  1. well now we're working on a dedicated server set up, so hopefully it will be better. Ghostly is downloading it now and I have already successfully debuted it on my pc, so hopefully we can get larger games going on.
  2. Do you have xfire? If not you should get it and put it in your sig. Then you can IM Ghostly and me and ask to play if we aren't already.

  5. Well this brings a delima. I'm going to present the two "balanced" possibilities. The shield does stop units and weapons, but the generator is outside of the shield radius. The shield does not stop units but does stop weapons from penetrating from the outside, and the generator is on the inside of the shield (True to the SW universe). Since they've already said that the generators will be on the outside of the shield, I'm assuming they are mostly going with the second one (because they said sometimes generators would be in the shield). Which begs the question why even have them if they only have limited use? About the only thing they'd be good for would be to stop initial artillery barrages, but soon enough the shield will get taken down and your very small advantage gone. Like Cain said: "Why would we build them in the first place?"
  6. I was referring to playing games not making "real war." In real war you have underlings to command troops and do things for you whereas in an RTS game you have to do it all yourself. Although it would be cool to have an "attack-move" order for units.
  7. Exactly! There comes a point in making a fleet where you can no longer control your units effectively. Just sending X-dozen ships and moving them to the opposition base is not strategy. I like the pop cap because of the strategy involved with it.
  8. Battlefront 2 online against real people I managed to get this gem of a game (I am not good at FPS games). The quality is bad because I had to alt-tab out and the desktop was messed up. Edit: no pic because something's wrong with geocities or something. Anyway I went 99 points - 56 kills - 18 deaths.
  9. I seriously wonder if Ghostly and I are the only ones who ever come here...
  10. I personally find it a very cool feature to the game. Can't think of another game where you can capture a planet and then recruit forces from that planet to help repel an invasion.
  11. I think you guys are making too big of a fuss about the heroes. There are about 7 per side. With 44 planets and therefore 88 maps then there is less than a 10% chance per map that you'll be facing a hero. Now the opponent won't be omniscient and say "there going to attack here so I'll throw all my heroes that way" so chances are you won't get too much of a hero rush sort of thing. However the person may attack with their heroes in fleets and assaults. I just feel you guys are judging before you've even played the game or the demo and that is not really fair.
  12. Well in this one video there are 4 rebel artilleries shooting at Darth Vader and his health was going down pretty quickly. Note that he was walking with his lightsaber and was not attacking the artilleries at all. Any person who played the game and saw that would certainly use Vader's force crush ability against one of them and then call in troops and vehicles to aid Vader.
  13. Oho! Petroglyph is trying to start a new wave movement in RTS games. Nice! If successful this could be the beginning of the end for traditional basebuilding as we know it in RTS games.
  14. Don't know if it will work, though...more on this later. I don't think it will if it already didn't work. Chances are it's fried and removing the dust won't make it come back (you never know though ).

  16. Yes the defenders have the same reinforcement system as the attackers (I'm assuming). I think that with the many defences you can build around a planet (spacestation and ground based weapon which both are powerful) that the defender will be perfectly able to defend itself against attacks as long as you have a decent amount of firepower in addition to these defences.
  17. That's how I lost my FX5700LE on my last computer. I had no clue it had stopped (the fan). One day the screen went weird and then the computer would start, but no video. I'm sorry to hear that man. Hopefully you'll be able to get a new card withing the next 2 months.
  18. I'm thinking heavy cap shits take up 3 (ISD, MC) Medium takes up 2 (VSD, MK2...) and light take up 1 (CR-90, Tartin Patrol Ship...) But this is only a guess. tsk tsk cussing . Jking Phantom. Anyway that is exactly the 3-2-1 scheme that I had proposed on LucasForums a week ago (you can check you you don't believe me: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=157132 ). Anyway I have never been concerned much about the population cap and the recent news we've gotten about reinforcements reinforces the fact that I shouldn't have worried.
  19. This is a thread to kind of share what games you want to get and would suggest would be suitable for a PFF event. EaW is a given of course. I'll start off. Battle for Middle-earth 2 - custom heroes will be absolutely awesome. Company of Heroes - Fully destructable terrain, WW2, need I say any more? Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - another RTS This starts the running list of games. Note that this is for just sharing opinions. Any games we decide on will be added to our game list thread (I think we still have it).
  20. Here's a topic where we can discuss things about the EaW Demo MP game we'll have once the demo is released in January. Will we go Imps vs Rebs? Will we play more than one game (we'd better )? Anything you want to put out there before the event begins. Also we'll pick a day and time for the event (plan 2-5 hours maybe?) once we get a demo release date.
  21. They may have had difficulty with the balancing of the Venator, so instead they had to remove it. Also LA could have axed and thus another of the 50 models bites the dust.

  23. Did you not read the new Q&A thread? It states there 6ISD is max on map at one time. I just hope the reble fighters are super strong or tis gona cause problems. You'll probably be better off getting 2 anti-starfighter ships and 3 squads of X-Wings than 5 squads of X-Wings. That'll narrow down the massive fighter and bomber waves. I think that rebel fighters will be able to kill lots of TIEs and take lots of damage though.
