Not true, we were calling it Mustafar (or Lok) long before we even knew it was called Shola, because it looked so much like Mustafar, with a little lok thrown in. This picture of what now is almost certainly Shola looks very much like Mustafar: http://www.eaw-fr.com/screen/eaw/133.jpg It has the black rock, the red glow, all the way to the red ash falling. Sure these might be some characteristics of most volcanic worlds, but there are other volcanic worlds not like this such as Lok. And now that EPIII is out, Mustafar is THE Star wars volcanic world. Any casual star wars person would look at this picture and say "hey Mustafar".

Thats what I meant, it is still officially EU, because it is not technically part of the movie, but because George wrote it and it is almost part of the movie it is probably the closest thing to canon next to the movies. I am sure with the new tv series coming out there will be much debate on what is and isn't canon if it is not the movies.
-
and it seems this game will be full of it, considering there are more KOTOR planets then EPIII planets But I disagree. Shadows of the Empire, the Heir to the Empire trilogy, and the the Clone Wars cartoons, should all be generally accepted EU as well.* Problem with KOTOR EU, is that it is not definite, the open endness leads for a lot of different interpretations. * as well as the star wars holiday special

True, but I looked it up myself, no where could I find a planet named Shola. It could be a coincidence that in preproduction they made a planet just like Mustafar, but they wouldn't have been that far in production when they could have gotten some epIII info. The could have taken what they had and just used it for Mustafar. Did you watch EPIII? The CIS mined the lava to use in its manufacturing.

A rip off of Mustafar, look under planets on the EAW site.
-
So in the video they say "many of you may recognize this planet from EPIII, its called Shola and it resembles Mustafar" So really what is the point, why not just call it Mustafar? No one cares about a planet named Shola, we would rather see Mustafar, a planet from the movies. Would be fun to have a rematch between Vader and Obi Wan. Even if they are planning on putting it in an expansion what is the point of having two almost identical planets in the game?

And it's good this way. If the game would be created only for hatrcore RTS gamers it would be dead right from the begining (eg: Earth 2160. Never heared of it? See!) Seems the game is being marketed towards only to those with no RTS experience. I wish they would try to bring a balance between stuff hardcore gamers would like and new ones. No doubt the game will be fun at start, but how long can you go from planet to planet using the same techniques, same units, same heros (who keep coming back), with only the landscapes changing. It needs some sort of complexity to keep you coming back for more than one go through. I think they are trying to baby us to much, don't worry LEC and Petro, we can handle a little bit complexity in strategy games! also the campaign doesn't sound that diverse, the way this video made it sounds, no matter what you do, you end up at the death star with the rebels attacking it. Doesn't sound like you get to change the star wars galaxy that much if you end up at the same point as the movie.

Saw him jump to mod then to admin in one day, and all this without a single post. I think it is just a test handle, but not entirely sure.

I hate how they seem to be dumbing down this game. I want complexity in the game. More and more it is seeming like it could be another star wars RTS flop. Ah well I am still getting it just because I need another star wars strategy games, and I can't wait for the modders to get into this to add complexity (yea I know they are trying to make it more accessible, but they are taking it to the extreme). Edit: the sad thing is, we are the extreme fan-bois saying this, I think if this game is how it is sounding, the average gamer is going to rip into this. I hope I'm wrong, I want an awesome Star Wars strategy game, not just another RTS. and I disagree, as far as star wars gaming goes (with the exception of SWG) most people play imperial. At least that is what I have experienced.

Or a certain Rebel hero that appears on one of the early billboard concepts? http://www.petroden.com/concept_art/sw_concept4.jpg I couldn't see them having ANH game and not have Luke Skywalker.
-
So has anyone else noticed that a certain Chiss is missing from the hero list as well?

I think my Geforce 4400 is pushing it. It will either just make it, or not (I wish they were still saying it would be able to be played on GF3s but doubt that now). I really hate to have to build a whole new computer tho, especially when everything else on my laptop could handle most games perfectly.

I plan to build a cantina on Dagobah.....yep just me and the swamp lizards.

BF 2 was the first game to alienate me and my graphics card, and I hate it for it, still haven't played it.

What will immerse you most into the SW universe? Part II

I mainly am still going with music because it is the only one that has yet to disapoint me somewhat. With ships the timeline disapoints me. No SSDs, interceptors, B-wings, Lancers, Carrack, Dreadnaughts, or Strike crusiers. Planets have really no EPIII planets and no Dathomir. Heroes don't have Yoda (seriously, how can you miss yoda?!?), Bail Organa, Wedge, Biggs (come on, you have porkins and not biggs?), Baron Fel, and the other bounty hunters. Doesn't seem they are staying that true to canon. The creatures. A lore mistake with the rancor and now Selkath's (even tho their planet is in the game). Not saying these categories wont disturb me, just they wont give me the full feeling of controlling the star wars galaxy. Maybe the music playing will even make the broadside feel star warsy. -
I beg to differ, I think this is the best graphics we have seen of the game period. Yea that Anaxes picture doesn't look the best, but the land battles look better than any strategy game I have seen. Looks like a better end graphics card.

With the wealth of new info from the EAW site and from Dephi I have created a new poll on this topic. Planets: now with the official list out some of us have found our favorite planets on it, some are noticibly missing. Ships: The Venator! but other fan favorites are missing such as the SSD, Dreadnaught, and interceptor. Weapons: Death Star, Hypervelocity gun...need I say more? Heros: Not in, yoda is. Music: Not really any new info on this. Staying true to canon: Kind of a debatable topic. The creatures: Twi'leks, Wookiees, lots of fan favorites, even if the Rancor is on Tatooine. For me it is still music, weapons are right behind it tho.
-
That scares me, I have a strong feeling only the top end graphic cards will not play it, not my middle of the road one.
-
Remember that there's a lot of scaling involved in the game meaning that you can zoom really close in and out. Also, in a lot of the screens it's rather hard to tell exactly how close the DS is to other ships. Yea but that picture makes it look kind of rediculous. I want to see a picture of a ISD flying right past it.
-
I was disapointed they didn't have the venator in this bunch, I thought they would be showing it by now. and I don't really care for the Anaxes picture, too much clumping, especially with the death star. The last picture definitely looks like Mustafar, tho I bet it is that Shola planet Other than that they all look beautiful. Edit: and that one picture with th At-At has it so you can see through the larger units to see behind it. Could be useful, I assume it is optional tho.

I think it would be better as a commercial station bringing in income, over a pilot pick up place. Don't think cantinas would be able to finance your empire, but it would sure make more sense then having your fleet full of drunk spacers

NMA Project - Starcraft: Invasion of Char
Nevets replied to Teradyn_pff's topic in The Maw Installation
I'd delete it personally. -
Interesting, Yea I wouldn't want one of those guns falling into enemy guns. The EAW site says it is an imperial weapon, but if the Rebels take over the planet and its still there you should be able to use it. Hmm interesting thing on the pilots, but I would think smugglers would be the ones you would expect to find there. But I also think they could come from the Hutt Palace, but if only one unit can come from each I would think Bounty Hunters would come from there. But then what is the Mercenary Outfitter for?
-
I am still analyzing the lists some on the EAW site and am now thinking about the two topics posted in the title. One is abandoned facilities: - Will this be primarily used by the Rebels since they would eat this stuff up? Will this be what the rebels start off with? - Could be that not every planet is under someones control at start (seems farily likely) and on some planets this is already there for you imp or imperial. Cantinas: -Hmm I wonder what this could be used for? Logic says it would be used to rejuvenate your troops. Could be to keep moral of your troops up as well, but I doubt something like this is in game. Problem with the health thing is that there is already a bacta facility. -I wonder if there is different skins for this on different planets. I can understand the Jabba's palace being used on different planets (except maybe Coruscant) but if they use say the mos eisley cantina on say Hoth, it just would now look right.
