OOC: T'Char, the Reckless Wonderer is my frigate Ulic's freighter is the Nova Dream - I'm guessing your meeting up on my frigate to get things organised before setting off for Hefi, or whatever it is that your character is planning on doing . . .

Karn glanced at Tython as he talked about the Maw. How does he know about that? Shacking the thought, Karn just answered hoping to stear the idea of the existance of the Maw away from the topic. "Hmm, well I've heard those rumours to - of the Sun Crusher. And I think they prove that a super weapon no-longer needs to be the largest thing under the sun. "Nevertheless, a super weapon needs to be able to defeat any obsticle in it's way - which I think all have been able to do. And they need to get rid of any little weaknesses they may have. "I'd say you'd either want a massive space station capable of using its super weapon and great ranges, being heavily armoured and having plenty of support weapons to deal with fighters, bombers and cruisers to a lesser extent. "Or, something that has few weapons along with the super weapon - though is small, fast and manouverable. Which is pretty much the Sun Crusher." Karn finished his drink as another thought came to mind. "Or, you could go inbetween the two. The Empire built some Super Star Destroyers that houses weaponry simular to the Executor class SSD, gravity well projectors and a super laser. Lets see, there were the Eclipses and . . . and the Soverigns. Which brings me to my next point - Gravity Well generators. A must for every fleet today, and a definete for a super weapon."

Hmm, tricky question. It really depends on the cruiser as well - if it's a light cruiser, heavy cruisre, carrier etc. Nevertheless, I'd say under the right cercumstances a Captain might be given the privallege or perhaps a field promotion just for that tour of duty upto a Major and allowed to command a vessel that lacks a CO for what ever reasons - killed or its a new ship and a captain for the vessel can't be found in time etc.

I have had the game crash after a fleet battle where I take control - as soon as the screen comes up to say "You are victorious" or equivalent, the game crashes and I get the all to familur: This program has performed an illegall Operation. Now, generally I would blame this soley on Windows XP, and some incompatability. Though it doesn't always happen, and it has happened a few times on my friends computer who is currently running Windows 98 SE. Oh well, I've learnt to save a lot just in case

Yeah, naming ships is half the fun! Seriously though, I find it extremely helpful to name at least my hero ships and flagships to know if they were damged or destroye etc. For example, when you get the message: "Dauntless Cruiser 12 has completed all repairs" you better remember where and what your 12 Dauntless was upto. Though, something to the extent of "Imperial Tempest has completed all repairs" - it usually clicks that it's an important ship and where it may be stationed. Those are my thoughts at least P.S. Hey SOCL, Imperial Tempest is a cool name - Ticonderoga reminds me too much of Starship Troopers and modern naval ships.

IC: Karn stared across at the slumped figure of T'char. Reaching his arm over the table, Karn slowly removed his drink and continued talking. "Actually, the way I understand it, the Jedi need to consentrate hard to focus the force through their bodies. After a while it drains them both physically and mentally. The mental aspect is obviously due to the intense consentration - the physical is due to the force becoming an extension of themselves, as well as the force energy that is a part of them. I guess sort of like the battery anology. Personally, I'm not one for the medichlorine story - in my own opinion, I simply think they're an organism drawn to beings that can control the force. The stronger one is within the force, the more there are simply because they're attracted to a stronger source. "Then again, until you experience it - we can only guess." OOC: Congrats T'char on reaching Sergeant

"Well, I've got a rough idea on how scanners work. Anyway, we've got a handful of techs to help us if we get stuck. Now, I was going to start our little meeting by inquiring how exactly we're going to investigate the signals if there aren't any Imperials around? We can't wait here for ever, just hoping they show . . . " Karn was cut short as the room's lights shut down and were replaced by several red lights and a warning klaxons. Kre'nel was already heading to the turbolift as Karn called out for a report on what was going on. "Sit rep!" "Sir," a technician at one of the consoles in the cargo hold called out. "Long range scanners are picking up an intermediate signal. It’s too weak to pinpoint or verify – though the signal suggests that there is a large number of vessels towards sector 224.04.003. The signal appears to in the vicinity of the moon. We are unable to get any other information on the signal . . . Sir, the contacts have disappeared!â€

**Eye's widen as he imagines the plasma bombs detonating on the SSDs shields and colopsing them, allowing the bombers to start using more lethal warheads** Hmm, I'm not sure how Eville is implementing it, though there are ships planned from other factions in SW. There's already the model for a Hapan Battle Dragon done, as well as some models for Vong stuff - can't remember what they were, though I'm pretty sure one was a Coral Skipper. There are also Old Republic warships planned to be in it. In a thread, Eville comfirmed that the TF ships would be for the Alliance (shudders at the thought) and the Empire would use the Old Republic's ships. Though, I'm pretty sure the others are going to be computer controled only. Try asking Eville about it - or heavily suggesting - in the balance and ideas thread. I'd like to be able to have multiple teams as well. It would be cool to fight the Empire, Vong and Pirates at the same time!
-
Hey Eville, I was curious whether or not turrets can be added to fighters? Because, both the Y-Wing (Well the two-seater variant) has a rear mounted ion-cannon turret and the K-Wing has a quad and dual laser turret. There are also others with turrets, like the Skipray. So basically, I was wondering whether or not the turrets could be put onto fighters to add to the gameplay and "realism"?
-
Both the K-Wing and Z-95 are listed as needing extra modelling, and the Cloakshape and Starchaser are listed as not started yet. So, hopefully we'll see the K-Wing and Headhunter in the next version! ! Woo! Go the K-Wing!

Sweat beading on Karn's forehead, dripped off his face as he leaned ackwardly on his right arm. I think everyone here needs some medical attention Karn thought to himself. "Ah . . . pass me up your droid Afton. I've got no idea where we are." The little droid moved up to Karn, and got to work quickly bringing up information on the shaft they were in. As they continued to crawl along, Karn studied the informatino being given to him. "Alright, if we continue down here for 20 metres, we'll be able to enter a large maintenance shaft. From there, all we have to do to get to the surface is . . ." Karn's voice was cut off as the vent creeked and buckled under them. The four beings, and one droid, fell towards the floor. With a loud thud, the group hit the floor - and with a cry, it was obvious Sib was in emense pain. "Ok, that wasn't part of the plan." Karn muttered. Standing, Karn looked around the room they were in. It was a small, square room with practically nothing in it except two pipes with adjustable valves on them. There were two ways into the room, one infront and one behind. The one infront was down a short corridor, the door had light streaking from under the door. Daylight. "Afton, tend to Ulic and Sib - I'm going to check this out." But Karn didn't need to say anything, Afton was already tending to Sib. Karn quickly moved over to the door. Using the door's controls, he opened the door only a little more - opening the gap under the door to a couple of inches. Dropping to all four, though leaning heavily on his left, Karn peared under the door. Ouside was a landing platform, it was apparent now, that the platform was on the side of the cloud city - and was littered with Imperial transports and soldiers. In the short time he watched, a fresh transport landed and unloaded all of it's cargo and took off again, the cargo were deadly Stormtroopers already headed in the opposite direction to Karn to a main exit. Jumping to his feet, Karn ran back to the group. "I swear to Palpatine's face, we are having the worse luck of our lifes today!" Karn only recieved a confused glance from Sib. "Ok, maybe I need to be a little more to the point? Ok, there's a regiment of stormtroopers and their transports on the other side of this door on a landing platform - I think it's wise to go the other way." OOC: Could someone bring up the idea of stealing one of the tranports? I would have, though it kinda contridicts what I was talking about So there;s question two: do we want to try and steal a transport here? Or somewhere saver?

Hmm . . . promotion. Well, the pay for a Major isn't the best - so why not! ! I guess I would have been a major since before Bespin (othe RPG), so he's about due for a promotion I like your idea for the unknown contacts - especially where the NR gets blamed, that would be cool. As for the intel mission, yeah I'm up for staying with the fleet - my frigate couldn't really take much of a pounding. Keeping fighters at bay, and maybe a corvette would be the best I could muster - effectivelly my frigate is a Neb-b with simular firepower, though concentrated mainly in lasers and can't hold fighters. Couldn't only do a hit and run or survalliance mission by itself. Hey Jess, I can see Bandi will be a character we're gonig to love to hate
-
Hey Brandei, how do you want Alex and Karn to handle their mission? Should we leave the fleet and chace after the Imps trying out the new sensor suite? Or stay with the fleet until it gets attacked?

Ah, 1337 - now it clicks! Well, I'm not sure how in depth Unagi353 meant 1337 to be, though here's the history: 1337 is short for 31337 - which is actually "eleet", a slang way of saying elite. This is apparent hacker lingo, was based on a group called the Dead Cow Cult who exploited the 31337 UDP port on Windows 95 to gain access using a program (who's name I wont use). It also evolved into its own slang language. Thus, Unagi353 was either refereeing to himself not being the elite or not being a hacker. EDIT: Guess it isn't much use now Thanks Admiral

Pfff, this is the internet. And you two know nothing about grammar and spelling. I got that far, it's the last bit I don't understand... Especially if you are ???? (which I am not) I've got no idea what 1337 is . . . LEEI? IEEL?

A few updates from my end of the stick. Rantar's now on a downwards spiral of despair after finding out the sturtling news about his world. He'll be drunk for a while, until a friend pulls him out of the gutter (most probably, quite literally). Once back on track, he'll find out some more things about the Organisation, Sith and the Vorie. He'll then start an uprising on the planet and try to destroy the Vorie from there - any help would be appreciated Hmm, eventually I'll get Rantar to joinback up with Barkoa to tell him about the Org and some other interesting facts - like the Vorie's weakness, if Rantar ever finds it! Staring through the glass he saw himself, an empty vessel looking endlessly at nothingness – dismal and dismayed had become Rantar. The glass was empty, devoid of any substance or conscience thought, much like himself. The picture was all black and white now, with endless shades of grey in between. His life had become a dream, a dream that had been shattered by the very nature of his meaningless existence – a shattered dream, a shattered world. His life, his world was a sham. Nothing but lies built upon lies, all for the purpose of death and destruction – a terrible lie. Nothing was clear anymore, judgment was hazy and Rantar could no longer see which side of the line he stood on. It was his own loathing that pulled him further down the dark spiral he had found within himself, a secluded little hole that swallowed all the pain that his existence brought. Feeble, pathetic, wretched, used – the animosity that was his own was all that stopped him from being consumed. Betrayed, tormented, polluted, hated. Picking up the glass, Rantar headed through the faceless crowd’s of life, back to the bar for another drink, in the desperate hope to cleanse himself.

I personally use 3D Studio Max, though there are a number of other 3d modelling programs out there, Lightwave, Maya, Bryce . . . Heck, if you really want there's a 2 meg 3d modelling program called Wings 3d. My brother's using it for making game models - it's actually good, and it has one of the easiest UVW mappers ever! I'm tempted to use it for mapping Hmm, I'll have to ask him where he got it - I'm pretty sure it's free.

OOC: Yeah, sounds good. It'll make it a lot easier to talk about and get stuff organised. IC: Karn and Captain Kre'Nel enterd the turbolift that would take them down the the ship's cargo bay. This would be their first meeting to discuss their intellegence gathering mission and how they were going about it. Kre'Nel was coming down as well to make sure everything was in order in the cargo bay. "Sir, do you know anything about this new technology the Imperials are using?" Kre'Nel pipped up. "Not really, well not in prticular. During the Rebellion the Imperial's were always cooking some new peice of technology up to stop us. Though now that the Rebel Alliance has moved onto the New Republic, they're fighting a new war on leveller terms. Towards the end of the Emperor's life, there was a few Imperial research facilities working on jamming equipment to foil the Alliance's hit and run tactics. It's most likely a heavily modified version of one of these jammers." Kre'Nel took in the information with ease as all Bothan's do. And, as always, her responce was straight to the point. "Do you or the New Republic posses knowlledge on the workings of these jammers?" "Me? Not a clue. And I don't think the New Republic ever got their hands on this technology, then again I don't think they would tell us if they did." Before either could continue the conversation, the doors on the lift slid open revealing the cargo bay of his ship. It had been significantly altered since the last time he had seen it. The open areas had been filled with a range of equipment, droids and personal. It looked like there was at least fifteen others down here. Standing with his back turned to the elevator, and looking at some of the equipment, was Sergeant Brandei. Karn and Kre'Nel exited the turbolift and headed over towards Brandei.

OOC: I probably wont get to make another post for a while, so here's a one that'll fill in some of the mysteries surrounding the Organisation. Oh yeah, it's a long one IC: "I bet you're wondering what is happening? Why your own people are betraying you? Why, you Rantar, are being forced to fight your own." Rantar could only stare back in disbelief at his CO. Terlen continued to speak in an all to calm tone - all most as if he had excepted Rantar to find him. "Well, I guess I owe you some explanations. For starters, as you are probably aware of, I'm only second in command of the operations on this planet. In fact, the leader is someone in a higher position than myself - though who, is something you'll be required to figure out yourself. "Secondly, Vathonir is only one world that is under the control of the Organisation. The Organisation is made up hundreds of members that span over countless worlds; each member of the Organisation is guaranteed a prominent position on their planet of choice. As such, you can expect any true members to be those with political or even military ties, in other words you shouldn't trust anyone. The thugs we have are merely hired guns and are not part of our esteemed organisation. The Organisation, in the simplest of terms, is a governmental conspiracy that has been set up to bring worlds into order for our higher purpose. The Organisation, is actually controlled by a higher power once more - the Sith. It is the Sith who are your true enemies here Rantar, not us. "Thirdly, I'm going to let you in on a rather large secret Rantar." Terlen took a sip out of brandy glass that he had been holding in his left hand before he continued. "This planet was originally colonised for a sole purpose - to breed Vorie; the killer monsters that you encountered earlier. The Sith know that these creatures pose a major threat to the stability of the Republic and Jedi Order, they hope that with a large enough force, they can use them to wipe out the Jedi or severely cripple them. This would put them next in line for control of the galaxy. Now, the Vorie are not a creature that can be controlled - thus the Sith have "added" something to their genetic make up, which gives them the ability to control the Vorie. "The purpose of the Organisation on Vathonir was to make certain that the Vorie could be bread without the Republic noticing. The colonisation is just a cover to allow scientists and biologist onto the planet without anyone being the wiser. The terrorist attacks were to cover our tracks and ties between the Sith and Vorie. And in the end, the Organisation controlled all of this. Be fortunate that the Vorie are only being bread here - on other worlds, the Organisation is merely setting up the planet as allies to the Sith or venerable for attack." Rantar's fists were still clenched tight. He couldn't move from his stance, he could only stare at Terlen with anger. Terlen stared back, and then shook his head. "Rantar - don't you understand? I've come to the realisation that I've made a lot of mistakes with the Organisation. That I am responsible for the deaths of hundreds if not thousands. And, nothing I do can fix that - though after the last bombing enough was enough. I was the one who called the Jedi. I'm trying to help you, you are the only one who can stop the Organisation on Vathonir and the information I have told you can help save the Jedi." As Terlen finished his sentence, an alarm began to ring outside the room. Spinning around, Rantar noticed a small camera above the doorway he had just walked through. With all the ranting Terlen had done, he had just handed him over to the very people he said he was trying to stop. "They wont let me live after this. Go now Rantar, save our planet and stop the Sith - I'll stop them here, you . . . you must carry on the fight at all costs." Terlen moved to his desk and opened a draw. He pulled out some object and hid it from sight before Rantar could even get a clear look at it. Pointing at the window, which he was opening he continued to speak - with a sense of urgency. "Before you leave Rantar - you need to try and remember back to the explosion. You saw something there that will help you in your fight. Now go!" With that, Rantar was leaping out of the window and running on the grounds of the mansion. After a minute of continuous running, he turned to see if anyone was following him only to witness Terlen's handclasp around a small object, and then the mansion exploded in a massive fireball.
