  1. Interesting views all round. My rather vague referance to Zanshin was a bit misleading, so i've done a little search and reckon this more or less goes some way of explaining more or less what I (failed) to imply... In layman's terms it is a mental approach to combat, and not exclusive to oriental society. Someone who has trained in boxing for years might aquire it, a black belt at Karate might not have aquired it. A regiment of well-drilled soldiers are more likely to have it than a regiment of poorly trained conscripts. It is difficult to translate, and shouldn't be confined to zen-like states of Bushido for example. For an entire regiment of clones to possess it, having known virtually nothing other than Spartan-style militaristic training since they entered the world from their spaarti tanks, makes much more formidable soldiers to fill the Empire's ranks than recruits who may actually hinder this militaristic nature in combat. ...just my curve on the subject...
  2. Thought this through dude? Figure, clones are the elite of the elite. Trained from birth to kill in every means possible, and at a budget; the galactic Empire can clothe and arm it's 'shocktroops' (as Stormtroopers are always described, indicating the Empire had regular 'normal' troopers...ie guys dressed in black without masks) completely the same. No helmet or armour size variation, etc. It's like adding to a regiment of the SAS with regular army troops. Zanshin. Look it up. ...I am in no way suggesting the Empire is held together by an army of clones; but that is how in every reference to Stormtroopers as shocktroopers are basically described! They are sparten and militaristic to the core and steadfastly loyal to the Emperor! Before any of you quote me wrongly; when Han Solo chased those troopers on the Death Star, it was a tactical retreat....
  3. ... one day Jahled ! .... one day / I just need a bit more time ... and then I will have a big surpirse for you ... ... I hope it will be a plesant one. Well, I hope it's a happy one! But with all respect, I understand you not. You appear to be an marketing department's wet dream. What's you signiture all about? You haven't played this game yet go on and on about it as if quite frankly you know all about it. So what are you on about here about EaW? Essentially I detect the negative feedback here at least to be from experiance concerning hype. You in particular seem to have been so overwelmed by it, which in turn I simply don't understand. Why all this continued energy into promoting something you haven't yet had any experiance of?
  4. Despite having a look in everyday now for a while, I must confess to be loosing interest fast, given there's so little you can actually do.
  5. I want one. I might just buy one tomorrow.
  6. It's not just a Light Saber thing. Years ago I used to go to Games Conventions where there would always be the entertaining sight of fully armoured knights dueling each other with swords as you stand in line. Begs the question though... what happens when your standing in line for a gun convention...
  7. I'm still waiting (hoping?) for the Jedi to defeat an evil-race of warriors in these clone wars in RotS, as was vaguely/briefly stated in the book of the ESB as Boba Fett is introduced... ...perhaps there was a spelling mistake* and it should have read: 'wearing the armour of an evil warrior defeated by the Jedi in the Clone Wars.' EDITiness: It didn't actually imply it was dark purely for those reasons dude! I think one could more or less say that it is 'dark' for the reasons the entire film is one long chase for most of the characters from the Empire, and certainly the maturist in content of any of the films to date. Err..sort of thing.. *With the grace of hindsight
  8. Interesting find dude, but as per normal with anything to do with replica lightsabers, the cost is the hassle...
  9. Speaking of which, things have been somewhat quiet of late in our region... Here's mine: http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=jahled
  10. Me agrees with Nelson. And thus broader point: Of the original three movies I prefered ESB. Why? Because it was the darkest... From what i've seen of RotS it is dark. The Empire is born, cloned Stormtroopers will turn there guns on the Jedi, and the Jedi are subsequently largely wiped out.... thus comming full circle of Palpatine's fiendish design started with a blockade of a backwater planet called Naboo. Despite taking three movies to achieve, a good piece of story telling on GL's behalf. He has engineered the Republic's demise by manipulation of factions brilliantly, and created the excuse to create an Empire, and subsequently exhausted and destroyed the Jedi. I believe it was Palpatine who ordered that Clone Army on Kamino btw...
  11. Utter crap.
  12. Pol Pot-I did it my way
  13. Your Beak-powers overwelm you dude! Where are all these alien civilizations? We haven't heard a word, and quite frankly they've had several billion years to be broadcasting their equivelent of 'crap soap opera aired nightly for your displeasure,' for us to detect here on what is quite frankly Tattooine. Nothing. I don't doubt the evolotion of matter on other system bodies, I am just convinced of the impossibility of faster than light travel. Something other than than mid-west American Farmers scared shitless by entities yet unknown would have bothered to be here by now. For ham?
  14. On this issue I think as always we were right! If it's Imperial, has a face obscured by a helmet; it's a clone. The Empire. Do not quote ANYTHING non-movie in reply to this particular post.
  15. Emm... I actually bought a game cube just to play that game with Jedi Outcast to boot, but my game cube was faulty and I elected to get my money back rather than have a replacement (given I paid for it by credit card) ...why? Because I don't actually like the majority of consol games, and with Nintendo the choice is much more limited in terms of Playstation for example. But anyway, I doscovered two things with the brief experiance: The first was that I prefer PC's as a platform to play games. You get to be able to mod stuff like you can't on a gamming consol; so in some respects I might disagree with some aspect of JI's post in a squaring the triangle sort of way. I found Jedi Outcast to be vastly inferior to what I enjoyed on my PC (when it worked-the good old days!), it looked crap and the Game cube's hand-thingy is simply dreadfull. The second was why had I just had to buy a Game Cube to play Rogue Squadron II? I salivate when I see screen shots; why with hold it from the PC gamming community? What you just said M78 makes me feel I am really missing out on a damn good title!!
  16. Lego sure as hell has come a long way since I was constructing wierd stuff in the seventies. Kids* these days. Don't know how lucky they are. *And it seems adults with large disposable incomes....
  17. Which is a damn good point. Granted those two games are now very old and visually dated, but I still have memories of experiancing a sense of magic when I certainly played Dark Forces and Jedi Knight that has long since not been felt with more recent games, except perhaps Jedi Outcast. It seems to me in the last couple of years Lucas Arts have been releasing games without this 'Star Wars,' feeling/atmosphere, or whatever, hence they seem to age and be forgotten very quickly... Just a theory.
  18. I can't play the original Jedi Knight on my PC at the moment because it's so old and crap. Forgive me for not getting over excited. **But GAT needs moderator powers here lol**
  19. Gosh! Congrats M78! The Force is with you!
  20. Which quite accurately demonstrates why I personnaly view the EU as absolute crap. In the sorry tale, Darksaber, I was led to believe Daala 'removed,' feuding-Imperials and combined a rather dramaticly-composed fleet (on screen); subsequent events over Yavin just enforce how stupid the EU has become. To think, from the spoilers i've seen of EP III it isn't just Anakin on the rampage taking out the Jedi, but Clone troopers ***cough***stormtroopers***cough*** piecemeal; as the Prime minister of Kimino states, 'they are far more effective than droids.' So Paelleon's fleet hurled through space. Darksaber led me to believe he had enough Star Destoyers and Victorys to reduce Yavin to molten-slag, and enough troops to conqueror a few student-Jedi... But as per-normal in the EU something truely stupid is written and 'our heros overcome all.' In this reality, Daala would just shrug her sholders and become a waitress. Nothing much else more ridiculous she would logically do with legions of cloned-soldiers at her command. Forgive me. I will quote Darksaber as long as anything other than the movies are quoted as canon. For the EU is barely more than than some rather childish adventure of the Power Rangers to me. My own opinion of course.
  21. Off you go dude! Evaders might be able to salvage something from it...
  22. Look at LF's post above you....
  23. Yay! Enjoy all!
  24. Actually I don't recall muttering anything by Zahn, whose Thrawn books were exactly how the EU should have been... an entertaining and almost believable Sci-Fi read considering! The ingrediants Zahn used were all I need to satisfy my love of Star Wars, and what he didn't use (Supernova-inducing missiles from a fightercraft, Star Destroyers twelve miles in length, Jedi's hurling multiple mile long starships through space, etc) all the more so. Don't get me wrong, whilst i've given up on the books these days for the reasons i've already outlined, I enjoy a good comic; Dark Empire for example is entertaining and brilliantly drawn, but to be quoted as anything resembling the Star Wars I got out of the films. I don't think so. In this is where the canon stuff breaks down into being silly in my opinion. I went through the Imperial ships bit of the force.net site and was reduced to laughter and tears in equal measure at obscure referances to ships from Dark Empire... Kam Kennedy is an artist for a living; he has a unique and very entertaining method of illustration that sort of does stuff like make Star Destroyers or SSD's look a bit different. So now this slight variation is canon? Force.net details images of ships seen in tiny panels as something unique. This was just Dark Empire. Force.net then wanders off into the the rather 'way out there' Marvel comics from the seventies and eighties; which even by an ape, whose just had a full frontal lobotomy, might just consider 'a bit far-out man!' So my own canon is what I see and love in the movies, which is quite alot now to be going on. Your's, or anybody elses, can of course be what ever if wants to be. I just think that things get a little messy if we include everything published thus far as canon.
