  1. Hmmm...it just doesn't seem like the fighter is worth putting in the TC. It is costly, lightly armed, and not even known to be mass produced at any time. I would think we would want starfighters that fit in the timeframe, but also are easily recognizable. My vote is no C-Wing.
  2. Masterful, my friend! Very well written!
  3. Gents...here is an interesting article about the current events in Iraq that may be worth reading: http://www.thisislondon.com/news/articles/3453118?source=Evening%20Standard
  4. That's the best part! Never crash your own bike! Cigarette run, huh? I've had that job as well...except I walked to the store...or more like staggered. ~~Untimely staggers toward the local convenience store for cigarettes and more alcohol~~ "Now, where the hell is the door?" slurs Untimely, as he suddenly starts walking to the right and out into the road. Luckily, it's one in the morning, and nobody is driving by at the time....
  5. Trejiuvanat: You've got a good point...I guess the people of the US just assume everyone else will call themselves by their names (like Costa Ricans, Mexicans, Canadians, etc.) but we all are literally Americans! Dinochick: I love the South. Although we just got 6 inches of ice here and up in DC and Baltimore got hit with over two feet of snow... Jahled: I've been in a ditch before...also a gutter, the ground, and various other locations very close to Earth...all for the same reasons you were!
  6. SS, your screen gets corrupted sometimes because Rebellion runs in 256 color mode, and when it tries to switch over to another resolution, it screws up. It happens on my PC sometimes. You could try running on 256 colors for your job (yuck! I can't believe I just recommended running 256 colors!! ) At least it wouldn't have to change resolutions between the two...
  7. OOC: That map is also available in the latest Star Wars Insider (available at newstands now!) Hell, I sound like a commercial! BTW, great job on the Role Play...you and Swarmer are doing great!
  8. But none that has such colorful discussions!
  9. R2 Rocks!! 3PO is too whiny!
  10. Oh, no...here we go again!
  11. I've got several friends from Canada who moved to the US. To tell ya the truth, besides a little difference in the language, we're exactly the same!
  12. Yes, the biggest mistake they could make is to rush to release a sequel. I'd wait a couple more months for a game that really blew me away!
  13. Sanctions are not US imposed, my friend. They are UN imposed. And starving children in Iraq is not anyone's fault but Saddam Hussein's. If he cared anything about his "starving" population, he'd stop building palaces for himself and spend a little money on food and medecine. The United States has offered to give food and medecine to the Iraqi people...I wonder why that's not getting to them??? Please stop viewing Hussein as a "good boy". In case you didn't know, the "Kurds" are Iraqi citizens that are Kurdish ethnicity. Do you know why he gassed them? Because they are fighting for their independence. And does it matter who they are? Nerve gas is against the Geneva Convention, which all law-abiding nations signed to prevent human rights violations. I don't care if it was the Kurds or the Martians. Yes, the US backed Hussein in the Iran-Iraq war. How many hostages from your country did Iran hold under threat of death? We were forced to back the lesser of two evils at the time. And where did you find information that the US supplied NBC weapons to anybody? If we supply weapons to anyone, its conventional only. But where are we getting in this conversation? You feel you need to blame the US and UK for all the problems in the world, and no amount of persuading from me will change your mind. We should probably go back to talking about Star Wars and leave the political agendas behind. Agreed?
  14. I agree stationing military units at airports is useless. That's more a show of force than anything, just trying to make the public feel a little for comfortable. I have to disagree with your last statement, however. The Irish situation is a little different than the Al Qaeda situation. I'm probably going to hear a lot about this, but both sides in the Irish conflict are rational, while Al Qaeda cannot be "bargained" with. What can the world give Al Qaeda that would make them stop killing innocent people? Osama Bin Laden and his organization have no demands...except the destruction of Israel and the US. But, lets say the world goes completely mad and Israel and the US are defeated...do you think they would be content? No. Britain and the other democracies in the world would be their next focus. Since Iraq is aiding Bin Laden and have the same goal of destruction as Bin Laden, they must be dealt with, too. At least the Irish had something to negotiate. We can't just "talk" our way out of this. I wish everyone could see that. I think Bush and Blair aren't getting a fair shake. What would you do if you were the leader of one of the two most powerful nations on Earth and there were people who wanted to kill your citizens just because they were alive? By the way, the world tried to appease Hitler in the 1930s, and look what that did. We can't just stand by and let Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden turn into the next Adolph Hitler.
  15. Yes, it's true the Rebels aren't smart enough to know when they've been defeated...I suppose that's the definition of a rebel, in fact! Still, every great Empire has had it's opposition. As long as its just annoying and not destructive, it's okay. That's what Imperial Stormtroopers and AT-ATs are for!
  16. Yikes! Easy, Pucho! I think Swarmer was referring to Jahled's animation...the movie clip of Vader is very cool! I downloaded it to my own PC for viewing all the time! BTW, how do you get that saber to show up on your messages? I can't get the Img tag to work correctly.
  17. The world would be in so much better shape if we were UN diplomats! Problems wouldn't get solved but LucasArts would be getting $300 billion a month in research grants!
  18. Igor's uncle or Zoot's?
  19. That's a hell of a campaign tactic, isn't it? "Vote for me!" says Saddam on a campaign trip. "Who's he kiddin'? Nobody else is on the ballot, and these troops standing beside me while I vote are making sure I vote for Saddam or they'll kill me!" says Ahkmed, the rural Iraqi farmer. "He killed 40 members of my family with nerve gas, but I'm voting for him...he's just so attractive with his big ass moustache!" coos Esmet, the sheep farmer.
  20. Hehehe...ya gotta love this crew!
  21. You'll never get everyone to agree about anything. That's just a fact of life. I think the proof has already been found, but is being interpreted differently by everybody. That's why some countries are convinced we need to go to war. By definition, all the UN inspectors have to find is one little problem, and Iraq is in "material breach". They have found that in the documentation that Iraq has made missiles that can exceed the 150km range limit. Combine that with intelligence (from several countries, in fact) that Iraq has developed biological weapons produced in "mobile labs", has a nuclear weapons program, has recently had stockpiles of chemical agents, and you have a pretty good case. Now, just take a look at normal Iraqi people...they are forced to vote for Saddam and his political cronies or they are maimed and killed. Saddam has even gassed his own citizens! His people go hungry and do without many of the things we take for granted while Saddam operates many palaces!!! At the very least, Saddam Hussein should be ousted from power, and tried in international courts for human rights violations. Of course, this won't happen without military "persuasion".
  22. I suppose everyone knows by now that I'm a damn proud American (and a Southerner at that!). I've given the Canadians in the crowd a little ribbing in the last few days, but it's all been in fun. Come Olympics time, I'll be cheering on the Canadians just as hard as the Americans! As a matter of fact, I respect most of the countries of the world. There are a few that are a bit hard to get along with, like North Korea, Iran, Iraq, sometimes China, Libya, etc., but we don't have many of those in our little web-world here. As a matter of fact, I think everyone here is from a democracy or republic, aren't they? Long live the members of SWR!!
  23. I'm not so cynical. I think the threats are serious. But I think bin Laden is dead already and the message saying he will become a "martyr" this year is a ruse designed to hide this fact.
  24. At the beginning of either game the Empire starts with at least one system that is military subjugated. It seems that those systems always start with at least one character on them, though, so if they do go into uprising, something can be done. Of course, I always let the Rebels have those systems, by moving all my troops, fighters, etc away. This usually turns a couple of other systems in the sector to the Rebellion, which only serves my purpose of making the game more difficult (therefore, more satisfying when I pummel the Rebels into dust! )
  25. Really? When I did it, the Reb HQ kept showing up. Have you ever tried changing each system in Sumitra, instead of doing it by sector? I think I was able to colonize each system seperately, but I don't think you can change the importance. Also, I remember that quote from Solo, but I have to disagree with it as well. It's never that cut and dry. The Empire would have built a super-weapon, I suppose, but not everyone is going to be Force-sensitive like Luke and get a lucky shot off. Besides, the Rebellion had the plans to the Death Star, while I doubt the Vong could have stolen (received) the plans for any super-weapon. On another note, the Death Star wasn't built specifically to combat the Rebellion. It was built to "Rule by Fear", with entire star systems falling into line under threat of planetary destruction. If the Empire had wanted to build a "Vong-only" super weapon, I think they could have come up with something with less flaws.
