We could expand that sort of thing to include best/mostproductive in the model stakes as well...

No proton torpedos? *Whines in a Luke voice* "Well how am I supposed to blow up the death star?" That is one helluva lotta money to pay to have that thing just sitting around and doing nothing.

I don't think so, it seems to imply (the thread) that reducing the firepower and increasing the rate of fire would result in the same damage per minute and the ships firing faster. They are in ratio so you just have to increase them proportionatley.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but greater options and controls for fighters would be a nice idea. More options/tactics would be nice, Can't really think of specifics right now but things such as greater options for targets, i.e. tell them to go for sheilds or weapons etc. That would give greater tactical scope for the game and would make things a lot more interesting. An expanded tactical cube might be nice as well, giving greater scope for things like flanking the enemy and setting up ambushes and just plain running away under sublight whilst you repair... Oh and of course better AI.

I think quite a lot of blame can be laid upon Hayden, whilst he may have had only the script he was given to work with we have to remember that Ewan McGergor had the same script to work with. Anakin's part would be from an acting point of view a very interesting part to play, the conflict within would be facsinating to work with and don't forget, actors always have a small input on their lines. During ESB Harrison Ford had his line from the scene in the Carbon Freezing room change from: Leia: I love you Han: I love you too Which is quite cliched to his actual line: Leia: I love you Han: I know Which he felt was more in tune with his character.

My guess is that they thought that he was a more independant character, not one who would always be there at the beck and call of the Empire. Being in it soley for the money after all...

Once on another person's PC, took a look at the baffling interface and gave up almost immediatley. I've just downloaded it and i'll give it a go. As I said before im a complete digital imaging Noob so we'll have to see how it goes. This time i've found the tutorials myself Is it any good? What addition functions/perks does it have? Oh and this is my attempt at one of the tutorials http://img160.echo.cx/img160/1373/maceinproghost5rp.th.jpg

*Whistles* Well i'm still a newb at Rebellion so I suppose that doesn't matter, yet. Currently at over 2000 on day 105 Curse my lack of production centres. *Shakes fist* In another game I had over 2500 because it was the close of the game (day 1500+) and I was looking for the damn rebel base. Although it might be something to do with my strat, which mainly revolves around building up my production bases whilst doing my best to sabotage any efforts to form a fleet by the other side before using my horded refined points on building huge fleets all over the place.

Cool, okay i'll look it over. Was the republic troop carrier this one or this one?[/url]

Lol! Thats sucks. I've only used the DS a few times, mainly on worthless outer rim plaents and the losses in popularity are still huge. Oh and i've used it one one core system, wasn't that bad just a loss of about 1/4 popularity on all planets, I had both the Sesswanna and Corellian on max so that sucked a bit.

Right then, i'm busily getting on with the tutrorials Mad showed me. They're great thanks Now i've had a look at the ships you've (adthrawn) mentioned and they all seem quite hard. Can't find any reference to the Alligance, but as a star destroyer it shouldn't be too hard to do. A few pics as a reference are needed though. If you have any others i'll look them over and give them my best shot

Do you mean this?

Thanks Mad, i've just started them, they seem from a glance to be great so thanks very much.

The idea was to start (as a beginner) with the Droid star fighter as it is not that compicated a shape. Two 'fins' attacked to the central body with its 'head'. It seems a fair starting challenge. It is not really particular questions I have it is more the fact that I am completely new to digital imaging. It is always a skill I have wanted to learn but i've never really taken a single step towards it till now. So really any advice you could give, either posted as a walkthrough here or an external URL that you cold recommened to help me learn would be good thanks. Just some step by step to help me learn. Even something to teach me the basic skils of imaging as I have no previous experience would be good!

A very fair point, I did indeed mention that poor script. I fully realise that an actor can only act with what he/she is given by the directot. But in my opinion Christensen did not manage to perform what should have been an interesting part. Even with the poor script to account for Anakin's bizzare behaviour there is still a distinct lack of emotion and feeling in his performance. One pet hate scence for me was the scene of Portman's death. It was very corny and the last line she had was a awful cliche. That I supose is down to the director but i'm not convinced of her performance in either movie. Generally I suppose the main problem for me is the script, whether it is targeted at a younger audience of not I still find parts just plain awful. As for the Ewoks, whether we can go as far as to be cynical with relating to mercahndise I don't dnow. I have heard two theories abou the Ewoks: a) Lucas had intended to have Wookies fighting but had already introduced Chewbacca as a civilised and technilogically advanced character and the civilisation on the moon was supposed to be reletivley primative. Therefore he cut the Wookies in half and called them Ewoks. b) Similarly he had planned to have a Kashyyyk scale battle in the first three at some point but had been unable to afford the production costs for the scene. Unwilling to let go of these furry characters he simply scaled both them and the action down. On last Ewok and Wookie related point. If you say Wookie repeatedly eventually it starts to come out as Ee-wook and from there it is a short jump to Ewok...just something I heard. possibly even somewhere on here! -
That'd be great thanks. Just post them here so I can work through them. Am I correct in assuming that star fighters are easiset?

The main problem for me was simply the awful acting and poor script. Christensen's voice was the most irritating drawl i've ever heard, it actually grated on my ears to hear it. He is a member of that unfortunatly large class of actors who get major roles not fot heir acting talent but for being 'pretty'. Other luminaries in this catagory include Orlando Bloom, playing a rugged Blacksmith in that new movie 'Kingdom of Heavan (sp? - looks weird) for example. A blacksmith? Him? Anyway, this sort of actor detracts from what for me was the big success of the the movie: Ewan McGregor. He did manage to sound very like Alec Guiness and acted well throughout despite the poor and clumsy script. The CGI whilst nice did not make a good replacement for a story. As for the continuity errors, one of two could have been forgiven but the inexplicable R2D2 and the homing missiles really did it for me. A lot of things happened that really shouldn't have for example the sudden change of Anakin. Whilst I agree that we had seen some of this in Episode II with the massacre of the sand people. The sudden change from, you shouldn't kill him, he has to stand trial to a scene later murdering kids was a bit quick. I also though that certain scenes involving Anakin and Palpatin could have been done a lot better, the mention of the Sith lore should really have tipped off Anakin as he is supposed to be intelligent. All in all i think Lucas blew what was a great chance to expand on the Star Wars story with the Prequels. I don't know what went wrong for him but in the end he has managed to produce 3 movies that are very sub-par and detract from the success of the original trilogy. -
Well after taking Mad's advice and getting Gmax and downloading Mask's tutoirals on models i'm starting to try and make my first. Although I first have to figure out how to use Gmax I've looked at the untaken models you need and decided that they are probably too hard for a beginner, I assume that starfighters are the easiest so if I work out how its all done I could try and do the droid starfighters if you need them?

This looks good, not pressing but any chance of a progress report?
