  1. No, it has not been release yet. Only test versions - available through the chatroom only for feedback
  2. Yes, definitely. Improvements to the graphics, gameplay, plus new storyline and races. They can use all the LOTR resources, not just what was shown in the movies. Good stuff all-around
  3. I just have to keep adding here... This made me laugh. I think the responses are quite funny.
  4. I'm using IE, seems to work fine. What version are you using? Has it been updated?
  5. I never said I hated any of the games you do. I just don't like to use mere speculation - I prefer proof. I had it already downloaded, after the first day of the demo release. But I haven't actually been able to play it until recently (lack of time.. etc etc etc)
  6. I found the demo to be quite good. Only the first two tutorials and two skirmish maps. But it really looks to be a great game. Finally, removing the building slots (unlike a certain other new RTS) in favor of a more free building placement. And building walls with fortifications and such.. cool. Naval battles will also be a part of the game. I can't think of anything bad about the demo except it requires Windows XP to run. Hope to get this game when it is finally released
  7. EaW isn't Rebellion 2 - it is more alike to traditional RTS (ala C&C) rather than the 4x games. There haven't been any new developments of games that would allow a very diverse number of units. The TA model seems to be a niche, with very few games allowing the kind of addons to support such a game. HW2 is a great start, as shown by Warlords, but still a lot of things that need to be enabled to mod. Most games seem to be tailored to the lowest common denominator. I really found Galactic Battlegrounds bland, a SW mod of AoE - not worthy of its own price. Force Commander, despite the camera controls, stood on its own as a game.
  8. Time will tell what support they give for modders of EaW. The XML seems to be quite good to unlock or edit certain things. But adding new features might be something that is not possible if they don't allow editing of the core engine code.
  9. Pretty sure its C++ - the staple for most Windows applications Even if you decompiled the thing, you'd just get a lot of assembly code. No way could you reconstruct the code back into a form that would be useful to edit it
  10. Well I guess it depends on what DVD program you have. I'm using PowerDVD and it has a simple button to generate save the screen to an image file. Very handy. Unfortunately it will be hard to do it this way if you are attempting to actual capture motion at a certain frame rate for GIFs
  11. Ah video card has dedicated memory? Nice. I believe it actually does use VM before the physical memory is full. A lot of it is because the overhead of the actual OS and VM system needs to be physical memory. VM is something that Windows actually does well. Don't know why
  12. My guess is that it doesn't have dedicated video memory. If its sharing main memory, it will be a lot slower - esp for all the 3D games. A lot of intensive memory usage. It is possibly maxing out your RAM, so then it has to go into virtual memory (ala, your hard drive). Second, the Intel chips have Speedstep - they will lower your clock speed to conserve power and cool down, and ramp it back up as needed. That is probably what you are seeing.
  13. Well if you're looking for others in 4X style, there's MOO series (Master of Orion) and Galactic Civilizations
  14. Well good they're on the ball. Guess more errors were found since the date they made the gold cd
  15. Total I think Canada's been like 80-90 to 3 points. Just slaughtering. You mean the Czechs?
  16. Patience, no one knows - including Eville. He'll release it when its ready. That's it
  17. Canada's just slaughtering all teams they play. So much for international goodwill and everything - they've had what... 3 points scored against them
  18. Using HW 1.1 Patch? Created a new player profile? Updated your video drivers? Not much else you can do. Have to wait til 0.50 comes out, then Clone Wars will be obsolete
  19. http://pc.ign.com/objects/743/743360.html Yea, another one of these Korean MMORPGs coming out. Looks to be a type of game very similar to Diablo. Look at the opening cinematics video... doesn't everything just remind of you of Lord of the Rings. It just seems like a lot of imagery from the movies influenced this game. Granted, its in the fantasy genre, so it'll have to have familiar things. But I start to think specifics.. like "Helm's Deep" .. sorta waiting for the hobbits to pop out Of course, its also familiar because Howard Shore scores the music - yep, he also did LOTR Go figure eh? At least in the next cinematic, it shows some very cool fighting and a dragon. I don't remember any influences of dragons in the movie (I'm not an LOTR buff, so perhaps there are references to dragons in LOTR books - I'm uninformed here). So hopefully there are things we haven't seen before, just doesn't rehash every other fantasy game we've seen
  20. When it's released
  21. It requires the Java runtime files. There is a link to download from that page.
  22. It is designed to highlight the Clone Wars era ships - a standalone to Warlords 0.45. All of it will be included in 0.50, so you won't have to download something seperate
  23. I doubt it was suicidal attacks. You are talking about the Imperial Navy here, pilots would have been trained to use their great maneuverability to defeat enemy fighters. And they are designed to be used in a swarm of other TIEs, supported by a carrier or other base. They just aren't designed to be one-man platforms like the Rebel fighters.
  24. Does anyone else feel that targetting a KFC to protest over Danish cartoons is ludicrous? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060214/ap_on_re_mi_ea/prophet_drawings
  25. Ya, you should have got it 2 years ago or so... It isn't such a big seller as those MMORPGs. Though I am surprised it would not be in any electronic stores still. I'm pretty sure it is still available at my local Best Buys or various other game stores
