  1. Don't worry, I'll had a similar experience once.
  2. Ana Johnsson - we are
  3. This guy ? Weird Al Yankovich - she never told she was a mime J.B.O. (James Blast Orchestra) is a bavarian cover band, that has reached a certain level of fame in Germany over the years. Also they are among the very few bands, that I've seen in concert.
  4. ... ummm ... Did you assign the bitmap properly to the material or in other words: if you click on the material's name, does it show your bitmap in the left screen ? 512*512 is fine, I do most of mine in that size and Lith won't care about the colors, so that can't be the problem either.
  5. and the file is called something.bat ? Then the icon should change for example and a double-click should start the commands inside it.
  6. Do you have the "command prompt here" tool from the Ms-Powertoys ? Alternatively you can create a text file, with the following line: conv3ds -m -v2 "close.3ds" and rename the file's extension to .bat. Then a double-click on that file should convert the model close.3ds into .x.
  7. Hi, looking good so far. Have you already assigned a material to the selected faces (after unhiding any hidden faces) ? What about the texture file, is there something painted on the areas, that your model’s faces cover ? Did you run the Uvmapping menu beforehand ?
  8. If you have hidden anything, go for unhide all, then: You have to make sure, that the button on the upper right (select by faces), with the triangle on it, is pressed. Then you go to the select menu, choose ’all’ and the faces should all be red now. Then you click on ’Materials’ and go for ’Modify Material’. In that window you click on the name of your material and then on the assign button. The program will ask you, if it should assign the selected faces to that material and after clicking on Ok, you should see a difference in the render window, even if it’s just the black parts of your model, where you haven’t painted the texture by now Btw, only the filename, not the extension, needs to be 8 chars long and Lith 1.3 is what I use as well
  9. Umm, why don'tcha download it from evillejedi's site ?
  10. What do you want to take for the rank symbol ? Perhaps some flashy saberhilt ? As it happens, I have a small collection of these with me
  11. wasn't hip that during the breakdance era ? J.B.O. - gimme dope Joana
  12. Hmm, I've read this at 02:00AM today, so I decided to sleep a bit over it So, lemme see, if I got this right Jahled: you installed the same ship model in two slots, instead of having it in one slot, where both sides can build it ? Then the game will crash, that's right. 'Cause no two models can share the same texture file. But I don't know, how you could forget that, I've written it over and over during the last year EDIT: however, it will work, if you load the model with Lith, rename the texture file, replace the current texture with your renamed one in Lith and save the model there. Then they are two separate textures for the game, even if they are just naming variants
  13. Hi, that question has already been answered a few times throughout the forum. It doesn't mean anything, if RebEd doesn't show the model and crash in the process. Have you tried it ingame instead ?
  14. Hmm, somehow I still think you didn't quite understand what I wrote in my post above
  15. Forgot to comment on this: *sigh*I see myself more as a student and a teacher in equal parts, rather than someone who wants to compete with everyone. And I'm glad for everyone, who will travel on the same road, because it is a chance to learn from one another.
  16. Yup, but I was talking about the freeware alternative 'gmax' and you have to work around a few corners to reach your goal there Graphic program ? As I wrote in my tutorial, whatever you feel comfortable with. It can be Photoshop as much as it can be Ms-Paint
  17. Congrats on hitting the 2k, DJ Hmm, a dark stripe of spam maybe ? LLF, please don't tell me you're serious about the ranks. It took me two years to get there
  18. I know, remember that fruitfly you once sent to liberate my chocolate ? He's a double agent now ...drool... they sure do Krytos, it's more like "Kein Mitleid für die Mehrheit" Mitleid = pity & Mehrheit = majority Hey, just because I'm omniscient doesn't mean I'm perfect
  19. Doh, then it's easy of course These darn exams are robbing me of what little is left of my sanity Don't worry, that's Cain's standard behavior You can also just remain a freelance modeller, like some others
  20. Dito Babylon Zoo - spaceman
  21. No idea what the distortion could be, except from the used palette of your pics and the one in Rebellion. In Lith you can select the material and that will also select the attached faces. Then you select the new material, move them over the right area and assign it to the texture map material.
  22. Yep, keep it up Btw, how did you extract the SSD from that vector game ?
  23. Hmmz, Lith is in my tutorial for a good reason: not everyone has 3dsmax, so I offered a free alternative with gmax. But since you can't export to 3ds there and md3s lose all their texture infos, you'll have to do the texturing 'outside' of gmax. As I wrote, there are several ways to do this and I do not claim this to be the fasted or most efficient method, but then again not everyone can afford max dodododo, if it helps you to see what belongs where, you can also select parts of your model and use the detach (to object) modifier and name the objects like hull, wing, ... That way you can select the objects in Lith and see, which faces belong to them.
  24. That's the spirit and don't worry, it's not hard to work with ya Getting the textures into one map, well I'd create a new material in Lith and assign it a pic, where you put all those textures in (with a graphics prog, of course), that you want to have from the single files. Then you individually assign the faces from each material to the part on the map, where that texture is. You might have to scale the faces to fit, but this is how it will work. After you're done, you can delete the old materials. Btw, I just read your initial post again: be sure to have the permission of Darksaber and the guys at XWAU before you upload their models for the public. Doing this without their knowledge would be rude and they'd surely be disgrunteled.
  25. Huh ? I actually considered that a bonus. I mean, in how many other shooters did you think: if I just had a lightsaber now... ? Hoobastank - the reason
