SAM missiles.
  17. A) What are your comps specs? B) Try re-formatting your computer and re-installing it.
  18. I have trouble seeing how that is any worse than people creating the same topic and having just one sentence for a post. For example, how many SSD threads do we have in the General Discussion? At my last count it was three, but more may have been added or remove since then.
  19. NWN single player was very plot drive, and though there were side quest, there wasn't much to do outside of your quest. You could just raid a cave to loot treasure, because there was no cave that didn't involve a quest objective. Another thing that annoyed me about NWN is that you were basiclly stuck with what you could carry. Carry everything you need, buy more if you need it, or sell it off if you have no use for it. Some multiplayer mods allowed for random duengons and such which made things intresting. A few even allowed "storehouse" of sorts where you could rent something like a locker to store items in. One even had a bank where you coul earn intrest off your money.
  20. Yeah, this is why I stay out of General Discussion and rarley go here anymore. That and some of the newer people are getting to me in a annoying way. The Cantina and the Games section are my home now! And if we could get anything going in the Clan forum, that'd be nice too.
  21. Don't worry about that Dark, NWN2 is going to very, very similar in gameplay to NWN1. So stay away!!! I never tried any of the Morrowwind series, how is that?
  22. 1) That would require effort on my part. 2) I listed the sites the previews can be found at. Simply type in the game's name in their site search if you can't find it on the front page. 3) Pictures don't tell you much, exspecially whne they are of a alpha build of the game and only show enviromental stuff (like plants, water, furniture, ect.)
  23. Only thing that kept NWN on my hard-drive as long as it was on there was it's modability. I didn't care for the single player campiagns (I got through the first of 5 chapters of NWN before quitting, half way through SoU, and beat HotU), and the combat got boring after awhile. But you could come up with really intresting mini-games, maps, and abilities even with just the mod tools the game provided. I created a small game where your objective was to steal an object from a fort which was really difficult for even a lvl. 15 rouge to obtain. So I created a potion that polymorphed you into a living archery target so you could sneak through the archery range and get to the objective. The trick was to time it so you were in position before the targets popped up and try to avoid lanes that are occupied and/or have good archers (the trainees would rarely hit the target.) So yeah, NWN was a fun game if you played around with mods.
  24. I'll stick to my space marines thank you. Even if this is a darker type fantasy realm, its still another friskin' fantasy realm. Ehhh, l I might still try it after its out, but I really don't like medieval era combat RTSs.
  25. I've seen screens from a third person view, so I'm guessing no. Well... The screens had a character in the center which I think may be the player. I haven't played any of the early games so I dunno.
