  1. So far after my vote the totals stand at: Battle for Middle Earth II - 161 Star Wars Empire at War - 259 Very nice.
  2. There has been allot of information to suggest allot of things are being withheld for an expansion (the most likely of which will be the episode V - VI timeframe).
  3. No, he was asking about the space tactical pop cap. It should be set at 20 for Imperials and 25 for Rebels, no chance of changing. The way that he got 100 was by changing the Factions.xml file to allow it.
  4. There will not be a Tie Interceptor in the release version of EAW. Look for this unit in mods like Imperial Assault, Legacy of War, and others. As for the Tie Scout... has anyone noticed the power for it? It is basically a space version of the sighting droids for the rebel artillary. You move them around, they have a decent sight range and speed, very weak attack (games says it is strong against Y-Wings). The special ability is a sensor ping (or whatever it is called), basically it is like using the satellite ability for the US in Generals. You select the special and click on an area of the map and it reveals a section of the fog of war. This is useful for getting a preview of the enemy forces (hopefully the preview you get when jumping in will be gone in the retail), it also will let you leverage the range of your Broadside cruiser. With the Broadside and a few of these, you can pelt the enemy from maximum range and force them to move away from the protection of their space station to engage you.
  5. Wasn't that on the death star?
  6. Anyone remember the screenshots when the individual hardpoints had their own shield and value ratings... what happened to that?
  7. There is some information in the XML files that indicate there is a bit of chance built in. It also treats these battles as separate, unique events.
  8. Your pictures are not showing up, but the link works if you look at the properties. My guess is that it is their rendition of a bulk cruiser or something. In this screenshot it is an objective (see the blue arrows at the top of the screen), so it might not be something that is buildable in the game.
  9. Since we can't mess with the models, the same issue would arise because of the hardpoints issue. The hardpoints are assigned within the modeling program if it is anything like Armada II and until we can import/export the models in the game we are limited as to what we can do. Some people have come up with some ideas to get around this temporarily though.
  10. Hmm, that figures. So basically I could if I copied the Empire faction and called it the ImperialRem? Sheesh.
  11. The vs mode is silent hunter 2 and destroyer command only. If you are looking for a multiplatform game that is naval, look at Dangerous Waters. It is a modern sim though, not WWII. You can pilot a plane, command a surface frigate, or command a few different submarines. The cool thing is that you can do it multiplayer and different people can multi-crew the same vessel. You and a friend can both work together to command a Los Angeles class submarine (think the Dallas on Hunt for Red October) for example.
  12. This does look interesting, but what I found intriguing is the MMO Star Trek someone mentioned there.
  13. Where the heck did that get started anyway?
  14. I have run into problems with enabling retreat myself. What specifically is needed to enable it? I think I have isolated it to the FACTIONS.XML file, but doesn't work for some reason.
  15. The indication from when, and how it was stated, was that any time there is a Death Star in play, the Rebellion can win the game by destroying it.
  16. The missles and bombs go through the shields because of the way these shields work in the SW universe. But then again, there are inconstistencies because there are a few things in SW that indicate that ships also have particle shields to go along with their energy shields. This is a matter of simplicity of design really. You would need to model both shields and have different bars for each and all that jazz.
  17. I like the AT-AT, but for my Other option, I like the Tartan... Of course if this is not restricted to EAW I would change that to the Tie-Defender.
  18. You are probably right nevets, but what I am talking about is the engine being built in such a way as to make it possible for the modders to do so.
  19. I think what we want to do in LOW is do a little scaling to make the SSD work. Once we have the full game, we will see what all we can get away with in that department. We may need to (and it should be possible) to have selection tags on the smaller corvettes and have them be built in groups. Naturally with changes like that we would have to modify the number of fighters in the groups and that has already been done successfully in the demo.
  20. I probably would like to join for EAW at least. I have EAW... on preorder.. Battlefield 2, Silent Hunter 3, Battlefront 1, Rebellion, and most of the C&C games. Plus a whole lot more games too numerous to mention. Some people collect figures, I collect games. I call it collecting because I definately don't have time to play them all... :'(
  21. No, it wouldn't. A movie you watch and have no control or interaction. A simulator is an attempt to put you as close to the real thing as is technologically possible. In the case of Star Wars this means as close to what "real" is portraid as. I think we are a few years from a star wars galactic simulator, and simulators are not big money makers anyway, so .... who knows if it will ever exist, especially with Lucas Arts always being in the middle of it. What we need is for someone to obtain the license from Lucas Arts but use someone else to publish the game. Of course LA will probably never let that happen...
  22. Meh, I think that the best questions we could ask are about the aspect no amount of modding will open to us, multiplayer.
  23. I don't believe it will play a part. It is just like the diplomacy values that are in there but will not be used. These ideas were in there to begin with but didn't make the cut.
  24. In your work with these maps, have you discovered anything that would help you with the ship models? Also, what did you do to be able to modify the maps?
  25. All the better to run from, isnt it, Rebel?
