  1. With easy now I meant, that you shouldn't give up so fast Have you read through my second modelling tutorial (on my site, link's below) ? There's another method described there, that might be more appealing to you
  2. Woa, easy now. You can also select several faces, that make up a hull plate for example and apply a texture to that. Give it a try
  3. Oh dear, I've been there dude, don't worry As Jahled said, there's always another uni
  4. Mad, that as well, but it was based on the name of that movie. Have only read about it so far, but it is said to already have enough references to his later movies. Hoobastank - what happened to us
  5. Yep, the last I read about the Viscount was, that it took part in defending Coruscant against the Vong invasion. I take it, that it's not in the last NJO book either ?
  6. Although I don't have that much experience with DX, wouldn't the API calls be the same in Visual C++ ? Knowing our lazy pals at Microsith they probably are. So, you could maybe help with some function names, their general use and such, eh ?
  7. I think it's mostly tied to the events. Like, if you lose a big battle against the Empire it will play this slow and sad piece and so on. The other files are the movies, yeah. I got an old version of Smacker on my site with the description on how to implement your own.
  8. et tu, Trejus ? Come on, I need something to occupy my mind besides all these humdrum scripts. Otherwise I'd go completely mad
  9. Ok, I can't see you suffer like this. PM me your email adress and I'll send the converted fca your way, somewhere between when I was supposed to learn for the next exam ...
  10. Adm. Fishface: I tried it yesterday, after I was too sleepy to learn, or in other words: on 0400AM. But for me, it worked. I just imported the fca (Kirk's Enterprise) and exported it again with the Autodesk 3ds exporter. Then I copied the conv3ds tool in that folder, opened a DOS prompt there and typed my usual command: conv3ds -m -v2 "nameofthemodel.3ds" It converted the model without any complaints. Shushoni: well, the answer's almost within your own post then. 1) at least one of the three LOD models doesn't seem to have a material or the right material (wrong name ?) assigned. 2) you didn't resize at least one of the models in 3dsmax/gmax to the right proportions. Most of the time I import ships like the ISD (1.6km) and measure the size of the new one that way.
  11. *hugs Dino* Now if I only lived in the US, then I could take part
  12. Well, EvilleJedi's sitehas some pics of it. Then there are also the original versions from Wizards of the coast which should be either here, or here Good luck !
  13. *banging Admiral Fishface's head some more against the keyboard* darn, why doesn't it work ? Have you chosen any fancy filenames with spaces or something else inside ? If that's the case, write the filename like this "filename with spaces...3ds"
  14. I plan to texture all those, that are not, as well as releasing a model for almost any StarWars ship there is. Savvy ? just takes a little time ...
  15. No no no, save it as 3ds directly in Milkshape. The export plugin has a funny name there and might be easily overlooked. I think it's called 'Autodesk 3ds ...' or something.
  16. That first part somehow reminded me of Mel Brooks' "history of the world - part 1" It's just the long-term thingy, that often quits on me About the moving part: sheesh, just after all these years of working on not having an accent at all and trying to sound like a native, you tell me that Alas, 'twas all in vain ...
  17. Hey, you're alive Welcome back, tovarish. That would really be great, without doubt. Do you consider writing your own engine or to use an existing one ? Hopefully one, that easier to mod and that offers at least 65k colors If we could have that and a tactical interface simmilar to the Homeworld series, that would be just perfect. You'll probably remember, that we used to write down all our thoughts in the Reb2 ideas thread, like being able to ram or capture enemy ships. How we could get away with it ? Hmm, firstly by not making profit with it and secondly by making it clear, that we didn't claim to have invented these ideas or that think we own them ... well, the usual disclaimer
  18. Hmm, what did you select in Milkshape's export options ? Can the models be loaded in Lith ?
  19. As some of you might've already guessed from TF's and Trej's reaction: I've updated my site Have fun with a totally new, handcrafted and textured Mc40a cruiser
  20. I don't recall at the moment, if you had to select all the objects, you wanted to export, or if simply hitting the button would suffice. But you know the saying: give a man a compilation tape and he will dance for a night. Teach him to scratch and he will dance for generations
  21. Pfff, umm ... I think Cain asked me that as well, a few days ago. You need Milkshape 3D and the import plugins from http://www.assimsoft.com, that should enable you load the SFC models. I just tried the old Enterprise, since I'm still in the middle of preparing for my exams
  22. ... really? Boy, you two will be surprised
  23. Umm, guys ... it's on my webpage, under 'Rebellion' Keep on modelling, the more the merrier
  24. Hmm, thissite has a backup of the old SWMA models and their textures. You should give it a try
  25. No dissing, but with ATI it's probably a driver problem, at least most of the time it is. Also I remember, that the MOD could crash sometimes, if you set the effects too high, so how about lowering some of them ? Maybe that'll fix it
