  1. Woo! Work's in the paper!
  2. Haha, sweeeet: http://archive.leasticoulddo.com/strips/20090416.gif @Tofu: I don't get how she's that popular .. sure she sings alright, but to me at least it sounded rather "meh" and I can't fathom how that vid has several million views.
  3. Yeah, there were a few faults with the logic - but it finished on a better note than the "meet up with present earth and get nuked by us because the cylons were already here" idea they had. Also, there's at least one more movie called Razor set between seasons ... ahh ... when the Galactica meets up Pegasus, but after they live on New Caprica. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
  4. Just finished watching Battlestar Galactica yesterday. Great show, sad to see it go. The end was interesting, I really had hoped they'd run into an earth that had tech similar to theirs, maybe even resurection for humans, and had something to do with a lot of the mysteries going around (ie. Cara Thrace's Jesus like moment of dying, being brought back to lead them on etc.). However, I kind of liked the way it ended as well, with the mystery surrounding character's destiny's, what happened to Cara, and what was with the Gias and Number 6 that "were meant to be figments but were really angels" and then those two walking around modern earth.
  5. Wookie Collection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPENzKOmOl0 And this is pretty cool: http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741

  7. Well Todu is Omnipotent after all Are you cooking some lunch at school Mad? Can't quiet figure out what the pic shows. And now back to completely random randomess http://modvespa.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/gumtree-scammer.jpg
  8. Wait, wat? (Not a typo, 'wat' refers to a certain motivational poster with that as a responce, rather weird I may post it up though) You hear giant blue penis and you get intrigued? Is there something we should know Mad? It IS a good movie, I'd say 3 stars for those who don't know the comic, porbably 4-5 for those who do. Every character is realistic in the sense they're all flawed and not your typical super heroes. Also, they have their own views on how to deal justice. Honestly, it would be a fanatastic movie to analyise. A few pointers about the movie, are a long and wieving plot line that really gives you no chance for rest during the course of the 2 and half hours. There's a lot of subtleties, but overall I didn't leave the movie with a sense of wow - I guess mainly because there wasn't a major plot twist in the end. You will find yourself following a conspiracy and then jumping to the intrdocution and history of several new characters and developments only to go back to the conspircay thinking "oh yeah, i'd forgotten about this". I think some of the plot lines worked in the comics, though the adaptation to a lengthy movie didn't come across perfectly. Finally a soft core porn sequence as well, always good to know a head of time
  9. Mitth! Welcome back mate! It sure has been a while, jump into Off Topic so we can interrogate ... I mean ask you some questions .
  10. Don't know which is more awesome, that or this: This one, I'd put under nsfw if you just decide to watch it, involves a lady getting undressed ... by an excavator EDIT: Afew more coolies
  11. Good movie, just one warning: Giant, blue penis. That is all

  13. Shamelessly ripped off from another forum, a series of fliers/posters that are being stuck up around. Mods: if the pics are annoying, feel free to edit my post and change them to links. http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/3481/image1r.jpg http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/7943/image2w.jpg http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/9082/image3tjb.jpg http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/5285/image4i.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/1727/image5h.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/7144/image6x.jpg http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/1440/image7r.jpg http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9145/image8v.jpg http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1898/image9ucf.jpg http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/9092/image10m.jpg http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/9749/image11rid.jpg <-Use your browser's zoom to read this one http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/2000/image12i.jpg And following that tradition (but not by the same guy) http://www.photobasement.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/awesomecat.jpg
  14. Sounds pretty awesome Tofu! I'd have liked to see Spamalot too when it was out over here, though theatre isn't my forté so I foolishly skipped it. As for your last year wishes ... come on! I'm way too lazy to browse back and look at those
  15. Had the traitor one this weekend, wasn't too bad. But never seemed to get anywhere until the end, and then the plot sort of just stopped and ended it with talk of a massive battle with the Repulic under gunned for once. I wanted to see what happened so I jumped forward a week to see the next episode ... which has nothing to do with the traitor one It was that stupid blue virus, one of the worst episodes yet. Not only was it boring and stupid it was also ... no wait, that's about it. Boring and stupid.
  16. Hapy birthday Tofu - a bit late, but better than never
  17. For the love of ... another fire, I didn't mention it but not last weekend but the weekend before there was a large fire a kilometer from home, now there's another one about 3-4. So far things seem alright.
  18. I am now! A bit NWS there E I wont be able to type to much today I ... ahhh ... somehow managed to fill my left hand with splinters I think I've depresssed this thread enough for one week
  19. Thanks Tofu, and everyone else for the support. Tex had the right idea if you want to donate to go to the red cross. Again, thanks for your support guys - i'll pop on tomorrow if I get a chance
  20. Here yoy go mate, take look over yonder. Give that a shot, if you have troubles with it feel free to post away and we'll help where possible
  21. I'm still fine, and there's no immediate threat to myself - but thanks for your thoughts. The fires are expected to burn for the rest of the week if not more ... and the reports coming out are just scarey, it's like hell unleashed. 135 comfirmed dead with people saying it will go over 200. Seeing the aftermath .. no words describe it, brick houses burnt to the ground, cars burnt out with puddles of metal under them. The instense fires, reaching 35 metres in the air, produced enough radiant heat to kill you from 130 metres away. Someone reported that the paint used to line the roads was on fire. A reporter who lived in one region devestated: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article5687191.ece A collection of on going articles on it: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/indepth/0,,5018723,00.html http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/02/bushfires_in_victoria_australi.html
  22. Yeah, I'm fine. The closest fire got within 3-4 kms from home, which was a bit un-nerving wondering if the wind would change and send it up a hill it was burnnig at the base of and straight at us. There was another, smaller one, about 2 kms in the opposite direction, but it seemed to be the least threatening. The weather has changed for the better for inner and coastal victoria, cool change and the occational shower so I'm not too woried for my house and family today. Further out, things are still really bad with massive blazes burning in roughly 9 places with countless smaller ones (my brother's working on a program that takes the CFA and DSE (fire fighting units) website's RSS feed and throws down the fire locations on a map, and it was mind numbing to see the state covered in markers). Some of the greatest problems yesterday were the gale force winds that were fanning these massive blazes. There was some footage on the news of a grass fire front racing up a hill faster than you could hope to run - that was scary to watch, the idea that if you'd decided to stay and fight that there was little to do, and little to help yourself if you were in the way. Another clip was a of a bloke who parked on the side of the road to walk 10 metres to talk to a camera crew only to turn around and see the fire which was no-where in site before except for the smoke jumping the road 10-20 metres behind his car. He foolishly ran back for the car, and got away alright. He was lucky, so far there's a comfirmed 35 dead from the fires, including a family of 6 found in what remains of their car We've got a rough plan for fires here, but without a water tank and a pump there's only so much you can do. Our property is at the bottom of a valley with a creek, so it's in a good place for fire protection. But, we also back onto a national park, so there's a lot of plant life in there that would create a massive blaze. Yesterday, short of putting out embers there'd have been nothing we could have done for our house. We were protected from a lot of the wind, so there's a chance the ferrocity of the fire wouldn't have gotten to us, but with the ambient temperature being 42 out my back door, and upto almost 48 further north, trying to fight a fire would still be damned near impossible. I have no idea how the CFA (Country Fire Authority) managed to work yesterday, I know in a few cases large fronts could only be water bombed even though the terrain was flat and open (grass fire only) it was just too hot. EDIT: 65 dead now. God, what a way to die. One of the worst they've shown was a group of cars that piled up due to the dense smoke and before they got out the their cars the fire engulfed them. Turning into a really shitty weekend. Haven't heard of anyone I know losing a house yet, though there's a friend of my mum's, who's daughter's house was in the fire line. I think they said 600+ houses are destroyed and the fires are still going, and will go for a lot longer. At least a week. I heard one station say that there was an 80km wide fire front. I drove down the road today to have a quick look at where that fire I was worried about got to. Scared the shit out of me, a hell of a lot closer than I thought. The firies managed to save a house in threat (I honestly don't know how, everywhere around the house is burnt) and stop it a little bit after that. I burnt to the highway edge and over the train lines. Less than 100 metres more in the direction it was going and it would have hit dense nation park lands and then it would have been lost. Back in '97 the fires hit that national park and it was massive - weather wasn't anywhere near as bad as it was yesterday either, and they had a lot more fire fighters from around the state to work on it. Can't say how lucky we are that they stopped it in time. Haven't had time to go look at the other fire, and not too sure I will. Damn, every time a helicopter flies over head I run over to the window and start smelling the air. EDIT: 66 comfirmed dead, as many in hospital with burns, 20 critical and 3 that the doctors have pretty much said aren't making it. One bloke on the news said how his 5000 gallon water tank had all the water boil and evaporate as the fire front approached kiling his fire defences. I missed whether or not his house went up. EDIT: 76 dead now, just seems to be getting worse and worse like some terrible nightmare http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,25024876-661,00.html
  23. ...Awesome..just what I needed, another way to waste my money
  24. That guy died on my birthday! He's just another fallen hero, the dark poet. If you haven't heard of him before Tofu, I recommend that you listen to some of his stuff. It's quiet good and still relevant today. He's been compared to the late George Carlin during his day for the way he did his comedy and for his point of view that he put across. He didn't really agree with that view, but didn't seem to mind it either. Look on Youtube for some of his stuff - his live show in England was recorded and at least use to be on youtube in parts. Revelations, I think it was called. I should point out a lot people seem to get offended, and he can be "off colour" with his humour. I say grow up and learn what a joke and point of view is http://www.billhicks.com is also a starting place. On a different note, what a crap day. Got to 46.4 in the city and a top of 47.9 (118.2) in the state. But, the fires have been the worst, there's a lot burning and my dad and i have been trying to brave the heat just to patrol once or twice. We've been lucky, further out east from us there's a massive blaze going, weather radar is picking up the smoke from the main fire as clouds. Sigh, the joys of living in the bush. EDIT: Not sure how long this'll last:http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR022.loop.shtml Usually that shows clouds and rain ... today that's smoke. Still version :http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/1204/smokeovervictoria2009nc3.th.gif
