I think if you station them on the death star, they stay there. You will not be able to control them. That`s what I remember anyway. I don`t usually bother building a death star.
-
You need a lot fighters, preferable defenders or interceptors, but they need to be stationed ON the death star, not on your other ships. They will be the fighters that will defend your death star.

The laptop uses a Mobility Radeon 9000. Seems to have 32MB of memory.

Hi everyone, I've just loaded SWRebellion onto a new laptop, and the graphics suck. This laptop is running XP. I also tried using Win95 compatibility mode with 256K colors, but no dice. Any ideas? It works fine on my old PC. Could it be a DirectX issue?

Do a forum search, as this has been discussed a lot. If you want, I can send you the RebEd settings I use. I have a file for when I play as the Empire and another for the Rebels.
-
Or, decrease the intelligence of the human player. Drink 12 beers and give it a try. Don't need no stinkin' RebEd!

I bought it (pc) and I beat it

Thanks for the post Igor. Should be obvious that I`m cheap with my money, since I still play Rebellion!!! -
Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World

Saw it last night. This was an excellent movie. The destructive force of these warships was impressive and the fight scenes seemed quite realistic. The acting was top notch. The surgeon was excellent as was the little blond kid -
The other thing to consider is that fighters will get decimated, either quickly or slowly, and it is difficult to manage. For example, if the game gave you the ability to preset x number of fighter squadrons or troop regiments on a given planet, that would be fine, but because you have to manage it to make sure you always have enough fighters. You run a greater risk of losing a strong production planet. With three gen cores, the AI just passes over the planet. They might blockade it for a turn, but then they move on. The AI seems to build fleets with a lot of troops and try to invade.

Hey Wormie, it's been a while! Yeah Luke gets captured all the time, expecially before he becomes a knight. Even then there is a chance. This is usually OK because typically it's Vader that captures him and brings him to the emperor. He gets huge force bonuses for these encounters. Also, Luke needs to confront Vader so he can tell Leia that she can use the force. She will then become the best character in the game for Diplomacy. The hard part is rescuing Luke. You need to use non-force characters as he is usually guarded by the emperor. Good luck.

Good post. This is one of the toughest missions in my opinion, and just don't even try them anymore. This is the mission where you have the greatest likelyhood of loosing your chars. I get a lot of people getting killed trying to incite uprisings and it's just not worth it. Bomb the crap out of the troops on the planet and invade. Start with the planets that are the most loyal to you, work fast with two or more fleets operating in the sector, and you just might get a massive swing to your side. Sometimes you don't even have to worry about doing diplomacy.

Hi Scathane, I'm not a historian, so I don't really know, but that opening scene is one of the best I've ever seen. If anything, I expect that the reality was much more chaotic and bloody. Usually war movies are much more tame than the real thing. Some movies, like Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, and Gladiator really try to show us what a battle looked like, but I suspect that in reality they are a lot bloodier. I don't know why hollywood is so eager to show us blood and guts in slasher horror flicks, but tend to dumb down war movies. By the way, I rented Enemy at the Gates the other night and I thought it was excellent. Not many huge battle scenes, but a whole lot of people getting shot in the head. Seemed pretty realistic to me.

Oops, something else I forgot to mention. Early in the game I set up one planet with 3 gencores, a general, 9+ troop regiments, 2-3 shipyards, construction yards, and training facilities. I do all of my research there. I often do a lot of my recruiting at that planet.
-
The AI is soooo stupid. This is what I do. For production planets (need at least 13 energy), I put 3 gen core II's and then 10+ shipyards, construction yards or training facilities. Usually, I like to have about 5-6 of these shipyards, about the same in construction yards, and only one training facility. Each of these planets will have 9 troop regiments (dark troopers or sullanstans), with the highest detection rating. Early in the game I may also put a general there to reduce sabotage missions. I use 3 gen cores rather than 2 so that I have a buffer in the event the AI does sabotages one. All other planets (except Coruscant and Rebel HQ), get nothing in terms of defenses. If AI takes them over, I just send a fleet there to bomb the troops and the planet reverts back to me (I always make sure that my popularity is close to 100%). The most important thing early in the game is construction yards. The first player to get a decent amount of maintenance points typically wins the game.

Based on some of Paul's cards that I've seen, I would like to live in his Empire!!

This is too bad. He was a great contributor.

I think La Forge should have some kind of special title, like "Testing Master" or something....

What the heck is going on here???
-
There may be no actual upper limit, but is there a practical one? For example, if they have combat and espionage of 500, do they ever get caught? At what point does it stop having an impact on the success of missions?
-
BoShek, you are right. This strategy would probably not work well against another player, but it does work fine against the AI. I play on DS level and I also modify the game heavily to make the Empire a lot tougher and this strategy works well.
-
I'm a lazy bastard so I like the DS gunners. Let's face it. They get a cool uniform and helmet. That always impresses the ladies. Don't really have to do anything but sit around and blow up planets. Your only worry is that the idiots that designed the Death Star(s) seems to find it amusing to include one minor key weakness that the Rebels can exploit to blow up your fat ass. BTW, what the hell to they need helmets for anyway? Not like its giong to help them when the DS blows up... Now Johnny, don't go out and blow up planets without your helmet! You might fall off your chair and bang your head.
-
I like Mon Mothball though. She's a great diplomat. Also, she can't die so who cares if she gets captured. Gives Luke something to do. I find that for the Rebels Carlist is kinda useless. At least he can be a general...
-
Orlok is brutal. You can train the guy up to Jedi master and Mon Mothma can still kick his ass. At least his leadership gets pretty high. I guess he can be used to start riots until he gets killed...
