  1. Delphi, are we doing 5 questions again, or will you entertain more this time?
  2. Debris.
  3. About 23 hours to go.
  4. This is, IMO, the very bare minimum number of planets for that mode. One Rebel, one Imperial and 1 to fight over. Doesn't leave much room for building up Pop Caps and/or credits. I would guess that we wont be able to max out our space or land pop caps in the demo.
  5. Well, the single player campaign should be pretty set, but it will be the most open single player campaign to date I would imagine. The openness you are looking for is the Skirmish or 1vs1 Campaign mode. This is the strong point of this game and Star Wars or no Star Wars, it will be the biggest determining factor of its long term success, IMO.
  6. Any ideas to rectify the pop cap issue with these two images? If anyone has any other images that include the popcap/max in the picture, please link them here.
  7. What is that target icon over Wayland?
  8. That will be at 11:00 AM Central Standard Time (US)
  9. Thanks, alot! This is cool. On the second picture, is the lines to Yavin 4 the trade lanes?
  10. *sigh* sounds slightly boring....... needs more player affecting the game, not set path. You don't think that the single player Campaign should follow a story line?
  11. I am not sure how to vote as I am having 0 issues today. I think I will wait till something messes up again. Edit: Um, less than 2 min after posting this, I got logged out and an error. Voting now.
  12. I see your point about that picture having some abiguity, but if we take a look at this picture: http://images.pexsus.com/show.php?src=games/empireatwar/media/new/activision/8ad47df0c4b86429943a68cae66f7171.jpg we may be able to use them both together to determine a pop value for the ships present as both pictures show the current pop cap used. First, there is one ship that is not showing on the screen, but we can determine that it is a Tartan since the selection circle can be seen very close to the command bar and 2 Tartan Cruisers are shown to be selected but only 1 visible. This gives us present on the map: 1 ISD 1 VSD 2 Acclamators 2 Broadside Cruisers 3 Tartan Cruisers 2 Tie Scout Groups 6 Tie Fighter Groups 4 Tie Bomber Groups 1 Death Star Since the Death Star only uses Galactic pop cap points and not Tactical (ref: Delphi, I think), it and all 12 of the Tie groups are 0 Pop Points here. This leaves 16 of 20 total pop cap points to be split up between the rest. If we use my previous estimates for their values we get: 3=1 ISD @ 3 each 2=1 VSD @ 2 each 2=2 Acclamators @ 1 each 2=2 Broadside Cruisers @ 1 each 3=3 Tartan Cruisers @ 1 each ---------------------------------- 12 Total, which leaves 4 unaccounted for, this would support your guess of 4 pop for the Death Star except for the fact stated above about it being 0 for the tactical pop cap. If we bump the VSD to be 3 each and the acclimators to be 2 each this gives us: 3=1 ISD @ 3 each 3=1 VSD @ 3 each 4=2 Acclamators @ 2 each 2=2 Broadside Cruisers @ 1 each 3=3 Tartan Cruisers @ 1 each ---------------------------------- 15 Total which presents us with a problem as there is 1 pop cap unaccounted for. The other problem here is that the Acclamators can not be 2 each as that would bump the pop cap limit to 21 on the other picture with just what we see on screen. Speaking of the other picture, I think that the assumption that there is an ISD or VSD there is incorrect. The icons we thought were ships a little to the bottom left of the view is only Vader's fighter group. This is supported by the representation of the fighter groups on the screen we are currently analyzing. Thus the 5 dim icons that are farther below and to the left of that should be either 5 Tartans, 5 Broadsides or 5 Acclamators or a combination of all 3 adding up to 5. This gives us the 20 pop limit represented on that screen. I have carefully examined the orientation of the dots on the minimap and the list I presented at the first is complete. Which means we have a conundrum to solve. From what I have discussed, the values are for certain (including what we have been told by the devs): 2=2 Acclamators 2=2 Broadside Cruisers 3=3 Tartan Cruisers 0=2 Tie Scout Groups 0=6 Tie Fighter Groups 0=4 Tie Bomber Groups 0=1 Death Star ------------------------------- 7 total so far, leaving 9 points between: 1 ISD 1 VSD There is something wrong here, because even if we take Delphi's statement that Cap ships are 3 each to mean that the ISD and the VSD are both 3, that leaves 3 unaccounted for. We could find that extra 3 if the Tartan Cruisers were counted at 2 each, but that doesn't make alot of sense. What are your thoughts, people? Oh, by the way, I think that from this picture we can determine the max Tie groups spawnable by each ship... The ISD can spawn 5 total, the VSD can spawn 3 total and the Acclamators can spawn 2 total. Now this may be an incorrect guess because there may be no limit and the ammount present has only to do with the timer on the respawn, but it is the best guess so far.
  13. Impressive.... most impressive.
  14. I was able to log in there before, but I can not now as well.
  15. Naja, I think from a marketing perspective, the fact that it appears a higher number of people want to play Imperial would prompt them to make this Rebel only. If you already have a hook, work on grabbing the rest. Of course, this may have been done simply because the movies (OT) are from the perspective of the Rebellion and they want to lock in the SW fans who aren't necessarily RTS fans.
  16. Hopefully this answer indicates something has been resolved with LEC.
  17. No, someone should teach the 56kers how to use a download manager like FDM . Heh, the idea behind the smaller file sizes is to prevent having to start over in the case of an interruption. Although a download manager would help, they need to make sure it only has 1 active connection as a dialup connection would waist too much packet size otherwise.
  18. Certainly an EAW fan site should be able to be persuaded to host the partial files? Would be a big hit boost and some might like their site and stick around.
  19. Someone should host this thing broken into 50MB pieces for the 56k'ers.
  20. Duh, I knew that. I guess I haven't seen them this up close before.
  21. Then you build capital ships to accompany that squadron, in case of just such an eventuality. Well, the problem is, how do you keep Red Squadron alive long enough to engage the Death Star when every ship in the imperial fleet will be concentrating on killing them? They would have to be nearly invulnerable to survive that or they would have to have an insta attack on the Death Star when they are in the same system. We don't really know the mechanics of how Red Squadron can initiate an attack on the Death Star anyway.
  22. http://www.sw-eaw.de/galerie/org/522.jpg Anyone know what the 2 little droids are?
  23. This is odd. This thread let me vote again (I think, unless I forgot to vote before, but I am pretty sure I did).
  24. In a discussion with Petroglyph, they made the statement that Capital ships would cost 3 pop cap points. If this picture is not from before the pop cap was decided, this means that the ISD and VSD are the only ones that cost 3, as the Acclimator, Broadside, and Tartan, seem to only cost 1 by counting that picture. There are 6 Acclimators 7 Broadsides 2 Tartan Cruisers 5 Tie Bomber Groups 1 Tie Fighter Group 2 Transports 1 Lambda Class Shuttle At least 1 more fighter group or ship since we see vader in the top right and he is not on the screen. From the mini-map it looks like there are some more units to the bottom left of the viewable screen. The Acclimators and Broadsides can only be 1 pop each as either one being 2 pushes the total limit over 20 just between these two. Given the relative size of the Tartan Cruiser, it would be silly for it to be higher than these two, so it must also be 1 pop. This brings the pop limit to 15 on screen. Unless the fighters and bombers can be launched from an Acclimator (which would be unbalancing if the Acclimator is only 1 pop limit), then the units offscreen must be an ISD (3 pop limit) which brings the total pop cap to 18 and that leaves enough for a 2 pop limit VSD. Thus from this we should be able to conclude that the pop cap limit costs are as follows: ISD = 3 VSD = 2 Acclimator, Broadside and Tartan = 1 Tie Bombers, Fighters and Scouts = 0 Transports = 0 This should mean that on the Rebel's side: Mon Cal = 3 Assault Frigate = 2 Neb-B Frigate, Blockade Runner = 1 But since the fighters cost 1 each, the Mon Cal may be 2 and the Assault Frigate may be 2 or 1. Rebel numbers are pure speculation, but we should be able to extrapolate the numbers from other screenshots. The only catch is that we don't know if all of the screenshots of fleets that we have are with the 20 pop cap limit. If the pop cap indicator can not be seen on a screenshot then it should not be used.
  25. Thank you guys. By the way, anyone see that transport on the bottom right? Is this the first time a transport has been seen in a pic since we knew about the 20 limit pop in space?
