  1. Hmm, the AI may not be the final version in this build (or at least I fervently hope so). At any rate, I don't see the single player as anything but practice for what I will be doing with the full version of the game, MP.
  2. There Field commanders, Fleet commanders, and the Rebels have R2-D2 that can repair vehicles. These units were not available in the demo campaign though.
  3. Are we sure about all of this? Because it seems that there is a problem with the interface because if it wont stop the Y-Wing attacks, the shouldn't you be able to target inside it? It doesn't seem like something there is working as envisioned.
  4. Boba Fett was working for the Empire, he should have been AI controlled. This is what Wiking is complaining about. I didn't see him do much until he tried to retreat when the base was almost gone.
  5. One thing that I tested while playing is whether or not damage is carried over, both for the station and for the capital ships. Neither carry over, I took out the hanger bays and shield generators on all 3 and let my forces get crushed (since for some reason, the retreat option was disabled in this battle) and then came back. I guess it makes sense if the space station can produce ships in less than a galactic day, but I wonder if the same thing would happen if there was not a space station. I plan on testing this out after work today. Anyway, if you are having trouble with the space battle, be sure to destroy one completely before working on another if it is apparent that you wont be able to finish off both.
  6. You know what is cool? From some of the internal file definitions, a common win goal is for the last rebel planet to be destroyed by the Death Star ... I guessed pretty good I think.
  7. Another thing I wanted to point out is the time factor for travel. Someone had mentioned this before but I wanted to state it in this thread. The speed of hyperspace is too fast, plus, you can increase the speed of a fleet by having Han in it, which doesn't make sense... the fleet should move as fast as the slowest unit.
  8. The trick to these files is the LUA mixed in with the XML. XML as you know is pure text, but LUA is not as straight forward. I was a bit curious as to whether or not enough information was in the game to unlock other planets or campaigns, but like I mentioned previously, not all of the planets are textured. I will say this though, I think Bespin does not have a ground battle portion due to the fact that I conquered it as soon as my fleet got into orbit, kind of like the Vergesso Asteroids.
  9. Well, their use in the game, is to increase their speed at the cost of firepower. What is nice is that this is toggled and doesn't run out like other abilities.
  10. I don't think so, it gives you more competition against a human player. I think a major part of this is the 1v1 multiplayer and that is the right focus IMO.
  11. I was pretty sure that I wasn't the only one that saw that stuff in there. I played the Demo campaign mode with a starting cash of 400000 instead of the 20000, also, My fleet constisted of 4 Mon Cal Cruisers and I could build the Rebel Strike Frigates from the station on Hoth. I also could jump to other planets in the galaxy (I went to Bespin and built a space station there) but most of them had a default texture, so there was some things left out. When I first messed with the file I modified to do all this, the game crashed, so I made my modifications without changing the file size and got the above to work. I don't know if the file size was the real issue but I had to get some sleep so I didn't mess with this stuff too terribly much.
  12. The buttons on the interface seem to not refresh their tool tip when you leave your mouse over them and something changes... (low on credits, past unit limit, etc). Also, the unit special abilities need to have a tooltip to let you know what the key combination is set to to use it. A couple of issues that poked out at me at first, but will list more as they come across. I like how the fighters dogfight, been playing battlegrounds lately and it is a nice change.
  13. Downloading from where? Many people have the demo now and have gotten it to work successfully.
  14. Well, I guess they had to let us play the galactic mode without giving us enough to keep us from buying the regular game. I dunno. I know this isn't enough to hold me till feb 16th. More waiting and knashing of teeth.
  15. People, if you have a credit card and can spare $1. Try out Fileshack's Mercury service. It is cheap for this month and I was able to get mine downloaded in 25 minutes.
  16. See the info I added to the Fileshack link on Cain's first post. I am getting 470 Kbps right now and it was only $1.00 US to add. Might be worth getting to pull down some other downloads for the cheap month.
  17. Does anyone have gamespot complete? What speeds are you getting there?
  18. a bit, imn getting over 100k. THanks man, lets hope its actually the demo I don't know how, I am getting less than 20k and I have 4Mbps available on my connection...
  19. What is the soonest we can get this done? The forums are getting more unstable and who knows how bad it will be with more people posting after the demo is released.
  20. In other words, will the 5 tutorials in the Demo be the complete tutorial list for the Rebels in the full game?
  21. As I recall, the timer said it would be released at 11am CST by my estimates. So as of this post, that is 3 hours 7 minutes and change.
  22. Doing this is illegal. You are only permitted to make a personal backup copy and are only allowed to have that copy or the original active at once. Having the game installed on two different computers is technically illegal, even if you can only play one or the other with the cd at a time. Always read the EULA completely because they are pretty explicit in describing this.
  23. I don't believe that hardpoint customization is in. The mon cal will all be the same most likely.
  24. Hmmm, that strikes me as a bit odd. And the capturing reinforcement points during space combat is something that I didn't really remember as being in, although I guess it makes sense. It is a good way to keep the defending fleet from turtling around their space station.
  25. Don't bug Delphi about the Demo download. He probably doesn't have anything to do with the server setup and distribution at this point. It has been stated that it should be available around 11AM Central tomorrow, but there is no way that they can guarantee a time. Just watch the official site tomorrow starting 11 Central. Or you can watch here, because I am sure someone will post as soon as it is found.
