  1. Well, I suppose it's nice to see that the forums haven't changed too much. This topic seems to be a prime example how SWR users go from having a relatively intelligent conversation about who we are to shouts of corn and what people from the Midwest USA are called... Back to the original point of this thread... I'm in my early twenties still working on my B.A. I am currently unemployed and not attending school, though I'm working on a transfer to a university in Virginia where I hope they'll take my previous work into consideration. I drink a lot--A LOT, especially now, and so have become a regular at one of the local pubs. I try to spend the other two hours of the day doing something productive, but usually end up reading or writing. I have a story or two and a few poems published under a pseudonym (I think I published a poem under my real name). I try to hide my real identity behind four letters, but that hasn't turned out to work out as well as I'd hoped (Scath, Trej, and the other oldies eventually figured out my real name). I'm slowly starting to drink less and perhaps SWR is a way to keep my mind occupied... Officially, I haven't returned to the forums... Um... --waves hand in front of others' faces-- You didn't see SOCL...
  2. And a big Happy Birthday to you, my friend! --again, disappears--
  3. A Grand AKmiral of the BEAK? I don't quite remember authorizing that... Um...technically I'm not back, so keep it on the DL.
  4. Got screwed over by a false accusation which landed me in a hell of a lot of trouble for something I did not do. The university where I both attend and work asked me to "take some time off" while they figured the issue out. Yeah, I didn't take kindly to the administration's position because they had, before truly searching, basically declared me guilty. They basically told me to leave and never come back to work when they asked me to clean out my desk. So I told them, to their faces, to "F*ck off" and marched out (taking the stuff in my desk with me). Since then I've been out of school and out work, living off of reserve money while figuring out how to get this whole scandal cleared and, thus, clear my name. Err...um... Unemployed.
  5. The Seatbelts - Tank !
  6. I know about this, it's just...well...I think it added a subtle hint of something not so black-and-white to Vader...but maybe that's just me....
  7. Funny; I wrote a letter to Timothy Zahn not too long ago and in his reply he detailed that Thrawn had been based off of Rommel, as well as Robert E. Lee, Hannibal Barca, and Alexander. GAT, I would actually be a little disappointed if you got anything else other than Grand Admiral. What I think you should do, though, is not use the Grand Admiral rank used by this site, instead use the alternate one. Check this site out...I wanted to load the Technical Commentaries, but as usual, TFN is down right now (their server goes down, then comes back every few minutes or so). Regardless, that Wikicities site is a great resource and that link I gave you has information based off of Dr. Saxton's site.
  8. The Seatbelts - Gotta Knock A Little Harder
  9. 1000 free posts for every good card. (-500 posts for every bad one) ...don't mind me.
  10. So I think we have need for a forums "avatar police" position.. Hello, Evaders. I've been around for a while...I don't spam too much these days... I actually do sometimes contribute intelligent, if not at least intelligable points to discussions and conversations...
  11. Only one problem I have this scene and that is Vader's mask. If you watch the original trilogy, you'll notice that Vader's mask was not symmetrical (i.e. the two sides had a different look, depending on from which side you were looking). I doubt this was intentional, but it lasted throughout the original movies and more-or-less became a trademark of Vader--no symmetry means someone who is not totally one sided (i.e. not totally evil)...of course, it also means a bad part on the costume designers of the late 1970s, early 1980s. Regardless, for ROTS, they fixed it so it is symmetrical and, well, it just doesn't feel the same...it doesn't feel right. Watch ROTS then watch ANH and you'll get what I mean.
  12. I would...but it seems you have created your own. It seems to be an Imperial-style rank, but with a New Republic name. Great, more confusion for people who do not grasp the true nature of ranks and, therefore, must be BEAKed... Wait...that's good.
  13. The Seatbelts - PAPA Plastic
  14. This is off topic--as usual--but is there is a Venator-class Star Destroyer card now for the game? If there is, I couldn't find it...
  15. I haven't read most of these, but I have read Darksaber and am currently reading Children of the Jedi...perhaps I'm not qualified to vote. Regardless, though, I would have to go with Darksaber. My vote, though, has nothing to do with the story: I can put up with a lot of crap (three of my best friends are Trej, Scath, and Jahled), so I can certainly deal with the superweapon scenario; what I can't deal with, though, is having Jedi Apprentice Trainees in Training flinging a squadron of Star Destroyer across the galaxy and knocking out their hyperdrives in the process, while only losing one person (the fact that Pellaeon--a character I very much like--was commanding the squadron doesn't help their case, either)! Further, I always like to see super star destroyers, but I can not stand seeing one go down in flames because of one damned almost-Jedi apprentice trainee setting off a bomb (the fact that Daala--another character I like more than the Jedi trainees--was made to look stupid a second time for faults not entirely her own pissed me off)! No matter stupid superweapon, Jedi training, Force-using weird-o, or anything else characteristic of Ye Olde EU shows up in the novels, I will not forgive Darksaber for that (despite the fact I enjoyed every other part of the novel).
  16. Actually, the three of you together (Mad, _Thrawn, and Antilliles) sort of reminds me of the old-school spamming trio (Trej, Scath, and I).
  17. Yipee!! Are you here to free the slaves? Are you an angel? You are right, he's very annoying... But again ep I is filled with all sorts of annoying characters. The Obi-Waqn characterization in TPM was also annoying, as was Watto and essentially everyone on Tatooine, and on Naboo for that matter. So essentially everyone was annoying No, more like TPM was annoying. Hey, Trej, nice to see you again, bro. I would have to agree about the special effects being a little much, though it wasn't actually as bad as I think everyone makes it out to be. What I truly disliked was the way the Battle of Coruscant felt as though I was merely watching the next episode of the animated series Clone Wars. That's not to say I dislike the series, I merely wish it hadn't felt so...well...silly. For instance, Grevious--who had been and was later one hell of a bad ass--seemed like a bumbling fool at the beginning. Further, Obi-Wan's line of "Wait, we're better than this; this isn't supposed to happen to us" (something along those lines) felt a little out of place for both Star Wars and Kenobi's character. Further, the out-of-nowhere mention of Qui-Gon Jinn was a little annoying, but then again, it's better than having Qui-Gon Jinn walk through the wall of the Taintive IV and go, "Hey, everybody! I figured out how to haunt the galaxy!" Lastly, Christensen (Anakin) and Portman's (Amidala) acting was, as usually, terrible. In fact, I believe the best scene for the both of them was the scene where Anakin is looking from the Jedi Temple to their apartment and Padme is looking vice versa...it was quite a gripping and sad scene (with perfect music as well), and, best of all, no dialogue for either of them. Oh, and I was a little disappointed by how easily Grevious lost two hands to Kenobi (after, apparently, being able to defeat many Jedi--I am referring to his belt of lightsabers) and then got the shit shot out of his organs. Want to know what made it worse? Kenobi kills a bad-ass general with a BLASTER, and then says, "How uncivilized"!
  18. Thanks for the welcome! And yes, at last, I am the rank that the Imperial Sourcebook says exists as a possibility but no one (except for me) has ever achieved! The same status as a Grand Admiral only not strictly military...OH YE-AH! Oh, good god. _Thrawn and Antilliles (I will still call him by his original, badly-spelled name)...hanging out.... I always thought they looked like Sucrets--you know, the cough-drops--only in different colors. Yeah, that's right, I went there. Check out Reiken the next time you watch Empire and you'll see what I mean. By the way, looking for Rebel Insignia? His Majesty The Grand Imperator of BEAK, Supreme Moff SOCL, has the goods. Always...usually has the goods. By the way, Antilliles, you're a Rebel...you could always be the Rebel equivalent of a Grand Admiral...our very own, Mr. Nine-Dots. [/bEAK-y behaviour]
  19. Hey, Darth_Rob-y, I'm not quite sure if anyone else has made this request, but do you think you could make your avatar just a wee bit smaller?
  20. I believe that Revenge of the Sith more-or-less brought the prequels back to something closer to the glory of the original trilogy. Granted, this was no The Empire Strikes Back, it was certainly a spectacular movie. I wasn't too keen with Palpatine's "Don't let him kill me" plea to Anakin while frying himself against Windu's lightsaber, nor Windu's not-so-pained/real "argh"s. Further, Palpatine's "The Force is strong in you" when talking to a kneeled Anakin sounded too much like a blues singer saying it. Really, though, there weren't too many issues I had with the movie, and all-in-all I found it to be exactly what was needed (i.e. it was VERY sad). I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not a big fan of Jedi, yet I was horrified by the act of treason and mutiny committed by the clonetroopers against their generals. Granted, I do understand Order 66 was put into their "programming" since their beginning, it was still terrible to watch. The attack on the Jedi Temple was another part that really tore at me--yes, I am a softly, I nearly covered my eyes when Anakin walked in to kill the young Padawans (I hate the word "Younglings") thinking Lucas was actually going to show their deaths. Then Anakin's burning and his cry for Padme after becoming fully-suited Vader...though the cry seemed a wee-bit cheesey, it still go the point across. Yes, my review and thoughts are scattered, but overall I enoyed the movie very much; so much, in fact, that I would dare to say it is my second favourite out of all the six (Empire is first).
  21. "Anakin's Dream" from the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack.
  22. Hello, Evaders? Did the insignia image not work out?
  23. I know this may be out in left field, but I really do like the new banner! Kudos go out to whoever made it!
  24. My favourite would have to be on that dreadfully strange show AquaTeen Huner Force where Shake starts to talk about having two hearts because he is from Tatooine and he will be going to the Dagobah system. Funny stuff.
