  1. I live down under in Australia, in the state of Victoria and in particular, the mountonous and bushy area in the Shire of Lylidale - in particular the small suburb of . . . well, few people know of . . . even people who live in Victoria (as I found out first year of Uni, after no-one knew where I lived )
  2. Whilst I've got the Defender class Star Destroyer on the back burner whilst we try to figure out what's wrong with the textures - I've moved onto another model. (Though texturing wont start until the problem is fixed) http://img278.imageshack.us/img278/9553/njorangergunship1fw.th.jpg This time I've gone on a completely different path to creating this model. Instead of the old method of using primitive geomtry items and then subdividing them, extruding and editing etc. In the end that resulted moderate poly models, with numerous objects (prior to joining them together). This time, I've gone a completely different direction - using the line tool in 3ds to create an edge, I've created the entire mesh from scratch. The result is pretty good, though still needs some work. It also has an extremely low poly count of 576 - where I assumed 2 to 3 times more. http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/9486/rangerstage012vj.th.gifhttp://img481.imageshack.us/img481/4564/rangerstage026nr.th.jpg http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/6513/rangerstage036xx.th.gif
  3. Yes, it's true - Yoda break dances! And for all of you with Episode III on DVD (like me ) it's a hidden easter egg that you can all try. Read about it here: http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/release/video/news20051110.html And figure out how to do it here: http://blogs.starwars.com/12365/27/comments Personally, I've been too lazy to try it yet - so any of you willing, tell us all about it! !
  4. Here it is, in all it's ugliness I'll send it to you as well Mad, hopefully we can fix it http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/2246/dsd2ka.th.jpg
  5. Well, good news and bad news . . . no wait, mainly bad news The model has a poly count of just over 2000 faces, closer to 2100. Bad news: Tried it in game and . . . well, ugly. I fixed up a lot of the model problems, though I've got a huge texture problem. The textures white, yet the model is a dark grey with a lot of anomolies in the texture, such as green areas and no blues or reds I'll post some pics soon of what it looks like soon I think I'll be getting in contact with the all mighty Mask and beg for his assistance, as I had simular problems with my last model - the Belarus (including some texture areas that made the ship transparent) *starts warming up the begging pose* EDIT: Oh yeah, D16 - I've already got in the works the following models from a few months ago: Defender Carrier (slightly modified Majestic) Sacheen Frigate Hajeen Fleet Tender (Sacheen modified - no idea to what yet) Warrior Gunship Agave Picketship (you guessed it, modifed model of the Warrior) Ranger Gunship <- Making the entire mesh from scratch, no primatives at all! and some others that dont spring to mind at the moment.
  6. Back again, and with a new model in the bag. The New Republic's Defender class Star Destroyer and the Endurance class Fleet Carrier. All modelled, all textured - now I jsut need to try it in game DSD: http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/8391/dsd082ua.th.jpghttp://img354.imageshack.us/img354/6411/dsd018gw.th.jpghttp://img221.imageshack.us/img221/8996/dsd028lb.th.jpghttp://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1113/dsd070it.th.jpg EFC: http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/8342/efc15dt.th.jpghttp://img147.imageshack.us/img147/2202/efc27ve.th.jpghttp://img147.imageshack.us/img147/7600/efc31ak.th.jpghttp://img147.imageshack.us/img147/9923/efc42qq.th.jpg
  7. The Belarus is actually the sucessor to the Loranar Strike Cruiser, so I tried to make it look like the Strike Cruiser. The concept art is . . . well, hidious. I'm pretty sure I've deleted the image, because it looks nothing like a ship I might actually make a Eidolon if I find the original art for it. Anywho, next model is wellllll on it's way
  8. I got that image as well as the DSDs from Star Wars area at the Wizard's of the Coast website I found it in one of the archives somewhere - it was an exert from Starships of the Galaxy sourcebook
  9. New model up and running - Belarus Medium Cruiser. Get it here: http://www.swrebellion.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=115
  10. Woo, welcome back DC! ! Glad to hear you've been keeping busy Bloody brilliant! !
  11. I like the basic concept, and would definitely buy this game. I've wanted an Infiltrator style of game set during the Empire and Remnant era with a mix of commando and Guerilla war (truth be told, I had hoped that was what Republic Commando was about when I first heard its name). I'm not sure about a completely Dynamic campaign though - maybe for a soley Guerilla warfare game, though if it were more Infiltrator perhaps something with a basic linear story line with dynamic elements. A bit like the first Dues Ex. Just my 2 cents.
  12. Very nice stuff there - no, I take that back: Bloody exellent stuff!! Those are some extremelly high quality resin models. Very nice, though I'd assume that they're only really set up for work in the States? Still, I'd like to see some EU ships as well - Three of my personal favourites E-Wing: E-Wing01 E-Wing02 Defender Star Destroyer: Defender Star Destroyer Bothan Assault Cruiser: Bothan Assault Cruiser
  13. You must be real tired Krytos, it's Aenivae_Ikeda's birthday . Of course there may be some sort of weird change due to the international dateline time-space continuum from "Down Under" and it really is Admiral Toguro Ani's birthday . My bad - serves me right for posting at 1 in the morning *coughs in a vein attempt to hide his eneptness* Happy 16th birthday Aenivae
  14. The first thing I thought when I saw that was some kid dressing up as a suicide bomber. Funny that Nice one J - where on earth do you find these pictures?
  15. Happy birthday Aenivae_Ikeda !!!!!!! How old, are thee? . . . and what presents did you get? EDIT: For wrong name - never post when it's 1 in the morning . . .
  16. *Smillies at himself, and does a little gig* Well, Uni's coming to a close (whether that's good or bad - and we'll see how that exam I did today panned out ) So, sometime after I finish a few of my own 3d models I've neglected . . . which are a lot actually . . . I'll do some more requests If you look at some of my posts in the New Model thread thingy (the first, sticky post) in the modelling area - you'll see my little onlcave of models I'm thinking: Sacheen, DSD, Balarus and the accompying meshes (Like the Endurance fleet carrier) before I work on others. Then go back to my own on an alternating patern. I've kinda been thinking about this for a bit
  17. I'm male, well last time I checked at least . . . . nope, still male. I know/knew of Dinochick, Thumper and BBL (if I remember the name right ) as being women on the site. It's a shame there aren't more - adds some nice diversity to the mix
  18. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page It's like an online dictionary - filled with "wiki"(simple jargon that means nothing) articles about . . . anything really. You can find most things in there. Try it, search for some Star Wars thing and there's probably an article. Would post more, but me tired . . . 1:00 in the morning, need sleep . . .
  19. It's l33t speak Tofu - not leak And try to stay on track - this threads about how you came to SWR not . . . whatever it's turned into now
  20. Grab it from here: http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax But get it quick - times running out

  22. Dang, after hearing this post I was excited! A new Star Wars game that could please JI? (Is that even possible ) But it seems from what people have told me (and from JI's own view), that this should join the first in some dark hole. . . Still, if it's Beta - can you post your thoughts/comments somewhere? Maybe there's a chance of salvaging this train wreck?
  23. I'm pretty much on the same page as Evaders and GAT here. I'm not a huge Mac fan (yet I use them for design at Uni - I'd prefer to use a PC though), even though they're generally good quality. From what my friends have shown me of the iPods - I'm sticking away from them. If I were to get an MP3 player - I'd get a different brand like Creative that's, in my opinion, more bang for your buck. For now, I'll stick to my CD players (I'd stick to my car CD player, but I sold the car 2 weeks ago ) and my MD player.* I have little want for a small movie player like the new iPod movie**. I personally prefer to use my*** Sony Wega Widescreen TV and DVD player over that - if I watch a movie, I want to experience it in its fully. It's like watching a cheap bootleg of a movie and being disappointed just by its quality. But that's just me *Could be a copy of Jahled's footnotes **Not the name I call them by - my name goes along the lines of what I think of their quality and all the hack "celebrities" that advertise these products ***May, or may not be, my parents TV
  24. While I don't use GMax, it is a shame that it's being cancelled. As a free modelling program, it was great - utilised a lot of features used by 3ds max for basic modelling, was only like 30Mb. It only had a few faults - couldn't render and didn't get any of the newer benifits of later 3ds max versions. AutoDesk does have a legitamet reason at least for discontinuing the product - still, it'll be missed. On a side note - for those interested in the world of 3d modelling - here's some relatively ground breaking news: Autodesk News Autodesk is going to own Alias! What's does the future hold for 3ds Max and Maya then? Will one disappear? Will both be continued as if nothing happened? Will both cease to exist and in place a new and far more powerful 3d program fills the gap?
  25. Hmm, I use to get this problem sometimes as well - and of rescent it appears to occur only when loading a saved game (but then again, it's been quiet a while since playing the mod). I'm pretty sure I did a few things - first was persistance. If at first you don't succeed, keep bloody trying 'till it works! Sometimes I'd restart my computer and then try again without running anything else etc. But in the end it seemed to be an overall problem that was semi intermitent. It seems as if while loading something (generally something large, like the galaxy or a saved game database) the game simple gets overloaded and crashes to the desktop. The last time I played the game, I first uninstalled the mod and then the game. Re-installed the game and then played HW2 normally for a bit and then installed the 1.1 patch, played a bit, and then the actual mod was installed. It seems to have made it more stable for me - so you might want to give that a shot. Otherwise you might be stuck with the default HL2 maps (which are generally phisically smaller than most of the Warlord maps as well). RU Injections is an option you can turn on in the Skirmish menu somewhere. This pretty much makes it so that every x minutes you recieve y RU without a harvester needed - it makes it far easier for large fleet battles and quick build ups, but also dimishes the whole need for supply and for smaller ships.
