Why do you say this, Scath? If we are to follow the pattern shown in the ranks of this forum, then the ranks are in the "correct" order. Evidence lies in one of the X-Wing novels were a commander is promoted to captain by the mere reduction of a single code cylinder. Thus, if colonel were in line after commander, then commander should have more code cylinders than colonel. A general statement: for insignia with the same amount of squares (same pattern of such), more code cylinders is lower than less cylinders.

Hey, Scath, I'm not stupid. Midshipman is the "rank"/title of an officer cadet in the Navy. I guess I should have made it clearer: I've decided to attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, USA and join the Navy as an officer. When I say I'll be a midshipman by then, I mean I'll be an officer cadet at the U.S. Naval Academy.

I'm just an odd case, Scath. It's not like I loose a Star Destroyer or anything, but I always end up getting some damage to my fighters or a dinkie little star galleon. Not sure why I get damage when it seems a quick sweep of all the turbolasers would render the enemy fleet dust. . . .

Yes, true. But every time I have a huge fleet against any number of enemy ships (one fighter to sqaudron to an overwelming force), I always get some damage inflicted on me. That's why I said it was rather odd.

I don't know how to, especially with my AOL-sponsored site. Remember, I don't really know anything about websites, so I used the AOL-provided engine to make my site (hence the crappiness). Also, I wouldn't want to put it for download because it's in the process of being written and posted, so the file would change every chance I got to add more to the typed version (the hard-copy is VERY old school: hand-written ). Maybe after I finish the story and type it all up and learn how to, I will. All those reasons contribute to my asking if anyone would be interested in hosting my story/ies. . . . Here's a new game, but it kind of requires you guys to read the story/novella. What you have to do is figure out who the following characters are based off of. I'll give you hint, all the following characters are all based off of at least one STAR WARS. By the way, not all of the characters have been put in the story yet, but just keep them in mind. 1. Sub-Lieutenant Nichols You're probably (or might be) wondering why I have grand admiral(s) in my story. Well, it's not because of STAR WARS, it's because the ranking system is mostly based off of that of World War II Germany's, which had a rank that roughly translates to English as Grand Admiral as the highest rank in their Navy.

Like I said earlier, I'm sure the name Thrawn isn't exactly rare in an entire galaxy full of beings. I'm also quite sure that posing as a colonel named Thrawn wouldn't get anyone's attention because most people didn't know anything about Thrawn (much less the fact that he was a grand admiral). I don't think the name would make much of a difference.
