Mask has the right idea, put it in the bank and save up for something. $1000 can do a bit by itself, but $1000+ can do more

Which is your favorite Starfighter? (corrected)

Droid fighters are easy kills and are only good in large numbers - swarm attacks - that and they don't fear or hesitate. I think he was referring to TIE Defender though - I could be wrong Umm KeyanFarlander, which fighter did you mean Defender or Droid? P.S. Is it alright if I/we call you Farlander? Or do you prefer KeyanFarlander? -
When there are too many warships it WILL slow down - I've got an AMD 64bit 3000+, 1 gig of RAM (PC3200), and a Radeon 9800 Pro and battles run slow when there are large fleets fighting. My latest battle included (my) 4 DSDs, 1 Bulwark, 5 Assault Frigates, 2 Strike Cruisers, 4 Light Frigates, 4 Neb-Bs, 2 Gunships, 8 Lambda class Shuttles and 8 E-Wings squadrons vs. 1 MC80c, MC80, MC80a, 2 MC80b liberty, 8 Strike cruisers, 4 Dreadnughts, 1 Assault Frigate, mixture of fighters. There was a third player, though they weren't in the battle. As soon as the fighting started, my frame rate dropped to at least half. If I recal right, Evillejedi was saying that the original homeworld 3D models where very low poly models, where as the models used in this mod are very high - so you're not the only one who will have your computer slow down as the fleets increase. I think that EvilleJedi was also saying, correct me if I'm wrong, that the weapon effects weren't optimised yet? ?

Better late than never Didn't that happen when the E-Wing was originally released, or there abouts? ? - because, if I remember right, Luke partly didn't except it because the E-Wing didn't work with any droid under an R7 model . . . so no R2-D2 At the start of NJO, the newer XJ3s were rare - so as the New Republic didn't have anything against the Jedi at that time it was more fitting to give Elite units including Jedi the fighter until it came into full production - then it spread throughout the New Republic. And the rumour of the J meaning Jedi was brought about by good 'ol Kyp Durron being sighted piloting one of the first in battle. This happened before the XJ3s were released. Also, by saying it's the new Jedi starfighter doesn't limit the Jedi to this craft - I'd say it's the Jedi's choice. It's just in the NJO novels the when Jedi were said to be piloting a fighter it was always "the brand new XJ3" - even though, Mara Jade piloted a series 4 E-Wing during the final battle at Borleias. Basically, the XJ3 was a more popular fighter with the authors of most NJO books - rpg sources have stated that Series 4 E-Wings were as popular as the XJ3s. -
hmm perhaps not - it hasn't taken off like last time, oh well gotta keep trying Forty-six and two - Tool

Actaully the computer version of HALO was simply ported from X-Box to PC and is worse on PC as it is optimised to run on the specific system of an X-Box. Not to mension that they've created effects with shaders that can only be done using a 3D card that is shader compatible - so without this you lose some of the nice effects. Also, the game will run slower on different architectured CPUs - ie non-intel, different contruct principles, 64-bit etc.

Oh please forgive me Warmaster - shall I sacrifice an arm for the Gods? I don't know about better than with the New Republic, but he would have definitely been able to disrupt the Empire. After all, the Vong had been studying the galaxy before attacking it to learn it's weaknesses. If the Empire were still in power when the Vong invaded, I doubt that they would have been beter opponent.

Yeah, picture wise Iwouldn't mind finding a real one, if there are any As for shadow bombs, they're Proton Torpedoes that have the propellant and replace it with addition explosives. Only Jedi can use them because once they've been launched out of a fighter, only a Jedi - using telepathy - can guide the bomb to it's target. If you see something on the forum that you don't have any idea about, one of the best sources I've seen and use often is http://www1.theforce.net/CUSWE/, just type what was said into the search section and chances are it'll bring up an answer and what books it came from, eg: Shadow Bomb - This was the term used by Luke Skywalker to describe Kyp Durron's tactic of launching unpropelled proton torpedoes at Yuuzhan Vong targets with the Force. While this took much of the pilot's concentration away from his starfighter and the surrounding battle, the Yuuzhan Vong were unable to accurately target the proton torpedo when it lacked a propellant trail. This allowed the torpedoes to reach a Yuuzhan Vong craft and detonate before a dovin basil could be used to consume it. Those Jedi Knights who flew the newer T-65XJ3 X-Wing starfighter found that they could load one torpedo launcher with modified proton torpedoes, removing the propellant in favor of more explosive material, making even more potent shadow bombs. (SBS, NJOSB) However, somethings aren't perfect on the site - generally typos -
I don't know - if the Rebel Alliance was capable of almost wiping out the Empire due to exploiting their flaws, the Vong surelly would have (just look at what Nom Anor accomplished by himself!). Then again, half the reason the Vong were around so long is because of the New Republic's lack of responce to the threat, in this area the Empire was definitely better - at least they can see a threat! Also, as the Remnant found out the Vong aren't push overs - they got pounded too Damn Vong - ah, no offence Trejiuvanat

Nice battle, and congrats for not giving up! 777 kills Wow, no matter what game it is, that's a high kill count!

Yeah, the same here - just played a game where I needed to built a Bulwark and could only build 4 modules - the torp module appears as if it hasn't been researched. Also, there are 6 spaces for modules, yet only one of each module can be built Unlike BobandRubert I have research enabled - so it seems to be with version 0.29

hmmm, your number looks a little high, 25,000? ? I think it was less than that, maybe one too many zeros - anyway the way that a large number (what ever the number was) got reduced due to the power vacuum left after the death of the Emporer - Admiral, Generals and Moffs alike all wanted to be the new Emporer. As such, they gathered what ever forces they could muster and attempted to install themselves as the new Emporer or equivalent. The outcome was a sort of civil war between these warlords resulting in huge loss of Imperial life and material. However, not everyone was foolish enough to be brought into the battle - characters like Thrawn, Pellaeon and of course Dalla. Infact, Dalla tried to bring the Empire together on several occasions (I'm not sure if she ever suceeded, or if it was Pellaeon who ended up uniting the Remnant Empire). As for the New Republic, they never had large fleets made of enormous vessels - rather the oppisite. They originally constructed their fleets around carriers with smaller vessels acting as mainly escort while fighters and bombers attacked the enemy - this later evolved into a mix between carriers with escorts and large combat ships. By the time the Vong attacked the New Republic had around 5 fleets (each containing approximately 500 vessels - not including fighters) as well as smaller independant task forces. Due to the truce with the Remnant several years earlier, the New Republic had even began to down size their already small fleets, after all it is a really big galaxy, and new warship designs were rare as they weren't needed - hence small numbers of Bothan Assault cruisers and Star Defenderes, not to mension the larger combat ships such as Defender class Star Destroyers were only produced in small numbers. The Defender in particular, when released 10 of these vessels were constructed with only an additional 1 planned per year! Never the less the New Republic's fleets were amply suited for combat against the Vong, as they both preferred tactics to brute force (well, the New Republic at least - the Vong sometimes liked chucking a massive fleet at the enemy ). What almost doomed the New Republic was its goverment - the ineptness of the senate resulted in senators wanting to make peace with the Vong, senators (mainly from the advisory council) trying to position themselves better for more power and finally betraying the New Republic for their own gain - Viqi Shesh to name a few.

Great site Mad, that sites hilarious - I especially liked the one with the Ewok stealing the speeder bike - and then the Empire's revenge

The other thing is the all mighty dollar - even in Star Wars, things are expensive Imagine trying to outfit a fleet of hundreds of already expensive warships with extremely fast, and extremely expensive hyperdrives - it just wouldn't be feasible, even the New Republic ships only have a hyperdrive rating of 1 as standard. Not too mention that the Empire was in the habit of having very expensive projects going as well *cough* Death Star *cough* By the way, the way the hyperdrive rating works is it's a multiplier - ie. if it takes 1 day for a specific jump with a rating 1, a rating 2 will take 2 days and a rating 0.6 would take 0.6 days and so on - basically the lower the number, the faster the ship through hyperspace.

The E-Wing and XJ-Wing have the same speed as the TIE Interceptor, with the E-Wing being highly maneuverable as well (whether it's as maneuverable as a TIE, I don't know). As for the look of the XJ, to my knolledge Star Wars hasn't released any new design -just a standard X-Wing with another torp launcher (The XJ matched the speed of the E-Wing and tried to up it with firepower - hence a third torp launcher with a total of 9 torps). However, I found a good site where some guy made his own design and model of an XJ X-Wing: http://www.starshipmodeler.com/starwars/aw_xj.htm As for the TIE Advanced, Vader's fighter was sort of a test bed. His fighter was stronger than a standard TIE, faster, had shields and a hyperdrive. The TIE Advanced (which was re-named the Avenger) was one end result of Vader's fighter - though never saw full production due to production costs and the popularity of the cheaper TIE Interceptor. The Avenger/Advanced learnt from Vaders X1 that a hyperdrive and shields were a good idea then went one up by giving it warhead launchers as well. Though, as mentioned before, it was too expensive to outfit the Empire's fighter core with Avengers - as such only specific elite units were given the fighter in very limited numbers -

The XJ series, especially the XJ3, are awesome - and I do agree that they seem to be the right vessel for a Jedi. Still, I prefer my E-Wing -
hmmm, to many good games too choose from . . . Ok, KOTOR is a definite, All the Jedi Knight games (especially Academy, literally just finished twice in a week on the hardest difficulty - but still very fun), Force Commander, Rebellion X-Wing Alliance, TIE Fighter and that's pretty much on my favourites. Of course there are the others that I like, like Galactic Battlegrounds, Rogue Squadron etc. To many games, not enough money

Zsinj saga - They've got pretty good weapons: quad laser and dual concussion launcher. Though thats all that was good for them, they were slow (same speed as B-Wing) and also being droid starfighters generally makes them easy kills. More to the point, they're ugly! ! http://www.cswu.cz/shiptech/fighters/raptor/raptor.jpg
