I also prefer t play the rebels. I like the characters and all the different types of ships. At the start of the game, I try to take over a core sector. Each plannet gets 3 gen cores (because the Empire does sabotage them). I try to have one planet with a couple of each production facilities to do research. I load that planet with a lot of troops and a general. I try to build 2-3 super construction yards, one super training facility, and 2-3 super shipyards. I only use fleets to explore rim systems. With my core systems protected with gen cores, the Empire can't take them out. I explore the rim and drop a regiment on any planet to colonize it. I use diplomacy on any neutral systems. By now my super construction yards are churning our mines and refineries to build up my maintenance pool. Then I can get my shipyards creating capital ships and fighters. I use all types of capital ships in this mid portion of the game. The best I can get. I just keep doing this until I get a decent enough fleet to start taking over core sectors. I keep my exploring fleets busy as well to take over as many rim systems as possible. I only use them to build up maintenance. Towards the end of the game, I try to build 2-3 super fleets with 30 Bulwark Cruisers and 5 CC-Whatever's that keep the Imperials from fleeing. I load them up with X-Wings, Sullastan regiments (cheap), All remaining characters, and just go on a rampage taking over as many core systems as possible. Soon the Empire's maintenance pool shrinks and they can't put up much of a fight. Hope that helps.

How realistic are the last 15 minutes of Return of the Jedi
glandry replied to igorimp's topic in General Discussion
I can live with the unrealistic space battle because I love space battles and all space battles are cool as far as I'm concerned. I would like more space battles. Go space battles. I can't live with a bunch of Ewoks taking out crack imperial troops. That is stupid. Ewoks are and will always be stupid. I don't ever want to see Ewoks again. -
Pet Peeve - No cut scene when you sabotage the Alliance HQ
glandry replied to glandry's topic in General Discussion
Don`t know how you can view it other than in the game, but there is probably some tool. It start with a young person (looks like a woman) disguised as a stormtrooper setting an explosive near some kind of reactor core. She then gets chased away by some stormtroopers. Then you get a close up of the bomb with a 30 second timer, then you see that famous lamba shuttle escaping the DS just before it blows up. She says something like: Scratch one death star. -
Yes, in my experience, if the DS finds the rebel HQ, they blow it up. It has also been my experience, that if the DS finds either Luke or Mon Mothma on a planet, it will blow up that planet. Of course they survive the blast and are either captured (Mon Mothma), or they may escape (Luke if he's tough enough).
-
The easiest way is to sabotage the DS Shield or sabotage the DS. That's fun, especially if you can do it with Luke and Chewie. Use rebed to make the DS really cheap and the AI will churn them out one after the other. I've played games where the empire has 4 or 5 DS's running around destroying my fleets early in the game. The only way to catch up was to sabotage them.

I was playing as the Alliance last night, and was doing OK. I use RebEd to make the game tougher, and the Empire had built (at least) 3 death stars. I was able to sabotage the first two, but some reason, kept failing on the third one. Anyway, the last death star shows up at my HQ, and promptly blows up the planet. I lost about a dozen of my characters! Also, the HQ icon still showed up in the asteroid field after blowing up the planet. I had a crappy fleet nearby, and decided to engage the Empire`s fleet with the death star. Maybe I could take it out with fighters. Wrong. The death star destroyed my fleet. Unfortunately Luke and Mon Mothma were on that fleet and were captured. In the space of about 2 days I lost everything! Oh yeah, the reason I could not sabotage that third death star might be because Vader was on it...

Well, I've been playing for a long time now, and I got a pleasant surprise tonight. I was playing as the Empire and it was toward the end of the game. I had captured Luke, Mon Mothma, Chewie, and a bunch of other rebels. Han and Leia we're still missing. Anyway, Jabba captured Han, then he captured Leia when she went to rescue him. Luke and Chewie could not help because I already had them. Then, Boba hands over Han and Leia to Vader. Very cool. In the little panel that pops up, the game defaults to Boba handing over Luke, Leia, Chewie, and Han. Han says something like 'together again', then Luke says 'wouldnt miss it for the world' Then Boba asks Vader for a reward.

How much will this cost on a monthly basis??
-
Well, according to Epi I, there is no father. He was conceived by the Midi Cloreans (sp). Maybe his mother just got really wasted one night... Or maybe he's got a Jesus thing going.
-
??? What do the Sith need revenge for??? In Epi II, two sith (Palpatine and Dooku) completely outmaneuvered the Jedi Council and the Imperial Senate. They KICKED ASS and killed a bunch of Jedi. Everything went according to THEIR plan. They even got their war started (stupid Jar Jar). If anyone is looking for revenge, is should be the Jedi Council!! (but they won't get it!!)

If you didn't use RebEd, what tool did you use to edit the game???

HARRY POTTER! How would you like to see him die...

How about a Monty Burns' "Release the Hounds" -
Interesting comments. I voted for Sauron. He is much more focused on destruction and desecration. Turning the elves into orcs for example. Palpatine is more of a control freak with a lack of conscience.

What was it that really RUINED the Empire?!
glandry replied to igorimp's topic in General Discussion
You`re right, Lucas suffers from TGGMW Syndrome. -
Hi guys, I'm feeling a bit left out as I've never started a poll!! So who is the most evil, Sauron or Palpatine?
-
Later in the game when Luke is a Jedi master, he does not say the Toshi like when he leaves Tatooine. At least for me. He did say it at the start of the game.

Right you are: the planet I was talking about didn't have ANY garrison, I was blockading it and I had TWO teams working on incite uprising. So why did it go so slow. Just because I was Alliance??? This is one of the tougher missions, but a good one to do if you have idle chars with nothing to do. I assume they had good leadership skills? The other thing is the state of the rest of the sector. Where the other 9 planets with the imps?

We are forgetting the Alliance's secret weapon, gained at great risk by their secret agent "Revolotion". They must have had RebEd to beef up the stats of their pitiful fleet -

Scath, you're 100% correct here. I made this point in another thread, and this is what makes ROTJ so stupid. On Naboo, when he hardly had any power, Palpy was intent on killing every Gungan on the planet. A planet with little or no strategic value really. However, on Endor, the shield generator is virtually unguarded! What kind of military dork thought up the defenses? The forest should have been cleared for miles around! Hello, have you ever heard of barbed-wire? The Empire lost because GL needed them to lose. I just wish he hadn't made them look so stupid. Now, if Darth Vader had been the Emperor, it would have been a different story. He'd have been roasting Ewoks with his lightsaber!!! OK, one last rant, when the shield generator blows up, there is a HUGE explosion. But the folks on the ground are only about 30' away from the installation hiding behind a log. There should have been BBQ hero on the menu along with the Ewoks. -
Good point Dude. I always find it frustrating when my best chars (Jedi Masters) get foiled just because there's a dumb Padwan on the planet that sensed my mission.
-
OK I got the Luke easter egg to work. The first time I tried he was a Jedi Master and did not say the line. I guess at some point in his life he stopped whinning... He seems to say the line before he goes to Dagobath...

There are a number of guides out there already, that are quite good. I had downloaded a bunch and sent to Evaders to post on this site, but have not had the time to follow-up. Evaders?

All in all, I preferred the first movie. The second one could have been fine with a bit of editing. Some scenes were WAY too long. The dance scene and the Smith fight in particular. The overall premise of the "Matrix" is extremely cool.
