Cameron Diaz as a "Woo-Yay" gif...now THAT'S what I'm talkin' 'bout! But Jahled my friend, as far as this board is concerned, don't underestimate the power of Star Wars niche-game fans in numbers.
-
I can always beg a favor from Mrs. Texas_Fett...
-
Yeppers, Jahled dude! Don't worry, tho...{raises right hand}...I, Texas_Fett, do hereby solemly swear NOT to give "X-Wing Jockey #1" a Texas drawl...unless asked to. All I've seen are screenshots and the rough-cut video Mask had linked in one of the 'Reloaded' forums (the 26 meg one). I was eager to lend a hand, however Mask informed me that the 'Stormtrooper & Rebel commando" bit was already taken (by TK421, I believe). He threw me a bone or two by sending me screenshots of his current movie, and hinting that I could immortalize myself in the 'Reloaded' credits as and X-Wing jock...should I prove myself worthy. {crosses fingers in anticipation}
-
Oooo...is that the video I think it is? All I've seen so far are screenshots! Dibs on the voice for "X-Wing jockey #1"!
-
Heh, heh... ...loses an eye! Heh...

Point conceded. EXACTLY! I kind of assumed that the quality of starfighters was inferred, but thanks for clearing that up. And kudos for noting the Corvettes and Neb-B's.

As was discussed here, I'm also a big advocate of the "Seat of Power" effect. I think another big consideration is the fact that the Imperial Fleet at Endor was ordered only to contain the Rebels, not engage and destroy them. Combined with the cohesion and leadership bestowed upon each and every rank & file crewman by the Emperor, and you had a directive which they could not ignore. Therefore, they didn't engage the Rebels to the level they were capable of, allowing the Rebels a 'head start' in the conflict. In addition, Thrawn mentioned a period of 'confusion' experienced by the Imperials once the Emperor died, suggesting a 'hangover' peroid once the Emperor (involuntarily) relenquished his control over their minds. Referencing the force listing I posted above, I noticed two interesting facts that I think needs bearing out: Now, let's assume that the Emperor still retains his "Seat of Power" effect, and together with his order not to engage the Rebels, his subordinate Admirals, Commanders, flightcrews, gunners, etc. obey wholeheartedly. We can immediately eliminate the usage of the TIE Bombers and Assault Gunboats in the battle, as they are most suited to engaging capital ships. Not wanting anthing to upstage his show, the Emperor would have ensured that they were not used. Secondly, while the Emperor had warning of the Rebel fleet's approach, the Imperial fleet had to hide on the far side of Endor (the Sanctuary Moon, or the planet itself? ). Now, given the sudden-ness of their appearance once the Rebel fleet turned around from the Death Star, I'd be inclined to assume that the Imperials executed a short hyperspace jump to bring them into action (gravity well arguements aside). Therefore, they would have had to disgorge all of their fighter complements, requiring an excessive amount of time in which the Rebel fighters, who were already deployed, to match up in more even numbers and 'even the odds'. And while the Rebel starfighter complement included fighters, they were not above using them in dogfights, unlike the Imperials. Thirdly, when the Rebel fleet moves closer to the Imperial fleet, I'd suggest that the Star Destroyers didn't engage them at full power, for reasons stated above. Volleys were exchanged, to be sure, but that would explain why so few Rebel capital ships were damaged/destroyed in ship-to-ship engagements. Mix in a healty portion of "The Good Guys must ALWAYS win", a helping of "Arvel Crynyd", and the loss of a communications ship and the Executor, and viola! One massive Imperial defeat at Endor! Lesson learned: if Thrawn had been in charge, the outcome would have been COMPLETELY reversed, IMHO.

Found this on the boards at TFN. It's the 'final' list on the last page, and while comprehensive and impressively researched, it still requires a bit of polish. Oh, and yes, I know a lot of the following are absent from RotJ, but this is more of a compilation of information from a variety of Canon and EU sources. Anyway...thought I'd share. Everything below this is shamelessly "copied & pasted" from TFN. Well, except for a smiley, the bold and italics for ease of reading. Head...hurts... Yeah, yeah...patience. How long will that take? I remember that episode! When he's trying to teach Terri 'ow ta spake A'stralian on their way to the doctors. Too funny! Ready class? Jaws forward..."You are the Diet Coke of Eee-ville."..."One meeeel-ion dollars". Ah, ha! The plot thickens... Actually, it's the bride's traditional responsibility to buy and decorate the groom's cake, usually with whatever hobby/interest her future husband has. I just happened to have a Boba Fett cake. Also, when her father gave her away at the altar, he shook my hand and gave me a small, plastic Boba Fett as a joke. Prithee, what dost thou mean? Forsooth (Fivesooth, even)! My tenuous grasp upon yon Olde English shouldst be nary an impediment for one such as thee, oh prestigous purveyor of Rebellion goodness. He deliberately did that...to a Fosters?!? Oh, it's ON now...that's an unforgivable sin: ALCOHOL ABUSE!! Hey, Zoot! You DO know cats go great on fajitas, right? Here, kitty, kitty, kitty...come to the nice bounty hunter...how 'bout a nice "thermo-detonator" kitty snack? Well, I definitely had to cut back on the volume I was drinking. It really helped me drop the weight, that's for sure. I know. Did you see the two of them at the Oscars? They'd be a fantastic duo. Why they haven't done more work together I don't know. It's a loss to society as a whole. Yes, visual first impressions can really clue you in to a person's attitude and personality. But I've had more misunderstandings with people, including my own father, via e-mail. And then, of course, there are the 'flame wars' that erupt on message boards... By 'police investigations' I was referring to my statement about not being able to assume anything about the the person on the other end of an e-mail, etc. That includes age, gender, and intentions; i.e., whether or not it's an undercover cop on a internet sting. By stating that I don't have any investigations targetting me, I was saying that I'm not into that kind of stuff, and that my 'misunderstandings' center around typos, grammatical errors, tone of the message and language barriers. Clear as mud, right? It was funny when I thought it up. Really. Ahem. I can agree with that...just don't knock "Survivor". Actually, the funniest thing was when my son noted that Aragorn "never went potty" in the movies, so that meant that he didn't have to, either. Yeah. That lasted. No, they can't truly tell the difference, but you'd be surprised. Kids his age tend to see things in black & white, good guys & bad guys. It simplifies some discussions (Bush = good guy, Kerry = bad guy; whoops! No politics, right? ) and complicates others (Aragorn kills bad guys with his sword, right daddy?). {sigh} The joys of parenting.

That too. They also increase the detection rating of the troops garissoned there. Allegedly, Commanders do the same for Starfighters, but . I DO know they dramatically increase their response time in tactical, as well as their survivability. Admirals supposedly increase the detection rating for capital ships as well as their response time in combat (I don't know about any of the other attributes). Generals are, by far, the most useful "Command" rank, given all the bonuses they 'theoretically' bestow upon Assaults, Bombardments, Detection Ratings, etc. But then again, I'm basing this all off the strategy guide and a modicum of personal experience, so...take it as you will.
-
This is kind of related, but I've never noticed a system-bound commander having much of an affect on the performance of starfighter garissons when compared to the same character giving his orders from an orbiting capital ship. Same goes for a General in a fleet when you order a planetary bombardment (the manual and strategy guide claim this increases the effectiveness of the bombardment, but all I've noticed is that it reduces the chance of civilian casualties). But back to the subject at hand: I've never heard either of the "eject" lines before!

I had mine show up on Hoth once, in a multiplayer LAN game with Valkir. I laughed, and he must have assumed something, since he showed up around day 30 with a fleet of SD's. That was a short game, if I recall correctly.

I'm glad the link worked for ya, Jahled.

We may have inadvertantly stumbled upon a clue as to ZOOT's location and support structure, though. You'll notice that the video is based in the UK...
-
Lo, I have ecountered...THE ZOOT AND HIS STORMTROOPERS!! http://www.rathergood.com/laibach/ Be afraid...very afraid.

Yeah, laugh it up, y'all. Us Mandalorians will have our revenge. BTW, you have no idea how long it took to convince GL and Mr. McQuarrie to abandon that concept...of course, they didn't go for the Stetson hat and southern drawl, either. You see, the line should have been: "Now hold up thar, Vader...'e ain't worth squat to me if he ain't kickin'".
-
That works to a point. I've had my 'prison fleet' arrive in-system after crossing the known galaxy only to have a prisoner escape as soon as the fleet drops out of hyperspace. So it appears that the AI does, indeed, allow them a chance to escape, but it delays it until they are actually able to do it. Of course, it's easy to recover escaped prisoners; just look at the nearest enemy planet from the point of escape. That's where they went! (incidentally, this tactic works the same for retreating enemy fleets that you want to track down) I've been able to capture the escapee with the same prison fleet by beating them to their destination and waiting for them to arrive.
-
Yeah, but Mask and the others sometimes drop us a bone or two to keep our appetites whetted. Personally, I'm so busy play-testing my version and comparing notes with one of my buddies that I don't really get a chance to sit and enjoy the game itself very much. I really need to, if for nothing else than provide material to get this forum up and going again. Hmm... BTW, congratulations on your promotion, sir!
-
Very well, consider it done. Uber will now be Ueber...although I'm at a loss at to when I'd need 'ae' or 'oe'. Fine, keep your secrets. I didn't want to know, anyway. {sniff} Yeah, Steve's pretty easy to do. I've never tried a Dr. Evil, though. I may have to expand my repertoire. So, do you use that moniker on other boards, or is your supervisor a fan of Rebellion? BTW, I only wear the armor for special occasions...like my wedding. Just kidding...although I DID have a Boba Fett grooms cake at the reception. Ah, so all this is really just a means to keep in practice, huh? So I guess I should start throwing big words into our conversations, just to keep you on your toes? Okay, I read through a few of the threads involving Zoot. I still don't get it. He's an alter-ego of Jahled, isn't he? The whole "vanishing Star Wars memorabilia" thing was kind of amusing, though. One of my buddies used to say that to me whenever I'd drink a Pepsi. It had gotten to the point that I was drinking, like, 6-8 of them a day during work (quite the expensive habit, especially when you're buying them from the soda machine in the break room). Of course, he's a Coke drinker... Robin Williams is the Bob Hope of this generation. The man is a friggin' genius. I've learned that you can never really assume anything about the person on the other side of the e-mail/post/instant message. Not that I have any police investigations targetting me, or anything. Yeah, I've seen some stuff on TV that surprises me. I don't have cable (don't want to spend THAT much time in front of "the Boob-Tube"), but I have had it in the past and/or seen things on it when at my in-laws. Freaky. I completely agree. My three-year-old caught sight of me playing The Two Towers on my Playstation 2, and now mimics Aragorn's moves on his stuffed animals. So now I won't let him watch the movies, or see me play Return of the King. My wife and I also play Baldur's Gate II on the Playstation 2 occasionally, but we wait until the boys are asleep first, so that they don't see all the gore. Avoiding the subject won't shield them from it, though, so when they DO see it, we just take the time to explain the differences between the 'game' or the 'movie' and the real world. Although, it HAS helped when we've told him, "But Aragorn eats his vegetables."
-
I prefer to think of it as everyone here is too busy modifying Rebellion to actually play. I have a feeling that once Reloaded is released and everyone gets a chance to play it, we'll see some more stories in here. Although, part of the problem is that everyone is running such heavily modified versions of Rebellion which may or may not be similar to anyone elses, which makes telling stories about what happens in-game rather difficult without a lengthy introduction listing your changes.
-
Whoops! My bad...I thought it was something that's been out for awhile.
-
I don't get, what you mean with if he allows, but I now remember something about your revised version of the patch, I'll mail ya about it. This patch also allows you to use new movies and music for Rebellion, without having to somehow make a new CD image with those new files. Hey, that sounds like just the thing I need! What's the filesize on it?

"Hardwired" capital ship slots and funky card load
Texas_Fett replied to Texas_Fett's topic in Rebellion Editing
Yeah, you'd mentioned that. Don't get me wrong; it's great news, especially when you have large batches of 'em to replace. I'm just saying that for individual replacements it's almost easier to do it manually, since you have to search through the .dll in ResHack to find the entry anyway. Hmm...maybe I should just take the time to come up with a list of the entry number in the Ency and Textextra .dll's for each system, sector, ship, troop, fighter, spec force, and defense in the game. Then, at least, it'd be easier for everyone to reference it later. Not only that, it'd make posting a 'loader' script for people to use that much easier. -
"Hardwired" capital ship slots and funky card load
Texas_Fett replied to Texas_Fett's topic in Rebellion Editing
Yeah, that works too. Although it's almost more work to keep track of which entry it replaces than to just do it manually. Or am I missing something and just making things more complicated than they need to be?
