  1. What the heck does balance mean anyway? Equal parts 'good' and 'evil'? If so, the good far outweighted the evil before Palpatine came along. Mayby Aniken's part was to build up the evil, then knock it down. It seems that there is a great 'balance' between good and evil Jedi in the New Republic. Then again, Lucas might just be a lunatic.
  2. Based on the posts so far, and the graphics you guys use. The US and British coalition is still in place and equals the EMPIRE. Wormie and I are the Canadian REBELS!!! Hehehe.
  3. I just checked. You do get leadership increases for successful subdue and incite uprising missions. You're telling me that you've found a way to get your leadership skill up???!!! I thought that was interesting too, Scath. Let me check tonight. If I recall, I was getting increases for successful subdue uprising missions.
  4. I have that same problem. I also have that problem with sabotage missions. I agree for incite uprisings, but sabotage is a breeze if you use decoys...
  5. You're telling me that you've found a way to get your leadership skill up???!!! I thought that was interesting too, Scath. Let me check tonight. If I recall, I was getting increases for successful subdue uprising missions.
  6. "Don't get cocky." You'd probably run out of maintenance points to keep the death star going, and Coruscant would keep flipping back to support the rebels. Put a couple of dozen dark trooper regiments with some strong leaders and you might be able to keep it under control. You would need constant diplomacy missions as well. Oh, and maybe a second death star in orbit!
  7. Blowing up planets is not about tactical or strategic advantage. It's all about fun. I once played a game, and just for kicks, I decided to blow up a LOT of planets, like every reble planet I could find. My chars ended up with very high leadership and diplomacy skills...
  8. If you always win, maybe you should use RebEd to make it tougher. I find I now win about 70% of my games because I made it much tougher in RebEd. A normal game is too boring.
  9. Losing shipyards isn't so bad. I remember once when I first started playing. I was having so much fun doing missions and building fleets, that I didn't notice that the empire had either sabotaged or taken over all of my construction yards! I couldn't build a damn thing and had to run all over the galaxy trying to find an undefended construction yard I could take over to build up my manufacturing capability! Hehehe, I also remember one time when I lost track of all my researchers. The empire had assasinated them all! Took forever to get decent ships/facilities! Live and learn...

    Fleeting...

Try to imagine little Darth Vader head smileys, instead of that yellow ball...
  11. Too bad the game doesn't have a cut scene where Vader uses the force to choke the traitor. "I find your lack of faith distrubing..." (Something like that?) They are brutal on missions, I've never seen them get better. Once they turn, they seem to keep screwing up missions. You can give them leadership roles, or use them to mislead your opponent, i.e., use him on really dangerous missions.
  12. How high do you set the values for Palpy, Vader or Luke? Good question. Sometimes when I try to give them a good bump up in RebEd, it backfires and they end up with really low scores.
  13. Now, I like: King of the Hill Simpsons Futurama The Family Guy and Spiderman and Flinstones when I was a kid.
  14. Well, not sure what you are using to open them. For a starter, download RebEd. It is the program that lets you import `cards`like the ships you downloaded into the game.
  15. Have to disagree with you direwolf, but could just be because we are not using the exact same settings in RebEd. I will make all sectors populated with a high importance, except Sumitra (because RebEd won't let me). The rebel HQ will always be there. If you are playing as the imperials, you should not even be able to see the Rebel HQ at the start of the game. Play as the rebels instead of the imperials, and you will see that the HQ will always be somewhere in Sumitra. Guy
  16. Dude, you've gotta be a bit more specific here. What did you download???
  17. I used to play a game called Imperium Gallactica that had excellent an excellent ground battle component in addition to space battles. In this game, you not only build fleets but you also manage the colonization (and defense) of planets. Your research options include various tank-type vehicles and associated weapons systems. Cool game, but unfortunately not based on STAR WARS!!
  18. The scene in Summer Rental when his neighbor is showing him her new bobb job...
  19. I have seen every John Candy movie, except Canadian Bacon... He was a great comic. I still watch SCTV reruns. Last night he was doing a skit where he was imitating pavoratti (very funny)...
  20. What happens is that RebEd will not let you make these changes to the Sumitra sector, so the Rebel HQ will be there. If you are playing rebels, you will likely want to move it quickly!
  21. Ah yes, Crackers with Tomato soup, mmmm soup. No, the name doesn't ring a bell, but I am a HUGE fan of the Tragically Hip though. Yes tomato soup and crackers, must be a defining Canadian experience. Oh yeah, and hockey too... Bruce Cockburn is a sort of folkie guy, but he`s got a song called `Coldest Night of the Year` talking about the cold streets of Toronto in winter (as if it even gets cold in Toronto). The Hip do rock. They are one of the best. The best of course is RUSH!!!
  22. A big enough fleet (with high bombard rating) can take out two gencore IIs. But this may cause you to have only a few `super` fleets. Good for the AI, not sure about a human opponent...
  23. I have experimented with this and have found that a higher importance, the systems in the sector will have more resources. Also, the AI will put a greater emphasis on trying to take over the sector. Basically, if you make a sector have high importance and make it populated, it`s just like a core sector.
  24. My modem's fine. The thing is that I've got an ADSL-connection that requires this modem. This modem connects through usb. Rebellion, being an older game, isn't compartible with usb-apparatus. Oh, and glandry? I can do without smug remarks like If your modem doesn`t work, get a new modem... If you have an internet connection and IP address, can you not play an IP game rather than a modem game? Assuming you can even hook up with someone...
