  1. OOC: Is it just me or these seems a Stellar vs. Trej thread?... Where's everyone else? BS, you said you played the Vaathkree in a RPG years ago, don't you want to be our Vaathkree planetary leader? IC: Lietenant Essinat'veg had been at her side for a decade, and it did not take him long to realize that she was not comfortable. Having reviewed by himself all the procedures for their departure, he knew that she was not annoyed by the crew, but by the mission. Essinat'veg, or simply at'Veg, had been given a short briefing on the mission. A diplomatic mission to an alien world was nothing new to Arien Yage, at'Veg decided. After all, he had been with her when they went into the Unknown Regions. Their year-long experience there required the crew of the Widowmaker (many of which now served in Right to Rule) to become diplomats. Arien's development in that area had led to a subsequent series of missions after the war, then she had succeeded in expanding the Empire's borders as many worlds chose to join the Empire instead of the Galactic Federartion. Arien had learnt the Jedi way of dealing with aliens, then the Chiss way, naturally the Imperial way, and her own un-orthodox way of dealing with aliens in the Unknown Regions for nine months. As the hyperspace counter still had almost an hour to count down, Essinat'veg decided to approach her. The Arkanian came directly at her, and Arien suppressed a smile. The slightly-more-arrogant-than-normal pace of the Arkanian confirmed her suspicions. He would want to discuss the briefing and find out the reason of her discomfort. She knew him well, and trusted him. She looked at him and went to her private command room. Without saying a word the Arkanian understood and mute followed her into the small private room. "You want the unofficial briefing," she stated and started a holographic presentation. "The Vaathkree are a silica-based lifeform hailing from a volcanic planet of the same name. Their lifecycle is over four times longer than the human standard. During their lifes they develop a natural armor made out of solid stone. Blaster fire does not harm them, they can resist extremely high temperatures and even survive shortly in vacuum. On Ord Mantell the Rapora were reinforced by an alien creature, of similar characteristics. Oreton wants to have allies to counter those creatures, thus we are here." For another hour Yage gave her Arkanian officer the details of the mission, before they return to the bridge. The counter reached zero and the shapes hyperspace, once again were reduced to planets, moons, asteroids and Rapora!? A Savla class Cruiser was visible in orbit around the planet. "Signal to all ships, prepare for battle." "Commodore," at'Vek reported in confusion. "The Cruiser is minimally armed, it seems it's a consular ship." Arien Yage frowned. The Rapora had somehow learnt of Oreton plan, she carefully considered her choices. Attacking the Rapora could bring a diplomatic cataclysm, especially if three Imperial Star Destroyers attacked a minimally armed consular vessel. From what she read about the Vaathkree, it would be a sacrilege to their religion. An alliance or a compromise had to be resolved through dealing, not through warfare. "Remain in formation and launch two squads of Interceptor as an escort for our ships. Then open a channel to the planet. at'Vek find the Vaathkree defense fleet." "Already did, Commodore. They are just in front of us." Arien looked out of the viewport and saw nothing but the planet and its moons, and the asteroids. Then she recalled what kind of alien species the Vaathkree were. "The asteroids?" The asteroids were a formation of drop-shaped rocky vessels. Several protusion revealed themselves as cannons of sorts and some other as turbolasers, and their rear finally revealed the much familiar glowing engines. A most innovative fusion of common technology and their own culture. "A most incredible feat of engineering, they have hyperspace, plasma weapons, turbolasers and shields. Heat signatures are very high. They are maneuvering their fleet in between both vessels. Arien supressed a whistle as she ordered to open a channel to the Vaathkree and explain the situation. I am here, and I have a mission to complete She thought for herself as she watched the Savla vanish beyond the planetary horizon. Whatever it takes
  2. He doesn't. Go goes through some serious reconstructive surgery (in the same clinic Vader went later on) and a de-midichlorization and he became Lando Calrissian... ...(and knowing good ol' George. That is completely possible).
  3. Legos. I have a huge plastic box filled with my old sets. (Pirates, Knights, I even had a Lego Train). I bought some few Star Wars Legos a while back. (They were at "low" prices, here in Costa Rica). So I bought the Falcon, Slave I, and the Jedi Starfighter.I tried building a TIE Int out of some pieces I had to some minor success. (Didn't have enough black pieces for the wings, kind of look weird with white and blue bricks in between).
  4. I'll take that as a rhetoric question... In a movie that's over 60% battles and duel, I do not see a chance of getting bored. Sadly as I've gather from spoilers, we won't see the "Empire" until the last few minutes.
  5. An IGN Preview of the Game, they discuss some things as multiplayer and an answer whether the tactical battles are 3D or not. (They are much like Rebellions, as they deal with multiple 2-D layers) The more I read of it the more it reminded me of a bizarre, simplified version of Reb
  6. They posted it at the official site. Look for yourself Episode III REVENGE OF THE SITH War! The Republic is crumbling under the attacks by the ruthless Sith Lord Count Dooku. There are heroes on both sides. Evil is everywhere. In a stunning move, the fiendish droid leader, General Griveous, has swept into the Republic capital and kidnapped Chancellor Palpatine, leader of the Galactic Senate. As the Separatist Droid Army attempts to flee the besieged capital with their valuable hostage, two Jedi Knights lead a desperate mission to rescue the captive Chancellor....

  9. OOC: I will use this first post to tell how the Empire's been after Bastion. Just some background I've been wanting to write, but I had no chance in the main RP thread. (Some foreshadowing to a subplot Stellar and I had discussed a while back). Commodore Arien Yage felt uncomfortable. It had been a sentiment present since the transmission with Grand Admiral Oreton ended. A more profound analysis of her worries might have suggested that her discomfort could be traced to earlier events. To the begin of her mission, to Oreton taking over as Supreme Commander. Perhaps, that was the source of all it, she decided as a lieutenant brought her an updated report on materiel on the Right to Rule. The Empire may have not yet recovered from Pellaeon's loss, and the circumstances thereof did not ease the situation. Pellaeon had not died, instead he had fallen into a severe comma. And medical officers did not count on him waking up, his last words and efforts had been directed at giving Oreton the title of Supreme Commander of the Galactic Empire. Or it's remnants, Arien accepted. There was nothing new to the story of Oreton's promotion in the shadow of the fall of Bastion. Oreton was more than competent. Intelligent, disciplined she knew that he had been considered the great Imperial promise during the confrontation with the Yuuzhan Vong. She knew too, and there lay the problem, that he was young. At thirty-nine Oreton was older than her for a few years, but he was eons younger than the members of the Moff Council. He had never exerted much political power, and unlike other older commanders his links to a glorious Imperial past were few. Pellaeon's comma had severed one of them. Oreton counted with full support from the Council, but the first sign of dissent were there. The main arguements of his opponents was that Oreton did not care about the inner workings of his Empire. He is away, out beyond Imperial Territor. He has reassigned ships to guard the Imperial worlds, to protect their secret colonies, but has not spent any time at all in Imperial territory after his promotion. He only want intact supply bases, his opponent whispered. And now Arien was taking some of the defensive forces into a mission to Vaathkree. She had seen Vana Dorja take some of the best ground forces to Ord Mantell. One planet that had nothing to do with the Empire, but the Empire was there, Oreton had answered to orders. No one should give the Supreme Commander orders, the opponents repated. And their opinions spread through some of the cadres of the Empire with a great resonance in the military. The younger officers, that had come to fill up the command roles in the aftermath of the Vong war supported Oreton, the older ones who would have preferred an old-timer ahead of the Empire disagreed with Oreton. Isolation should have been the top priority after Bastion fell. It would have been Pellaeon's priority. Not even the confirmation of Thrawn's resurgence changed their minds. Thrawn came back with his own faction, he cares not for the Empire either. Why should the Empire care for him? That was the reason for her discomfort. She had been Oreton's liasion to the Imperial worlds. He had given her a secondary mission at the time, now that secondary mission required her to overrule the first one. Now she must embark on a trip to Vaathkree, and a mission that can take weeks. Weeks, who could now what could happen to the fragil political stability of the Empire in those weeks, with Oreton focused so intensely in the Ord Mantell campaign, and Vana Dorja reported dead. What could happen? Secretly, Arien hoped for Vana to live, to be here. Vana's history made her a more amicable figure for the older commanders, Oreton's trust in her had made her a popular figure in the younger generations of the Navy. But she was gone, gone forever. Vaathkree, she reminded herself. The objective. She had read the summary of the species, she expected fierce negotiations. The Vaathkree religion focused on "the deal". She had heard tales of Vaathkree bargains for war materiel, or for some mercenary services. If she was tehre to negotiate their incorporation into the Empire and their incorporation of their people in their ranks, she would have to use every bit of wit to strike a deal with them. "Are we ready for hyperspace?" Arien asked. "Yes, the fleet is awaiting your orders." Arien looked out of the viewport at the provisional capital world of the Empire. "It's only a few weeks. Nothing will happen," she comforted herself. "Enter hyperspace." Right to Rule, Charging Knight and Silent Death entered hyperspace. Her discomfort did not fade in hyperspace, quite the opposite with every parsec her worries augmented.
  10. I guess that's what happens when Mask asks me to download some sourcebooks out of the net, and I find myself in possession of the Thrawn Trilogy Sourcebook. That's where I found about the Vaathkree. Well, I'll transcribe the entry: Since they've been part of the Republic for so long I wouldn't place them exactly in the Unknown Regions, Wild Space might do. On some planet the Rapora found, after they entered Known Space, perhaps? Edit: About the subplot, no problem with that. Nice to see some offshoots of the Rapora War. By the way, in reading that sourcebook. It reminded me of a question I had a while ago. PM for you, Stellar.
  11. Lucasarts page says Fall 2005.
  12. Evacuation. Heavy hearted, Han Solo and his staff and officers removed themselves from the base that had housed them for the past days. The equipment (what was left of it after the creatures attacks) had been quickly packed up and loaded on lifters, technicians and crewers performed smoothly their routine. After all sensitive equipment was hauled away, the crewers efficiently loaded the wounded in another vehicle and sent them off. Now was the turn of the officers. Behind them only the soldiers awaited to be ferried to the next base. Even the corpses of the dead creatures had been sent off to the capital for a complete medical analysis. One of the Chiss had gone with them. Behind them a cumulus of black clouds rose from the burning forest. The Rapora slowed down after the Ewok gambit apparently had decided for the wood fire to die of its own and then pass over the ashes of the forest instead. The group of the fire-walking creatures that had come through the forest during the fire had already destroyed one of the small outposts on the fold of the mountains, and just reinforced the urgency to pack up. "Hope you are ready for a long trip," Han said. as he entered the hover vehicle. "How long will it take us to arrive?" Ulan asked. "It'd be about forty minutes in a shuttle, about thirty in the Falcon." Han answered. "But," and his voice trailed off with annoyance. "But?" "But we are going to make the trip in this bucket of bolts. After what happened to Dorja I don't think it'd be safe to use shuttles, not without some strong escorts." "General's orders?" "That's why he's here," Solo answered. The delay would be considerable it'd take them mfour or five hours making it in the hover vehicle through the mountain range. The entire convoy would be making a very slow time. "You better take a nap," Solo suggested as he made himself confortable in the seat in front of him. The hovercraft had been designed for ten people plus the pilot and copilot. Now only Han, Ulan and their pilot were inside giving all of them plenty of space. Han took out the comlink. "Everything loaded?" "Yes sir, we are ready for departure." The voice came back. "So what are we waiting for?" Immediately the hovercraft's engines hummed to life and the convoy began its slow journey to Riverbase. Solo put the comlink with reach and closed his eyes. Ulan looked at the human, then shifted his gaze out of the viewport at the moving landscape. His eyes slowly began to close. The soporiffic hum of engines and the monotone landscape helped to put him to sleep. The images and thoughts that troubled his mind had no trouble appearing in dreamform. The once-lush forest of Sekot were blackened by fire, just as the ones in Ord Mantell. The stank of hundreds of corpses filled the air, and the reddened water tasted like poison. He heard the voices of Harrar, and Nas Choka as they denounced the treachery. He felt the pain of the mothers that lost their children of the father that lost their families. Renewed oaths of vengeance, of war. Prayer to Yun-Yammka rose over the disgraced agony cries of thousands of Yuuzhan Vong. The Rapora had not even landed on the planet, the Yuuzhan Vong had been slaughtered from orbit. Sekot had not been able to defend its inhabitants, nor had it given them the weapons necessary for defense. The curses changed their destination as many Yuuzhan Vong cursed their homeworld before they were completely silenced. In his dreams Ulan wept. Craters of fire appeared where their cities and towns had existed, a dark entity shadowed the world. Amidst all the destruction a blueish figure sat. Impassive, indifferent to the tragedy. "Master Ocas," Ulan noted. "This is the result of your choice." The ghost answered, the comment had a powerful effect on the Yuuzha Vong. "I know." "Do you regret your choice?" "No," Ulan answered, with a honesty that surprised himself. Trej, evidently was not suprised. "Choices forge our lives. I once spent years in regret of one cowardly choice, other choices I took and died for them. You resisted the temptations, had you give into them Zonama Sekot would be safe." The image in the dreams shifted to the Zonama as Ulan remembered it. "Other worlds would have suffered the terrible fate, but not Zonama. At the side of the Timeless One, you would have repeated the feat of your fathers and in few years you would have conquered the known galaxy in His name." "I do not regret my choice," Ulan murmured quietly. There was no regret, only sadness. "You acted upon what you felt was correct. You have shown faith in yourself and in the Force, Ulan Shai. But the journey is not over yet." Ulan wanted to answer, but his eyes opened wide. "And here I thought that Jedi did not take naps." Han asked. Ulan blinked. "Did you say something?" "Just noting that this journey is not over yet," Han answered. "And that not many Jedi take naps." Ulan smiled and looked at Han again. "How far are we?" "Not much, we may have one hour or so before we arrive. But it's good you woke up, as I want to see who's on the other side of this." And he put out the special comlink Vana had given him. "There goes nothing," Han said as turned on the comlink. The transmission clicked once and a strong human voice came through, slightly cracked up by the static. "General Solo, you had me worrying." "Oreton?" Solo asked. It was definitely not what he had expected to hear, he had counted on a Rapora tellling him that Vana was dead, or on the mute silence of an unanswered call. "Grand Admiral?" Ulan asked, recognizing the voice too. Equally suprised as Solo. "Baros," Han spoke again, he allowed himself the familiarity having met Oreton about two decades before. "This thing is not long-range. You are-" "You know the answer to that question, General," the voice on the other side interrupted him. "This might be the most secure channel on all the planet, but some things are better left unsaid. I gather you are moving to the Base by the River Emante?" "Yes, we captured some strange aliens allied with the Rapora." "The ones that walked through the forest?" Baros asked. How did he know? "Yes, those. They are tough things, it took Ulan a lot to deal with them, they are made of metal or some crystalized silicate material. THey are really hot." Han noted. "Interesting." Oreton answered. "I have other problem to attend, General. I will communicate again." And the transmission clicked off. "Who hasn't his own worries these days?" Han sighed. "At least we learnt some few things." *** Oreton regretted having to close off his communication with Solo. Even if it was the most secure channel, Oreton would wait until Solo arrived to the base and coordinate then. In the meantime, Solo had confirmed some of his notes on the particular creatures that intervened in the past battle. Made of metal or crystalized silicate, Oreton looked over his database. He keyed another channel in his command room and another welcome voice came over the comm. *** "Vaathkree?" Captain Arien Yage asked. "A necessity we cannot rescind, Arien." Oreton answered. "I trust your mission has been proceeding well." Arien smiled grimly. "I have had my own share of problems, but we have achieved some success. The visit to Vaathkree might be a problem." "You survived six months in the Unknown Regions all by your self on the Widowmaker, you will find a way to bring the Vaathkree on our side." "Yes sir, I might just strike a deal with them," she said in the enigmatic way that Oreton himself used. "It will delay my arrival on Ord Mantell for another week." "I understand."
  13. The 1up.com, IIRC. I wanted to message him, but the stupid site required me to register, and realizing that I hardly need another registration at a site I most likely won't visit anymore dissuaded me. It's the link E posted on the main site, scroll down to the user's hyped opinions and there he should be phoenix##-something was his name.
  14. I remember reading somewhere about an initiative to repair and update te Hubble Space Telescope and keep it running. The space pictures are very nice. I'm still amazed by the Eye of God. http://img176.exs.cx/img176/4117/eyeofgodwp6pi.th.jpg
  15. It was a fun movie, even if it was kind of akward with the Arab tagging along. Now that's a great movie. After all the troubles I had try to find it and downloa... watch it, I found it highly entertaining. A intelligent, fun and entertaining movie.
  16. Topic moved. As for your question, you can save your RebEd Settings with the Save Settings functions. Models, Droid animations, etc that you have editted directly in the DLLs not, I'd reccommend you to backup the GDATA Folder and the most importat DLLs.
  17. I definitely remember two of them, I didn't know there were more.
  18. Couldn't help but smile when I noticed this opinion on one of the sites linked from the main page:
  19. Does it have to be human? If not then, I'd be Jawa Nr. 6, the one that argues with Owen about the droids. Size matches, as does intellectual abilities... Slightly more seriously, I'd probably be Corran Horn. Edit: This is my Four-thousand-fourhundred-forty-fourth post... Fun number.
  20. Question answered. Topic closed. If there's a thread you want to close. PM me.
  21. Just thought I'd put this up for more discussion. Also a link to some screenies... Including a weird Force Commander Box Cover picture and some hobbits... http://www.computerandvideogames.com/openpic.php?nid=136644&article_id=114117
  22. The trailer will be here in March, I've seen a possible description of it in a Spanish site, I'll translate it and put it up later. EDIT: The trailer begins with the following exchange: Palpatine: "The Dark Side of the Force is the pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural." Anakin: "Is it possible to learn this power?" Palpatine: "Not from a Jedi." We are then introduced to the political maneuvering of Palpatine, Obi-Wan and Mace Windu. All of them actually want to use Anakin as a pawn in their game (Palpatine makes Anakin his "personal representative on the Jedi Council" while Obi-Wan wants him to "report on all the Chancellor's dealings"). The first minute or so is surprisingly heavy on dialogue and consists mostly of shots of various characters speaking to each other (inter cut with short glimpses of evil droids, space battles etc.). We even see how Mace Windu and three other Jedi attempt to arrest Palpatine (he grabs the light saber and confronts them). When Mace Windu tells Anakin: "You are on this council, but we do not grant you the rank of Master," Anakin loses it and joins the Dark Side (Sidious: "Every single Jedi is now an enemy of the Republic"). At least that's how the trailer makes it look. Then the more "visual" half starts with some very neat scenes like a low angle shot of Anakin marching in front of a clone trooper army. We see Wookiees on some kind of war machine, the duel in the volcano field, gigantic 10-wheel military transports and actual destruction of the Senate chamber. Everything is very dramatic, several deaths are implied, Padme is seen crying loudly and music from the Emperor duel (Return of the Jedi) is heard. Overall, the first half of the trailer is surprisingly specific, making no sense whatsoever to people who don't know Star Wars well. The second half is very dark and dramatic, but with lots of action. Bad guys (apart from Sidious) only appear for a fraction of a second and have no lines. The final seconds consist of Obi-Wan shouting: "You were the chosen one!" fighting Anakin while both dangle from some ropes/wires. After the closing titles, there is a bonus shot of Vader and Sidious standing side by side, accompanied by Vader's breathing. This is a preliminary version with effects and sound not quite finalized. One part of the trailer is actually without music (either for dramatic effect or John Williams' new score will be inserted). There is some evil-looking humanoid droid with a cape around his head and torso, flanked by two classic battle droids (from Episode I). He seems to hold a lance in his hand. Later, Obi-Wan is seen sword fighting with a humanoid droid, but he's only seen from the back and moving quickly. (It appears to be General Grievous, but it's extremely short and quick shot.) Anyway, both of these shots are VERY brief (about half second). One of the shots depicts Obi-Wan being surrounded by dozens of droids. Some of them look different and wear capes, maybe one of them is Grievous. But it's very wide shot, the characters are small. The length of the teaser trailer is a little under 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
  23. Also, construction point spent, are constructions points you won't see again. Maintenance points are a different matter, if a unit is destroyed/sabotaged/scrapped/etc you get the maintenance points back.
  24. I guess I'll put the link to the thread where we've been speculating and discussing it, so we don't have repeated topics. http://www.swrebellion.com/postt2052.html
  25. This is the official LucasArts Announcement: And it has also found itself a page on the lucasarts site. http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swempireatwar/ Two playable factions (when fighting over 20 worlds, what else could one expect), interesting is that there will be hero chars.
