  1. I'd be willing to play multiplayer. I guess the best option is to hook up via email and set up a time. I'm on EST and could play tonight at 9:00. In my experience (limited playing against humans) it will take a few evenings to complete a game...
  2. Try it. If you set the sector importance to high, all sectors will be treated like core systems. You probably noticed that rim sectors generally have lower raw materials and energy. Setting the importance to high for all sectors tends to have greater raw materials and energy, giving much greater opportunity for maintenance points. Also, the AI will be more aggressive in trying to take over sectors with high importance.
  3. I will tarnish his name and spit in his coffee. The guy if freaking blue for crying out loud!
  4. Can someone repost qui gon's communicator? I only see the razor...
  5. If you want some action, use Rebed to populate all planets and set the importance of each sector to high. This creates a faster start, and the potential for a LOT of maintenance points. When I play this way, I often play tactical battles with 50+ capital ships and hundreds of fighters per side. Also fix it so your opponent has really cheap ships/fighters/troops. I usually cut them by half. This allows your oponnent to create huge fleets. If my oponent is the Empire, I set the Death Start to a cost of 100 and a maintenance of 100. It's fun to blow them up. Finally, I just tried this last night so I don't know the results, but I've set the research flag to '0' for my oponent. This means he will have access to all ships/fighters/troops at the start of the game while I'll have to research. I'll let you know how that goes.

    Fleeting...

Yeah, if you still have the save game, you should try to resolve it yourself to see what happens.
  7. I've found subdue uprising missions to be pretty dangerous, with my chars getting killed quite often. I try to use major chars for these missions if at all possible. You can use commandos or guerillas as decoys to help out.

    Fleeting...

This is what I think has happened... In a previous thread, we had established that if you used Rebed to allow the Rebels to access the Death Star, you were in for a surprise. When you go into tactical, the Empire takes it over, even though it is built by the Rebels. The Rebels can't control it. I suspect that the Death Star took out the Bulwark, then some of your fighters took out the Death Star. The AI can't seem to handle the Rebels with a Death Star in Tactical mode.
  9. I actually tried this a couple of weeks ago. I set all the minor characters to be recruited by both sides. I started my game with my standard set of characters, but I could not have any successful recruitement missions. I just kept trying and trying with no success. Guy

    Defection

I tend to play both about equally. I do like playing the rebels because there is a greater variety in the style of their cap ships. They don't all look like cheese wedges. On the other hand, a fleet of 30-40 assorted cheese wedges does look pretty intimidating...

    Defection

This means that the char with low loyalty will screw up your missions causing them to fail mor often. Unfortunately the game will not allow chars to actually change sides.

    Defection

There is also a Loyalty factor for each character. You can see this in RebEb. Set it 20 rather than 100 and you'll see that guy defecting all the time...
  13. What do they smuggle anyway? Refined materials? If so, who cares?
  14. Jahled, I submitted this last night to Lucasarts. I'm eagerly waiting for their reply... Elvis, I have the setting set to "Don't Switch". This is driving me nuts. I can be zapping someone with that cattle prod thing and all of a sudden Kyle will decide that thermal detonators would be more effective, at least until he blows himself up...
  15. Nope, got lots of ammo, and I`m not hitting the wheel mouse. If I make Kyle just stand in a room for a few minutes he`ll just swap weapons after a few minutes...
  16. Hey guys, I know I`m behind the times, but I just got Jedi Outcast. Every now and then the game switches weapons on me for no reason. This is a real problem when I`m up close and all of a sudden I`m armed with thermal detonators... Any ideas what is causing this? I`m patched to 1.04. Thanks, Guy
  17. UltimatelyDemise When I do this setup the rebel HQ remains hidden... I make each system 'colonized' and 'high importance'... Works great. The only problem is that you can't change the setting for Sumitra.
  18. OK, the AI is dumb and you can't make it smarter. You can make the game a bit toughter. Use rebed and set the importance of all the sectors to high. You can do so for all sectors except the one with Yavin in it... This way, the entire galaxy is populated from the start, giving a ton more resources to your oponent. Then, if I'm playing the rebs, I'll make sure that all resources cost fewer maintenance points for the empire. I'll also make sure the chars are a bit tougher. This makes for a better game overall. Especially when the Death Star shows up and starts destroying planets. If you're fast you can try to sabotage it.
  19. Coolest ship in the game for me is the Nebulon B. Very cheap, you get it fast, and they are usefull to the end of the game. The Defender is the best overall fighter, but when you take maintenance points into account, the good old X-Wing is the best in my books.
  20. Elvis, you use RebEd to take out the AI and then you say no fair?? Hehehe, RebEd has spoiled us...
  21. Heck, just save and load settings as required. Why go through the hassle of changing the settings for every game? The save and load buttons are there in RebED and they work fine.
  22. Elvis, the last time I checked, the maint was at about 450 for the death star. Originally, I started this editing to see if I could get the AI to create a death star, but now I use it to make the game more challenging. I'll start a new thread on that when I get a minute. In the meantime, I'm going to try some death star fun and set the cost and maint to 100 each and see what happens... Guy
  23. Hi Elfboy! I think we discussed this in the old forum. I use a similar technique to get the AI to build a death star. The empire always builds one now in my games. Usually, I meet it in a battle situation and have to take it out with a fighter run. In the meantime it blows up 1 or 2 of my best caps. Usually I manage to blow it up, sometimes my fleet gets wiped out. One time, it blew up a planet that Luke was one doing a diplomatic mission. He's a slippery fish indeed because he survived that and ended up on a nearby planet. I teamed him with Han and Chewie and they did a sabotage mission on the death star and succeeded! hehehe, blow up my planets and I'll blow up your death star. I never got the AI to build more than one though...
  24. How many Bulwark Battlecruisers will it take to knock that thing out??
  25. Part of the problem is that when you start RebEd, it automatically loads the last settings you put in. So if you start editing from that point forward you can mess up your previous settings. What I do now is to make sure I have a clean install of Rebellion, open RebEd, then save the settings so I have a save with all the standard settings. Everytime I want to create a new scenario, I load the standard settings and start working from there. Hope this helps. Guy
