  1. Well, that's convenient. There have been several times where I just frowned during a Weird Al "Polka" when there was a reference to an obscure song. The "Rat in a cage" was one.
  2. Ah, that's the line you're referring to! I always kinda wondered where that one came from...
  3. Oh, ha-ha. Fine, be that way. I didn't want to play anyway. You've got to admit, seeing a ship listing for major engagements would be pretty cool. I like knowing what forces each side has arrayed against each other, and Rebellion gives me a chance to 'relive' the battles. Okay, not exactly the same way, but it does allow me to create a fleet named "Solo Command" and stock it with ships that are as close to what's in the book as possible. {sigh}...I really have too much time on my hands if I'm dreaming this up. Go Trej, go! You're almost there!
  4. Um, Jahled? I'm only 28... ...but I meant "Old Fart in the nicest of ways!
  5. Okay, while seaching the CUSWE I stumbled upon two ship-types that I'd never hear of before. After a quick Google search, I turned up a little info, and thought I should bring them to y'alls attention. Perhaps they'd be candidates for Reloaded? Majestic-class Heavy Cruiser this was one of the new class of starship designs approved for the New Republic Navy, around the time of the formation of the Fifth Battle Group. Measuring 700 meters in length, the Majestic-class saw widespread duty during the Black Fleet Crisis. Equipped with thick armor and heavy-duty shields, it was designed to compare with the Imperial-class Star Destroyer in battle. The Majestic-class was armed with 30 heavy turbolaser cannons, 20 laser cannons, 20 ion cannons, 8 concussion missile tubes, and 4 tractor beam projectors. Each cruiser was manned by 4,050 crewmen and 132 gunners, and could transport up to 640 troops. (SOL, CTD) Sorry, I was unable to locate any kind of pic on this one. Corona-class Frigate this was one of the earliest starship designs approved by the New Republic, although it saw limited production. It is not considered one of the new class of ships produced for the Fifth Battle Group, such as the Sacheen-class escort frigate. Built by Kuat Drive Yards, it was modeled after the KDY Nebulon-B frigate, and was designed to carry up to three squadrons up starfighters into battle. The Corona-class frigate measured 275 meters in length, required a crew of 782 with 56 gunners, and could transport up to 80 troops. They were hyperspace-capable, and were armed with 10 turbolaser cannons, 10 laser cannons, 4 ion cannons, and a pair of tractor beam projectors. (BTS, CTD) http://alliance.galaxy-force.com/warships/pics/anebb2.jpg Anyway, I'd never heard of these two ships before, although I'd seen pictures of the 'Nebulon-B 2' before, and kind of blew them off. But if they've made their way into 'official' EU fiction...maybe there's something to them.
  6. Here's a question: can anyone complete the list below of the complement of the fleet under Han Solo's command? Here's what I have: Mon Delindo – MC80 Mon Karren – MC80 Mon Remonda - MC80b Etherhawk – Marauder Corvette Tevidium - Nebulon-B Voidrunner - Nebulon-B Warder - Nebulon-B Allegiance - ISD1 Crynyd - ISD1 Skyhook - ISD1 Ession Strike - Corellian Corvette Battle Dog - Quasar Fire Indomitable - Majestic-class Cruiser Perhaps we should list those ships that made up Zsinj's forces too?
  7. {Sniff} Y'all see why I just HAD to marry her? I'm so proud... Now to get to work on the Brendan Frazier/Keanu Reeves cards...
  8. No, Aribeth's armor was just the opposite. Her midriff was covered, but her armor showed off her bounteous elven cleavage, her collarbone, and left her neck exposed. You see, guys? I'm working her up to Rebellion. First Neverwinter Nights (strategy & rpg), then Zoo Tycoon (strategy & resource management), and then...
  9. Glad you like 'em, Mask! Hmm...I'll have to check that one out as well.
  10. Just kidding with you, Cain. I didn't read my wife's PM from you, but I sure did check to see who it was from when the e-mail notification arrived. Oh, man! I WISH! I can't get Brass_Bra_Leia to go anywhere near Rebellion. And yes, I'm appreciative of the fact that you sent me my first PM...at least my inbox tends to get a bit more use now...
  11. Um...that's great!...I think... Yeah, I was pretty impressed with it all, too. And having ten galleries to browse through is nice, also.
  12. I should've known you'd be the most exited about the sites' contents, Trej.
  13. WOO... Another site with some sweet pics, including some nice Vong stuff. Perhaps he'd be interested in doing a commission or two for Reloaded?
  14. Y'all, I'd like you to meet Mrs. Texas_Fett, Brass_Bra_Leia. Ain't she cute? Brass_Bra_Leia, love of my life, you already have meet Mask. Now for the rest. BTW, I used a Yahoo! image search for her avatar, not Google. I can see that I'm going to have to teach her some of the HTML and BBCode though... Oh, and Cain? Watch yourself with those PM's...
  15. Ooooooo... Yeah, his guides are great, but I still have problems associating three different-appearing ships as MC80's. For my game, I've replaced the Mon Cal cruiser with the 'winged' MC80 (no change in stats, but using your model), the CC-9600 with the MC80b (again, your model but with slightly improved stats over the MC80), and the Dauntless with the Home One, or as I term it, the MC90. The other thing I wish he had was a guide to the non-Mon Cal ships of the Alliance and the non-Star Destroyer ships of the Empire. Yes, and that tends to fit with the history of characters like Nien Nunb, but as for the ship itself... . At least it's cool-looking, I'll give it that. Unlike that dumb 'Assault Transport' the Empire was given. Or the CC-7700. And I can probably cut some slack to the CC's, given the 'reputation' of Corellian engineering and their extensive (yet oddly enough, invisible) shipyards. But you'd think we would have seen them produce more than just light-stock freighters, corvettes and gunships, especially given Corellia's importance in the early stages of the Rebellion. That still leaves the Dauntless and the Bulwark, though, although based off its looks and description, it could be implied that the Dauntless is of Mon Cal design.
  16. Yes, Evanders most certainly IS. Y'all have to pardon my post yesterday. I don't quite know what I was smoking, but whatever it is, it ain't helping my sore throat, headache, and cough. I remembered the MC40 being in TIE Fighter, which predates Rebellion, but by 'MC90' I was referring to my own designation for the 'Home One'/Independance ship from RotJ (Woulda been nice if I'd shared that little bit of info with y'all, wouldn't it?). Yes, I know the general concensus is that all of the Mon Cals at Endor were simply MC80 variants, but let's be real about it: a ship the size of 'Home One' is a whole different class of vessel. And then there's the whole 'winged' and 'wingless' MC80 arguement. However, I also agree with igorimp regarding the Bulwark. There shouldn't have been a ship to 'match' the Executor-class Star Destroyer. Perhaps the closest the Rebels should have come is the Dauntless, although I would have put the 'Home One' vessel in its place and replaced the Bulwark with the Dauntless. Overall, what I think my arguement was trying to say yesterday was that there are two overriding themes regarding the ship-types of the Empire and the Rebellion. The Empire has the wedge-shaped Star Destroyers that are not only fearsome in combat, but bring a psychological edge with them into battle. The Rebels have the 'natural', smooth-looking designs of the Mon Cals for their frontline warships, with smaller designs (Corvettes, Neb-B's) thrown in. The ship designs chosen for Rebellion, specifically for the Rebels late in the game, don't fit that theme. A side benefit of this 'theme' to the Rebels/New Republic fleets was that it was difficult for the Empire to distinguish between ships, allowing the Rebels to better camouflage their abilities. I also really believe that the developers missed a chance to more closely represent the Galaxy Civil War by not including the option to capture vessels. The Rebels didn't have the capability to produce large-scale vessels on their own, especially not the likes of the Bulwark, the CC-9600, or even the Dauntless (unless I'm missing something where the Dauntless is supposed to be a Mon Cal design). They were reliant upon captured vessels or those whose crews defected. Granted, Rebellion isn't supposed to be "Star Wars Canon Simulator", and they did the best they could for the time, but still... Anyway, I hope that clears up a bit of what I (hope I) meant yesterday.
  17. The Liberator-class cruiser, the CC-7700, the CC-9600, the Bulwark Battlecruiser, the Dauntless-class cruiser...just where the heck did these things come from? Now, I realize that Rebellion is a game of balance, and these ships were the designers' attempt to maintain that delicate state. That said, why did they ever decide to create five ships out of whole cloth rather than rely upon documented canon and/or EU ships? The CC-7700 I can somewhat understand, since it's the counterpart to the Interdictor, and while not canon, it solves the problem of the Rebels only having captured Interdictors in their fleet. But the rest? The Marauder corvette, the MC40a, the MC80b, the MC90, the Viscount Star Defender (okay...this one I understand, being that it only recently made an appearance. GL, you're off the hook on that one...). Each of these would have been a better choice. The reason for my rant here is that I just read an excellent piece of fanfic off the Downtime site, ("Commencement" by Katie Zajdel) and after complimenting her I noted that she never stated what type of ship her characters were stationed on. She said it was a Dauntless cruiser. Since her story takes place shortly after Yavin, I was going to point out that the Dauntless wasn't even in production then, but there's no information on the Dauntless cruiser to back me up! Even after checking the CUSWE, the only info out there on it and the other four ships is taken directly from the encyclopedia entries in Rebellion! So anyway, that's my beef. Why come up with these ships at all when there are better 'canon' substitutes, and since they went into the effort of including them, why not flesh them out with some more description? I mean, aside from the CC-9600 frigate (a completely pointless ship, IMHO, given that it's virtually the same as the Assault frigate), they're all realtively cool ships, but I just wish there was more documentation about them. Okay...{ahem}. [/rant] Oh, and if anyone actually DOES have info on the Dauntless, please pass it on.
  18. Hmm...it baffles me to think that Lucasarts didn't attempt to make more out of these two pilots and their associated histories. I mean, Kyle Katarn is all but canon now, as is Dash Rendar. But here you have two ace pilots (no Azameen pun intended) that would serve as excellent rivals, a shadowy organization within the Empire in the "Prophets", and a chance to expand on the role of the "Emperor's Hands". The fact that the two of them are mere footnotes in the EU is...well...shameful, IMHO. Thanks for the info, Mask, and I look forward to that e-mail!
  19. Yeah, she might just go for that.
  20. Did a bit of digging online, having never read 'The Farlander Papers' or 'The Stele Chronicles', and came across this site listed in the forums at TFN. Now, I'm not sure if it's complete, but it appears to have a recounting of 'The Farlander Papers' (anybody know Japanese? The last 4 of 5 pages is in English, though). This brings me to the point of this topic. I was searching for images/info on Keyan Farlander and Maarek Stele for use as cards, and while there is a significant lack of suitable pics of the two of them, the only concrete information I've found is in the CUSWE. While this info is most suitable for a card, it has left me wondering about the 'history' of Maarek Stele, being that I never played TIE Fighter. Among my questions: *Just when did these "Dark Side Prophets" enter into the picture, and how is it that Maarek Stele is a member of them? *I've seen conflicting statements claiming that Stele is an Emperor's Hand on top of being an unrivaled pilot, Force Adept, etc. Is this true? Anyway, any clarification anyone can give me, or better yet, a means of getting ahold of (or summarizing) 'The Stele Chronicles' and/or a complete version of 'The Farlander Papers' would be much appreciated. Also, I was a bit hesitant as to where to put this post, so if it's deemed to be inappropriate for this section, I'll gladly move it to the 'Rebed-Cards' section. Thanks!
  21. {checks lenses & settings inside my Mandalorian helmet for a malfunction} ... {Reads the thread again} ... Oh, THAT! Got it! I guess I was thinking of a specific conversation in which giving fighter's turbolasers was mentioned.
  22. Given enough 'adult beverages' I'm sure you'd promise to dance for ANYONE, right?
  23. Hmm...{Scanning the 'Mechanics - inside Rebellion' thread}...nope, nada. Ah, well. It's no big deal, really. Just a hypothetical. Thank you, Mask my friend!
  24. She tends to groan whenever I suggest that I might need her assistance with Rebellion. She might be persuaded to help, but calling her "fluffy" won't help. At all. And just might get me killed.
  25. Well yes, in theory, except that if it's day 300 then the Rebel player would be better served (and more likely to be) building Nebulon-B's. Comparable cost, much improved performance, two starfighter squadrons...building Bulk Cruisers just doesn't make sense. Now say those 8 Impstars jump in-system to encounter 12 Neb-B's with full starfighter complements on top of the massive starfighter garrison guarding the shipyards...not a pretty picture. But your scenario IS possible...just not likely against a human opponent, especially one who is a veteran of the game.
