  1. The clone wars would have been cool, but unfortunately Lucas thought that more time would be better spent on the drama of anakin and padme... not to mention jar-jar. Bah! I get tired of the prequel punks myself. The prequels are not even in the same league with the OT. Prettier graphics, yes, but if anyone ever played Unreal and then later played Unreal II they know that: "Prettier graphics do not a good game(or movie) make". As for the link to Rebellion, I don't think that this is deliberately tying to the beginning of Rebellion. Both games are based on the same story, so there will be a lot of circumstantial links there.
  2. Eh? WTH? Stick with the tournament topic please.
  3. Then they should have included the full OT then, shouldn't they?
  4. Cain, I had Piett's ISD and a regular ISD both target a corellian corvette with a tractor beam and the CC disappeared and the textures started blinking in and out for a bit and later when I tried to use a tractor again, the game threw up an exception and crashed.
  5. This data may not have anything referencing it though.
  6. One thing that can possibly be done is to replace the galactic background with a big Star background and enlarge the planets to compensate... we could have a solar system map...
  7. That information is stored for each unit in itself. The Hutt Palace code defines where it can be built.
  8. I have seen some references to the command bar GUI in some of the files. There may be a way to extend them somehow. If nothing else, I wonder if you could have a custom menu pop up when you click on a build button. Kind of like making a build button = "Heavy Corvettes" and then choose what you want from there...
  9. Um, that doesn't work at all, because Ackbar was a slave of Tarkin until after the Battle of Yavin. The Mon Calimari world did not become a member of the Rebellion till after the Battle of Yavin. The A-wing was barely a prototype and was definately not mass-producable until after the Battle of Yavin. Funny how the Rebels can shoot more accurately, have all of these post-Battle of Yavin tech and have a higher tactical space limit than the Imperials. If I didn't know better (um.. actually, I don't), I would say that the game will be stacked toward the Rebels in a large range of methods. Accuracy of ships should not be one, cost of ships yes. You see what I mean?
  10. Another thing to remember here is that if the defender has these factories on the ground, they are losing the money they would have been making if they had built mines instead.
  11. Um, this is a galactic MP 1v1 tournament. What are you talking about here?
  12. It would be better if the defender had to click on a button like the one for dropping troops for an AT-AT. Use a count down timer as well as restricting the clicks if there is already a spawn, etc. This could work out very well. But, the base structures are not clickable I think, only the pads.
  13. Keep your eye open for Xfire support as well as Kali2 support.
  14. You are both ugly, so shut up. The looks are in there for good (until modded), so what about its function?
  15. Wouldn't it be better to put the line in for No (Not sure about the exact XML here)? Look at the Bespin description for the line I am talking about. If you just delete the map reference, it may crash if the enemy tries to attack your ground.
  16. No, the AT-AT can attack the speeders. I had to protect myself from them several times the last campaign I played.
  17. Hmmm, we have a total of 12 initial battles... this is either 4 too many or 4 too few. For a proper elimination tournament we need the battles to start out as a power of 2. As it is right now, we have 12 battles, 6 battles, 3 battles and the final battle having 3 participants? It would take 3 battles to finalize this tournament: AvsB AvsC BvsC The winner would be the one who won both of their engagements. Although if each only wins once.... you stuck again. Are there 8 more people that could commit to the tournament?
  18. This Gameplay>Realism thing get taken way too far IMO. In some ways there has to be a balance, but when the balance is things like making the ISD unable to hit a Correllian Corvette more than 1 out of 100 shots (and that shot being way too little damage for the guns the individual hardpoints are moddelling), you can leave that in the toilet where it was spawned. Like I said, I hope that the demo was slanted in favor of the Rebels since that was the only side we were supposed to play, but I have my doubts.
  19. If you completed the tow cable maneuver, you should have won... except for one issue... I think that the AT-AT death to tow cable isn't complete in the demo. therefore it is just stuck there... so get behind it and finish it off. If you are coming at the at at head on, you deserve what you get.
  20. The firepower you have to levy against an AT-AT should be used on the base... come on people, you have played RTSs before. As for what is in there, each construction building has a garrison unit. You can see it in the tooltip during galactic mode.
  21. Given how small the space maps are, from the demo and the screenshots, the effect covers the entire map and is within canon. The missle deflection is more localized. Probably a bit smaller than the interdictors line of sight.
  22. Trouble is, that we do not have the DS model to work off of. And I really want to see how it is implemented in the game engine first too. I still think that the DS I should be assaultable by ships... not that it would do any good, mind you, but still.
  23. I still think it is wierd that if their design was data driven and moddable that they wouldn't allow for extra units. If they had 50+ models rejected by LA wouldn't they have designed the UI with more than the current limit in mind? Maybe they finalized it after they locked down the unit list, but I don't know.
  24. With the mods to the demo and leaving the planets at thier default setup, you can have over 1000 pop points galaxy wide, given enough planets and upgraded starbases. Now if you have say, only .1 of that, you can bring 100 units to bear on a system where you can keep dropping them until you win. The paltry defenses that you dealt with are nothing compaired to that.
  25. Taking the music files and burning them to a disk for listening outside of the game may be illegal, but am not sure. On the other hand, if you are wanting to modify what you hear in the game, then try this. The music files are in mp3 format, just use one of the extractors to pull them out of the .meg files. If you put them in the data folder in the directory they extracted out into, you should be able to replace all of them with the one you want and just keep the names, for example: If you have 3 mp3s there (there are more, I know) 1.mp3, 2.mp3 and 3.mp3, you can delete 1 and 2 (if you prefer 3) and then copy 3.mp3 twice and correct the names to look like the originals. This should make all of the music in the game the same (although I don't know why someone would want to do this). Now on another note ( ;D hehe, I made a funny), you may be able to take your mp3s and rename them to what is in that folder to have your own playlist. So if you wanted Duel of Fates, you should be able to do that. All this is a wash if there is file length checks in the game, but I don't think there is.
