In one of the later X-wing series books (can't remember which one ... just yet. I'll research later if necessary), Booster Terrik (prior to getting the Errant Venture, but I do think he got it in this very book) was put in charge of a Space Station that was used as a base for strikes by Rogue or Wraith squadron. Anyway, he also installed some tractor beams and concussion missile tracking/firing computers (but not the missiles launchers themselves, just decoys). When one of those Imperial Warlords (Zsinj?) came to attack the station he held them (an SSD no less) with the tractor beams and turned on all the concussion missile tracking/firing computers. On the SSD they were stuck due to the tractor beams and FREAKING out because they thought they were being targeted by a huge amount of concussion missiles (like 80 or 200, supposedly even enough to severely damage an SSD). The idea was to get them to surrender the SSD intact. Anyway in the story, some underling captain in his Victory? SD interposed his ship between the Space Station and the SSD, getting caught in the tractor beam but releasing the SSD so it could escape. That made me think that a large number of concussion missiles must pack a serious wallop, even enough to wipe out an SSD's shields with enough punch left to cause massive structural damage. So missiles and torpedoes must be good for help in knocking out shields.

Super cool Krytos! With lots of new cool models like these, there should be some really decent looking fleets flying around. Mad78, did you mean "poly count"?

PHSYCOBOB has the correct answer Ion attacks are the "blue bolts" from the capital ships (Imperial or Alliance), and of course the Turbolaser/laser attacks are color coordinated (green = Imperial, red = Alliance). Missile attacks by starfighters (bombers) are white. Why missile attacks happen only after shields are down confuses me though .

how can a mon cal division destroy 7 divisions?
DarthTex replied to Tacticusarat's topic in General Discussion
Uhhh ... in actuallity ... MonCals don't exist But I get your point. Taking another tact: how did Lee lose at Gettysburg, how did Nelson defeat the combined fleets of France & Spain at Trafalgar, how did the Americans defeat the Japanese at Midway, etc. Just because it looks like you have overwhelming firepower, there are many variables that make a battle. Maybe the MonCals are well defended in shielded fortifications, and laid out hundreds of anti-AT-AT mines, covered over deep pits/trenches for the AT-AT's to fall into, put large electro-magnets underground waiting for an AT-AT to walk on top. ZAP!! I wouldn't think the MonCals are hiding behind a tree with a little blaster thinking "I'll be safe here, nothing can get me behind this tree". Defenders have the advantage during attacks because you prepare for "the attack". -

Darth_Rob wrote: It has to do with the attack/defense values of the troops in question. MonCals have a defense of 8, and I'm not sure about the attack value of the AT-AT's but I think it's 5 (I'll check on this later). Anyway, the defensive troops get a multiplier of 3 on there defense strength, plus additional modifiers if they have a commanding General. So basically you have 4 AT-AT's x 5 attack points < 1 MonCal x 8 defense points x 3 (defensive modifier) 20 < 24 the MonCal wins! I don't remember how the generals/admirals change the actual values (the manual says they do but I don't remember any specific values associated with this). In a previous game I had 1 defensive AT-AT defeat 4 MonCals + 1 Sullstan. So, it's not just shear numbers, but also the "quality" of the troops in the combat. -

After arriving home from taking the kiddo's out trick-or-treatin', I was flipping through the cable channels and saw a STAR WARS documentary (on A&E). I don't know how much I missed, but it was 2 hours long and very interesting. They showed some tapings of different actors reading the parts for Luke, Han & Leia. One of the actors for Han was Kurt Russel, and reading with him for Luke was William Katt. Wow! that would really been an interesting twist. Apparently Harrison Ford was originally brought in so the other actors could read their parts to him. He was used to voice the other character parts when the actors were reading. They were having a hard time finding the right "Han" actor for the part, until someone suggested Harrison (since he was doing a good job while reading with the other "auditioning" actors). GL initially didn't want anyone he had worked with already (Harrison was in American Graffiti). And the rest is history. Just an odd thought: Jeremy Irons would make a good Admiral Thrawn (at least I think so).

AdmiralToguroAni wrote: That depends on the particulars of the clone troopers' armament. In AotC there were some clone troopers that had "heavy?" blasters. They were taking out droids (the bigger types) with just 1 shot (of course they had a slower rate of fire).

When's the next installment coming out? Just curious I'm hooked on your story and would like to read some more.

Had Qui-gon and Obi-wan made it to Coruscant with Queen Amidala without stopping at Tatooine (and finding Anakin), they all would have returned to Naboo as seen in the movie. But now the sequence of events is different. Darth Maul would kill both Qui-gon and Obi-wan, and Queen Amidala would be a prisoner of the Trade Federation. The Clone army is now being created for AotC. Count Dooku would be the Separatist Leader, Darth Maul would still be the apprentice during AotC. Now, in AotC Obi-wan discovers the cloners after Jango kills the assassin who botched killing Padme. But Padme is either a prisoner of the Trade Federation or dead, and Obi-wan is dead. So, Darth Sidious has to order Jango Fett (via Count Dooku?) to try and assassinate someone using the poison dart (so it can be found & tracked to the cloners). Then the Jedi find out about the clone army that will eventually be used to help defend the Republic (the clone army is a "Trojan horse" ). The next question would be if the Jedi find out about Genosis (Obi-wan did this, but not if he's dead) and have their battle there (as per the movie), or on some other system (where the Repulbic might not win?). For the final sequence (RotS), there would be no need to have Count Dooku "kidnap" Palpatine, since there is no need to turn Anakin (he's not around). Mace would probably be sent to get Count Dooku and/or General Grevious (on the system where the Separatists leaders are holed up) or try to takeout Palpy (as per the movie). Either way Mace gets killed. Darth Maul would kill everyone at the Jedi Temple when Order 66 is issued. Palpy would whoop on Yoda (as per the movie) and maybe even has Maul as a backup. Dooku would turn on the Separatists leaders at Mustafar. So, Palpy is Emperor, Dooku is second in command, and Maul is Palpy's personal bodyguard (keeping an eye on Dooku. Palpy might have them fight each other so there is only one of them left to deal with). Yoda is in exile and the Rebellion is now forming. Anakin back on Tatooine, is still a slave. In his older years he will get cranky and kill Watto to be free with his mom. Maybe eventually Anakin's criminal exploits will eventually get noticed, and Maul or Dooku will be sent to bring him back to Palpy (if not outright kill him). There would be two Death Stars terrorizing the galaxy (the Rebellion will try to destroy the original Death Star, but will fail without the birth of Luke). And the Sith will rule the galaxy!!

Krytos wrote: You must be real tired Krytos, it's Aenivae_Ikeda's birthday . Pardon me for asking, but not being a computer whiz kid in all (other than the obvious), what's a "ladder"?

Other than Dinochick, Thumper is the only other cowgirl I know of (Hope you don't mind me mentioning that Thumper , also the "cowgirl" moniker is used with respect and honor, no offense meant ).

Not that it did multiple colors at once, but had three different crystals. With a twist of the handle the blade color would change as well as the length of the blade (three settings only). I don't remember any details right now.

Well, if it isn't obvious, my favorite actor is John Wayne. I like those old westerns (cowboy/cavlary movies). And the ones done in black&white are so classic. As for my favorite actress ... I'm not sure, maybe Sandra Bullock. I haven't seen all of her movies, but she's cute, I like the comedies and ... did you know she lives (sometimes) in Austin, Texas (not too far away) .

I must admit, I was thinking the same as Defender_16 originally. But, Jahled you definitely have a point. That would be a great improvement!
