  1. I'd say that the 5500 is next block. Is there any chance you can wait a bit and get either the Radeon 9600 or 9600XT (preferred)?
  2. When I first get it (February 7th) I will play it probably 2 hours or so. That weekend I will play it all day long though.
  3. It would also take time unless you chose before hand which planet they would retreat to. I'd rather just know that the retreat (when attacking) would take them back to the planet from which they came.
  4. But people who have that expectation and play multiplayer are going to be sorely dis-appointed when Imperial players utterly cursh them. That's exactly what I said a few posts up. People are going to want the Rebels to win and so they'll play Rebels. From the videos shown the Rebels have large fleets and own the Imperials (mostly). Early in the game however the Rebels will be mainly trying to conserve their forces and will not be able to come out in battle as often. More than likely you'll have to accept loses early on when playing as the Rebels. Other people won't see that though.
  5. Yeah and you won't believe how many people will probably try to play the Rebels and expect to own and then get slaughtered. Then they'll either complain about balance or whatever. I think that the Rebel fleets we have seen so far may be a bit on the large side, especially for early on in a scenario.
  6. Mind you they have said that you can upgrade units and whatnot, but I thought that those Corvettes did have weird engines.
  7. *celebrates by getting an army of 20 Rebel Artilleries and aims them all at Darth Vader.
  8. Anyone else notice how Darth Vader was getting owned by the Rebel artillery? I also saw an ISD that appeared was hit by an ion bold and there was this blue wash over its hull. The graphics looked nice from my view. I hope that the demo is released within the next three weeks.
  9. Stormtroopers drop from zip lines from the AT-AT and each drop point on ground maps limits how much you can land for an assault force. The more points you capture, the more units you can land. Woot! Luke becomes available later. Also Darth Vader was getting owned by the rebel artillery (sp I know).
  10. Maybe retreat will be back to the planet from which the fleet came. That'd make it nice and simple.
  11. Or a certain Rebel hero that appears on one of the early billboard concepts? http://www.petroden.com/concept_art/sw_concept4.jpg
  12. Ghostly I'm not going to be able to play Civ 4 today. First off I'm sorry. The program is taking me forever and all the time I spent on it yesterday did not really progress me further along. It's my fault and I hope you'll accept my apology. I am working hard on it though. Maybe I'll get done, but I doubt it.
  13. He was referencing facing an Interdictor cruiser and a large fleet of ISD's. You would rather go for the gravity projector dome hardpoints on the interdictor and run (because you can't while they are still there).
  14. That would only work if sides could either share resources or tribute resources. I don't really like to play "specialization" games. I'd rather everyone built up defenses and at least have some military units instead of relegating two people to merely gaining resources.
  15. one....more....user....(only TBS fans would get this)
  16. I just looked at the games list on the website for the convention and there isn't a listing for Star Wars: Empire at War anywhere. Maybe gamespot screwed up? I hope not. http://www.experiencegame.com/
  17. Gamespot is offering live streaming of content from the G.A.M.E convention in San Francisco. http://www.gamespot.com/forums/index.html Empire at War shows at about 11:30am Pacific Standard Time. Edit: I forgot to say that it is on Saturday December 3 @ 11:30am PST.
  18. That first screenshot takes my breath away. With lighting effects this game is going to be gorgeous. The ground combat screens look nice as well.
  19. I voted ships because there have been precious few games that have allowed me to command space battles in the Star Wars universe. So I guess it defaults to the ships because of my love for space fighting.
  20. *sigh Time to do some more tinkering with the EaW super lan version to get it to accept 350 people.
  21. I had a 5200 once. Then I upgraded it to a 5700. After my 5700 died from heat then I got the 9600 Pro. Now I have a 6800GT with my rig I built this past summer.
  22. I know this doesn't have to do with weapons on the ISD, but it does pertain to the ISD. From what I can read into this (this quote is from the military academy http://swempireatwar.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=526), the ISD will be able to make new fighters in the middle of a battle. Is it just me reading it weird or what? Anyway now I'm sure that the hanger bay will be the first hardpoint I hit on ISD's when I play the game just to be safe.
  23. Well you have to keep in mind that technically the Death Star is not in close proximity to the planet (just enough to fire the laser). Other than that it's just the whole scaling thing all over.
  24. Depends on what you like. Question 1: Do you want it to be SW related?
  25. I was playing a game this morning and there was an endless stream of barbarians streaming to my town for some reason. I'd kill of one wave only to have more come. My archer unit defending my capital must have killed 20 barbarian units without losing a single man though.
